Boris Johnson resignation- What happens now?: In the past, prime ministers choosing to step down have usually stayed in office until a successor is found. That means he would stay in office until the Conservatives choose a new leader, as his predecessors Theresa May and David Cameron did when they resigned.
– It’s been suggested that process could last until October, although it could be much shorter with the replacement of Theresa May as leader only taking two months. Former Conservative Prime Minister Sir John Major said it would be “unwise” for Mr Johnson to stay in office for three months.
– In his resignation statement Mr Johnson only said: “I’ve agreed with Sir Graham Brady, the chairman of our backbench MPs, that the process of choosing that new leader should begin now and the timetable will be announced next week.” Full article: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-62068930

Putin Ally Requests Permission to Join Ukraine War, Hunt ‘Blood Enemies’:
– Ramzan Kadyrov, leader of the Chechen Republic and a top ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, issued a passionate request for permission for his forces to enter Ukraine and join the war. In a lengthy Telegram post Wednesday, Kadyrov noted that Russia announced this week that it had fully “liberated” Ukraine’s Luhansk region. He said that while the victory over Ukraine “is undoubtedly a historic and fateful achievement,” the “special operation” in the country was far from over for Chechens.
– “We desperately hope that we will be given the opportunity to reach Kyiv, if necessary, and finish off the remnants of the terrorists who once escaped from the Chechen Republic,” he said, according to an English translation.
– Later in the post, Kadyrov again requested permission for Chechen forces to move into Ukraine to “get even with our blood enemies.”
– Russia’s capture of Luhansk has moved Putin closer to his goal of gaining full control of Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region. After weeks of intense fighting, the mayor of Severodonetsk, located in Luhansk, announced that the battleground city had been “fully occupied” by Russian troops. Despite these losses, Ukraine recently announced that it had recaptured Snake Island, pushing back against Russia’s assertions that it had withdrawn from the area as a “gesture of goodwill.” Full article: https://www.newsweek.com/ramzan-kadyrov-chechnya-requests-permission-join-ukraine-war-1722673

Metaverse Is Designed to Collect Ever More Info About Users: {DoctorLaptop}
– I have reviewed the latest info regarding Mark Zuckerberg’s Metaverse. It is now clear that one main purpose is to observe Metaverse users activities while in the virtual reality world, to extrapolate behaviors that can be added to the user’s “data profile”. This is another spying function, that adds value to the data about you that they provide to business partners, this time is is about your behavior and intimate fantasies. Very creepy! You can be sure they combine all this data about users to create a psychological profile; added to your tracked purchases, searches, medical app data and all other web activity and email/messenger content, they now know more about you than does your own mother.
– Imagine thinking you can do pretty much anything you want to do in the Metaverse, as it is a virtual reality fantasy. Do you want your fantasy activity, with absolutely no real connection to your real world activities, passed around to strangers looking for new ways to extract money from you? The Metaverse will be a treasure trove for more than just marketers; blackmailers will be able to record your Metaverse activities, and threaten to expose those naughty acts.

Irish DPC files draft order to halt Meta’s data transfers to US:
– On Thursday, the Irish Data Protection Commission sent a draft decision to its EU data protection authority counterparts in which it proposes to halt Facebook parent company Meta from transferring personal data from the EU to the U.S.
– If approved by the other DPAs, Meta-owned services Facebook and Instagram may be shuttered in the EU.
– In July 2020, the Court of Justice of the European Union invalidated the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework and cast a shadow over the use of standard contractual clauses in what’s commonly known as the “Schrems II” decision. In the wake of the CJEU decision, the Irish DPC initiated an “own volition” inquiry under Ireland’s Data Protection Act to consider whether Facebook’s data transfers to the U.S. were legal.
– With Shield’s invalidation, many companies, including Meta, relied on SCCs to complete data transfers. According to Politico, the Irish DPC’s “own volition” draft decision means Meta can no longer rely on SCCs to transfer data to the U.S. Full article: https://iapp.org/news/a/irish-dpc-files-draft-order-to-halt-metas-data-transfers-to-us/

As I Have Been Warning Readers for 10 Years- Professor Jorge Stolfi: ‘Technologically, bitcoin and blockchain technology is garbage’:
– In early May, Jorge Stolfi, a professor of computer science at the University of Campinas (Brazil), posted the following tweet in English: “Every computer scientist should be able to see that cryptocurrencies are totally dysfunctional payment systems and that “blockchain technology” (including “smart contracts”) is a technological fraud. Would they please say that out loud?” Stolfi now has 9,400 followers. Back then he had fewer. In the discreet world of computer science, the 2,000 retweets and 7,000 likes his message received were the equivalent of going viral.
– Stolfi was saying something that he had repeated before. In fact, he didn’t even see it as controversial. But in today’s so-called “crypto winter,” where the value of bitcoin has dropped from around €60,000 to €20,000 since November, gave his statement new relevance. The tweet was the driving force behind a letter that 1,500 specialists signed and delivered to US Congress: “Today, we write to you urging you to take a critical, skeptical approach toward industry claims that crypto-assets (sometimes called cryptocurrencies, crypto tokens, or web3) are an innovative technology that is unreservedly good.” Among the signatories were Harvard lecturer Bruce Schneier and Kelsey Hightower, principal engineer at Google Cloud. American Kennel Club adds a breed, the Bracco Italiano: The ancient Italian bird-hunting dog is the 200th member of the American Kennel Club’s roster of recognized breeds, the organization announced Wednesday. That means the handsome, powerful but amiable pointers can now go for best in show at many U.S. dog shows, including the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club event next year. The bracco (pronounced BRAH’-koh) goes back more than two millennia in Europe but wasn’t brought to the U.S. until the mid-1990s, according to the AKC. It’s sometimes called the Italian pointer or Italian pointing dog. Photo: AP. Full article: https://apnews.com/article/sports-dogs-dog-shows-972bd435723a2f55360827e3e321e353 & VIDEO LINK
