Boris Johnson resignation- What happens now?: In the past, prime ministers choosing to step down have usually stayed in office until a successor is found. That means he would stay in office until the Conservatives choose a new leader, as his predecessors Theresa May and David Cameron did when they resigned.
– It’s been suggested that process could last until October, although it could be much shorter with the replacement of Theresa May as leader only taking two months. Former Conservative Prime Minister Sir John Major said it would be “unwise” for Mr Johnson to stay in office for three months.
– In his resignation statement Mr Johnson only said: “I’ve agreed with Sir Graham Brady, the chairman of our backbench MPs, that the process of choosing that new leader should begin now and the timetable will be announced next week.” Full article: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-62068930

Putin Ally Requests Permission to Join Ukraine War, Hunt ‘Blood Enemies’:
– Ramzan Kadyrov, leader of the Chechen Republic and a top ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, issued a passionate request for permission for his forces to enter Ukraine and join the war. In a lengthy Telegram post Wednesday, Kadyrov noted that Russia announced this week that it had fully “liberated” Ukraine’s Luhansk region. He said that while the victory over Ukraine “is undoubtedly a historic and fateful achievement,” the “special operation” in the country was far from over for Chechens.
– “We desperately hope that we will be given the opportunity to reach Kyiv, if necessary, and finish off the remnants of the terrorists who once escaped from the Chechen Republic,” he said, according to an English translation.
– Later in the post, Kadyrov again requested permission for Chechen forces to move into Ukraine to “get even with our blood enemies.”
– Russia’s capture of Luhansk has moved Putin closer to his goal of gaining full control of Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region. After weeks of intense fighting, the mayor of Severodonetsk, located in Luhansk, announced that the battleground city had been “fully occupied” by Russian troops. Despite these losses, Ukraine recently announced that it had recaptured Snake Island, pushing back against Russia’s assertions that it had withdrawn from the area as a “gesture of goodwill.” Full article: https://www.newsweek.com/ramzan-kadyrov-chechnya-requests-permission-join-ukraine-war-1722673

Metaverse Is Designed to Collect Ever More Info About Users: {DoctorLaptop}
– I have reviewed the latest info regarding Mark Zuckerberg’s Metaverse. It is now clear that one main purpose is to observe Metaverse users activities while in the virtual reality world, to extrapolate behaviors that can be added to the user’s “data profile”. This is another spying function, that adds value to the data about you that they provide to business partners, this time is is about your behavior and intimate fantasies. Very creepy! You can be sure they combine all this data about users to create a psychological profile; added to your tracked purchases, searches, medical app data and all other web activity and email/messenger content, they now know more about you than does your own mother.
– Imagine thinking you can do pretty much anything you want to do in the Metaverse, as it is a virtual reality fantasy. Do you want your fantasy activity, with absolutely no real connection to your real world activities, passed around to strangers looking for new ways to extract money from you? The Metaverse will be a treasure trove for more than just marketers; blackmailers will be able to record your Metaverse activities, and threaten to expose those naughty acts.

Irish DPC files draft order to halt Meta’s data transfers to US:
– On Thursday, the Irish Data Protection Commission sent a draft decision to its EU data protection authority counterparts in which it proposes to halt Facebook parent company Meta from transferring personal data from the EU to the U.S.
– If approved by the other DPAs, Meta-owned services Facebook and Instagram may be shuttered in the EU.
– In July 2020, the Court of Justice of the European Union invalidated the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework and cast a shadow over the use of standard contractual clauses in what’s commonly known as the “Schrems II” decision. In the wake of the CJEU decision, the Irish DPC initiated an “own volition” inquiry under Ireland’s Data Protection Act to consider whether Facebook’s data transfers to the U.S. were legal.
– With Shield’s invalidation, many companies, including Meta, relied on SCCs to complete data transfers. According to Politico, the Irish DPC’s “own volition” draft decision means Meta can no longer rely on SCCs to transfer data to the U.S. Full article: https://iapp.org/news/a/irish-dpc-files-draft-order-to-halt-metas-data-transfers-to-us/

As I Have Been Warning Readers for 10 Years- Professor Jorge Stolfi: ‘Technologically, bitcoin and blockchain technology is garbage’:
– In early May, Jorge Stolfi, a professor of computer science at the University of Campinas (Brazil), posted the following tweet in English: “Every computer scientist should be able to see that cryptocurrencies are totally dysfunctional payment systems and that “blockchain technology” (including “smart contracts”) is a technological fraud. Would they please say that out loud?” Stolfi now has 9,400 followers. Back then he had fewer. In the discreet world of computer science, the 2,000 retweets and 7,000 likes his message received were the equivalent of going viral.
– Stolfi was saying something that he had repeated before. In fact, he didn’t even see it as controversial. But in today’s so-called “crypto winter,” where the value of bitcoin has dropped from around €60,000 to €20,000 since November, gave his statement new relevance. The tweet was the driving force behind a letter that 1,500 specialists signed and delivered to US Congress: “Today, we write to you urging you to take a critical, skeptical approach toward industry claims that crypto-assets (sometimes called cryptocurrencies, crypto tokens, or web3) are an innovative technology that is unreservedly good.” Among the signatories were Harvard lecturer Bruce Schneier and Kelsey Hightower, principal engineer at Google Cloud. American Kennel Club adds a breed, the Bracco Italiano: The ancient Italian bird-hunting dog is the 200th member of the American Kennel Club’s roster of recognized breeds, the organization announced Wednesday. That means the handsome, powerful but amiable pointers can now go for best in show at many U.S. dog shows, including the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club event next year. The bracco (pronounced BRAH’-koh) goes back more than two millennia in Europe but wasn’t brought to the U.S. until the mid-1990s, according to the AKC. It’s sometimes called the Italian pointer or Italian pointing dog. Photo: AP. Full article: https://apnews.com/article/sports-dogs-dog-shows-972bd435723a2f55360827e3e321e353 & VIDEO LINK

SPAIN

The rise in prices triggers inequalities among Spaniards: The 13.2 million Spaniards who are at risk of social exclusion or already live directly below the poverty line, the largest number since the great crisis, are also the ones to whom inflation is passing the greatest bill. The products that have become more expensive are basic foods and energy, precisely those that make up the shopping basket of the poorest. This means that, while families with fewer resources have lost 14% of purchasing power compared to 2021, among those who earn more than 5,000 euros per month, the decrease in purchasing power remains at 11%. This means that inflation has weakened poor households 30% more than the rich. Full article: https://spainsnews.com/the-rise-in-prices-triggers-inequalities-among-spaniards/

Unions demand a salary increase and warn of a tense autumn of financial crisis and protests:
– CCOO and UGT have demonstrated on Wednesday in front of business organisations across the country to demand the maintenance of the purchasing power of wages, and have warned of an increase in social unrest after the summer if the CEOE employers’ organisation continues in its “closed-mindedness”.
Pepe Álvarez has accused Spanish companies of transferring inflation to prices in order to “earn in one year everything they could not earn with covid.” “They do it because they want to continue hoarding wealth for a few”, said the general secretary of the UGT, and has demanded that the employers distribute these benefits in the form of a salary increase for their workers.
– In addition to requesting a wage increase in collective agreements, the unions have expressed their intention to continue reviewing the Interprofessional Minimum Wage (SMI), which at the beginning of the year rose to 1,000 euros per month. Álvarez has insisted the SMI must be reviewed after six months, something that becomes more urgent in the current inflation situation, with the CPI at 10.2%, according to the advance data for June. ANDALUCIA

Saharan dust haze and high temperatures threaten the south of Spain again: The State weather agency, Aemet, has issued yellow and amber alerts as the mercury is expected to soar in parts of Andalucía on Thursday and Friday
– A new calima is expected in Malaga province again. Although an episode as virulent as the one that happened last March is not expected, the Saharan dust will once again flirt with the area. The weather maps show that it will be experienced mainly in the eastern part of the province, around Nerja and Vélez-Málaga.
– In Andalucía this latest episode of haze will be especially noticeable in Almeria province and on the coast of Granada, as it will travel along the coast from east to west until Thursday. NERJA

Nerja regulates the access of vehicles to the beaches of Maro, and enables bus, shuttle and car parks: {Translation}
– With the aim of improving safety conditions for users, Nerja Town Hall has regulated vehicle access to the beaches of Maro.
– “Due to the large number of visitors to the beach of Maro and La Caleta during the summer season, and the traffic problems caused by bad parking and occasional security problems, the Town Hall has regulated access, and has also set up a parking area and a shuttle bus,” explained Francisco Arce.
– He also informed that this limitation of vehicle access to the beach does not affect public transport or emergency services, as well as the owners and tenants of land in the area, who must go to the Local Police Headquarters to obtain authorisation.
– With regard to the public bus service, Francisco Arce detailed that “it will be in operation during the summer season, from 10.00 to 20.00 hours, at a price of 1.5 euros each way”.
– On the other hand, the councillor for Municipal Services, Gema García, reported that to facilitate parking, both for locals and visitors, a temporary parking area has been set up near the access control to the beaches, which will have space for more than 100 vehicles and will be managed by the Taller de la Amistad association. MALAGA

High inflation and low wages cause protests in Malaga: {Translation, summary} 06 July, 2022 – 18:09
– Sky-high inflation and low wages. The combination is horrible for the economy of any family, especially for those with fewer resources, and it is taking its toll on the middle classes as well. Going to the petrol station, shopping at the supermarket, to a restaurant, to a clothes shop or planning a trip has become a nightmare because for the same money you get far less goods. And you don’t even have to leave your home to take the hit. It comes in the electricity bill, the gas bill, the mortgage, the rent and it will come in the community fees.
– Social tension is growing and the first to take the first public step of protest have been the trade unions. They have organised this Wednesday a day of protest all over Spain with a slogan that leaves no room for doubt: Wage or Conflict. In the case of Malaga about 150 people, mostly belonging to CCOO and UGT, have gathered at the door of the Confederation of Employers of Malaga to demand wage increases to cope with the sharp increase in prices, which in June is at 10.2% year-on-year in the country according to the progress of the National Institute of Statistics.
– “We are very concerned about the situation of inflation we have and in the horizon we are facing with the war in Ukraine and the rise in the price of raw materials, fuel and energy,” said the secretary general of UGT in Malaga, Soledad Ruiz, who added that “there has been aid for families that we consider insufficient”. Ruiz stated that prices have risen by 25% in a key sector for the Malaga economy, such as the hotel and catering industry, and “we would like to draw attention to the fear that is being generated”. The maximum representative of UGT in Malaga has regretted that the Spanish employers rejected the wage review clause or “an absolutely reasonable three-year wage increase” requested by the unions. “It is a monumental mistake to have workers in a situation like this without there being wage agreements”, said Ruiz, who believes that “the time has come to limit prices and to propose new situations because we are not going to resign ourselves to the fact that the crisis will once again fall on the workers and conflict will increase”.
– The secretary for Employment and Training at CCOO in Malaga, María José Prados, stressed that the average wage in Malaga does not reach 17,000 euros per year and “we are seeing that there is significant speculation on prices because the big companies continue to make profits in this country”. The CCOO demands that companies that do not comply with collective agreements or that do not raise the minimum wage should not be able to access public aid.
– The situation is looking bleak and there are already many families who are having a really hard time. A report by the Consumers’ Organisation (OCU) published on Wednesday points out that one in four families is finding it difficult to cover their daily needs, 34% of citizens have no savings margin and that inflation is particularly affecting families with two or more dependent children, the unemployed, those living on rented accommodation and people aged between 45 and 59. UK

UK supermarket warning as potentially deadly superbug found in pork: Supermarket warnings have been issued as a potentially deadly superbug is found in British pork. Tests found more than 10% of sampled products resistant to antibiotic used to treat serious illnesses in humans. The probe discovered that some British pork has been infected with enterococci bacteria. The contaminated products included some pork sold under the “Red Tractor assured” label, it is claimed. But some organic lines were also impacted. This bacteria can be dangerous as it can cause issues such as urinary tract infections (UTIs), according to reports.

Boris Johnson rejects Scottish independence referendum request reveals Sturgeon: In what Sturgeon argued could be “one of his last acts as PM”, Johnson wrote a letter to her which revealed that he has rejected her request for powers to be devolved to the Scottish Government. In order to legally hold a referendum, the Scottish Parliament must be given the legislative authority to do so via a Section 30 Order. While Johnson denying the First Minister’s request is not unexpected, it does present a significant obstacle to independence.
– Sturgeon shared a copy of the letter written by the Prime Minister. In it, he states: “Thank you for your letter of 28 June, regarding Scottish independence. “I have carefully considered the arguments you set out for a transfer of power from the UK Parliament to the Scottish Parliament to hold another referendum on independence. As our country faces unprecedented challenges at home and abroad, I cannot agree that now is the time to return to a question, which was clearly answered by the people of Scotland in 2014.”

ENERGY CRISIS

Russia Shutting Two Major Oil Pipelines! We could be in for a very rough winter. Shortages of electricity, petrol, water & food are impending, as inflation exacerbates the problems. Could we see these necessities subject to rationing? Only time will tell…

Russian court suspends oil flows through Caspian pipeline: A Russian court ordered the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), which transports oil from Kazakhstan via one of the world’s largest pipelines, to suspend operations over paperwork on tackling oil spills, adding to international supply concerns. Full article: https://www.marketscreener.com/quote/stock/PUBLIC-JOINT-STOCK-COMPAN-13491337/news/Russian-court-suspends-oil-flows-through-Caspian-pipeline-40909544/

Russia is set to switch off the gas for work on a Nord Stream 1 pipeline – and Germany fears the worst:
– Russia is poised to temporarily shut down the Nord Stream 1 pipeline – the European Union’s biggest piece of gas import infrastructure – for annual maintenance. The works have stoked fears of further disruption to gas supplies that would undermine the bloc’s efforts to prepare for winter. Some fear the Kremlin could use planned maintenance works to turn off the taps for good. The summer maintenance activities on the pipeline, which runs under the Baltic Sea from Russia to Germany, are scheduled to take place from July 11 through to July 21.
– Analysts at political risk consultancy Eurasia Group agree. If supply “doesn’t come back after maintenance because President Putin plays games or wants to hit Europe while it hurts, then the plan to fill up gas storage by the end of summer will probably not work,” Henning Gloystein, director of energy, climate and resources at Eurasia Group, told CNBC via telephone.

Physicists see electron whirlpools for the first time: Long predicted but never observed, this fluid-like electron behavior could be leveraged for low-power next-generation electronics. “Electron vortices are expected in theory, but there’s been no direct proof, and seeing is believing,” says Leonid Levitov, professor of physics at MIT. “Now we’ve seen it, and it’s a clear signature of being in this new regime, where electrons behave as a fluid, not as individual particles.” Full article: https://news.mit.edu/2022/electron-whirlpools-physics-0706

Tell them you saw it on DigameXtra! Tell your favourite establishments to post on DigameXtra to get next-day publicity!

Bands & Acts: Please submit your gig promos. Your music is your business, you need to get as much exposure as possible, don’t rely on venues to promote you! If you have not noticed, Fakebook is slowly dying. Their traffic is down and their average user age continues to climb, as the younger crowd prefers other social media outlets like Snapchat and TikTok. Most FB posts by venues only have a few likes, if any at all, so obviously are not reaching many people. And it is the same few persons giving the likes week after week. DigameXtra sends out over 4440 email issues of fresh content everyday to subscribers, 1000+ people get it daily on various social media and the website gets another 800 to 2000 visits per day. That is way better exposure than you are getting in any FB posts!!! Entertainers get to post their shows for free as long as they are subscribed to this newsletter. What are you waiting for?

Halting Erosion Using Vetiver Grass from Vetiver Spain:
Vetiver Grass is a fast growing non-invasive clumping grass that grows to 2 metres in height. It has a root system that grows to 3-4 metres deep and they are very strong.
The National Geographic Magazine has called them “Roots of Steel”.
Once Vetiver is established it is drought resistant.
We are located in Sayalonga and we can plant all year round but February and March are the best months to plant Vetiver. Vetiver loves the heat of a long summer to get established.
Decomposing Vetiver used as a mulch, improves soil quality, keeps the weeds down and the insects away as it is a natural insect repellent. It is in the same family as Lemon Grass, which we also carry.
Vetiver also is a nutritious and replenishable animal feed. Horses, cattle, and pigs love it.
We use Vetiver along driveways and sidewalks. It also makes a great and inexpensive Ornamental hedge.

UK

2 key ministers quit Boris Johnson government: Treasury chief Rishi Sunak and Health Secretary Sajid Javid resigned within minutes of each other, costing Johnson the support of the men responsible for tackling two of the biggest issues facing Britain – the cost-of-living crisis and surging COVID-19 infections.
Both cited Johnson’s credibility after a day in which the prime minister was forced to backtrack on earlier statements about the scandal that has rattled his government for the past six days.
Johnson quickly named two loyalists to the positions: Steve Barclay got Javid’s old job, while Education Secretary Nadhim Zahawi replaces Sunak as Treasury chief, Downing Street said. Full article: https://www.pbs.org/newshour/world/2-key-ministers-quit-boris-johnson-government

EUROPE

EU Citizens Are Struggling to Prove Lawful Residence in UK Due to Settlement Scheme Issues: 246,000 European citizens and their families living in the United Kingdom have been waiting for over one year to have their documents proving they are lawfully residing in the country. The EU settlement scheme, which is aimed at the smooth transition from the United Kingdom leaving the EU, which comes with several restrictions for both Brits and Europeans. Without such documents, EU citizens living in the British territory struggle to get jobs, rent homes, travel abroad and get public health services, as they are considered to be residing in the country illegally.
And that is another broken promise from Priti Patel, a BREXIT supporter who took pride in a “hugely successful scheme so European citizens and their families can continue to call the UK home.” Full article: https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/news/eu-citizens-are-struggling-to-prove-lawful-residence-in-uk-due-to-settlement-scheme-issues/

TECH

Update Google Chrome now to protect yourself from an urgent security bug: Google posted a security update for its Chrome browser that fixes what’s known as a zero-day bug. The problem affects Chrome on Windows, Mac, and Android. It’s called “zero-day” because once a hacker detects the vulnerability, the software vendor essentially has “zero time” to patch it before it’s exploited. Google did not post a detailed explanation of how the exploit works, but will do so when the majority of people have updated, making the danger of further attacks less severe.
– Although details are scarce, the exploit is being used by hackers in the wild, so we recommend updating Chrome immediately. The exploit may allow arbitrary code execution on your desktop, which has the potential to give hackers full access to your PC.
– This is the fourth Chrome zero-day bug fixed this year, with previous fixes arriving in February, March, and April, signaling an increase in hacking attempts. It would be best to enable automatic Chrome updates while on the *About Chrome* page to get these problems taken care of as soon as possible.
– To update to the latest version of Google Chrome on Windows or Mac, open the app and click the three vertical dots at the top-right to see more options. In the Help menu, choose About Chrome to see information about the browser. In most cases, Chrome will automatically start the update process so that only a relaunch is required to finish the installation. If an update button appears, click it, then relaunch the app to finish and secure the browser from attacks. What is Substack?: {DigameXtra}
– You may have seen links to, or article quotes from Substack. Substack is a fairly new hosting service for blogs, similar to WordPress blogs. Substack has gained popularity with journalists banned from mainstream media (MSM), like whistle-blower Edward Snowden, as well as those who write articles on topics the MSM will not publish. Substack, while not without limits, does allow a vastly wider range of topics than permitted in the MSM.  Substack’s focus is to allow writers to get paid for their work, by hosting a system where blog subscribers may be charged for premium access and features like commenting, chat, etc. Basic, free viewing of Substack articles can be done via their Android/iPhone app.
– Substack does NOT verify blog content for accuracy, the authors are responsible for their content. So if you see a Substack blog/article referenced, the fact it comes from Substack does not lend it credibility. You are relying on the author, and the references provided in the article, to determine its trustworthiness.

Euro Tumbles to 20-Year Low, Putting Parity With Dollar in Sight:
The euro slid to the lowest level against the US dollar in two decades as investors grappled with the prospect of an energy crisis that risks tipping the region into a recession.
The common currency fell as much as 1.8% to $1.0235, its weakest level since December 2002, weighed down by the threat of gas shortages that could disrupt industrial activity across the region if Russia cuts off supplies. The Large Hadron Collider returns in the hunt for new physics:
The race to discover new physics returns today as the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is re-ignited, firing heavy ion particles into one another at 99.99% the speed of light to recreate a state of primordial matter not seen since just after the Big Bang.
The Large Hadron Collider is the world’s longest and most powerful particle accelerator, firing beams of subatomic particles around a 17-mile-long (27 kilometers) loop beneath the ground near Geneva, on the French-Swiss border. COVID & MONKEYPOX

Family doctors warn of Covid entering “the eighth wave” after “an almost phantom seventh”: {Translation} 4 Jul.
– The spokesman for the Spanish Society of General and Family Doctors, Lorenzo Armenteros, warned on Monday that we are entering “the eighth wave” of Covid-19 after “an almost phantom seventh wave”. “Although we do not have data on most of the positives, by coronavirus, because we only know the incidence in people over sixty, the cases we see in consultations, the new cases in young people and the cases that could be added from self-tests carried out by patients, we would be in an eighth wave,” Armenteros argued.
– An eighth wave because, he added, “we have gone through an almost phantom seventh wave, which disappeared because there was insufficient data, so epidemiologically we would be in an eighth wave”. “This peak that is occurring in the last two weeks could indicate that there is a new wave in the making and it is already beginning to rise,” the family doctors’ spokesman added.
– The doctor from Lugo has warned that “delegating safety to citizens is complicated because they are very tired, there is a pandemic fatigue and people want to enjoy the summer, the crowds, but this leads to a large number of infections,” he warns.
*VARIANTS*
– One aspect he stresses is that the “characteristics of the variants are different; B A-5 is very infectious and the symptoms are greater”. “The symptoms are more severe and require a visit to primary care clinics and a longer hospital stay. The variants are not the same and should not be treated in the same way,” he said.
Lorenzo Armenteros stressed the need to continue “using masks indoors, on public transport and in crowds”. Source, Spanish: https://www.infosalus.com/salud-investigacion/noticia-medicos-familia-alertan-entrada-octava-ola-covid-pasar-septima-casi-fantasma-20220704120245.html

– The reported cases come from Madrid 770, Catalonia 151, Andalusia 118, Canary Islands 46, Basque Country 22, Balearic Islands 22, Community of Valencia 18, Aragon 14, Galicia 7, Asturias 7, Castilla y la Mancha 7, Navarra 5, Castilla y León 3, Cantabria 3, Extremadura 2 and Murcia 1.
– Health has warned that there is a systematic delay in the notification of cases so the data corresponding to the last days may not be fully current.
– Clinical manifestations have been described in 468 cases. ENERGY CRISIS

Gas prices soar to 160 euros/MWh, twice as high as a month ago: {Translation} 04/07/2022 19:35h
– The price of natural gas on the Dutch TTF market, the benchmark for Europe, stands this Monday at around 160 euros per megawatt hour (MWh), which means returning to levels close to the highs recorded on 7 March (two weeks after the Russian invasion of Ukraine), when it reached 200 euros/MWh, and double the figures of early June, which stood at around 80 euros/MWh.
– Natural gas prices started the day at 151 euros and rose throughout the day to reach 164 euros/MWh at around 17:00, although at around 18:00 they eased slightly to 162.3 euros.
– This price increase has intensified since 13 June, when gas prices closed on the TTF at 84.76 euros/MWh, only to jump to 123.95 euros/MWh just three days later.
– The rise in the price comes at a time when the EU has agreed to impose a minimum gas reserve of 80% (Spain currently has a storage capacity of 72%) of the storage capacity of each country in the bloc for next autumn in order to guarantee energy security.
– Minister Teresa Ribera stressed that Spain must be “prepared” for a hypothetical total cut-off of Russian gas supplies, a threat that has already materialised with cuts in Poland, Bulgaria, Finland, the Netherlands and Denmark due to the refusal of their electricity operators to pay for gas contracts in roubles, as demanded by Russia. This decision was based on the need to avoid violating EU sanctions.
– Other factors that have influenced the rise in gas prices are the stoppage of the main gas liquefaction plant in the United States and the 40% cut in the supply that Gazprom, the main Russian gas company, sends through the Nord Stream pipeline.
– On 15 June, the so-called ‘Iberian mechanism’ came into force in Spain and Portugal, a measure that limits the price of gas for electricity production with the aim of lowering consumers’ bills.
– Since then, the Iberian Gas Market (Mibgas) publishes daily the price of natural gas to be applied to the electricity market. Thus, on the first day of application of the measure, the price of gas stood at 80 euros/MWh. However, since then it has been climbing and the price for this Tuesday will be 132.54 euros/MWh, i.e. 65.67% more than 21 days ago. HEALTH

The new drugs for treating obesity: Hormone-mimicking treatments that induce a sense of feeling full have helped obese patients achieve significant weight loss, but are not meant for crash dieters. Diabetes drugs such as liraglutide and semaglutide administered at higher doses have proven to be effective for weight loss. A clinical trial published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2021 showed that semaglutide resulted in an average weight loss of 15% in a group of nearly 2,000 patients, and a third of the study group lost more than 20% of their weight. The drug has been such a success in the United States that its manufacturer, Novo Nordisk, quickly ran out of supply shortly after its use for obesity was approved. The Spanish national health system will cover the cost of liraglutide and semaglutide when used to treat diabetes, but not for obesity. Recommendations & Requests

The Care Company: Endorse a hundred percent the praise that Helen from Cannillas de Albaida for the Care Company. Like Helen, my husband fractured his hip six months ago and when he was discharged from hospital I knew I could not give the care he needed. Fortunately a friend knew David and the Care Company, I contacted him and he was at our house waiting when the ambulance came from the hospital. He immediately knew what to do and provided all the care and equipment that we needed. The most important thing David and his team of carers did was to give me hope that Ian (my husband) would recover which he has. I call him ‘Captain Tom’ as he has to use a walker. In fact we still have ongoing care and support from the Care Company. Jill, Archez, caldwellsinspainATgmailD0Tcom

ANDALUCIA

Only 58% of Andalusians who have requested euthanasia have been able to receive it: {Translation, summary}
– A total of 19 Andalusians have asked the Health System for assistance in dying, of which only 11 have received it, almost 58 percent of the total, a year after the Organic Law for the Regulation of Euthanasia came into force and decriminalised assisted death in some circumstances.
– According to data provided to EFE by the Regional Ministry of Health, there are six requests that have been rejected and another two are pending resolution
– According to the president of the DMD, in primary care, which is the first place patients go to, professionals are “poorly trained and informed and most do not know what to do with the requests”. The DMD points out that these problems ultimately result in many applications “remaining in a drawer” and not reaching the Commission itself, so that the “already lengthy process” established by the law “sometimes fester” and applications are not processed. AXARQUIA

Avocado trees chopped down as Axarquía growers face ‘catastrophe’: The regional government has already reduced the irrigation water quota by half and there are fears of further cuts as the area’s drought situation worsens. The complicated situation being experienced by the subtropical sector due to the persistent drought in the Axarquía is already forcing dozens of growers to cut down trees. They fear that the next harvest, which will begin in November, could produce only 50 per cent of the current crop if there are further cuts and no rain. Photo: E. Cabezas. TECH

Microsoft Warns About Evolving Capabilities of Toll Fraud Android Malware Apps: Toll fraud belongs to a category of billing fraud wherein malicious mobile applications come with hidden subscription fees, roping in unsuspecting users to premium content without their knowledge or consent.
“It also, by default, uses cellular connection for its activities and forces devices to connect to the mobile network even if a Wi-Fi connection is available,” Dimitrios Valsamaras and Sang Shin Jung of the Microsoft 365 Defender Research Team said in an exhaustive analysis. (If using an Android device on wifi, and starting an app switched you to the mobile phone data connection, this may be the reason. -Ed.)
“Once the connection to a target network is confirmed, it stealthily initiates a fraudulent subscription and confirms it without the user’s consent, in some cases even intercepting the one-time password (OTP) to do so.”
Such apps are also known to suppress SMS notifications related to the subscription to prevent the victims from becoming aware of the fraudulent transaction and unsubscribing from the service. Full article: https://thehackernews.com/2022/07/microsoft-warns-about-evolving.html

PETS

Pet Blood Scam- Spanish prosecutors and animal protection officials shut down a fake veterinarian’s lucrative animal blood business:
– An employee at the crematorium in Yuncos (Toledo, Spain) was getting suspicious about the man who was dropping off so many dead dogs every 15 days. He started asking questions and soon everyone saw what Luis Miguel V. F. had been hiding for almost 20 years. He was running an illegal animal blood bank supplied by animals he allegedly drained to death. Prosecutors and Civil Guard officials from its animal protection agency (Servicio de Protección de la Naturaleza – SEPRONA) say that these “cruel” deaths were happening on the suspect’s farm in Humanes de Madrid (Spain), where SEPRONA rescued 257 dogs and cats in mid-June.
– The animal blood market is small but lucrative. There are no public blood banks for dogs and cats like there are for humans, so a handful of private companies collect donated blood and sell it to veterinary clinics. This is the market the suspect exploited as he built a small empire with dozens of domestic and international clients. Civil Guard officials think that at least 500 animals died in the suspect’s Veterinary Transfusion Center, as his company was called. MOONETTE – Organic Skincare for Mature Skin

We are a Torrox-based company specialising in the creation of formulae which help prevent premature skin ageing. We are committed to making effective products at affordable prices.
Your skin health matters to us. How you feed your skin is as important as how you feed your body. Why settle for anything less than natural and organic?
As our skin is the first layer of our defence against microbial infections, ultraviolet radiation and environmental contamination it plays a vital role in our health. COVID & MONKEYPOX

Andalucia Update {Translation} 01/07/2022 12:05
COVID: On Friday, Andalusia has 606 people admitted to hospital due to Covid. This is 33 more than last Tuesday and also means that the figure breaks the ceiling of 600, which was reached weeks ago. Hospital pressure is rising, although with much less force than the number of infections.
– The increase in the number of patients can also be seen in the ICUs. This Friday, 35 Andalusians are in intensive care for coronavirus, ten more than at the beginning of this week.
– However, this increase in healthcare pressure has nothing to do with what has occurred at other times during the pandemic. In fact, there is a clear decoupling of the increase in infections and the growth in the number of patients admitted for Covid. Until now, when cases exceeded 6,000 in each report, admissions skyrocketed. This is not the case now.
– In fact, the Consejería de Salud reports this Friday 6,988 Covid-19 infections, the highest figure in weeks. And yet, the hospitals are only above 600, when at other times there have been as many as 5,000 hospital admissions, 700 of them in the ICU.
– The increase in the number of infections and hospitalised patients is also not reflected in the number of deaths. The number of deaths is 30 this Friday, in line with the number of deaths in the last month and far from the more than 100 deaths per day that occurred in Andalusia last year after Christmas. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 14,291 people have died in Andalusia.
MONKEYPOX: Meanwhile, cases of monkeypox are being contained. This Friday, according to data from the Regional Ministry of Health, there are 110 confirmed cases compared to 99 last Tuesday. After the number of people affected by this bacterial infection has increased by the dozens, transmission now seems to be slowing down. In any case, it should be noted that Andalusia has 8.4 million inhabitants and only 104 cases of monkeypox. According to data from the Junta, the majority of cases are still in Malaga, with 60 cases. This is followed by Granada, with 19, and Seville, with 12. – According to ECDC and WHO figures, the majority (76.1%) of cases are five years old or younger. Of the 473 probable cases, 302 have information available on clinical outcome. Of these, 221 have recovered, 80 are still under medical care and one death has been associated with the disease.
– Of the 295 cases for which information is available, 87 (29.5%) required admission to an intensive care unit. Football News- FIFA OKs sensor ball and semi-automatic offside tracking for the 2022 World Cup: FIFA World Cup 2022 will feature an updated VAR (video assistant referee) system known as semi-automated offside technology, the international soccer governing body announced today. SAOT will replace the old (and still controversial) VAR system that FIFA first debuted at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. The new system features 12 stadium cameras that will track the positioning of both the ball and each individual player, including 29 different data points on each player’s limbs and extremities. On top of that, a ball outfitted with a motion sensor will be used in each match, which will deliver live data on a player’s position at the time it’s kicked. FIFA believes that SOAT will help match officials make faster and more accurate decisions on offside calls. Seven Pirate IPTV Operators in Spain Sentenced to Almost Nine Years in Prison For Fraud: Seven people behind a pirate IPTV and card-sharing operation have been sentenced to prison for fraud offenses. Two leaders of the network received 44-month prison sentences and the other five were ordered to serve between 9 to 18 months. After the defendants gave up around one million euros of the amount they generated from the fraud, a court suspended their custodial sentences.
One reportedly operated the ‘logistics center’ from his home in Zamora, carrying out tasks such as IPTV panel management and the servicing of users via online messaging. A second man from Salamanca was the administrator of a service that redirected users to streams enabling illegal access to sports content, movies and TV shows. Five other members, responsible for distributing the infringing subscriptions to customers, operated from Córdoba, Valencia (x3) and Málaga. These individuals were considered important players but not as crucial as the men in Zamora and Salamanca. SATURDAY RECIPE

How to Make Acorn Flour: Acorn flour is one of the most practical (and versatile) wild foraged flours available. Processing acorns into flour takes patience and work, but it’s downright delicious.
The best acorns to harvest are those that you can gather in quantity because you’re going to need at least a few gallons of nuts to make a meaningful amount of flour. White or red, it really doesn’t matter. Full method with pics of each step

Canadian rocker Randy Bachman reunited with stolen guitar after 45 years: Guitar legend Randy Bachman’s long search came to an end Friday when he was reunited in Tokyo with a cherished guitar 45 years after it was stolen from a Toronto hotel. “My girlfriend is right there,” said Bachman, 78, a former member of The Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive. The Gretsch guitar on which he wrote “American Woman” and other hits was handed to him by a Japanese musician who had bought it at a Tokyo store in 2014 without knowing its history.
He said all guitars are special, but the orange 1957 Gretsch 6120 Chet Atkins he bought as a teenager was exceptional. He worked at multiple jobs to save money to buy the $400 guitar, his first purchase of an expensive instrument, he said. SPAIN

Spain joins other EU countries warning of the risk of not having enough gas next winter: The amount of gas in Spain might not be sufficient to supply businesses and homes the government has warned. Teresa Ribera, the Spanish Minister of the Environment, has stressed in Congress today, Thursday, June 30, the need to “strengthen national contingency plans and strengthen savings policies, and propose measures for the hypothetical case that it is necessary to prioritise the availability of energy resources among consumers”.
– Her warning comes after months of the Government assuring that the energy situation in Spain was not as critical as in central and eastern European countries due to its lower dependence on Russian gas. Ms Ribera basically highlighted the fact that there is not enough gas to supply everyone, and that decisions will have to be made between supplying businesses or homes. Spain will receive 7,700 million more from European funds for having suffered a greater than expected impact of the pandemic:
{Translation, summary}
– 7,706 million euros more than expected for Spain. Why? Because the impact of the crisis caused by the coronavirus has been deeper and more prolonged than expected. The European Commission updated its calculations on Thursday using Eurostat data. It initially distributed the transfer and grant part of the 750 billion package of recovery funds among the 27 EU member states. In other words, it distributed 70% of the 337.969 billion euros. It left the distribution of the remaining 30 per cent for later. In total, Spain was supposed to receive 69.528 billion euros in transfers and subsidies. But, according to data published by Brussels on Thursday, the amount rises to 77,234,071 million euros. In other words: 7,706 million euros more than expected. Germany will allow the change of sex with simple visit to the civil registry, 14 year olds will not need parental consent: The government coalition, made up of Social Democrats (SPD), Greens and Liberals (FDP), has reached an agreement to renew and reform the so-called Transsexuality Law of 1980 and make the procedures as easy as possible for those interested, who will be able to change their name and sex in the civil registry on a voluntary basis, without even needing to submit sexual identity reports or medical certificates.
– Although the majority of the citizens of this country identify with the sex they have since birth, there are people who decide on another sexual identification such as intersex, non-binary or transgender. The first have a sex that does not conform to the medical norm of male or female bodies, the second consider that they have neither of the two identities and the third feel that they do not belong to the sex that was attributed to them at birth.
– For those under 14 years of age, it will be their parents or guardians who present the application in the civil registry and in the case of those over that age and those who have not reached the age of majority, the will of those affected will prevail over that of their parents.
– Germany will now join Switzerland, Ireland, Belgium, Portugal, Spain and Norway as one of the few countries on the continent that allow a person to legally change gender without hormone therapy, medical diagnosis or further evaluation or bureaucratic steps.

TikTok Acused of Being Unacceptable National Security Risk – U.S. FCC Commissioner Asks Apple and Google to Remove TikTok from App Stores: TikTok, in September 2021, disclosed that there are one billion people who use its app every month, making it one of the largest social media platforms after Facebook, YouTube, WhatsApp, Instagram, and WeChat.
Brendan Carr, a Republican member of the FCC emphasized that the short-form video service is far from just an app for sharing funny videos or memes, calling out its features as “sheep’s clothing” intended to mask its core function as a “sophisticated surveillance tool” for amassing users’ personal information. Israeli lawmakers dissolve parliament, election set for November 1:
Israeli lawmakers dissolved parliament on Thursday, forcing the country’s fifth election in less than four years, with Foreign Minister Yair Lapid set to take over as caretaker prime minister at midnight.
The final dissolution bill, which passed with 92 votes in favour and none against, ends the year-long premiership of Naftali Bennett, who led an eight-party coalition that was backed by an Arab party, a first in Israeli history. Recommendations & Requests

Recommendation for SPW Construction: We’ve had recourse to SPW – Scott Wilson and his team – on several occasions for various jobs, which have all given us satisfaction beyond expectations.
The first time, was in regard to a problem of rising damp that no less than 3 other so-called professionals attempted to repair, but couldn’t. Scott did the job – over two years ago – the results were brilliant, and haven’t altered since then, damp spots, dark green mold all gone forever.
This time we had to replace our fiberglass swimming pool. Scott arranged for everything: purchase of the new pool; delivery with a special crane; tiling; all materials and labour. It was quite a job, but we were basking in the hot sun and crystal-clear water two days ahead of schedule!
Needless to say, my wife and I highly recommend SPW, which means Scott P. Wilson….we prefer to say: “Some People Work.”

Taxi: Hello Digamites, I am looking for recommendations for taxi company I can book in advance to meet family arriving at Malaga airport from England (2 people) and bringing them to our house in Torre del Mar. A return taxi may also be necessary a few days later. Thanks in anticipation Kerry / Torre del Mar

Recommendation: The Care Company. I want to recommend The Care Company based in Competa. During the calima I fell and cracked my pelvis and shattered my arm. When I came out of hospital I needed carers and contacted David Zoodashna who was very helpful. He is bilingual and has English and Spanish carers. They provided a wheelchair and all the other things I needed to make life easier. Apart from my personal needs they did the household chores and shopping etc and he acted for me with the health service.
They are all unfailingly cheerful and efficient. For hourly care they cover Axarquia and for full time 24 hour care the whole of Spain. They have been a godsend and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Contact David 657969710

SPAIN

Consumer Price Index in Spain jumps to 10.2% in June, the highest figure since 1985: Inflation continues to be one of the greatest headaches for the Spanish government. After ending May at 8.7%, four points higher than in April, the Consumer Price Index for June stands at 10.2%, the highest rate since April 1985. The rise in fuel, food and non-alcoholic drinks, and increased charges at hotels, cafés and restaurants are the main cause.
– The figure is higher than all market forecasts and places the economy and the government in an awkward position as the measures taken so far to alleviate the rising cost of living appear to have had no impact on inflation.
– The data for June has been released in advance and does not detail the cost of individual products. However, in May it was obvious how much these had gone up. The price of vegetable oil had risen by nearly 45% compared with a year before, bread was 12.6% more expensive, eggs had gone up by 25% and cereals 16%. The pandemic increased poverty to 21.7% of the population, the highest figure in the last five years: The population living below the poverty line last year, with income data from 2020, rose to 21.7%. More than one in five people in Spain. This is the highest figure in the last five years, since 2016, with an increase that, however, is not as pronounced as that which occurred in the last financial crisis. Child poverty increases to 28.9% from 27.4% previously. The rest of the indicators, such as the material shortage or the difficulty in reaching the end of the month, do refer to 2021 and one piece of information stands out above all: the maximum in the historical series of energy poverty last year, with 14.3% of the population in homes that cannot maintain an adequate temperature at home. The PP party criticizes that a minor of 12 years “is prohibited from smoking, drinking and driving” but is now allowed “to proceed with a sex change”: {Translation in full}
– The deputy secretary of Social Policies of the Popular Party, Carmen Navarro, has criticised this Wednesday the new “Trans and LGTBI People’s Rights Law” recently approved by the Government in the Council of Ministers, claiming that the text implies an “absolute lack of protection for minors from the age of 12”.
– “A minor under 18 years of age is prohibited from smoking, drinking and driving, but can go to the Civil Registry and the Gender units to change their sex”, the PP leader denounced in the colloquium ‘Ganas de Orgullo’ organised by Nuevas Generaciones, in which the party’s Secretary of Culture, Jaime de los Santos, and the national president of NNGG, Beatriz Fanjul, also took part.
– According to Navarro, the new draft of the Trans Law “will generate great concern among many parents” and he stressed the responsibility of the public authorities to protect minors “to prevent them from making decisions that cannot be reversed”. “Our party is firmly committed to the protection of minors. The PP believes that the best interests of minors must prevail at all times. And, in this project, this is not effective”, she pointed out.
– The ‘popular’ leader has defended that the PP is “the party of freedom”, which is why it will protect and defend the freedom of “all people, whatever they feel, whoever they love and whoever they love”, according to a press release from the party led by Alberto Núñez Feijóo.
– In this context, Navarro reiterated that the PP will continue to “protect and improve the rights of LGTBI people”, while rejecting “any act of hatred, violence, xenophobia or persecution”.
– He also accused Pedro Sánchez’s government of legislating “at the stroke of a holiday (Pride month) and only thinking of taking care of the demands of his most radical partners”, without taking into account the criticisms of the General Council of the Judiciary or waiting for the report of the Council of State on the law promoted by the Ministry of Equality.
– He also assured that the head of the Executive “is only interested in the impact of his announcements and satisfying Podemos in order to preserve the coalition government” and reminded that the Trans Law “does not have the consensus of feminists or the backing of the PSOE” “At least, not of the traditional PSOE prior to Pedro Sánchez”, he clarified.
– Navarro assured that the PP is against gender self-determination “because of the legal insecurity that the sole requirement of one’s own will implies”, without any other procedure and because, in her opinion, “it makes women invisible and is a step backwards in their rights”.
– Finally, she explained that the bill “contains provisions that contradict the fundamental right to equality” contained in article 14 of the Constitution, “generating situations of positive and therefore indirect discrimination of all non-transsexual women”. ANDALUCIA

The Board will not be able to guarantee the quality of the service of the Pascual hospitals: {Translation}
– Facua spokesman Jesús Yesa regrets that the Junta de Andalucía has not yet been  informed of the terms of the million-dollar agreement signed with Pascual. But he is not surprised, in any case, that it has been extended to include, once again, the San Rafael clinic in Cadiz, because “the PP has not deceived anyone, it has enshrined the privatisation of the public health system because it is its management model”, although he recalls that the PSOE was the party that first signed the contract with this firm.
– Yesa considers that “it will mean a loss of users’ rights because the Regional Ministry of Health does not have a sufficient number of inspectors (it only has three in the province and would need 250) or other means to control the provision of services in Pascual’s hospitals, so this will depend on the will of this company”.
– For this reason, the consumer organisation recommends to users that every time they are treated in one of its centres, “they should demand a report detailing, among other aspects, all the care they have received, as well as duly identifying the doctors who have treated them, indicating their full name, professional category and speciality”.
– Facua also reminds that, in the event of any incident at the time of being treated, at any facility, you should file a complaint. If they do not have a complaint book available, as required by law, immediately call the local police and request assistance.
– Finally, Facua reminds that “despite the Junta’s decision to privatise health care in Cadiz, users have the right to free choice of specialist doctor and hospital”, so that the health centre should inform them of the options available to them without forcing them to go to a private centre in Pascual. GRANADA

A tractor-trailer march through Granada in protest at the price of diesel and electricity: {Translation, summary}
– A caravan of tractors, some 400 according to the organisers, began a march through the streets of Granada on Wednesday to protest against the “abusive” prices of fuel and electricity under the slogan “The price of diesel, the ruin of the countryside”.
– The protesters denounce the “exorbitant” rise in agricultural diesel, which is currently at an average of 1.63 euros per litre with peaks of 1.78 at some pumps, as well as the escalation of the electricity bill which has not been contained despite the latest measures taken by the Government. CORDOBA

Medina Azahara adds a dramatised itinerary to night visits: {Translation}
– The Medina Azahara Archaeological Ensemble, in Cordoba, has added “a new attraction to the usual night visits” to the ancient Caliphate citadel of the tenth century, through the possibility of “enjoying a dramatised itinerary for summer nights on Fridays and Saturdays, between 2 July and 10 September, with two daily shows, between 20.45 and 22.00 hours and from 22.15 to 23.30 hours.
– On this occasion, as reported by the Junta de Andalucía in a note, the dramatised activity will take visitors to the ancient palatine city “on a journey through time around the year 967, during the reign of al-Hakam II, where a chief of the guard, Abu Amir, will accompany and escort us throughout the dramatised visit”.
– The aim of this activity is to “bring to life some of the most emblematic areas of Medina Azahara, where we will be able to meet different characters who will tell us about and show us these places”. In fact, during the tour “visitors will be welcomed by the army general Qasim Ibn Tumlus, in the Upper Basilical Hall, where he will explain the importance of this place as the nerve centre of the administration and military organisation of the Caliphate”.
– The visit will continue afterwards and “a stop will be made at the House of Ja’far, where we will meet the vizier and trusted man of the caliph, who will let us know what his tasks, functions and concerns were”.
– Furthermore, during this unique journey through the Alcazar of the Caliphate city, “as well as enjoying the explanations of our guide Abu Amir, we will have the opportunity to understand the magnitude and importance of Medina Azahara, thanks to our meeting with one of the palace servants, who will tell us about a complex network of essential maintenance tasks, which, in addition to the political and administrative tasks, were carried out in the court of the Caliph”.
– These dramatised night-time visits to Medina Azahara will take place twice a night every Friday and Saturday in July, August and September, in the latter case until the 10th, with an estimated duration of one hour and 15 minutes each and with a limited capacity of 30 people per visit. Participation in this activity is free and open to anyone interested, subject to prior registration, through the ARES Booking System. 2-time Wimbledon champ Murray loses to Isner in 2nd round:
Unable to overcome big John Isner’s big serves, the way he always has in the past, the revered Murray lost in the second round to the 20th-seeded American 6-4, 7-6 (4), 6-7 (3), 6-4 on Wednesday night at the All England Club, capping a disappointing afternoon and evening in the grass-court Grand Slam tournament’s main stadium for the locals. Serena Williams loses at Wimbledon in 1st match in a year: Returning to the site of her last singles match, which she had to stop after less than a set because of an injury on June 29, 2021, and seven of her major championships, the 40-year-old Williams came within two points of victory. FINANCIAL

The Euribor is close to 1% in June, its highest level in a decade:
– As a result of this increase, the installments of variable mortgages that have to be reviewed with this data will become more expensive again. In the case of an average mortgage of 150,000 euros, for 25 years and interest at Euribor plus 1%, the loan installment will increase by more than 1,400 euros per year.
– The estimates are not at all flattering. The 12-month Euribor will end 2022 this year at 1.90% and will shoot up to 2.20% in 2023, according to the latest Bankinter estimates contained in its strategy report for the third quarter.

Regulated natural gas rates rise 10.4% on average as of Friday:
– Natural gas rates (TUR) will rise by an average of 10.4% from July 1, according to the quarterly review carried out by the Ministry for Ecological Transition. This data contrasts with the figures which refer to increases in annual bills of between 6.41% and 8.44%.
-Thus, TUR 1, for annual consumption of less than 5,000 kWh (households that only use natural gas for cooking or heating water), will increase by 9.7%; TUR 2, for annual consumption between 5,000 kWh and 15,000 kWh (in addition to using natural gas for cooking or heating water, they also have heating), 10.4%; and TUR 3, with annual consumption between 15,000 kWh and 50,000 kWh (households with large consumption and businesses), another 11%, according to the prices published today in the BOE.
In the previous review on April 1, rates also went up another 10% on average. Full article: https://spainsnews.com/regulated-natural-gas-rates-rise-10-4-on-average-as-of-friday/

The new football pitch in El Morche will be a large sports complex in an extensive green space: {Translation, summary}
– The plenary session of Torrox Town Council on Tuesday gave the go-ahead to the project for the construction of the new sports park in Santa Rosa which will house the new football pitch in El Morche, which has been demanded by the local residents for decades and is now closer to becoming a reality. The approved document, drawn up by the company Ingeniería Celdrán S.L., envisages the construction of a large sports complex with sports courts, stands, changing rooms and underground car parks, as well as a commercial area, all within an extensive green space. In total, almost 27,000 square metres will be built in two phases, each of which will take 12 months to complete, with an investment of around nine million euros.
– The mayor, Óscar Medina, said that once the plenary has given the go-ahead to the project, the works will go out to tender immediately “because it is time that, despite the obstacles that have been put in our way by the opposition, the coast sees one of its historical demands become a reality and to which I committed myself from day one”. Extra bus services between some inland villages and the Malaga coast this summer: More bus services are to be laid on by the Malaga Metropolitan Transport Consortium during the summer so people from some inland towns and villages can get to beaches, shopping centres and leisure centres on the coast at Benalmádena, Torremolinos and Malaga. The Six Easiest Countries for Securing EU Residency: European Union residency comes with a lot of benefits. Not only that a foreign citizen residing in an EU country enjoys the benefits that the country he/she lives in offers, but the same also enjoy the benefits offered by the EU as a bloc. A resident of any of the EU countries, amongst others, is eligible to travel freely throughout the borderless Schengen Area, most often without even having to present documentation when passing from one country to another. Residency in any of the EU countries usually leads to the EU citizenship of that same country. Once one gains citizenship, he/she can then move to any other EU country and settle there.

France Planning to Set Up a Border Health Pass Requirement, Leaked Draft Bill Reveals: The French government is planning to put in place a scheme that obliges travellers to present proof of vaccination against COVID-19, recovery from the virus, or negative test results upon arrival at the borders of France, and the same would presumably be valid until the end of March 2023.
– A leaked draft law published by the French media Atlantico, the authenticity of which has later been confirmed by the French Ministry of Health, shows that the country is planning to set up a border scheme through which travellers over the age of 12 reaching the territory of France, Corsica and overseas territories would have to show proof they are immune to COVID-19. Ghislaine Maxwell sentenced to 20 years in prison for helping Jeffrey Epstein sexually abuse girls: Prosecutors said Epstein, who killed himself in 2019 while awaiting trial, sexually abused children hundreds of times over more than a decade, and couldn’t have done so without the help of Maxwell, his longtime companion and onetime girlfriend. In December, a jury convicted Maxwell of sex trafficking, transporting a minor to participate in illegal sex acts and two conspiracy charges. Prosecutors called Maxwell’s shifting of blame to Epstein “absurd and offensive.”
– U.S. District Judge Alison J. Nathan, who also imposed a $750,000 fine, said “a very significant sentence is necessary” and that she wanted to send an “unmistakable message” that these kinds of crimes would be punished. Prosecutors had asked the judge to give her 30 to 55 years in prison, while Maxwell’s defense sought a lenient sentence of just five years. TECH

BBVA BANK USER ALERT– New Android Banking Trojan ‘Revive’ Targeting Users of Spanish Financial Services:
(This malware sends you “phishing” emails or messages, pretending to be BBVA, and asks you to install or update their banking app. If you do so, you get infected, and the scammer gets every keystroke you make, including your banking log-in credentials, and will intercept any security codes sent to you for “2 Factor Authentication” log-ins they would need to access your account. You won’t be able to tell the legit app from the fake one. So if you have downloaded and installed the BBVA banking app in the past few months as the result of a prompt you received by email/message, it may be best to do the following. Uninstall it. Then fully shut down and restart. Then run a FULL malware scan with your antivirus app to remove all traces of malware. If you don’t have one installed, install the antivirus app linked below, and use that. Then go visit the BBVA website and download/install a new copy of their app. -Ed.)
– A previously unknown Android banking trojan has been discovered in the wild, targeting users of the Spanish financial services company BBVA. Said to be in its early stages of development, the malware – dubbed Revive by Italian cybersecurity firm Cleafy – was first observed on June 15, 2022 and distributed by means of phishing campaigns.
– Revive is mainly engineered to harvest the bank’s login credentials through the use of lookalike pages and facilitate account takeover attacks. It also incorporates a keylogger module to capture keystrokes and the ability to intercept SMS messages received on the infected devices, primarily one-time passwords and 2FA codes sent by the bank.
– “When the victim opens the malicious app for the first time, Revive asks to accept two permissions related to the SMS and phone calls,” the researchers said. “After that, a clone page (of the targeted bank) appears to the user and if the login credentials are inserted, they are sent to the scammers.”
– The findings once again underscore the need to exercise caution when it comes to downloading apps from third-party untrusted sources. Full article: https://thehackernews.com/2022/06/new-android-banking-trojan-revive.html

Hauliers vote against a new strike for the time being: The result of the vote by associations of haulage firms linked to the group (Plataforma para la Defensa del Sector del Transporte) that called the strike last March, was 41 per cent in favour and 45 per cent against, with 14% abstentions.
Hauliers, therefore, favour further negotiations with the government, before potentially throwing part of the distribution sector into turmoil as they did in March. They are now waiting for the government to respond to their requests to apply the food chain law which prevents them working at a loss, which is the sector’s greatest problem. Infoca works on a fire in Lanjarón: {Translation} Infoca firefighters are working on Monday to extinguish a fire that broke out in the municipality of Lanjarón (Granada) at around 11.00 a.m. and for which two aerial vehicles were initially used, which have now been withdrawn from the area, where work continues with ground vehicles. Initially, two ground loading aircraft, a transport and extinguishing helicopter, a fire-fighting vehicle, an operations technician, an environmental agent and two groups of forest firefighters were deployed to the area. The favourable evolution of the fire has now allowed the withdrawal of the aerial means and at present nine forest firefighters, a fire engine and an environmental agent are working on the ground. NATO to grow high-readiness forces to 300,000, ‘biggest overhaul’ since Cold War: In the largest military buildup since the Cold War, NATO plans to boost its high-readiness forces to 300,000 in response to Russia’s war in Ukraine. NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg made the announcement Monday, one day before U.S. President Joe Biden heads to a NATO summit in Madrid.
– The NATO summit will be “transformative, with many important decisions, including on a new strategic concept for a new security reality, a fundamental shift in NATO’s deterrence and defense, and support to Ukraine now and for the future,” Stoltenberg said Monday.
– The NATO chief also announced plans to shore up NATO’s eastern flank nearer Russia by boosting NATO’s quick-response forces by 650%. The force would grow from 40,000 to 300,000 as part of the “biggest overhaul of our collective defense and deterrence since the Cold War.” Photo: Paul Hanna/UPI. Italy Data Protection Authority Warns Websites Against Use of Google Analytics:
– Following the footsteps of Austria and France, the Italian Data Protection Authority has become the latest regulator to find the use of Google Analytics to be non-compliant with E.U. data protection regulations.
– The Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali, in a press release published last week, called out a local web publisher for using the widely used analytics tool in a manner that allowed key bits of users’ personal data to be illegally transferred to the U.S. without necessary safeguards. This data includes interactions of users with the websites, the individual pages visited, IP addresses of the devices used to access the websites, browser specifics, details related to the device’s operating system, screen resolution, and the selected language, as well as the date and time of the visits.
– Earlier this month, the French data protection watchdog, the CNIL, issued updated guidance over the use of Google Analytics, reiterating the practice as illegal under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) laws and giving affected organizations a period of one month to comply. FINANCIAL

Who can collect the new aid of 200 euros announced by the Spanish  Government?: This Monday the decree / law was approved to offer the aid of 200 euros to individuals with low income and assets. The measure was announced this Saturday and has the objective of alleviating the effects of the price increase caused by the energy crisis derived from the invasion of Ukraine.
– Those people who in 2021 had an income of less than 14,000 euros per year, and had assets of less than 43,196.40 euros per year, will be able to benefit from it. Income will be calculated per household, so the sum of the residents’ income must not exceed the established limits in the BOE. BONEHEAD AWARD- The school where boys can wear skirts – but not shorts: Parents have hit out at new school uniform rules which mean that in hot weather boys can wear skirts – but not shorts. The changes in policy at Wymondham High Academy follow complaints from families that boys were being forced to wear trousers during the summer term, when temperatures can soar.
– The school agreed to review the regulations, but rather than permitting shorts it introduced a ‘gender neutral’ policy, permitting boys and girls to wear trousers or skirts – and neither to wear shorts. Jonathan Rockey, the school’s headteacher, defended the new policy as “something we are very proud of” and said it had involved consultation with families.
– The new uniform policy, triggered by the previous complaints, was introduced after more than 400 parents took part in a survey, with a large number calling for a ‘summer uniform’ to be introduced.
– However, the exercise to date produced has just two changes – allowing boys and girls to wear trousers or skirts, and requiring girls to wear ties as well as boys. Photo: Denise Bradley. Full article: https://www.edp24.co.uk/news/education/wymondham-high-academy-school-uniform-policy-9096714
