MOONETTE – Organic Skincare for Mature Skin
We are a Torrox-based company specialising in the creation of formulae which help prevent premature skin ageing.
We are committed to making effective products at affordable prices.
Your skin health matters to us. How you feed your skin is as important as how you feed your body. Why settle for anything less than natural and organic?
As our skin is the first layer of our defence against microbial infections, ultraviolet radiation and environmental contamination it plays a vital role in our health. As we grow older, however, our skin becomes thinner, wrinkled, and more sensitive; hence it requires the use of treatments containing specific ingredients to the care of treating mature skin.
Recognising this need we have created a range of formulae which help
-slow down ageing process by smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.
-improve facial complexion and eliminate blemishes.
At Moonette, we are passionate about health, beauty and plants. Your skin will benefit from the properties of botanic essential oils combined with a selection of nutrients for deep hydration, cell revitalization and antioxidant effect, all sourced from the finest natural ingredients with gorgeous fragrances.
Naturally, we care about our planet and feel the need to help reduce the sheer volumes of plastics waste that are generated daily around the globe. Presently, we are minimizing the usage of plastic materials in our production while seeking alternative forms of packaging. To help reduce pollution we are asking all local customers to recycle or reuse their Moonette skincare containers, and offering a small discount on future purchases to customers recycling containers.
Free small testers are available on request. Please contact us to find out more or to order:

Chaos in electricity bills due to errors in meter reading since June:
Adding to the rising cost of electricity in Spain is another problem that affects thousands of homes when paying the electricity bill. A delay persists in billing due to computer failures that have been dragging on since last June, as this newspaper reported. As of today, the chaos with these electricity bills has not been resolved because the actual consumption data in thousands of cases is still not transferred to paper, as quantified by the sector. Utilities blame distributors for the collapse in computer systems after the change in tolls methodology since the new rate came into effect. An ‘earthgrazer’ flew ‘a whopping 186 miles’ over two states, then vanished, NASA says: A space object with an intimidating name—”earthgrazer”—zoomed over Georgia and Alabama this week, offering witnesses a glimpse of something rare, NASA says.
“Earthgrazers” are fireball meteors with a trajectory so shallow that they skim long distances across the upper atmosphere, NASA says.
“Very rarely, they even ‘bounce off’ the atmosphere and head back out into space,” NASA Meteor Watch wrote on Facebook.
The fireball appeared Tuesday, Nov. 9, around 6:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, officials say, and was “detected by three NASA meteor cameras in the region.” Full article: https://phys.org/news/2021-11-earthgrazer-flew-whopping-miles-states.html

Recommendations & Requests

Recommendation for DoctorLaptop: Just a quick note to recommend Doctor Laptop to DigameXtra subscribers and friends. We were looking for two new laptops but found the price of these have increased nearly two fold.
So we gave Naythan our to old laptops to upgrade to Windows 10, service and check/repair the hard drives.
The two laptops are now working so much faster and the upgrade to windows 10 will see them through to 2025. Good job and money saved. Thanks Naythan.

SPAIN

Brussels slashes Spain’s growth forecast, projecting slower recovery than EU neighbors: Spain is growing and coming out of the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, which saw gross domestic product (GDP) in the country fall by levels not seen since the Spanish Civil War in the late 1930s. But it is doing so at a slower rate than expected, and faces the risk of being left behind by other countries in the euro zone. That’s the situation outlined by the autumn economic forecast released by the European Commission on Thursday. For 2021, Spain is expected to grow 4.6%, 1.6 points below the figure predicted in the summer forecast and 1.9 points below the government’s estimate, upon which next year’s budget plans are based. In 2022, output is projected to rise 5.5%, which is also far below the summer forecast. Spanish truck drivers announce three-day strike ahead of Christmas: Spain’s National Road Transportation Committee (CNTC) announced on Wednesday a three-day strike, between December 20 and 22, to protest what it calls the government’s failure to address a crisis in the sector. In a press release issued Wednesday evening, the CNTC – which represents freight truck drivers in Spain – accused the administration of “neglect,” arguing that “all reasonable channels of negotiation have been exhausted.”
If the strike is not called off, it could negatively affect the supply chain ahead of Christmas – key days for business, when more is sold than at any other time of the year. The last national strike from the sector took place in June 2008, at the beginning of the financial crisis, and led to massive bottlenecks and fuel shortages. MALAGA

These are the 34 Malaga trains indefinitely slashed by Renfe from Friday, 12 November: The national rail operator has restructured its Cercanías service timetable due to the lack of drivers and has dropped 32 trains that operate between Malaga and Fuengirola and two on the Álora line. EUROPE

You sanction us again? We’ll freeze you, Lukashenko warns Europe, threatening to cut gas supply: Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko opened another potential front against Europe on Thursday, threatening to choke off gas supplies amid a deepening crisis that has brought migrants surging to E.U. borders and Western leaders planning to retaliate with more sanctions. Eastern Europe, facing covid surge, also battles vaccine hesitancy:
Europe was one of the first regions in the world to deploy vaccines against the coronavirus, yet parts of the continent are now seeing a resurgence in cases, with some countries experiencing their highest infection levels of the pandemic.
In the Czech Republic, about 57 percent of people are fully vaccinated, new daily cases are up 33 percent over the past week, while infections in both Austria and Croatia have jumped 54 percent, according to a Washington Post tracker.
On Tuesday, Germany’s weekly case rate soared to a record 213 new infections per 100,000 people, according to the country’s infectious-disease agency, eclipsing last winter’s high of about 197.
About 66 percent of Germans are fully vaccinated, according to Our World in Data, putting Germany just slightly behind Britain and France. The European Union’s overall vaccination rate hovers at about 65 percent, buoyed in part by sky-high vaccine uptake in countries like Portugal, but bogged down by lagging efforts in Central and Eastern Europe.
Only a third of the populations in Russia and Romania are fully vaccinated. In Russia, recorded infections are at their highest levels yet, with about 40,000 new cases reported each day. Full article: https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2021/11/11/europe-coronavirus-rise-vaccines/

Dutch consider new partial lockdown as coronavirus cases hit record: The Dutch government on Thursday was considering whether to impose Western Europe’s first partial lockdown since the summer, as new coronavirus cases jumped to the highest level since the start of the pandemic.
To contain the outbreak, the government’s pandemic advisory panel on Thursday recommended imposing a partial lockdown, shutting down theatres and cinemas, scrapping large events and closing cafes and restaurants earlier, broadcaster NOS reported. SPORTS

Football News- Sweden shocker in Georgia opens door for Spain:
Sweden slumped to a shock 2-0 defeat in Georgia on Thursday handing Spain a lifeline in their bid to secure qualification for next year’s World Cup in Qatar. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia struck twice in the second half for the hosts in Tblisi as a Sweden side boasting Zlatan Ibrahimovic and rising star Alexander Isak were humbled.
Spain can now go to the top of Group B when they face Greece in Athens Thursday. Sweden’s stumble means even if Spain fail to take all three points, they will have a second chance to secure their place in Qatar when they host the Swedes in Seville on Sunday. OTHER

Cryptocurrency Is Forbidden for Muslims, Indonesia’s National Religious Council Rules: The use of crypto assets as a currency is forbidden for Muslims, according to Indonesia’s council of religious leaders.
The National Ulema Council, or MUI, has deemed cryptocurrency as haram, or banned, as it has elements of uncertainty, wagering and harm, Asrorun Niam Sholeh, head of religious decrees, said on Thursday after the council held an expert hearing. If cryptocurrency as a commodity or digital asset can abide by Shariah tenets and can show a clear benefit, then it can be traded, he added.
Indonesia’s government itself has been supportive of crypto assets, allowing it to be traded alongside commodity futures as an investment option and pushing to set up a crypto-focused exchange by the end of the year. Indonesia doesn’t allow the use of crypto assets as a form of currency, as the rupiah is the only legal tender in the country.
The stance of Indonesia’s religious leaders may diverge from their counterparts in other Muslim-majority countries. The United Arab Emirates have allowed crypto trading in Dubai’s free zone, while Bahrain have backed crypto assets since 2019. Covid Germany- Germany reports daily high number of new coronavirus cases, blames the 33% of population still unvaccinated and growing numbers of “breakthrough”cases: Germany’s national disease control center reported a record-high number of new coronavirus cases Wednesday as one of the country’s top virologists warned that another lockdown would be needed if vaccinations do not quickly accelerate.
The 39,676 cases registered by the Robert Koch Institute surpassed the previous daily record of 37,120 new cases reported Friday. The institute said Germany’s infection rate rose to 232.1 new cases per 100,000 residents over the past seven days.
Several hospitals have said in recent days that they are again working at their limits and have ICUs so full of COVID-19 patients that they cannot admit new patients at the moment.
Berlin’s Charite said Tuesday it had to cancel planned surgery due to the number of staff members caring for people with COVID-19.
In some countries where many people have already been vaccinated against COVID-19, the number of breakthrough infections is also increasing — including in Germany. However, the RKI said this development was “to be expected, as more and more people are vaccinated and SARS-CoV-2 is currently spreading again. This increases the likelihood of a fully vaccinated person coming into contact with the virus.” According to the RKI (Robert Koch Institute), the week from October 4 to 10 saw an additional 12,520 breakthrough infections. In the previous week, there were 10,824.

SPAIN

New “Tax on the Increase in the Value of Urban Land”- A reform of the municipal capital gains tax- came into force yesterday: {Translation}: It sets out two options for calculating capital gains tax, depending on the taxpayer’s needs.
-The Royal Decree-Law approved by the Government in the Council of Ministers which adapts the Tax on the Increase in the Value of Urban Land, known as municipal capital gains tax, to the ruling of the Constitutional Court will come into force this Wednesday, following its publication yesterday in the Official State Gazette (BOE).
-The decree establishes two options for determining the tax liability that taxpayers may choose to apply the most beneficial one. Specifically, citizens may choose to calculate the amount by the objective result of multiplying the cadastral value by new coefficients that will take into account the real estate reality or they may opt for the calculation through a real gain, with the difference between the sale price and the acquisition price.
-In the event that the taxpayer does not obtain a capital gain from the sale of the property, he or she will be exempt from paying this tax, according to the spokesperson. Those interested in accrediting the non-existence of an increase in value will have to declare the transfer, as well as provide the deeds documenting the transfer and the acquisition.
-In order to confirm the non-existence of an increase in value, the transfer or acquisition value will be taken as the higher of the value stated in the title documenting the transaction or the value verified, where applicable, by the Tax Administration, in accordance with the new powers granted to local councils.
THE COEFFICIENTS WILL BE UPDATED ANNUALLY
-With this decree, the Government proposes new coefficients to be applied to the cadastral value and which will be updated annually through, for example, the General State Budget Law.
-Specifically, it is established that the tax base will be the result of multiplying the cadastral value of the land at the time of accrual by the coefficients approved by the local councils, which in no case may exceed the limits set according to the number of years elapsed since the acquisition of the property.
-For example, for a period of less than one year from the acquisition of a property, a coefficient of 0.14 is set; for 1 year, the coefficient will be 0.13; for 2 years, 0.15 and for 3 years, 0.16.
-Also as a novelty, capital gains generated in less than a year will be taxed, i.e. those that occur when less than a year has elapsed between the date of acquisition and transfer and which, therefore, may be of a more speculative nature. This option is already being applied in some cities.
LOCAL COUNCILS WILL HAVE SIX MONTHS TO ADAPT
-For their adaptation, the Executive will give local entities six months to adapt their regulations to the new legal framework. In addition, the decree recognises the possibility for local councils, for the sole purpose of this tax, to correct land registry values downwards by up to 15% depending on their degree of updating. This ensures that the tax is adapted to the real estate situation in each municipality.
-It should be remembered that the High Court ruling does not allow taxpayers to claim self-assessments that are already final or that have not been appealed at the date of the ruling, so this decree does not have retroactive effects. Travelling to Spain During COVID-19: Here’s What You Need to Know (Updated 10Nov21)
-Travellers from most European Union and Schengen Area countries are allowed to enter Spain without being subject to the quarantine requirement as long as they have low infection rates.

What is causing the huge surge in heart disease in football?: {Translated in full from German}
***FC Barcelona’s professional player Sergio Agüero will be out of action for at least three months. The 33-year-old was substituted in the match against Deportivo Alavés with breathing problems. He had grabbed his chest and was taken to hospital. He is now being treated by a cardiologist for heart problems. At the European Championship, the player Christian Eriksen collapsed in front of running cameras. Diagnosis: cardiac arrest. Eriksen survived. The two professionals are just two examples of many footballers who have to struggle with sometimes life-threatening heart problems.
***DFB doctor Tim Meyer said after Eriksen’s collapse: “Even the best screening is not perfect, so things like this can still happen. That’s why there’s then the second line of prevention and that’s the presence of the emergency doctors on the sidelines.” But this system cannot prevent all life-threatening or even fatal cases.
***Emergency situations have been occurring again and again in recent weeks and months:
-Abandonment of a match due to cardiac arrest of the referee in a game of Lauber SV (Donauwörth district).
-A 17-year-old football player of JSG Hoher Hagen has to be resuscitated during the match in Hannoversch Münden.
-The Gifhorn amateur player Marvin Schumann has to be resuscitated after suffering a cardiac arrest.
-An assistant referee at a Kreisliga Augsburg match in Emersacker collapses with heart problems.
-A Kreisliga player from SpVgg. Oelde II has to be resuscitated by his opponent.
-A player from Birati Club Münster collapses in a Kreisliga match against FC Nordkirchen II.
-The 17-year-old footballer Dylan Rich dies of a heart attack during a match in England.
-The goalkeeper coach of SV Niederpöring suffers a heart attack after a training session.
-Lucas Surek (24) of the club BFC Chemie Leipzig drops out due to a suspected heart muscle disorder.
-Kingsley Coman (25) of FC Bayern München has to have heart surgery after cardiac arrhythmia.
-Coach Dirk Splitsteser of SG Traktor Divitz collapses dead on the sidelines.
-Rune Coghe (18) of the Belgian club Eendracht Hoglede (Belgium) suffers a heart attack during a match.
-During the Women’s World Cup qualifying match between Germany and Serbia in Chemnitz, an English lineswoman has to be carried off the pitch with heart problems.
-Team manager Dietmar Gladow from Thalheim (Bitterfeld) suffers a fatal heart attack before a match.
-The 53-year-old football coach Antonello Campus collapses dead while training with his youth team in Sicily.
-Anil Usta of VfB Schwelm (Ennepetal) collapses on the pitch with heart problems.
-Dimitri Liénard of FC Strasbourg collapses with heart problems in a Ligue 1 match.
-Diego Ferchaud (16) of ASPTT Caen suffers a cardiac arrest in an under-18 league match in Saint-Lô.
-Belgian footballer Jente Van Genechten (25) suffers a cardiac arrest in the early stages of a cup match.
-Belgian amateur footballer Jens De Smet (27) from Maldegem suddenly suffers a heart attack during the match and dies a short time later in hospital.
-A 13-year-old football player of the Janus Nova club from Saccolongo (Italy) collapses on the pitch with cardiac arrest.
-Andrea Astolfi, the sporting director of Calcio Orsago (Italy), suffers a heart attack after returning from training. He dies at the age of 45.
-Abou Ali (22) collapses with cardiac arrest during a two-league match in Denmark.
-Fabrice N’Sakala (31) of Besiktas Istanbul collapses on the field without the intervention of an opponent and has to be taken to hospital.
***According to the German Heart Foundation: “Depending on the study, there are between 0.7 and 3.0 deaths per 100,000 sportspeople per year.” According to the experts, men are affected more often than women: “According to data from the German register on sudden cardiac death in sport (Sudden Cardiac Death Register, SCD Germany), 96 % of the athletes affected are men,” says the foundation. Regarding the causes, it says that sudden cardiac death in sport has “different triggers”.
***The causes differ depending on the age of those affected. “In people under 35, diseases of the heart muscle, the heart valves, the aorta and the coronary vessels are among the possible triggers. Changes in the genetic make-up can, for example, lead to a thickening of the muscles of the left ventricle (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy). Diseases of the right ventricle in particular (arrhythmogenic (right ventricular) cardiomyopathy) can also be the cause of sudden cardiac death,” says the Heart Foundation.
***In people over 35, on the other hand, “coronary heart disease” is the most frequent cause of sudden cardiac death, accounting for about 80 percent. Coronary arteries become increasingly narrow due to deposits (plaques) of cholesterol, connective tissue and calcium. If these plaques rupture, blood clots sometimes form and the blood vessel becomes completely blocked.” This leads to a heart attack, which “can be associated with life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias”.
***Regardless of age, inflammation of the heart muscle (myocarditis) is another risk factor. “It can already occur in the course of banal viral infections, even without causing any symptoms,” says the German Heart Foundation. And further: “However, these inflammatory changes can lead to life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias.”

Monopolist Google loses challenge against EU antitrust ruling, $2.8-bln fine: It’s a major win for Europe’s competition chief in the first of three court rulings central to the EU push to regulate big tech. Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager fined the world’s most popular internet search engine in 2017 over the use of its own price comparison shopping service to gain an unfair advantage over smaller European rivals.
The court said the Commission correctly found Google’s practices harmed competition and dismissed the company’s argument that the presence of merchant platforms showed there was strong competition. It backed the Commission’s fine, citing the serious nature of the infringement and that “the conduct in question was adopted intentionally, not negligently”. Bitcoin price surges to record high of more than $68,000: The bitcoin price has reached a new record high, breaking through $68,000 (£50,000), and analysts predict that the world’s best-known cryptocurrency will rise further in the coming weeks.
This beats the previous record high set in late October, when bitcoin reached nearly $67,700 before falling back again when investors discovered a new cryptocurrency, shiba inu. Other cryptocurrencies have also risen to record highs, such as ethereum, which soared to $4,837. Metaverse- Augmented reality inventor warns it could be far worse than social media:
*Short version*
-Social media manipulates our reality by filtering what we are allowed (or not allowed) to see.
-We live in dangerous times because too many people use social media to disseminate untruths and promote division.
-Augmented reality and the metaverse have the potential to amplify these dangers to incomprehensible levels.
*Long Version*
-At its core, augmented reality (AR) and the metaverse are media technologies that aim to present content in the most natural form possible — by seamlessly integrating simulated sights, sounds, and even feelings into our perception of the real world around us. This means AR, more than any form of media to date, has the potential to alter our sense of reality, distorting how we interpret our direct daily experiences. In an augmented world, simply walking down the street will become a wild amalgamation of the physical and the virtual, merged so convincingly that the boundaries will disappear in our minds. Our surroundings will become filled with persons, places, objects, and activities that don’t actually exist, and yet they will seem deeply authentic to us… Read the rest of the article at: https://bigthink.com/the-future/metaverse-augmented-reality-danger/

Halting Erosion using Vetiver:
From Vetiver Spain in Sayalonga
Our Nursery is open by appointment. Please email or call first. We have Moringa seedlings, Organic Moringa powder and Comfrey plants. We also have some local trees and some exotic trees from Africa.
Vetiver is a rapid growing and non-invasive sterile clump grass with a height of 1-2 metres and a root system of 3-4 metres in depth. We have been providing Vetiver throughout the EU for almost 10 years now. We are located in Sayalonga where we can plant year round but our best results by far start in February. The reason is that Vetiver is indigenous to India and Vetiver loves the heat of the summer. Use Vetiver cuttings as mulch around all of your fruit trees. Decomposing Vetiver improves soil quality, keeps the weeds down and the insects away all while helping to maintain soil moisture.
Vetiver is a nutritious and replenishable animal fodder. Horses and pigs love it. We use it in our chicken pens replacing hay because it stops mites.
In the 2 photos below you will see land prepared for Vetiver and the results 2 years later.
We also use Vetiver along driveways and sidewalks. It also makes a great and inexpensive ornamental hedge.
Here is a link to a short video showing the results.
https://youtu.be/rjTmb_LL2uo
We suggest planting now, as this is the BEST time of the year to plant.

COVID-19

Covid Andalucia- Andalucía adds nine Covid deaths in a day, and the incidence rate rises to 37.2: A total of 289 new coronavirus infections in 24 hours have been reported in Andalucía this Tuesday, 9 November, along with nine deaths, the highest number since 15 October when the same number was counted. Malaga is the province that registers the most infections with 76, followed by Cordoba with 61, Seville (38), Almeria (37), Cadiz (33), Granada (21), Huelva (13) and Jaén with ten.
There has been a rise of eleven patients hospitalised for Covid-19, compared to Monday, to reach a total of 173, which also represents an increase of six compared last Tuesday. The number of patients admitted to an intensive care unit in the last day has also risen, by two, to 35. SPAIN

The end of free motorways in Spain is now a reality- Sticker and kilometre charge- this is how motorways in Spain will be paid for from 2023 onwards: {Translation}
-From January 2023, Spanish roads will no longer be free to drive on as they have been historically. Thus, following the plan sent by Pedro Sánchez’s government to Brussels this summer, driving on these roads will be paid for in order to finance their maintenance.
-This change has provoked harsh criticism from various sectors. Truck drivers, for example, will suffer the most from these new charges and some associations have already denounced the consequences that a reduction in the number of lorries could have.
-Although the Ministry of Transport initially had doubts about the model to be introduced, the media El Confidencial has advanced the new methodology to be implemented in Spain.
*Stickers and tolls*
-The first change to be introduced is that of a vignette on vehicles. From January 2023, all cars driving on motorways will have to carry this sticker after paying a fixed amount to obtain it.
-This will give access to Spanish high-speed roads in order to be the first step in the financing of motorways. Although this will be provisional and the Government’s idea is to implement the system that was already leaked in summer and that means paying per kilometre.
-One kilometre, one cent. This will be the definitive formula that the government hopes to implement in the future to finance roads after the end of concessions on some Spanish motorways.
-However, this will be implemented somewhat later than the sticker due to the logistical problems and great complexity involved in controlling this movement. The government hopes to start working on this next year and to have a roadmap drawn up before the end of the legislature.
-These two steps to be taken by the executive will mark the future of mobility over long distances in our country. Although progressive, the final objective is for users to pay for the service, something that has been welcomed by Brussels, although the Sanchez government took a long time to make it public.
-Within the government, there are even some divisions among the partners. Although the option is accepted within the PSOE, UNO Podemos is not in agreement and has opposed the idea.
-Its parliamentary spokesman, Pablo Echenique, went so far as to say that they would oppose the measure if it were carried out, although he qualified that they could give support if certain groups were excluded.
-Even so, the idea is firm and there seems to be no turning back. In two years’ time, drivers will be able to obtain their stickers, subject to payment, and drive on motorways without incurring an offence.
-Otherwise, although it has not yet been specified how this will be done, they will be detected and sanctioned by the authorities.
-After the stickers will come the new system of mileage-based tolls. This will somehow calculate where we are coming from and apply a rate that, as in traditional systems, we will have to pay on the spot.

Uber gains ground at Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport, but taxi drivers have a counter plan: Uber, the multinational ride-hailing company, will have a presence in the terminal and its own parking area out front, as well as a customer service counter in Terminal 3, but taxi drivers also have some new ideas to beat airport ‘pirates’. The assassin bug, the latest invasive species found in Malaga:
GENA-Ecologists in Acción warns of the discovery of specimens of Zelus renardii in Torre del Mar two years after the entomologist Manuel Baena detected them for the first time in Alhaurín de la Torre.
The insect is part of the Hemiptera family, which is made up of bugs with “sucking biting” mouthparts, which includes field bugs, “but this one belongs to the Reduviidae family, which are carnivorous species which preys on other insects,” explained biologist and president of GENA, Rafael Yus.
This species does not eat its prey because of its mouthparts, but instead “sucks the internal organs and fluids of the prey, causing it to die”, he added. Hence the name assassin bug. “It does not cause any harm to humans,” Yus pointed out. It is native to North America.
“Given that this species does not seem to have preferred prey, is polyphagous or non-specific, the risk of it becoming an invasive species is very high, so it may have to be upgraded from alien to invasive species status.” However, Yus added that it could also have a beneficial effect, as it has a special predilection for aphids, many of which become pests, therefore becoming an ally for the farmer or gardener,” he explained. New painting discovered in Cueva de Nerja: The new painting in the Cueva de Nerja consists of lines and spots of red pigment that are identified with the shape of an animal with the characteristics of an equid. Austria Now Requires Everyone, Including Tourists, to Present Proof of Vaccination or Recovery When Attending Public Spaces: It is emphasised that COVID-19 tests, both PCR and antigen, are no longer valid, meaning that only those who have been vaccinated or recovered from the virus are permitted to enter bars, restaurants, and accommodation, among others.
“In Austria, the 2-G-rule (“vaccinated, recovered”) is in effect in many areas. Access to accommodation, restaurants/bars, cable cars and cultural institutions, among others, is only possible with proof of full vaccination/past infection. A negative Covid-19 test is no longer sufficient,” the statement of Austria’s official travel portal reads.
The measure does not apply to children under the age of 12. As for those between 12 and 18 years, a solution is in the making.
Also, it has been highlighted that changes have also been made to the validity of the vaccination passport. Currently, Austria recognises vaccination certificates as long as not more than 12 months have passed since the last vaccine dose was taken. However, in line with the new regulation, starting from December 6, vaccination passports will remain valid for nine months only. German coronavirus infection rate hits highest since pandemic began: Germany’s coronavirus infection rate has risen to its highest level since the start of the pandemic, public health figures showed on Monday, and doctors warned they will need to postpone scheduled operations in coming weeks to cope.
The seven-day incidence rate – the number of people per 100,000 to be infected over the last week – rose to 201.1, higher than a previous record of 197.6 in December last year, the figures from the Robert Koch Institute showed on Monday. Latest DGT proposal to fine ITV violators, around 32 per cent of drivers: DGT has proposed taking full advantage of the DGT cameras to monitor all vehicles and find those that do not have the ITV. This would then allow the authority to proceed to open the corresponding sanctioning file. According to DGT data, 32 per cent of vehicles circulating on the road system in Spain have not passed the ITV, or have not passed it directly. (This sounds like the introduction of “Big Brother” monitoring all vehicles on all major highways 24/7, in real time. As gov’t agencies make a habit of exposing supposedly secure data, this is a great threat to privacy. This road use data for every car on the highways will be stored, but it will get out, and inevitably be abused to make profit for somebody. In other cases, such as divorces and criminal investigations, it will be used to prove someone was not where they will claim to have been. This plan to track every driver is your privacy being eroded in a major way! -Ed.)

Double-jabbed elderly people have ‘started dying from Covid due to waning immunity’: The effectiveness of the first two doses of the coronavirus vaccine is waning, and it’s killing elderly and vulnerable people who are double-vaccinated, Dr Susan Hopkins at the UK Health Security Agency, a chief medical adviser, has said. “It is particularly the older age groups, so the over-70s in particular, but also those who are clinically vulnerable, extremely vulnerable, and have underlying medical conditions.”
She added: “As we’ve mentioned, the immune effects wane and what we see is, especially in the older or the vulnerable groups, those are the people whose immunity will wane the most. Full article:

Bands & Acts: Please submit your gig promos. Your music is your business, you need to get as much exposure as possible, don’t rely on venues to promote you! Most FB posts by venues only have a few likes, if any at all, so obviously are not reaching many people. DigameXtra sends out over 4290  4335 email issues everyday to subscribers, and the website gets another 800 visits per day. That is way better exposure than you are getting in any FB posts!!! The price of electricity rises again to more than 160 euros per megawatt hour: {Translation, summary}
-The average daily price of electricity on the wholesale market will rise by 27.51% this Monday, standing at 167.67 euros per megawatt hour. Thus, the upward trend returns after two days of declines.
-In any case, the price of electricity continues, after eleven consecutive days, below 200 euros, after exceeding this threshold for 15 consecutive days in October, according to OMIE data.
-Regardless of this, electricity prices are still at very high levels compared to the rest of the historical series. Specifically, just a year ago it was quoted at 34.64 euros/MWh, so the increase in price over the last year is 383.98%, i.e. almost five times more expensive.
-However, the price this Monday, 8 November will be almost twice as expensive as just a week ago, when the price of electricity stood at 91.2 euros/MWh.
-According to OMIE data, the highest price this Monday will be between 20.00 and 21.00 hours, when it will reach 203.71 euros/MWh, while the lowest will be between 04.00 and 05.00 hours, at 139.36 euros/MWh.
-The average price at the end of October stood at 200.06 euros/MWh, 44 euros above the average for September (156.14 euros/MWh), making it the most expensive month in history so far.

Brits Travelling to EU Could Face Long Border Queues From Next Year Due to Upcoming Biometric Checks: United Kingdom nationals travelling to Europe have been recently warned that sometime next year, they will start facing long queues at the borders due to the biometric checks that the European Union intends to impose soon.
The European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) and the Entry-Exit System (EES) are set to become effective in mid-2022. The first is a document that third country citizens under the EU visa-free regime, including here UK nationals, will have to obtain before travelling to the Schengen Area.
The second, on the other hand, is an automated IT system for registering travellers from third countries, both short-stay visa holders and visa-exempt travellers, each time they cross an EU external border.
UK transport bosses fear that Brits will face longer waiting times, in particular, when using the ferry ports and the Channel Tunnel. Dover Harbour Board Tim Reardon said that not only the waiting lines would be longer, but travellers would also have to step out of the vehicles in order to complete the controls. El Puente Christian Fellowship – Sunday Service
El Puente Christian Fellowship is a loving, multi-national, Bible believing community of Christ, who meet each Sunday at 11 am to worship The Lord. We enjoy a time of worship with contemporary songs and traditional hymns, and a message brought to us by one of the Elders or a visiting speaker.
The church meeting hall is situated underneath Maroma Inmobiliaria Puente Don Manuel, Cruce de Periana – 29713.
Full directions and further information can be found on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/El-Puente-Christian-Fellowship-105285888299225/or please contact us by email on elpuentechristianfellowship@gmail.com. St George’s Church Málaga: We are part of the Church of England in Spain covering the area from Torremolinos in the west to the outskirts of Nerja in the east and to the northern edge of Malaga province.
We have three worship centres, in Velez-Málaga, Málaga city and Salinas. Everyone is welcome to our Sunday services in English, and you can also contact us to enquire about baptisms, marriage blessings, funerals, and house blessings.
Father Louis, our Chaplain, is available for counsel and support, regardless of anyone’s beliefs or background. We aspire to be a welcoming and inclusive community, open to all people seeking faith and friendship.
If you can’t get to church, we live-stream our Sunday services on Facebook, and also gather on Zoom for an informal service on Wednesday mornings.

Duo Dutch, Duo Masque, Duo Arts: Sunday the 14th of November.
When talents match beautiful events will be on!
This month Lieuwke Loth her art can not only be seen in Galeria Luz de la Vida in Competa, but also at the well known restaurant Bodegas Bentomiz in Sayalonga! Dutch couple André and Clara began making wine in the late 1990s. Impressed by the quality of the exceptional local grapes they turned their hobby into a business (2004) and Bodegas Bentomiz was born. They produce a varied range of exquisite wines with the common theme of being elegant, fresh and subtle. Since André is a civil engineer, it is no surprise the Bodega building is spectacular: special for its design but integrating perfectly in its natural surroundings. Clara and André are delighted to host the works of Dutch artist Lieuwke Loth.
Sunday the 14th of November we invite you to come to the inauguration, from 16:30 – 19:00 you’re welcome to see the lasercut art and to enjoy the atmospheric place. The artist will be there to tell about her work. To make it an extra joyful event Duo Masque, Russell Roberts and Christine Quayle, will perform their world music from 17:30 on. The exhibition will be on till the first week of January.
Welcome, we hope to see you then!

DoctorLaptop’s Tips #94- 1 Tb (1000Gb) Laptop Hard Drives
-While having a huge hard drive of 1 Terabyte or more is convenient for storing large amounts of data, there is a price to be paid. Large capacity HDDs have a shorter expected lifespan (5yrs) than smaller capacity HDDs of 500Gb or less (7+yrs).
-These large hard drives have to do more work than smaller hard drives as there is a much greater area for the internal mechanism to move back and forth across. This refers to standard HDDs, not Solid State SDDs.
-I am seeing many of these 1Tb HDDs, specifically those made before 2019, showing significant degradation, or failing altogether.
-Since you may have huge amounts of data on these large capacity HDDs, I strongly suggest, if you have one of these large HDDs that is over 3yrs old, that you backup all your valuable data to an external memory device asap.

SPAIN

How the coronavirus pandemic has widened inequalities in Spain:
The health crisis has affected households with lower incomes worse than others, and has increased the already-existing gap in Spanish society.
The inequality gap began to widen the very moment that the Spanish government declared the first coronavirus state of alarm, on March 14, 2020, and companies began to send their employees home. Those who were able to work from home were, in general, those who had a higher level of education, while the job losses were mostly suffered by people with fewer qualifications or training, lower salaries and in many cases temporary contracts.

COVID-19

Covid Malaga- Fifth day without dead with Covid in Malaga and the rate stabilized: {Translation, summary} 4Nov21 14:56
-For the fifth consecutive day, the province of Malaga has recorded no deaths. Moreover, the rate has remained stable for the last month. These are two pieces of good news. But there is no longer the downward trend of several weeks ago: since the beginning of October, the incidence has remained between 50 and 40 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
-The rate remains at a plateau. Since the end of July it has been falling steadily and slightly every day until the beginning of October. Then it stabilised. Since then, it has fluctuated between 50 and 40 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Exactly one month ago it was 50.1. After dropping to 37.0 in the third week of last month, it is now 45.4; two points less than the previous day, but more than last week. In short, it is – albeit at reasonable levels – stagnating.
-Something similar is happening with the number of hospitalised patients, which is around half a hundred. The report from the Consejería de Salud y Familias states that 51 patients are hospitalised, of which 15 are in the ICU. But the figure becomes even more significant when compared with the pressure of care at the beginning of February, when a total of 1,010 patients were in hospital with Covid 19, of whom 114 were in intensive care.
-The number of infections is still under a hundred. This Thursday leaves another 68 infected with the virus.
-With respect to other provinces of the autonomous community, Malaga is above the Andalusian average rate, which is 32.9 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The worst situation is in Huelva, with 60.8. It is followed by Almería with 47.7, Málaga with 45.4, Córdoba with 41.3 and Jaén with 33.9. Below the average rate and with a better epidemiological outlook are Granada with 22.7, Cadiz with 19.3 and Seville with 19.0. Covid Andalucia- Hospital admissions down by five to 174, ICU patients down: {Translation} 4Nov21 12:43
-On Thursday 4 November, Andalusia recorded a drop of five hospitalised patients for Covid-19 compared to Wednesday to a total of 174, which represents an increase of eight in the inter-weekly comparison, while patients admitted to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) have fallen by one to 39, also the same as seven days ago.
-The number of hospitalised patients fell by five on Thursday after rising by 12 on Wednesday and 15 on Tuesday, after falling by seven on Monday, three on Saturday, four on Friday and eight last Thursday, when there were 166 hospitalised patients.
-For their part, ICU patients fell by one on Thursday after remaining unchanged on Wednesday, falling by two on Tuesday, rising by two on Monday and one on Saturday and remaining unchanged on Friday and last Thursday, with 39 patients admitted.
-The peaks of hospital admissions recorded in the third wave on 2 February (4,980), in the second on 10 November last year (3,478) and in the first on 30 March of the same year (2,708) are now far behind us. Also the peak of the fourth wave in the spring of this year, which was of lower incidence than the previous ones and was recorded on 20 April (1,593), and of the fifth wave, reported on 10 August (1,486).
-In terms of ICUs, Andalusia is also well below the peak of the third wave on 7 February (735), of the second wave on 18 November last year (528) and of the first wave on 30 March of the same year (439). It was also below the peak of the fourth wave on 29 April (351) and the fifth wave on 10 August (261). ‘Grave concern’ over Covid in Europe as German cases soar:
The World Health Organization expressed “grave concern” Thursday over the rising pace of coronavirus infections in Europe, as Germany registered its biggest daily increase since the start of the pandemic.
“We are, once again, at the epicentre,” WHO Europe director Hans Kluge told a press conference.
He warned that according to “one reliable projection” the current trajectory would mean “another half a million Covid-19 deaths” by February.
Alarm bells were ringing especially in Germany, the European Union’s most populous country, where the number of new cases over the past 24 hours soared to almost 34,000 on Thursday — an all-time high, according to the Robert Koch Institute health agency. German Health Minister Jens Spahn said on Wednesday that the country of 83 million people was facing a “massive” pandemic among the unvaccinated and that intensive care beds were starting to run out in some regions. “Corona is once again raging with full force, the fourth wave is hitting us hard,” the top-selling Bild daily wrote. Despite vaccines being widely available, just 66.9 percent of the German population was fully inoculated as of Thursday, according to official figures. Brits Told Their NHS Covid Passes Downloaded Before November 1 Are Invalid for Travel to EU: The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has warned holders of NHS COVID Pass to redownload the document before travelling, as the documents issued before November 1 will not be recognised for travel by the 27-nation-bloc nor 17 non-EU countries that have joined the EU DCC gateway.
In other words, this means that British holidaymakers who have downloaded or printed a PDF version of their COVID passport before Monday might not be able to board flights to the EU. Even if they do so through another proof of vaccination, they won’t be able to enter restaurants, museums and other public spaces while on holiday with their NHS pass downloaded before Monday. Covid Spain- Health notifies 2,287 new positive and 39 deaths in the last 24 hours, with cumulative incidence Wednesday of 49.31 cases per 100,000 inhabitants: {Translation} 03 Nov 2021 – 17:53
-The autonomous communities have notified the Ministry of Health on Wednesday of 2,287 new cases of COVID-19, 1,515 of them diagnosed in the last 24 hours. These figures are lower than on the same day last week, when 2,532 positive cases were reported, which is evidence of the downward trend in the evolution of the pandemic.
-The total number of infections in Spain now stands at 5,019,255 since the start of the pandemic, according to official statistics. The cumulative incidence in the last 14 days per 100,000 inhabitants stands at 49.31, compared to 49.03 yesterday. A total of 23,399 positives have been recorded in the past two weeks.
-In Wednesday’s report, 39 new deaths have been added, compared to 51 last Wednesday. As many as 87,462 people with a positive diagnostic test have died since the virus arrived in Spain, according to data compiled by the ministry. In the last week, 57 people with a confirmed positive COVID-19 diagnosis have died in Spain.
-Currently, there are 1,825 patients admitted for COVID-19 in Spain (1,740 yesterday) and 411 in ICU (405 yesterday). In the last 24 hours, there have been 228 admissions (185 yesterday) and 196 discharges (83 yesterday). The occupancy rate for coronavirus occupied beds stands at 1.48 per cent (1.42 per cent yesterday) and in ICUs at 4.50 per cent (4.44 per cent yesterday).
-Between 24 and 30 October, the autonomous communities carried out 539,126 diagnostic tests, of which 321,442 were PCR and 217,684 antigen tests, with an overall rate per 100,000 inhabitants of 1,146.44.
-Meanwhile, the positivity rate stands at 2.76 percent, compared to 2.71 percent yesterday. The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends that this figure should be below 5 per cent to consider the spread of the virus as ‘controlled’. The Lancet suggests Spain may have achieved herd immunity thru
a mix of high population exposure to infection and high vaccination rates: {Translation}
-The way in which Spain has dealt with the virus, and especially the high levels of vaccination achieved, has already made international headlines in recent months. Moreover, renowned experts in the field of covid, such as the German virologist Christian Drosten, have provided the reasons why our country has become “the envy of Europe”.
-In his opinion, shared last September in a podcast in which he regularly participates, the key is not that Spaniards have more confidence than Germans or other countries in vaccines, but that they have “a terrible social experience”, since the pandemic caused “many deaths and a real confinement”, a “real blockade where you could only go shopping” and with “soldiers patrolling the streets”. “That is confinement. And we haven’t seen that in Germany,” Drosten said, warning that politicians in his country would have to take “serious measures” if they wanted to achieve a high vaccination rate. Currently in Germany, 66% of the population is fully immunised, 14 points below the 80% in Spain.
-In a similar vein, the scientific journal The Lancet has now pronounced itself in its article “Has Spain reached herd immunity?” where the authors argue that the key to success in Spain may have been a high exposure to the virus which, together with a successful vaccination campaign, has placed us in a situation of low risk in recent months.
-Despite the current slowdown in vaccination, “more than 80% of the Spanish population is fully vaccinated and experts are beginning to believe that the country is on the verge of achieving something that seemed impossible just a few weeks ago: herd immunity,” the publication notes.
-“We still don’t know the exact proportion of the population that needs to be immune to achieve herd immunity,” says the head of the infectious diseases service at the Hospital Virgen de la Macarena in Seville, who believes that Spain at least offers some clues: without restrictions, infections are contained, unlike what has happened in other waves.
-Another important aspect for the authors is the response of adolescents to vaccination (more than 80% are fully vaccinated) and the low incidence of cases among children, despite the fact that they are not yet vaccinated. They also highlight the progress made by some communities – such as Madrid – in eliminating the compulsory use of masks in school playgrounds.
Opening up “without going backwards”.
-Spain also represents an example of resilience in the opinion of the publication, since while other European countries have had to re-impose heavy restrictions (most recently the Netherlands), here the activities continue to recover without any backtracking.
-The UK, after reopening almost all activities, had record daily infection figures. “One in ten children is infected with covid. A situation that cannot be compared to that in Spain,” notes The Lancet. Denmark lifted its restrictions in September and the number of infections has doubled. Norway has also seen an increase in infections after the government took a similar decision. In all these countries, the full vaccination rate is lower than in Spain. SPAIN

Top Covid expert in Spain, Fernando Simón, makes controversial claims, sees no need for a third dose “in general” and says “give them to the third world”: The director of Spain’s Centre for the Coordination of Health Alerts and Emergencies said that he believes that a third dose of a coronavirus vaccine is not necessary “in general” because “it seems that immunity lasts for years” and has instead advocated “giving them to third world countries.”
Simón has said this Tuesday (2 November) that during the first wave of the pandemic, in the spring of last year, he believes that Spain registered “2.3 million infections” of Covid -19, and “not 226,000”, as the official statistics of the Ministry of Health still show today.
He also expressed his doubts about the giving the vaccine to those under 12 years of age, a group that “is very little affected by the disease.” Full article: https://www.surinenglish.com/spain/covid-expert-spain-20211102184616-nt.html

Spain’s Costa Blanca Authorities Want to Extend the Permitted Period of Stay for UK Citizens: The Alicante Provincial Council President, Carlos Mazon, had a meeting with the Ambassador of Spain to the UK, José Pascual Marco, during which they talked about the situation of British residents in the province after Brexit.
During this meeting, Mazon asked the Ambassador to extend the 90-day period that British citizens are allowed to stay when visiting Spain within any 180 days.
In order to help the area’s travel and tourism sector as well as to provide less complicated post-Brexit travel rules, Mazon has emphasised that they are working on reciprocity so that the allowed staying period for UK nationals can be extended to six months.
