Halting Erosion using Vetiver:
From Vetiver Spain in Sayalonga
Our Nursery is open by appointment. Please email or call first. We have Moringa seedlings, Organic Moringa powder and Comfrey plants. We also have some local trees and some exotic trees from Africa.
Vetiver is a rapid growing and non-invasive sterile clump grass with a height of 1-2 metres and a root system of 3-4 metres in depth. We have been providing Vetiver throughout the EU for almost 10 years now. We are located in Sayalonga where we can plant year round but our best results by far start in February. The reason is that Vetiver is indigenous to India and Vetiver loves the heat of the summer. Use Vetiver cuttings as mulch around all of your fruit trees. Decomposing Vetiver improves soil quality, keeps the weeds down and the insects away all while helping to maintain soil moisture.
Vetiver is a nutritious and replenishable animal fodder. Horses and pigs love it. We use it in our chicken pens replacing hay because it stops mites.
In the 2 photos below you will see land prepared for Vetiver and the results 2 years later.
We also use Vetiver along driveways and sidewalks. It also makes a great and inexpensive ornamental hedge.
Here is a link to a short video showing the results.
https://youtu.be/rjTmb_LL2uo
We suggest planting now, as this is the BEST time of the year to plant.
To see more images of Vetiver go to this link.

Recommendations & Requests

TV Repair Advice: This tv is causing me a problem I cannot resolve.
TV Model LG LED TV 24TK410V 60cm/2
The remote will turn the TV on but will not perform any other functions. It also leaves the volume slider visual on the screen set to zero, which cannot be removed or controlled by the remote. A mag box can be connected and controlled by its own remote but because this will not override the volume issue the TV is useless as there is no volume and the screen is compromised by the permanent volume icon. There are no controls on the TV apart from an On/Off button. I have thought of buying a new remote but wanted to get another take on the problem before going down that route.
Would appreciate hearing from anyone out there in Digame-land that has a solution apart from putting it by the bins.

COVID-19

Covid Spain- Covid rate rises to 139.1 with 34 deaths: This Tuesday the incidence rate in Spain rises to 139.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, seven points more than this Monday. Navarra remains at the head of the autonomous communities with the highest incidence, and on this day almost 400 cases are reported for every 100,000 inhabitants.
There have been 34 deaths have been reported this Tuesday from COVID-19, while 22 deaths were recorded on Monday. Full article: https://spainsnews.com/the-incidence-rises-another-seven-points-to-139-cases-after-notifying-6777-new-infections/

Covid Andalucia- Andalusia exceeds 70 points of incidence, 782 positive results, 2 deaths: {Translation, summary} 22/11/2021,12:45
-Andalusia recorded this Monday, November 22, a total of 782 coronavirus infections in 48 hours, a figure higher than the 741 infections on Saturday and also higher than the 338 a week ago, while adding two deaths, two less than on Saturday and one less than last Monday.
-The two deaths of this day have been recorded in the province of Malaga.
-In Andalusia, the incidence in 14 days stands at 71.06 cases per 100,000 inhabitants – the highest since September 20 when 72.9 were recorded – which is 5.3 points more than Saturday (65.7) and 26.5 points more than last Monday.
-The 782 infections this Sunday and Monday are reported after 741 on Saturday, 718 on Friday, 737 on Thursday, 564 on Wednesday, 487 on Tuesday and 338 last Monday.
-With respect to the provincialized data, Malaga is the province with the most positives with 201, followed by Seville with 163, Cadiz with 105, Almeria with 104, Cordoba with 64, Huelva with 51, Granada with 46 and Jaen with 48.
-Malaga is the province with the most hospitalized patients with 68 and 16 ICU patients, followed by Seville with 33 and four in ICU, Jaen with 22 and three in ICU, Cordoba with 20 and three in ICU, Granada with 19 and three in ICU, Almeria with 16 and nine in ICU, Cadiz with 17 and two in ICU and Huelva with 13 and one in ICU.

SPAIN

The new COVID traffic light is approved without setting restrictions after the controversy over hospitality hours: The tensions between the communities and the Ministry of Health on account of the new COVID traffic light have ended, for the moment, with a strange solution: the Public Health Commission has given the green light to lower the accumulated incidence thresholds corresponding to each alert level, but the approved document does not contain any restriction associated with each stage of risk.
-Alert level 1 (low risk) has a new ceiling: it rises from 50 to 100 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days (a maximum of 50 in seven). The medium risk (alert level 2) is reached if it exceeds 100; the high (alert level 3) is above 300 and the extreme (alert level 4) would be reached with an AI that exceeds 500.
The document maintains special attention to transmission among those over 65 years of age because the group has the highest risk of dying if they are not vaccinated, have comorbidities (other diseases that make them more vulnerable) and in general respond worse to immunization because their body is weaker. Level 1 is reached if the AI ??of this age group exceeds 25 cases; the 2, with 50; the 3, with 150 and the 4 if it is higher than 250.
-Remaining conflicts have prevented reaching a final, complete agreement. The heart of the matter is in the measures on the hotel industry. Many regional governments are not willing, at least for the moment and with the Christmas holidays looming, to limit the activity of the hotel industry, either with schedules or with capacity.
-The review of risk levels is also important at the terminological level. The document no longer speaks of “new normality” as the best scenario but of “controlled circulation”. Compared to what was previously considered, at this point in the pandemic it is relatively clear, experts say, that it is not possible to achieve group immunity. At least with the effect of current vaccines since the virus can continue to be transmitted – to a lesser extent – between immunized individuals.

Scam Alert: The Guardia Civil has taken to its Twitter social media account to warn about a scam involving the popular Lidl kitchen robot ‘Monsieur Cuisine’, which was withdrawn from the market in Spain after a well-publicised court ruling.
The fraudulent campaign, with the excuse of Black Friday, announces an offer of 1.99 euros for a kitchen robot. The advertisement on social media networks the redirects the user to a website that requests personal and bank details for the alleged purchase of the robot, but what it hides is a subscription to a service that costs 33 euros every 14 days.
The fake offer was originally detected on Facebook, although it is not ruled out that may find its way onto other social networks or arrive via email. Full article: https://www.surinenglish.com/spain/lidl-guardia-civil-20211123122420-nt.html

ANDALUCIA

Andalusia is committed to a mandatory Covid passport but positioned itself against the document known as the “Covid traffic light”: {Translation, summary} 23/11/2021, 20:28
-The committee of experts will meet again on Friday at 11.30 am at the Palacio de San Telmo and will ask the Ministry of Health to make the Covid passport mandatory. It rules out for now the application of restrictive measures and the change of provincial levels despite the fact that the evolution of the pandemic is “worrying but not alarming”.
-The Minister of Health, Jesús Aguirre, during his intervention in the press conference following the Governing Council, assured that Andalusia will progressively adopt the “Covid passport” depending on the evolution of the pandemic. This document could be required in hospitals and residences, and also in nightlife, large events, cultural and sports activities.
-For its implementation, the Board will need the “administrative permissibility” of the High Court of Justice of Andalusia (TSJA), although it will require the Spanish Government to “change the legislation so that the autonomous communities have tools” to combat the pandemic.
-However, “a change in the levels of the provinces or the application of restrictions is not contemplated”, as confirmed by Aguirre.
-Andalusia positioned itself against the document known as the “Covid traffic light”. It included measures such as the closure of the hotel and catering business at 23.00 hours and nightlife at 1.00 hours or the limitation of capacity.
-On Tuesday afternoon, the Public Health Commission met and approved the part of the document which established the indicators and risk levels, but not the restrictive measures mentioned.

Free Bar/Museum to a Manager with children: {Translation} In the heart of the Sierra de los Filabres in Almeria, the City Council of Laroya offers free management of the only bar-museum in the town of just 200 inhabitants. They are looking for a couple, preferably with children between 3 and 10 years old, to also add new students to the rural school.
“Are you looking for a job in a more familiar environment to raise your children? Do you like charming mountain villages? We are waiting for you in Laroya, a wonderful town that continues to fight against rural depopulation”, says the poster of the advertisement.
Laroya, one of the municipalities with the smallest number of inhabitants in the province of Almería, suffers the effects of depopulation, however, it has more than one hundred rural accommodation places.
The mayor of the town, Dolores Moreno has explained that the bar is open and running, but that the current manager has turned 67 years old and is going to retire.
The new managers of the bar will have all the facilities and will only have to pay for electricity, water and maintenance. The premises are equipped with tables, chairs, kitchenware and kitchen, ready to carry out the activity.
The bar-museum is located in the old oil mill of the village that was recently restored and has the machinery that was used to work the oil, being an additional attraction for tourism. To apply for the management of the establishment, you can contact through ayuntamiento@laroya.es. SPAIN

Wave of protests over price hikes puts a damper on financial recovery: Truckers, farmers, auto and metal workers, hairdressers and pensioners are all staging marches against soaring production costs and inflation.
The recovery seems to be right around the corner just when people’s patience has reached its limit amid a blend of different realities and expectations. This is taking the form of growing street unrest: truck drivers have called a three-day strike over Christmas to complain about rising diesel prices; metal workers in Cádiz have been putting up street barricades to protest inflation spikes that are cutting into their salaries; auto workers have called a demonstration in Madrid on Monday over factory shutdowns caused by car chip shortages; consumer associations have already organized several marches against rising electricity bills, and even hairdressers have been staging sit-ins to demand lower value-added tax rates. The common thread is the rising cost of living and, for the self-employed, of running a business. Proposed Law In Public Discussion Phase- Should customers will be able to take their leftovers from restaurants in their own containers?:
-This measure is part of the Royal Decree that regulates and clarifies certain requirements regarding hygiene and marketing of food products that are served in retail establishments, for which the Ministry of Consumer Affairs has opened a public hearing this Monday that will last 15 days.
-The proposal- Bars and restaurants must offer their customers at no cost the possibility of taking food that they have not consumed on the premises, for which they will have to provide reusable or easily recyclable packaging, or accept a container from the consumer himself.
-In addition, to avoid food waste, these establishments may sell products that present defects in shape, size, labeling or packaging when they do not affect their safety and consumers are informed of this circumstance. Electric vehicles- New UK homes will be required to have EV charging stations from 2022: As well as new build properties having to provide charging ports, buildings which have “major renovations” will also be forced to make the upgrade as well. Tennis WTA- Chinese tennis player’s call with Olympic chief is not enough: Chinese tennis player Peng Shuai’s video call with International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach did not address or alleviate concerns about her well-being, the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) said on Monday.
“It was good to see Peng Shuai in recent videos, but they don’t alleviate or address the WTA’s concern about her well-being and ability to communicate without censorship or coercion,” a WTA spokeswoman said in an e-mail. Football News- Football Super League squabble arrives at the European Parliament: Promoters of the controversial Super League football tournament have sent a letter to EU lawmakers ahead of this week’s vote in the European Parliament on a sports-related report, attacking what they said was the monopoly of Europe’s “self-established” football governing body UEFA.
In particular, they accuse UEFA of not respecting the EU competition law. “The conflicts of interest are obvious as is the incompatibility with EU competition law,” the letter reads.
“UEFA, the self-established ‘governing body’ of European football has, in addition to its alleged regulatory role, also established itself as the monopoly operator of cross-border club football competitions,” it continues. The next pandemic- How Covid-19 has accelerated the emergence of super-bacteria: On occasion of the annual World Antimicrobial Awareness Week, which began on November 18 and runs until November 24, the relevant authorities have sounded the trumpets of the Apocalypse.
Health authorities warn that antibiotics are losing their effectiveness against disease and that humanity faces a future in which any minor infection could prove lethal.
Treatments to counter bacteria are ceasing to work, now at an even greater speed due to excessive and incorrect consumption of antibiotics during the coronavirus pandemic. Cristina Muñoz, co-director of the National Plan against Resistance to Antibiotics (PRAN), paints a dystopian image of a world without antibiotics, where any minor infection could prove lethal: no Caesarian sections, no organ transplants, no meniscus operations, no hip replacements.
“It would be taking a backward step equivalent to 100 years of medical advances,” says Muñoz. Full article: https://english.elpais.com/usa/2021-11-22/the-next-pandemic-how-covid-19-has-accelerated-the-emergence-of-super-bacteria.html

Email Issue Causing False Security Warnings For Gmail Users Monday 22/11/21

Hello Readers,

Some people, all Gmail users so far, are getting a Security Warning when opening todays email issue of DigameXtra. I have investigated, and I believe this is because of an article I posted containing a list of pirate IPTV services that were shut down last week. Evidently, this list contains websites that Gmail has blacklisted. There is no threat. I just checked the whole issue on VirusTotal website scanner and it found no threats. See results: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/url/494df120d2fba5113e33f425cbbcaa9465e6e4a1bb29b84d126186076fcc1f2b?nocache=1

I’ll watch out for this in the future so as to avoid these kind of email problems.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Naythan, Editor

Andalusia offers the third dose of the vaccine to health workers and those over the age of 60 years: {Translation, summary} 21/11/2021, 10:18
-The Ministry of Health will begin this Monday to administer the third dose of the vaccine against Covid-19 to health and social-health personnel and to the population between 60 and 69 years of age, since until now it has been limited to those over 70 years of age.
-The Minister of Health explained that vaccination with the third dose will be done “gradually, from more to age to less”, starting in the range of 69 to 60 years, and by appointment.
-Andalusia began last September 21 to administer the third dose against Covid-19 from Pfizer or Moderna to the more than 43,554 users of the residences for the elderly, while a few weeks earlier it had begun to inoculate this serum to immunosuppressed patients.
-Last November 5, the self-appointment was opened to obtain a date for the supply of the third dose of the vaccines. As always, this self-appointment can be made through the usual applications (ClicSalud+ and App Salud Responde) and by telephone through Salud Responde and appointment at the health centers themselves. Cold Front Moves Toward North Spain: Spanish Meteorological Agency has communicated that starting this Monday “a drastic change in the weather is expected from tomorrow, consisting of snow precipitations at relatively low levels in large areas of the peninsula, intense and persistent rainfall in the northwest peninsular quadrant, as well as a sharp drop in temperatures “.
On Thursday it is likely that the storm will recede towards the east and that it will be replaced by another from the north, so that the winter weather will continue, at least, until the weekend, according to the forecasts of the Aemet.

UK weather forecast- Heavy snow to fall ‘for days’ as temperatures fall to -12C: Brits face freezing temperatures from the start of next week along with several days of snow, which could extend as far south as London.
The promise of colder weather is now just a few days away as from Monday the UK can expect sub-zero temperatures, according to WXCharts. Then from there the mercury will fall dramatically and possibly hit -12C by the end of November in what has been called a “little ice age” due to Arctic plumes blowing south.
Much of the country will see sub-zero temperatures next week where it will hover around 0C, with lows of -7C, although it won’t be as cold in the south of England.
The Met Office has warned of heavy snowfall in the north of the UK on Monday, with the cold blast predicted to reach the south by Wednesday night. London could see wintry showers and snow by the end of next week. By November 29 it is set to be also freezing in London, drop to around -4C in Newcastle and in the Scottish Highlands it could get to -12C.
There is not likely to be any relief from the freezing temperatures for weeks as it will hang around -2C to -4C for much of the country. Full article: https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/uk-weather-forecast-heavy-snow-25503385

Tennis News- Chinese tennis star Peng Shuai says she is safe, in video call with Olympic official: Chinese tennis star Peng Shuai had a video call on Sunday with the president of the International Olympic Committee and told him she was safe and well, the IOC said, after Western governments expressed mounting concern for her well-being.
Photos and videos of Peng at a children’s tournament in Beijing published earlier in the day had done little to quell that unease, following a nearly three-week public absence after she alleged that a former senior Chinese official sexually assaulted her.
In a statement, the IOC said Peng began the 30-minute call with its president Thomas Bach by thanking the Olympic organization for its concern.
“She explained that she is safe and well, living at her home in Beijing, but would like to have her privacy respected at this time,” the IOC’s statement said. Full article: https://www.reuters.com/world/china/tennis-peng-shuai-appears-china-tennis-event-organiser-photos-show-2021-11-21/

NASA’s DART mission to crash into an asteroid- What you need to know: DART will help determine whether we can protect the planet from errant space rocks. DART, which stands for Double Asteroid Redirection Test, is NASA’s test run of a futuristic planetary defense system that’ll protect Earth from incoming asteroids by literally slamming spacecraft into them.
Somewhere in our solar system lies a grayish space rock about a half mile wide known as Didymos, which, with a gentle gravitational pull, keeps a companion asteroid on a leash. That second, smaller asteroid orbiting Didymos is DART’s target: Dimorphos.
In late 2022, the DART spacecraft is poised to autonomously navigate toward and collide with Dimorphos when it’s about 7 million miles from Earth — their closest point to Earth. NASA predicts the crash will be strong enough to adjust Dimorphos’s orbital period by a few minutes. Calculations show the impact will bring Dimorphos closer to Didymos. El Puente Christian Fellowship – Sunday Service
El Puente Christian Fellowship is a loving, multi-national, Bible believing community of Christ, who meet each Sunday at 11 am to worship The Lord. We enjoy a time of worship with contemporary songs and traditional hymns, and a message brought to us by one of the Elders or a visiting speaker.
The church meeting hall is situated underneath Maroma Inmobiliaria Puente Don Manuel, Cruce de Periana – 29713.
Full directions and further information can be found on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/El-Puente-Christian-Fellowship-105285888299225/or please contact us by email on elpuentechristianfellowship@gmail.com. For those who cannot join us in person, we aim to stream Sunday services via the Facebook page (subject to a good internet connection!).

St George’s Church Málaga: We are part of the Church of England in Spain covering the area from Torremolinos in the west to the outskirts of Nerja in the east and to the northern edge of Malaga province.
We have three worship centres, in Velez-Málaga, Málaga city and Salinas. Everyone is welcome to our Sunday services in English, and you can also contact us to enquire about baptisms, marriage blessings, funerals, and house blessings.
Father Louis, our Chaplain, is available for counsel and support, regardless of anyone’s beliefs or background. We aspire to be a welcoming and inclusive community, open to all people seeking faith and friendship.
If you can’t get to church, we live-stream our Sunday services on Facebook, and also gather on Zoom for an informal service on Wednesday mornings.
Sign up for our newsletter by emailing Father Louis at malagachaplain@gmail.com to receive login details, and news of other future events. We look forward to welcoming you and being of service.

Eva Jimenez Project: Concert Friday 26Nov 8pm at Ventana Abierta Jazz Club. Calle Granada 3, (hotel plaza cavana), Nerja
This project presents a very eclectic jazz repertoire that includes original compositions by Eva Jiménez, little-performed songs within the jazz repertoire and some originally instrumental song with lyrics written by Eva Jiménez. The group presents a unique sound between tradition and modernity, creating a distinguished musical identity: fresh, original and energetic. MOONETTE – Organic Skincare for Mature Skin
We are a Torrox-based company specialising in the creation of formulae which help prevent premature skin ageing.
We are committed to making effective products at affordable prices.
Your skin health matters to us. How you feed your skin is as important as how you feed your body. Why settle for anything less than natural and organic?
As our skin is the first layer of our defence against microbial infections, ultraviolet radiation and environmental contamination it plays a vital role in our health. As we grow older, however, our skin becomes thinner, wrinkled, and more sensitive; hence it requires the use of treatments containing specific ingredients to the care of treating mature skin.
Recognising this need we have created a range of formulae which help
-slow down ageing process by smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.
-improve facial complexion and eliminate blemishes.
At Moonette, we are passionate about health, beauty and plants. Your skin will benefit from the properties of botanic essential oils combined with a selection of nutrients for deep hydration, cell revitalization and antioxidant effect, all sourced from the finest natural ingredients with gorgeous fragrances.
Naturally, we care about our planet and feel the need to help reduce the sheer volumes of plastics waste that are generated daily around the globe. Presently, we are minimizing the usage of plastic materials in our production while seeking alternative forms of packaging. With effluent rising in the showers I called them and they came within the hour, emptied the tank and pressure washed the drain back to the house. They worked in the dark, well I shone a torch for them, until they were finished. Money well spent.

COVID-19

Covid Malaga- The rate Covid rises nearly 20 cases in a week in Malaga, other numbers not encouraging (but we’re still far better off than most of Europe): {Translation} November 19, 2021 – 14:13
-This Friday the cumulative incidence (AI) in the province of Malaga has risen 5 cases to 74 per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days. This represents an increase of 18 points compared to the record of Friday last week, so the week closes almost 20 cases above. In the capital, the rate stands at 78.5 cases; so the weekly increase is half a point higher than in the province as a whole.
-The number of infections is already close to two hundred per day, in its continuous increase. This Friday there are 171 new positives detected by diagnostic tests of active infection (PDIA) that the Ministry of Health and Families of the Andalusian Government has notified in its daily balance. It is the Andalusian province with the most reported infections, closely followed by Seville (160), with almost a hundred new positives more than the next in the statistics (Huelva, 81).
-Despite the fact that the incidence and the number of infections have been increasing, this Friday there are no deaths in the province, so the statistics still reflect 2,003 deaths since the first for this reason occurred in March 2020.
-However, as far as healthcare pressure is concerned, the data are bittersweet. On the one hand, Malaga is still by far the province with the highest number of Covid patients admitted to its healthcare centers. One out of every three bedridden patients in Andalusia is in this province. This Friday six more patients have been admitted to hospitals in Malaga with coronavirus, despite this the number of occupied beds has been reduced by five units, to 69 occupied of the 204 in the whole community.
-Regarding the Intensive Care Units (ICU), the figures are more discouraging, 17 patients remain under this care in Malaga, almost half of the 40 registered in Andalusia. In addition, despite there being no new direct admissions to the ICU, there are two more ICU beds occupied in the province. There are more ICU patients in Malaga than total admissions in Huelva (14) and Cadiz (7) and the figure is close to the total number of bedridden in Almeria (19), Cordoba (20), Granada (21), Jaen (25) and Seville (29).

Covid Axarquia- The Axarquia has notified this week 67 cases of COVID-19, the highest number since the end of September: {Translation, summary} Nov 19, 2021
-Reported this Friday, November 19, 15 new infected by coronavirus in the Axarquia in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Institute of Statistics and Cartography of Andalusia (IECA). It is the highest figure of the whole week, after the 11 cases of yesterday Thursday, the 14 of Wednesday, the 13 of Tuesday and the 14 of Monday. In total, 67 infections have been confirmed this week, which is an increase with respect to the 40 positives detected last week and the 45 of two weeks ago. This is the highest figure since the week of September 20-24, when 82 infections were recorded during that period.
-The positive note continues to be that one more day there are no deaths in the region because of the virus, while this Friday have been added to 12 other people recovered from the disease.
-With regard to new positives in the last 24 hours, have been reported: 7 in Rincon de la Victoria; 2 in Nerja and Periana; and 1 in Velez-Malaga, Torrox, Benamocarra and Macharaviaya.
-As for the persons who have overcome the disease, the following have been reported: 5 in Vélez-Málaga; 3 in Frigiliana; and 1 in Rincón de la Victoria, Nerja, Torrox and Almáchar.
-The incidence in the Axarquia Health District (which includes Casabermeja) is at 44.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, 1.7 points less than yesterday Thursday (45.8) and 3 points above a week ago (41.1). For its part, in the Health District of Malaga (to which belong Rincon de la Victoria, Macharaviaya, Moclinejo and Totalan, in addition to Malaga capital and Almogia) the incidence is 76.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, 7.3 points more than Thursday (69.3) and 19.9 points above a week ago (56.7). New lava overflow in the La Palma volcano: Itahiza Domínguez, a seismologist at the National Geographic Institute (IGN), reports a new lava overflow in the volcano of La Palma in the afternoon of this Friday. On social networks, Domínguez has posted a video accompanied by an explanatory text indicating that the overflow has occurred in the middle mouth of the volcano, where there is a lava lake. Spanish Politics- Propaganda at Work on Social Media- The Twitter bot network supporting Spain’s Socialist Party and insulting journalists: During the first 16 days of November, around 20 or so coordinated Twitter accounts described Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez as “handsome” 100 times and “gorgeous” another 39 times. It’s a curious anecdote, and may have gone unnoticed had the same accounts not compulsively insulted the leader of Spain’s main opposition Popular Party (PP), Pablo Casado, on the same social network. “Corrupt,” “miserable,” “you’re disgusting,” were the comments posted under the conservative politician’s tweets more than 400 times in the last 10 weeks.
Also targeted by this clutch of accounts were journalists covering the Socialist Party (PSOE), which is led by Sánchez, or the coalition government, which is run by the latter party along with junior partner Unidas Podemos. “You have fewer sources in the PSOE than I have in the KGB,” or “salmon face” were a few of the comments aimed at reporters.
The repeated phrases, spelling errors, patterns in terms of the time of publication and the tool used to post the tweets are all clear evidence of coordination. The closure of the accounts by Twitter, after EL PAÍS raised the alarm, is the confirmation. Seven Dutch tourists escape from quarantine: The group of nine were travelling through Extremadura on Tuesday, November 16, when some of them felt sick and stopped in Navas del Madroño, a town halfway between the regional capital, Cáceres, and the border with Portugal. They had a test for the Covid-19 virus which confirmed their contagion, local councillor Denis Talavera told Extremadura TV.
They were all ordered to isolate in the hotel as per protocol. But when health officials visited the hotel on Wednesday, seven of the Dutch tourists had managed to escape from quarantine
The head of health in Extremadura, Jose Maria Vergeles, announced that international health authorities had been alerted because “this represents a problem for public health”. Full article:

MALAGA

First fixed radars installed on Malaga’s 30km/h roads: As confirmed by Malaga City Council, they have already started the installation of the network of fixed radars in the city. They will be deployed along the main 50km of arteries around the city, to control that drivers do not exceed 30 km/h. Two of these units are already in place, but are not yet operational. Both are located on Avenida Juan Sebastian Elcano. One is next to the Hotel Elcano, and the other is installed near the old Bobby Logan nightclub. They both point in the direction of the city centre. More of these boxes are in line to be fixed in place around the city.
Adding to these two new fixed radars, the Malaga Local Police have been supplied with two new portable devices. Already in the city, there are fixed kinemometers installed in Calles Pacifico and Andalucia, plus on Avenidas Calle Valle-Inclan, and Pintor Sorolla. Photo:Instagram

Pretzel Logic? Malaga to avoid Christmas light crowds by leaving show times unannounced: The lights will be switched on on 26 November at 7pm. The city council announced this Thursday that the Christmas lighting on Calle Larios will include music and light shows but without a previously announced timetable. “The schedule for the shows is not going to be announced, but people will be able to come from seven to ten,” said Porras, who justified this measure by saying that it avoids large crowds of people gathering.

(Seems to me this invites larger crowds as people gather waiting for shows. If people knew the times of the shows, they wouldn’t need to hang around in a crowd waiting. -Ed.)

Austria infuriates many with manditory vax and full lockdown as Germany warns it may follow suit: Austria will become the first country in western Europe to reimpose a full COVID-19 lockdown, it said on Friday as neighbouring Germany warned it may follow suit, sending shivers through financial markets worried about the economic fallout.
Austria said it in addition to lockdown it would require the whole population to be vaccinated from Feb. 1. Both decisions infuriated many in a country where scepticism about state mandates affecting individual freedoms runs high.
Roughly two-thirds of those eligible in Austria are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, one of the lowest rates in western Europe. Its infections are among the highest in Europe, with a seven-day incidence of 991 per 100,000 people.
“We have not succeeded in convincing enough people to get vaccinated,” Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg told a news conference, saying the lockdown would start on Monday and the requirement to be vaccinated on Feb. 1. Why the Covid-19 vaccines do not stop the virus from circulating:
Covid-19 vaccines prevent hospitalizations and death from the disease in more than 90% of cases, but they do not stop the transmission of the virus. That’s why cases among the vaccinated are to be expected: a person who has been fully immunized can still contract SARS-CoV-2 and spread it to others, even if they too are vaccinated.
In Spain, contagions have been rising despite the fact that 79% of the population is fully vaccinated against Covid-19. According to the latest Health Ministry report, released Thursday evening, the 14-day incidence rate has jumped to 104 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, up eight points since Wednesday. This is the first time the data point has risen above 100 cases in two months. Windows 11 Users Complain of Slow Performance:
-There’s good news ahead for Windows 11 users, especially if the upgrade has left you with a sluggish system. Microsoft is promising that fixes and updates are on the way next year that will improve the performance of the operating system, which has received numerous complaints from Windows fans.
-“Performance will be an area of focus for us in 2022,” Microsoft’s Windows developer team wrote in a Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) post as reported by TechRadar, noting that improving the responsiveness of Windows is a priority for the company.
-Though stuttering performance may be an embarrassing issue for Microsoft’s latest operating system, there are other issues affecting Windows 11 as well. Memory leaks, compatibility issues, lack of customization options, and a jarring look with old UI elements mixed with Windows 11’s latest experience round out some of the top complaints we’ve heard about the OS.
-Microsoft also made headlines ahead of Windows 11’s rollout with its decision to limit upgrade eligibility to newer hardware. If you’re on the fence about upgrading to Windows 11, provided your machine is compatible with the latest operating system, you’ll need to weigh your options at this time, especially given the performance-plaguing bugs still out there. IBM unveils the Eagle, the quantum processor set to revolutionize computing: The development of quantum computing is set to revolutionize computing as we know it, by exponentially increasing processing power. The latest advance in the field has come from IBM, which unveiled the Eagle processor this week. Boasting 127 qubits (quantum bits) of quantum power, it doubles the power of China’s Zuchongzhi processor, previously the world’s most advanced.
-How powerful is that? IBM’s Eagle processor has the capacity to smash the record set by the Zuchonhzhi processor created by engineers at China’s University of Science and Technology and Tsinghua University in Beijing, which managed in three minutes to solve a problem of random number generation that would have taken other supercomputers 600 million years. The IBM processor is “a key milestone on the path towards practical quantum computation,” said Zaira Nazario, technical manager of Quantum Computing Theory and Applications at the US company, in a video call. Stomach Bug?: I’ve heard from several readers that a stomach flu is making the rounds. Apparently there are 2 versions. One is short, but intense. Covid Andalucia- Andalusia adds 737 Covid infections in a single day but no deaths recorded: {Translation, summary} 18/11/2021, 11:41h
-Andalusia has added this Thursday 737 Covid-19 infections. This is the highest number of cases in the community since the beginning of September, more than two months ago. However, this significant increase does not have a proportional response in the number of hospitalized, which stands at 206 after growing today by 12.
-Thus, hospital occupancy is now only 1.28 percent of the total number of beds available in the Andalusian health system, a very low figure when compared to last winter, when there were almost 5,000 hospitalized by Covid in the community.
-The cumulative incidence has risen on Thursday to 56.39 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants.
-Proof that the current situation has nothing to do with what has been seen before in Andalusia is the fact that the community reports this Thursday zero deaths by Covid. The number of deaths -which in general have already totaled 11,381 since the beginning of the pandemic- are at a minimum, as are the hospitals. Source, Spanish: https://sevilla.abc.es/andalucia/sevi-andalucia-suma-737-contagios-covid-solo-pero-no-registra-muertos-202111181141_noticia.html

Covid Axarquia- Nerja returns to medium coronavirus risk with incidence rate below 150 cases: {Translation} 18Nov21
-The Ministry of Health and Families of the Andalusian Government has reported this Thursday, November 18, 11 new infections by coronavirus in the Axarquia in the last 24 hours. The infections decrease with respect to the 14 cases confirmed this Wednesday. A day in which the virus leaves no deaths in the region and in which 5 other people have been reported recovered from the disease.
-With regard to new positives in the last 24 hours, have been confirmed: 6 in Velez-Malaga; 3 in Torrox; and 2 in Nerja.
-The cases of coronavirus remain stable in Axarquia, with small fluctuations which are usual. The region remains for the moment outside the increase of infections that is being recorded in some communities in Spain and even in other areas of Andalusia. An example of this is that Nerja, one day later, returns to medium risk after lowering its incidence rate of 150 cases. The municipality has this Thursday an incidence of 137.2 infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days.
-In Arenas, the town of Axarquia with the highest incidence of the disease, the rate has also fallen to 169.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. In this case it drops to high risk as it is above 150 positives. The remaining municipalities in the region have the following incidence: Canillas de Albaida (131.8), Almáchar (110.1), Rincón de la Victoria (45.1), Vélez-Málaga (41.3), Torrox (39), Periana (32.4), Colmenar (29.3) and Algarrobo (15.3).
-Up to 21 localities of the Axarquia have not registered cases of coronavirus at least in the last two weeks. These are Alcaucín, Alfarnate, Alfarnatejo, Árchez, Benamargosa, Benamocarra, Canillas de Aceituno, Comares, Cómpeta, Cútar, El Borge, Frigiliana, Iznate, La Viñuela, Macharaviaya, Moclinejo, Riogordo, Salares, Sayalonga, Sedella and Totalán.
-As for the persons who have overcome the disease, 3 have been reported in Vélez-Málaga; and 2 in Nerja.
-The incidence in the Axarquia Health District (which includes Casabermeja) is 45.8 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, 1.1 points higher than yesterday Wednesday (44.7) and 5.2 points higher than a week ago (40.6). For its part, in the Health District of Malaga (to which belong Rincon de la Victoria, Macharaviaya, Moclinejo and Totalan, in addition to Malaga capital and Almogia) the incidence is at 69.3 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, 4.3 points more than Wednesday (65) and 17.1 points above a week ago (52.2).
-In total, since the beginning of the pandemic in the Axarquia region, 14,864 positive cases have been registered to date, of which 14,457 have been officially cured and 215 have died. SPAIN

DGT is launching another large campaign on Spanish roads this winter this time targeting tyres: These are the things that the traffic cops will be checking for, and will punish drivers accordingly. The main check will be on the condition of the tyres, in regards to wear and tear. This carries a fine of €200 per tyre. Secondly, axle differences between tyres, with a fine of €150, and lastly, incorrect type approval, with a fine of €90 euros to €120. Update On Proposed Radical New Pet/Animal Laws: This is what we know about the sweeping new animal rights laws that are under development. You still have time to contact your regional representitive if you want your opinion heard.
-The law considers that no animal is dangerous because of its breed and that dogs must be valued individually. For this reason, the list of dangerous dogs is eliminated.
-No individual will be able to raise their own pets. Breeding and sale can only be done by registered professionals.
-The legal draft prohibits the breeding of non-native wild animals, that is to say, originating in another country, both terrestrial and marine, as well as trading with them, in particular for the exploitation of their skins or by-products. And zoos or dolphinariums will not be able to breed or acquire new animals, except those threatened species. More new rules in source article. MALAGA

Cómpeta will have a new health center in the spring of 2022: {Translation} This will replace the current one, an office of just one hundred square meters, enabled in what was the old rural doctor’s house.
According to SUR, the works, which were put out to tender last August, at a cost of over 400,000 euros, have an expected completion period of four months, so that, if there are no setbacks, the new space will be available next spring. The two doctors and two nurses who attend the population on a daily basis will be able to move there.
The new space will have up to eight medical offices, as well as waiting rooms, toilets, 24-hour emergency service and an administration area, among other services. The mayor has complained, however, that since last summer there has been no pediatrician in the town, so parents still have to travel to the health center in Algarrobo, almost 15 kilometers away, if they want their young children to be attended by these specialists. UK

From Mid-2022 Brits Will No Longer Have Their Passports Stamped During EU Border Checks: British nationals travelling to and from European Union countries from May 2022 and on will no longer have their passports stamped, as the information on the date of their entry to the block, or the exit, will be recorded through a new automated system.
EU’s Entry/Exit System (EES) is set to become fully functional in May next year, though it has been reported that the EES may experience some delays.
The system will register entry and exit data and refusal of entry data of third-country nationals crossing EU’s external borders, including here Britons, which means that passport stamping will become unnecessary. Brits Will Have to Pay €7 Once in 3 Years & Not Every Time They Travel to EU: Some British media have been sparking panic amid British nationals regarding trips to the European Union Member States starting from mid-2022, more specifically, regarding the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS).
The latter is a travel authorization, which the nationals of third countries under the Schengen visa-free regime will have to obtain sometime in the second half of next year, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.
The new requirement will hardly make trips to Europe more expensive. Not only because a €7 fee per application is quite low in comparison to fees that other third countries pay for visa applications (€80), but also because British nationals will have to apply for an ETIAS only every three years, and not each time they travel to the EU. EU Plans to Make COVID-19 Vaccination Passports Valid for Only 12 Months After Second Dose: According to the medium, the proposal will be presented before the Council on Friday.
If the source’s claims are correct, fully vaccinated travellers will have to take a refreshing COVID-19 jab 12 months after they received the second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, or 12 months after the vaccine, if it was a single-jab vaccine, like Moderna.
Those who do not take the booster shot will have to test in order to be able to travel with an EU Digital COVID-19 Certificate. Full article:

With new cases soaring to an all-time high of 65,371, leaders of Germany’s 16 states agreed after crisis talks with Chancellor Angela Merkel to require those not immunised to provide negative tests in order to use public transport or go to the office. Tennis News- Email raises concerns about fate of Chinese tennis player Peng Shuai: The boss of women’s tennis has cast doubt on an email posted on China’s media purportedly from tennis star Peng Shuai, saying it “only raises my concerns as to her safety.”
Steve Simon, chairman of the WTA, said in a statement that he had a “hard time believing” the email was written by Peng, who has not been heard from since alleging two weeks ago that a powerful Chinese politician had sexually assaulted her.
Peng, a former Wimbledon and French Open doubles champion, alleged on the Twitter-like Weibo earlier this month that former vice-premier Zhang Gaoli had “forced” her into sex during a long-term on-off relationship. Spanish study shows vaccines from Pfizer and Modern can result in a false positive test results for coronavirus: {Translation, summary} 18 November, 2021, 18:45
The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines cause an increase in antibodies that can cause vaccinated individuals to test positive for the coronavirus without being infected, according to a study by ISGlobal, a center supported by the Fundación la Caixa. Apple to begin selling parts to consumers to repair their own Macs, iPhones: The self-service repair program comes after years of pressure from consumer groups have resulted in Apple providing greater access to repair manuals and genuine parts.
-In 2019, Apple started a program where independent repair shops can buy its parts, tools and manuals. Apple said there are now 2,800 independent shops in its program in addition to its 5,000 directly authorized repair providers.
-Under the self-service program, Apple customers will be able to buy those parts directly to perform their own repairs after reading a manual. Apple said the online store will start with about 200 parts and tools aimed at fixing the most common issues with displays, batteries and cameras on iPhone 12 and 13 models.
-The program will eventually extend to Mac computers that use Apple’s M1 chip and later to less common repairs.
-Customers will be offered the same pricing on parts and tools as independent repair shops and will be able to return their used parts to Apple after completing a repair to receive a discount.
-Apple said the program will begin early next year in the United States and expand to more countries later in the year. Full article: https://www.reuters.com/technology/apple-sell-spare-parts-consumers-repair-iphones-macs-2021-11-17/

SPAIN

Operators will have to offer a basic package of internet services in rural and more depopulated areas: The Council of Ministers approved this Tuesday a reform of the General Telecommunications Law that includes new features for the provision of universal services throughout the territory. With this, the Government intends to break the “gap” that occurs in internet access in less populated and more remote areas, guaranteeing a basic service for customers who request it.
The law replaces the previous regulation, from 2014, updating the basic services package. In addition, it will no longer be a single operator, Telefónica, but it will affect the rest of the competitors, who will have to offer these services in Spain, regardless of the location, and with an “affordable” price, according to sources from the Secretary of State for Telecommunications. Thus, “adequate access to broadband internet with a minimum set of services” must be guaranteed. This list includes guaranteeing access to the internet, email, search engines, basic training tools, press, purchase of goods and services, banking, relationship with the administration, social networks and instant messaging.

Renfe offers ‘Black Friday’ ticket sale with bargain-basement prices for travel in 2022: The Spanish train operator’s promotional offer is valid for purchases made between 15 and 19 November and includes the AVE high-speed services and other long-distance routes. For example, Malaga – Madrid, €20.30. Source: https://www.renfe.com/es/es/promociones/ofertas-black-friday

Consumers will be able to demand that a human and not a machine answer their telephone complaints: In addition to regulating the use of answering machines or similar as exclusive means of customer service, the future law contemplates the obligation of the company to maintain a personalized communication when the consumer formulates a query, complaint, claim or communication of incidence, by telephone or electronics.
In the event of dissatisfaction with the care received, the consumer may request that the communication be transferred to a supervising natural person, who must attend to him during the same communication.
The law establishes limits on telephone waiting times and prohibits referral from a toll-free telephone to numbers that imply an additional cost for the customer. The hours of customer service will be adjusted to the business hours of the company. In the basic services of general interest, customer service will always be available for the communication of incidents in the service. Banks that don’t charge you fees for having an account: In recent months, some customers have been surprised by the commission banks have begun to charge for products that were previously free or low-cost. Some of these prices exceed 200 euros per year in the case of not meeting some conditions.
Despite everything, there are still some banks that do not charge commissions. The specialized website Helpmycash collects which ones maintain their account maintenance for free. Full article: https://spainsnews.com/banks-that-dont-charge-you-fees-for-having-an-account/

German regulator puts brake on Nord Stream 2 in fresh blow to gas pipeline: Germany’s energy regulator has suspended the approval process for a major new pipeline bringing Russian gas into Europe, throwing up a new roadblock to the contentious project and driving up regional gas prices.
The watchdog said on Tuesday it had temporarily halted the certification process because the Swiss-based consortium behind Nord Stream 2 first needed to form a German subsidiary company under German law to secure an operating licence.
European prices jumped almost 11% on news of the hold-up.

Facebook and Instagram continue to extract the browsing data of people under 18 years of age despite promises to stop:
-This investigation comes two months after internal documents leaked by engineer Frances Haugen Uncover that, especially Instagram, encourages the insecurity of young girls with their bodies, amplifies content of eating disorders such as bulimia and accentuates anxiety and depression in adolescents. Facebook knew it and still did not respond to the huge problem.
-With what was announced this summer, the platform seemed to limit the scope of “surveillance advertising” on adolescents, a long time complaint by different organizations that denounced the exposure of minors to the toxicity of the social network. The study, prepared by the NGOs Fairplay, Global Action and Reset Australia, points out that both Facebook and Instagram continue to track them.
-In an open letter to Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta –new name of the parent company–, 44 activist groups have denounced that “the large amount of data it collects on children continues to be used to determine which ones are most likely to be vulnerable to a certain ad”. Three Covid-19 deaths have also been added, more than the one recorded on Saturday the zero of last Monday.
According to the data from the Andalusian Institute of Statistics and Cartography (IECA), the 14-day cumulative incidence rate has increased by 0.8 to stand at 44.5 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, higher than the 36.3 last Monday. Covid Spain- The incidence rate grows ten points from Friday to 82 cases per 100,000 and adds 9,798 new infections: The incidence climbs almost 11 points since Friday and stands at 82.02 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, a number that was not seen since September 20, when an incidence of 83.43 cases was recorded. From then on, different ups and downs of cases were recorded, but at the beginning of November a continuous growth of the curve was observed again: Spain began the month with 49 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and two weeks later, the rate incidence has risen more than 30 cases. SPAIN

Health prepares a new COVID traffic light that raises the incidence considered low risk to 100: {Translation}
-The traffic light used to measure the pandemic situation in Spain and decide on restrictions is going to change. The Public Health Commission will debate this Tuesday a new version that updates the criteria to the current context -in which the majority of the population is vaccinated-, according to the newspaper El País and confirmed by elDiario.es.
– Until now, an incidence of 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants marked the difference between low and medium risk. If Public Health approves this Tuesday the draft with which it is working, this indicator will rise to 100 cases, according to information from El País. High risk will be reached at 300 cases; very high risk, at 500 cases.
-The accumulated incidence is not the only indicator taken into account to establish these alert levels. Other parameters such as hospital occupancy or ICU occupancy are also taken into account. The new draft adds other indicators on the evolution of this care pressure, such as the number of new admissions in the last week.
-The traffic light recommends different measures to be applied depending on the level of alert in each territory, but the autonomous communities have the margin to decide whether to apply them or not. The draft proposes that in places at alert level 1, the capacity of bars and restaurants should be limited to 80%. For level 2, it establishes a capacity of 50% and a maximum of 15 people per group. For level 3, it is recommended the total closure of interiors.
-The technicians of the Ministry of Health and the autonomous communities have been working for months on this revision of the thresholds for measuring the pandemic. The traffic light currently in force was designed for a situation very different from the current one, without the effect of mass vaccination.
-On Monday, health authorities recorded an incidence of 82 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, ten points more than on Friday, after adding 9,798 new infections during the weekend. Authorities have also reported 43 more deaths in the last three days. The autonomous communities with the highest incidence are Navarra, with 203 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and Euskadi, with 174. Four hand signals by traffic cops that drivers must know and obey:
In large cities, it is common to see traffic police officers directing traffic, especially at times with the highest concentration of vehicles. This is normally between the hours 7.30am and 9:30am, then again from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
Instructions from these officers are classed as being of a higher priority than traffic lights, vertical road signs, or road markings. When they give you a signal with an arm movement, you should obey it, or risk a fine. In some instances, you could face a prison sentence for disobeying. There are four possible signals that a traffic cop could use. -The Board is vigilant but not worried about the slow increase in Covid infections in Andalusia said Minister Jesus Aguirre, when asked by journalists about the convening of the committee of experts in the coming days.
-According to Aguirre, the meeting could take place next week, after the presentation by the Governing Council of the High Frequency Plan of the healthcare system. At this meeting, he added, in addition to the analysis of the epidemiological situation of Covid, the surveillance system for influenza and other respiratory diseases will be discussed.
-The head of Health has also explained that from the Board there is anticipation and expectation due to the already clearly upward evolution of Covid-19 infections. However, there is no concern because the healthcare pressure remains very low. “Andalusia is at level 0 and will remain at level 0,” stressed the counselor, thus ruling out the implementation of new measures against the pandemic. However, Aguirre recalled that the traffic light implemented in the de-escalation that involves the recovery of some measures as the pandemic progresses is still in force.
-“We are not worried,” stressed Aguirre, who has insisted on transmitting to the population “prudence” and recalled the need to wear masks, keep their distance and wash their hands. The Minister believes that there is no need to be alarmed because the high degree of protection of the vaccine is a guarantee that what is to come of the pandemic will not be like the past.
