-Pirate IPTV: Police Across Europe Carry Out ‘Largest Ever’ Operation. As it turns out some of the large IPTV providers, that may also offer fiber optic & internet, which makes them appear to be legit operators, are selling pirated stream subscriptions. Police carried out 14 simultaneous raids, eight of them in Spain (in Malaga, Madrid and Alicante), four in Denmark, and two in the UK. Five people were arrested and now stand accused of a variety of crimes, from IP offenses to fraud and money laundering. Ten others gave statements to police.
The investigation began in late 2015 following a complaint filed by the UK’s Premier League against a Malaga-based website offering IPTV subscription packages providing “a multitude of international conditional access channels”, i.e, otherwise premium subscription-based content.
Following the complaint, police in Spain made efforts to verify the illegal activity, which included the provision of more than 800 television channels, on demand content, and radio stations. The packages offered by the unlicensed provider cost 40 euros per month and could go up to 460 euros, depending on subscription duration.
The investigation revealed various social network accounts through which the service attracted more customers, plus a network of 20 additional websites offering the same product.
“To give the illicit business the appearance of legality and to launder the profits, they created companies with lawful activity and a stated objective related to the provision of telecommunications services, internet and hardware,” Spanish police explain. “On the one hand, they had the technical and technological infrastructure necessary to carry out their legal business (fiber operators) and also the illicit business (illegal IPTV subscriptions). On the other, they were authorized operators for fiber. It served as an argument for customers to believe that they were also in the business of distributing foreign channels.”
The operators, therefore, allegedly mixed legal revenue with illegal, in order to raise as little suspicion as possible. However, that didn’t stop the police from noticing their luxury lifestyles.

-“Google Unlocked” Aims to ‘Uncensor’ Google Search Results: Can’t find a site using Google Search, even though you know for a fact it used to be there? Many users don’t bother making bookmarks, relying on Google Search to find the site again and again. Then one day it’s gone! Google may be censoring it for possible copyright infractions. Google Unlocked, a new extension for Chrome and Firefox, scans for hidden links that were censored due to requests from copyright holders to remove allegedly-infringing content from its indexes. This extension extracts the censored links and puts them back into Google results. Google honors most DMCA take-down requests but rejects a fair few too, often due to the reported activity not actually being copyright infringement. However, when links are removed, users are informed of the fact via a note at the bottom of Google’s search results. Here is a screenshot of a search for “action movies” with censored notice, and links where you can get this extension.

The “Goldberg Variations”, originally called by Bach “Aria with various variations for key with two keyboards” was composed over several years and published in 1741 as the fourth part of the “Clavier-Übung”, something like “Exercises for keyboard “for demanding amateurs. The first three parts were: the first, Six partitas for code; the second, the Italian Concert and the French Overture; and the third, the German Mass for organ and four duets for key.
The fact that the publication was produced in 1741 or 1742, that is, during the author’s lifetime, is a rarity. However, it is almost certain that its composition would be years earlier, since a manuscript copy of the aria has been found in a notebook of Bach’s second wife, Anna Magdalena dated around 1725, although it could have been added later.
Most likely, either Goldberg, or Keyserlingk himself, got a copy of that first edition, perhaps delivered by Bach himself to his protector on a trip to Dresden, and so much was the Count’s thanks and both interpreted his harpsichordist that, with the passage of the years, everybody knows them like “Goldberg Variations”.

Sending files that are too big for an email attachment: Mozilla has finally launched its free, end-to-end encrypted file-transfer service, called Firefox Send, to the public, allowing Firefox Web-Browser users to securely share large files like video, audio or photo files that can be too big to fit into an email attachment. Firefox Send allows you to send files up to 1GB in size, but if you sign up for a free Firefox account, you can upload files as large as 2.5GB in size. The service uses a browser-based encryption technology that encrypts your files before uploading them to the Mozilla server, which can only be decrypted by the recipients.
It’s just an online website where you can quickly upload a file (and protect it with a password if you like) and set an expiration period after which it will be deleted. Simply share the link it generates with whomever you want to have it. -The prices for a new copy of Windows 10 on the Microsoft website have gone up despite many writers suggesting there would be discounts as the end of Windows 7 approaches. New prices: Win 10 Home €145, Win 10 Pro €259. Have you made your System recovery disk image yet? If your hard drive quits you don’t want to have to buy a new copy of Win 10! Go to Settings/Recovery for instructions.
-Windows has now “recommended” no computers more than 3 yrs old be upgraded to Windows 10, they say you should buy a new computer before Win 7 goes obsolete in 9 months. Here are some new quotes from Microsoft’s Support page. Oh, and they want you to buy your new laptop from them or one of their sponsored distributors (BestBuy/Walmart/CostCo/Amazon).
