-Sat: Karaoke with Carlos. Our well established Saturday night continues with the original Karaoke King Carlos. Prizes for the best and worst performers, and free nibbles on the night.
-Sunday: Traditional Sunday Roast from 2-7pm Choose from Roast Beef or Slow Roasted Shoulder of Pork. All served with roast and mashed potatoes, lots of veg, homemade Yorkshire pudding, stuffing and the tastiest gravy around.
9pm The Candlelight Sessions hosted by Paul Hayes. A cozy night of acoustic music playing everything from blues to country, rock, old-timey, Irish, reggae, pop and wherever the night takes us.

Torrox Spanish History Group: Came to the end of very successful year and we look forward to another successful year in 2019.
For February our talk will be on the “History Of Spices in Spain”, and we can look forward to more talks in 2019, Joan Fallon the author will be giving a talk and there will be talks Queen Isabella of Spain and Federico Garcia Lorca and a tour will be organised called “La Ruta de Federico Garcia Lorca” which will take us to the houses where he lived and which are now museums. We will also visit Viznar and Alfacar where he was held prior to being shot as well as well as the Federico Garcia Lorca Park, set up to honour of those people who were shot and killed during the Civil war.
The Torrox Spanish History Group is a charitable organisation set up so that people can come together and learn about the History Of Spain. Police registration for rental properties: There is a great app called checkinscan which you can register to. It enables your guests to do a self check-in which is automatically sent to the police. This is a totally legal way to register your guests but you do need to register with the police first to get the login to the police website. All the guests records are then kept for you to access any time on the website. This saves a lot of time and guests appreciate not having to send in all their details or passport copies in advance. They have to download the app in their phone or tablet and can then scan the passport and sign when they arrive at the property. It costs approx 0,50€ per entry. No cost to join Checkinscan.com

When they discover that they are not legally married, each couple initially reacts with proper Victorian horror – what will the neighbors think? – and all three couples find themselves reevaluating their marriages; hovering closely over the proceedings is the Yorkshire Argus’ alcohol-soaked photographer, keen to record the evening’s events for posterity, and a wickedly destructive housekeeper who is hoping to use the couples’ mortification to her own advantage. In the end, of course, everything turns out well, and the play ends on a happy note.

Message to dog owners: Due to free running dogs, not on a leash but with collars, in Sayalonga Campo, who entered my terrace on Saturday morning – the home of my two cats -, and getting aggressive with the cats. They must have had a very heavy fight in which the tom-cat got injured very seriously. I had to take him to hospital where he died after 8 hours at night, due to those very heavy bites of these aggressive beasts. As you can imagine I am more than furious and sad. Guest registration for rental properties: Hi – I don’t profess to be an expert, but this information will hopefully help Jan and anyone else wanting to register guests.

Browser: When I first registered, the advise was to use Firefox. I think other browsers such as Chrome do work, but with Firefox you don’t get a security warning.
Information: You certainly need all the info you mentioned, and I’ve been told that you are supposed to have seen a copy of the actual passport. But you don’t need to scan the passport into the system.
Age: Yes, registration applies to anyone over the age of 16.
Printing: Yes, you can print a copy from the website, and the guests are supposed to sign them on arrival. You don’t have to present the signed copies to the police, but they must be available for inspection on request (I think you have 3 days).
I too live in the UK. Fortunately now the lady doing the meet and greet takes care of all the registration for me. Prior to that it was a problem due to timing – I could only do the online registration on the day of arrival, which was too late to print the forms and get them sent over for signing. So I did my own form in Word, and sent it in advance. Beware, though, that they must be numbered (which they are automatically if you print them from the system). I have heard of fines being levied for forms without numbers on.
I stand to be corrected if anyone spots any errors in what I’ve said.

Renting Info: We started renting out our place in Benajarafe in Spring last year. The policia website is

It’s not a secure site but this is normal apparently! You have to click on “advanced” then “proceed to website (unsafe)”
After you enter your user name and password (you did well to get them!) and enter the site, click on “Grabacion Manual” and the details to be entered come up.You need the name(s), nationality, type and number of ID document , year of birth and sex. I’m never sure about the Fechas – I think F Expedicion is date of arrival of guests and F Entrada is the date you enter the details (it’s supposed to be done within 24hrs of arrival. After the details are entered, click Grabar and the details are sent to the Guardia. That’s all they need.
The completed form then comes up on the screen and can be printed off and signed by the guest. I found the easiest way to get a copy of the form to save or print is to use the computer Snipping Tool to take a photo. However in practice, our local hostess gives them each a blank form to fill in and sign. The Guardia don’t need a copy but as I understand it, the Andalucia Tourist Office requires us to keep a copy of each form and ID document available for inspection for three years.
We try to get our guests to email us copies of their ID documents a few days in advance. That helps our hostess in preparing the bedrooms and we are also then ready to enter the details on to the policia website within 24hrs of their arrival.

Builder: Are you looking for a reliable builder? We can highly recommend Scott Wilson. He worked at our old house in the country side building outdoor terraces, steps, a storage room and an outdoor kitchen. He listened to our suggestions and often came with ideas for improvement. His workers were courteous and friendly. They got on with the job and obviously enjoyed the work. The area was cleaned up every day and tools packed away. They arrived on time and we were always notified by phone of any changes due to rainy weather, etc. So now we sit either on our front terrace and enjoy the view down to the sea or on the tiled side terrace where we often make our lunch outdoors. We are really pleased with the work he did.

Reminder: Microsoft to end support for Windows 7 in 1 year. So it’s time for you to upgrade your OS and say goodbye to Windows 7, as its five years of extended support will end on January 14, 2020. After that date, the tech giant will no longer release free security updates, bug fixes and new functionalities for the operating system that’s still widely used by people, which will leave users who fail to upgrade more susceptible to malware attacks. However, the end of free support doesn’t end Windows 7 support for big business and enterprise customers. As always, Microsoft does make exceptions for certain companies that are willing to pay a lot of money to continue their support.

In March 2017, Microsoft also started blocking new security patches and updates for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users running the latest processors from Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, and others. With this dirty trick MS has denied you the ability to run Win 7 or 8.1 on new computers they are actually compatible with, a clear violation of your right to use your purchased equipment as you see fit. Renting Information required: Hello, I am renting out a villa in Competa campo and finally, have a user name and password to enter details of guests with their Guardia Civil. I’m not currently living in Spain so trying to sort this remotely before the spring season starts.
What I don’t have is the Web site address to log on to their system. Does anyone have this? Also, can anyone advise if it is only the passport details that are required I.e. number, date of issue and country of issue or if a copy of the passport needs to be scanned in? I have also heard a form for each guest, over the age of 16, has to be signed. Anyone know if this form is printable from their web site and if the Guardia civil need a signed copy? If so do I have to keep a second copy?

Pets

Alfie needs a home: This gorgeous puppy is Alfie, AAR 2073! He was abandoned in the campo and rescued by a kind lady. Alfie is a podenco cross of about 4 months. He is inquisitive, loves socks and playing with other dogs and has the most amazing aquamarine eyes. Walks very well on a lead, barks at cats at first but then seems to lose interest. He started out all scared and timid but after only two days he is a happy, confident chap. Alfie has leisch on his ears, according to the local vet that should not be a problem at all for a long and happy life. Alfie is currently near Comares if anyone wants to come and say hello, he is very very cuddly!

Once he gets out of our very well fenced garden, he becomes a free spirit and will not respond to our calls or enticements, until he has tired himself out exploring the countryside. We are getting very desperate, as we do not want to lose him, have him get hurt or cause damage, therefore we are appealing for anyone in Digameland who has any ideas about how we can contain him (we’ve already spent a fortune on fencing), or know of anywhere where we can take him for obedience training. Horse Manure sold by Ellen Amos in Algarrobo and advertised on Digamextra: We have bought manure from Ellen before and have been more than satisfied. This week again we went to buy more manure for this year. We arrived at the time we had agreed and the 10 sacks were waiting for us in the road which made loading convenient. They were well bagged, so there was no spillage nor smell in the car. The quality is very good, I think the term is “well-seasoned”. So we’re expecting a bumper display of roses this year! Recommendations for a Plumber: Thanks to Sue and Pete for their recommendation of Rob Peel the plumber. I have lived in Spain for many years and he has to be the best plumber I have come across. He came when he said he would i.e at once as I had a fairly urgent job. He knows what he is doing and gave helpful advice as to what to do if a similar problem should arise elsewhere. The Diputación de Málaga provincial government has awarded a number of town halls in the Axarquía funds to roll out a number of projects:
-Cómpeta town hall has been awarded 250,000 euros to set up an olive oil museum. The town’s old olive oil factory has been earmarked for the museum which will show the entire process from the olives arriving at a mill, to the final product being bottled. There will also be space for exhibitions and cultural activities.
–A further 200,000 euros has gone to Moclinejo for an Axarquía Muscatel raisin research centre, which the council has said will attract tourists to the village as well as being of significant interest to the agro-food industry in the local area.
-Other funds have gone to the villages of Arenas and Benamargosa to improve their respective football pitches and the older people’s day centre in Árchez is set to be refurbished.
-Macharaviaya town hall has received 38,480 euros to convert two warehouses and replace the town hall roof.

Cockfighting Busted in Murcia: Spanish police said Monday they had arrested 182 people who took part in a “national” cockfighting competition, an ancient sport that continues in some regions despite being banned. Officers seized around €300,000 ($344,000) during Saturday’s raid in the southern town of Sangonera La Verde in Murcia, police said in a statement.
Cockfighting is banned in Spain except in the regions of Andalusia and the Canary Islands, where it is allowed only in licensed circumstances after being considered a valuable cultural tradition dating back more than 500 years.
