Obsolete Apple/Mac Restoration: Do you have an Apple/Mac computer sitting in your closet, that is obsolete, unable to run the current OS or new apps, but otherwise in good mechanical condition? I have just completed a weekend workshop on resurrecting these devices by installing a current version of Linux. I can do this on Mid-2006 (Lion OS) or newer devices. I have a demo model in my workshop, a mid-2007 MiniMacPC you can test drive. Popular programs come installed: Chrome, Firefox, Adobe Reader, Skype, VLC player and Libre Office (Open Office clone). You do not get Safari.
MX Linux is derived from the well respected Debian family of Linux systems.
It looks very much like Windows 10 and will be easy for most experienced computer users to adjust to.
Remember the advantages of using Linux:
-No anti-virus needed. Linux computers are highly secure and immune to most malware.
-Linux runs more efficiently than Windows or Apple, using less RAM and processor resources to do the same tasks. Thus it breathes peppy new life into slow, old devices.
-All your software is free, and provided by secure Linux “depositories”. Most apps, or at least reasonable alternatives, are available for free download on demand.
-Linux is free and you are in control. You will never have any activation issues like on Windows, or Apple security codes texted to your mobile. You do not have to register anything you don’t want to, although if you choose to use apps like Skpye you will have to sign in to those as usual.
Note: This is not a dual boot, Virtual Machine or Boot Camp system. It actually reformats the MacOS partition and does a clean install of MX Linux.
See MX Linux here: https://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=mx

Covid-19 infections have been reduced by half this week in Andalusia: {Translated from sevilla.abc.es} Updated 21/02/2021 19:58
-The increase in the number of coronavirus infections has clearly slowed down during February in the autonomous community, coinciding with the intensification of vaccination campaigns for the most vulnerable groups. In the first week of the month, 33,534 new positive cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Andalusia, which dropped to 19,359 in the second week and to 10,898 in the last seven days, almost half.
-The Ministry of Health and Families has reported 1,220 new infections in the last 24 hours, 414 fewer than the previous day. The number of deaths in the autonomous community now stands at 8,088 since the start of the epidemic, after adding another 39 deaths in the last day.
-The cumulative picture of the pandemic shows that 468,412 people have tested positive in PDIA tests (diagnostic tests for active infection) since the start of the coronavirus, almost a year ago, and 307,356 have recovered.
-Health also reports that 2,333 patients confirmed with Covid-19 remain in Andalusian hospitals (244 less than the previous day), of whom 581 are in ICU (24 less). This means that hospital pressure continues to fall.
-In terms of vaccination, 214,464 people have already received the two doses in Andalusia. The total number of vials administered is 602,489. These are figures as of seven o’clock this Sunday morning.
-The Andalusian Regional Government plans to begin the vaccination against Covid-19 of teachers in infant, primary and secondary education next week, a process that could last for a month, together with the vaccination of members of the State Security Forces and Corps.
Provincial infection rates
-The rate of infection per 100,000 inhabitants, accumulated over 14 days, remains above the national average in Andalusia, with 341.2 cases compared to 294, according to the latest data published by the health authorities. The Ministry of Health considers a rate above the threshold of 250 to be “extreme risk”.
-Only three Andalusian provinces are below the Spanish average: Cordoba, with an accumulated 14-day incidence of 225.2; Jaen, with 267.8; and Huelva, with 275.3.
-The spread of infections is particularly high in Almeria (461.8) and Cadiz (446.5), followed by Malaga (351.9), Seville (326.5) and Granada (301.1).
-This data will be updated this Monday and, foreseeably, in view of the drop in the number of positives over the weekend, the accumulated incidence rate will have been reduced.
-The Andalusian president, Juan Manuel Moreno Bonilla, has advanced in recent days that, “provided that the figures are in line” and the incidence of infections and hospitalisations continue to fall in the region, at the end of February he could consider the possibility of making “some small opening” related to mobility and business hours. Boris Johnson considers putting a ROUNDABOUT under the Isle of Man in Brexit tunnel plans: Downing Street said the review, led by Network Rail chair Sir Peter Hendy, would explore the “cost, practicality and demand” for a fixed link connecting Ireland and the UK in the wake of Brexit. Whitehall officials said various ideas had been discussed for the review including a suggestion of a three-way tunnel in the Irish Sea.
The suggestion would see three tunnels with starting points at Stranraer in in Scotland, Heysham in Lancashire, and one near Liverpool.
The plan, initially reported today, would see the three tunnels meet in a giant roundabout underneath the Isle of Man with a further tunnel to Ireland starting from there.
One official pointed to the Faroe Islands which recently opened an under-sea roundabout with tunnels following more than three years of construction. The underwater tunnels connect the islands of Streymoy and Eysturoy in a network some 6.8 miles (11km) long. They added to Express.co.uk: “If the Faroe Islands have idea’s like this, then why can’t we.”
It comes as Boris Johnson suggested a bridge over the Irish Sea could be possible and the Government confirmed “it was examining” whether it would include it in the upcoming infrastructure review. Football News- Barcelona 1-1 Cadiz, Koeman’s side miss chance to make ground on Atletico: Barcelona missed the chance to make a dent in Atletico Madrid’s lead at the top of the table as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Cadiz at Camp Nou on Sunday.
Alex Fernandez’s late penalty earned the visitors a point, cancelling out Lionel Messi’s first-half spot kick.
A win would have moved Ronald Koeman’s side within six points of Atletico but instead they are eight points behind the leaders and five behind Real Madrid, although Los Blancos have played a game more.
Barca play again on Wednesday at home to Elche and can move within two points of Madrid and five of Atletico, although Diego Simeone’s men will have a game in hand. Full article:

DoctorLaptop’s Full Computer Maintenance Servicing:
If you rely on your laptop for school, shopping or communications and want it running at peak performance, an annual professional servicing is necessary. This is especially true in these current times where people have their laptops on all day. You wouldn’t drive your car till it runs out of oil before servicing it, would you? If you did, the repair would be far more than the cost of the oil change you neglected. Same thing with computers, and laptops in particular.
I do the most comprehensive cleaning and tune-up possible: After an internal cleaning I verify all System files replacing any found to be corrupt, test all hardware and do hard disk sector repairs if needed, use 5 tool malware/adware/spyware removal protocol, update Windows+all drivers+programs, and finally optimize your settings for fastest overall performance. I use a special on-line scanner with real-time behavioral analysis (which takes 6 to 10 hours), that will detect and remove malware that normal anti-virus programs cannot detect!
Price is €60. Job usually completed overnight. If you have multiple hard drives, or the hard drive is 1Tb or larger add €20.
Heavily infected computers, or those showing error messages, need a repair, not this maintenance service.  This service is for slow but otherwise healthy computers. If you have any specific problems, ask for an inspection & repair.

Spain’s regions move to ease coronavirus restrictions despite high contagion rates: Several territories, such as Madrid, are relaxing measures, even though the incidence level nationwide remains above 250 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, considered to indicate a situation of “extreme risk”.
Since yesterday, the Madrid region has changed its curfew time from 10pm to 11pm, and is allowing bars and restaurants to stay open until the same time (until Thursday they had to close at 9pm). Castilla y León, for its part, will be lifting the perimetral lockdown of some of its provinces, while Aragón will be suspending the confinement of the cities of Zaragoza and Calatayud. The experts, meanwhile, are calling for caution with these deescalation measures and have warned about the spread of the more contagious strain of the coronavirus first identified in the United Kingdom. Gibraltar chief minister says that Covid-19 infection has been “effectively suppressed”: Gibraltar is easing more restrictions from Monday, as the R rate of the virus is now well below 0.5 and few new cases are being found through mass testing.
As a result, from Monday schools will reopen as planned and so will children’s parks. Masks will only be necessary in Main Street, in shops and internal public places, and sport may begin again as long as the maximum number of 12 people gathering is respected.
Bars and restaurants are scheduled to reopen from 1 March.
The existing curfew from 10pm to 6am will continue until at least 14 March.
*Warning about going to Spain*
Chief minister Fabian Picardo announced at this Friday’s press conference that the Covid-19 infection has been “effectively suppressed”, but warned that infection rates are still high in Andalucía and asked people from Gibraltar to be very careful if they go to Spain.
“Please do not bring Covid on yourself or your family or your friends by going out to look for it in Spain. If you go to Spain, be very cautious. Please be a little more patient. Please be a little more cautious before you think that life is entirely back to normal,” he said. Photo:AFP. Ireland won’t consider re-opening hospitality before mid-summer says PM: “No consideration will be given to opening hospitality until mid-summer … the numbers of the virus are far too high,” Martin said in an Irish language interview with state broadcaster RTE. “Any easing of the restrictions has to be slow and cautious because of the threat from new variants of the disease,” he said.
Ireland on Friday also said it had registered its first cases of another COVID-19 variant first discovered in Brazil, but said the cluster had been contained. Photo:Clodagh Kilcoyne. Strains test Spain’s leftist coalition government: In office for just over a year, Spain’s leftwing coalition grouping the Socialists and hard-left Podemos is showing signs of strain with constant bickering between the two camps.
The latest clash between Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez’s Socialists and his junior partners was triggered by this week’s violent protests over the jailing of a rapper for controversial tweets with the demonstrations applauded by Podemos.
But in recent months the sparks have flown with greater frequency and over more issues, such as the Catalan regional elections on February 14th, said Anton Losada a political scientist at Santiago de Compostela University.
The main disagreements have been over social policy and immigration, portfolios held by the Socialists, with Podemos denouncing the treatment of thousands of migrants who have landed on Spain’s Canary Islands, for example.
The friction in the coalition stems from the fact that the Socialists, as the majority partner, believe they should have the monopoly on government action “while the smaller party feels constantly threatened and feels the need to claim its space,” said Losada.
The Socialists have 120 seats in Spain’s 350-seat parliament, while Podemos holds 35.
Jose Ignacio Torreblanca of the European Council on Foreign Relations said Podemos is “afraid of being rendered irrelevant” so it lashes out “viciously to maintain visibility and try and show there are two partners with the same strength”. Spain braces for fifth night of protests over rapper’s arrest: Authorities in Spain are braced for a fifth night of protests on Saturday over the imprisonment of a rap artist for glorifying terrorism and insulting royalty in his music and on Twitter.
Organisers called for demonstrations in Madrid and Barcelona, where protests on previous nights featured clashes with police, property damage and looting. Police in Catalonia have reported at least three mob attacks on police stations. Rioters smashed their way into bank offices in downtown Barcelona, burned trash containers and looted sporting goods stores on Friday night.
About 80 people have been arrested, including four on Friday night, and more than 100 people have been injured since the rapper, Pablo Hasél, was arrested on Tuesday in the north-east city of Lleida and taken away to begin serving a nine-month prison sentence.

Elon Musk’s Comments Cause Bitcoin Turmoil- Was It All A “Pump & Dump” Ploy?: Billionaire CEO Elon Musk said on Saturday the price of bitcoin and ethereum seemed high. This comes at a time when the cryptocurrencies have just hit record highs, and coming several weeks after his well publicized purchase of a billion dollars worth of Bitcoin, with bitcoin subsequently crossing the $1 trillion market-capitalization threshold. This has many anxious investors concerned that he will now grab his profits in a major sell-off, and move his money to some other exploitable financial instrument. Norway Seeks To Decriminalise Recreational Drug Use: Norway’s government on Friday proposed a bill aimed at decriminalising the possession and use of small amounts of narcotics, saying users should be offered treatment rather than face jail. The proposal comes with set thresholds for what should be considered a small amount for different illicit substances: two grams for cocaine, heroin or amphetamines, 10 grams for cannabis and 500 grams (17.6 oz) for khat. Ecologists Call Velez Malaga’s River ‘a Sewer’: Officials from the Axarquia Nature Studies Cabinet (GENA), said there has been a “failure to monitor and control discharges in the riverbed, contrasting with the campaigns to sanitise the streets of urban centres.” They said the result was “a sewer,” saying there had been, “a large discharge of sewage, certainly fecal in nature, judging by the smell they give off, on the bed of the Velez river, under the highway viaduct.” Full article: https://www.euroweeklynews.com/2021/02/20/velez-malaga-river-a-sewer/

Printer Help: Please can anyone guide me through the process to turn off my printing ink save function?
My OS is Windows 10. My printer is HP series 2540 all-in-one.
I turned it on yesterday, and forgot how to go back in and reverse it.
More info- It’s truly an ink-saver function that uses less ink to print text. I pressed the option to turn on when I was printing a long contract, which was just a file copy. It came out so light, I changed my mind. However I left it overnight and forgot the pathway thru the software to change it back.
I was printing a pdf doc, so maybe I will come across it again sometime soon. I tried the HP print doctor and the advanced printing settings/print quality but can’t find it.
Any help would be much appreciated. Elise.

Vaccine Breakthrough- Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine No Longer Requires Deep Freezing: Pfizer and BioNTech have submitted new data to the FDA demonstrating that their COVID-19 vaccine can be stored at normal refrigerator temperatures, rather than deep freezing conditions, for up to two weeks, a breakthrough discovery that could significantly ease the logistics of vaccine rollout.
In an announcement Friday morning, Pfizer said stability data generated on vials manufactured over the past nine months showed that the vaccine can be stored at -25°C to -15°C (-13°F to 5°F), temperatures commonly found in a pharmaceutical freezer for up to two weeks. The pharma giant hopes that the FDA will incorporate the finding into the vaccine’s Emergency Use Authorization (EUA), which currently requires storage at ultra-cold temperatures between -80ºC and -60ºC (-112ºF to -76ºF) at all times. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘won’t return as working royals’: Buckingham Palace confirmed on Friday that Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, will not be returning to royal duties, and Harry will give up his honorary military titles — a decision that makes formal, and final, the couple’s split from the royal family.

Mass grave of 80 British soldiers who died fighting French revolutionaries 220 years ago is uncovered in a Dutch castle moat: More than 80 skeletons found in a mass grave in the Dutch city of Vianen have been identified as British soldiers aged between 15 and 30 who died fighting French revolutionaries during the War of the First Coalition.
The grave was first found by city workers excavating a moat that once surrounded Batestein Castle, on the outskirts of Utrecht, on 20th November last year.
It was previously thought the site was some kind of battlefield and that the 81 skeletons could have dated back to medieval times.
However, new research has shown the remains in fact belong to British soldiers who died fighting in the War of the First Coalition between 1792 and 1797, and the site is more likely to have been a field hospital. The new town perimeter closures begin this Friday and not on Saturday as planned: {Translated from sevilla.abc.es}
Updated: 02/18/2021, 21:35
-The Junta de Andalucía has just announced that the new perimeter closures of the municipalities that have today exceeded the contagion rate of 500 will begin at midnight, maintaining, however, the same period of restrictions of seven days.
-This has just been announced following the telematic meeting of the various Territorial Public Health High Impact Alert Committees, or expert committees. Therefore, the new measures will come into force at 00.00 hours on Friday 19 February 2021, after publication in the extraordinary BOJA which will come out Thursday night.
-This is one of the main measures agreed in these eight provincial meetings in which the new confinements have been decreed for all those Andalusian municipalities that exceed the contagion rate of 500 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants, in addition to those that exceed a thousand cases, in which case they will also have to close the businesses considered non-essential.
-Likewise, all those who have exceeded these two infection thresholds on Thursday will be under restrictions for seven days, that is, until 00:00 hours on 26 February. This new measure also affects the towns that have been closed since last Saturday and which will no longer comply with these restrictions as of midnight tonight. And this is thanks to the downward trend they have been following over the last six days. This new determination will be published, as well as the previous one, in the BOJA of this Thursday.
The good evolution of the incidence data has made it possible to bring forward the entry into force of the new measures by one day. The aim is to facilitate economic activity and mobility in those places where there is full evidence that the data have experienced a very favourable evolution, according to Junta sources. Source, Spanish: https://sevilla.abc.es/andalucia/sevi-coronavirus-andalucia-nuevos-cierres-perimetrales-empiezan-este-viernes-y-no-sabado-como-estaba-previsto-202102181903_noticia.html

Update From Junta de Andalucía’s Minister of Health, Jesús Aguirre: (Updated 18 February 2021, 18:49) Speaking to journalists, he pointed out that any easing of mobility restrictions will be done with “great care” and “nothing will even be considered until after Andalucía Day”. These current restrictions were put in place at least until 00.00 hours on Saturday 27 February. But now the regional government has said that the measures will be studied again after the Día de Andalucía (28 February) although this year the holiday is moved to Monday, 1 March.
However, he warned that the ‘British’ variant, which is “much more contagious”, will soon be the cause of the majority of cases in the region and “we must not lower our guard”.
Aguirre said that the strain, first identified in the UK, currently accounts for 41 per cent of cases in Andalucía, “but seeing the speed of growth it has, it will be the majority within a week or ten days”. Spain announces new target groups for coronavirus vaccination: Spanish health officials on Wednesday defined new priority groups for the coronavirus vaccine.
-Shortly after several regions began inoculating the 80-and-over population, the public health committee of the National Healthcare System said that next in line for the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are people between 70 and 79 years of age, who will in turn be followed by the 60-to-69 age bracket.
-This expert committee also decided that the AstraZeneca vaccine, which is being administered to around 5.1 million essential workers (such as teachers and police officers) under 55 years of age, will next target the general population between 45 and 54, as well as any under-60s with pre-existing health conditions that make them especially vulnerable to Covid-19. These medical conditions have not yet been defined, however.
-What is also unclear is exactly when these new priority groups will get their shots, as this depends on the size of the shipments and the speed of administration in a healthcare system whose resources are already stretched thin.
-Different regions of Spain are proceeding at different speeds. For now, seven have begun immunizing the 80-and-over population, while most are still working on the Phase 1 priority groups: residents and workers of care facilities, health personnel and people with need for daily assistance who do not live in a care home. Meanwhile, essential workers under 55 are also getting immunized with the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine.
-Although no specific timelines have been announced, the goal is to vaccinate 80% of seniors 80 and over before the end of March, which means administering two doses to around 2.8 million people. But other groups will likely start getting their first jabs before that process ends, to ensure that there are no breaks in the pace of vaccination. EU announces list of accepted Covid rapid antigen tests, says results should be in English:
-“Member States agree that Covid-19 test results should be made available in the national language(s) of the country where the test was taken, as well as English,” the committee said. That should simplify matters for people travelling not only within the EU but also between Europe and the UK, which currently requires arriving travellers to show a negative test result in either English, French or Spanish, with translations not accepted.
-The health security committee on Thursday published a list of 16 rapid antigen tests that it said would be mutually recognized in all member states.

UK travelers to Spain offered alternatives to prove Spanish residency: The list of acceptable documents, which have reportedly been communicated to airlines and other operators, is as follows:

-Temporary or permanent EU residence certificate (Certificado de Registro de Ciudadanos de la Unión)
-Receipt of application for the TIE (Resguardo de presentación de la solicitud de la tarjeta de residencia)
-Confirmation of the positive outcome of your residence application (Resolución favorable por la que se concede la tarjeta de residencia)
-In the absence of any of the above documents, other documents that credibly evidence your legal residence in Spain before January 1, 2021, are a padrón certificate (issued by your town hall), a work contract, a rental contract, or proof of property purchase
-In the case of students, documentation that demonstrates enrolment in an on-site or in-person course and proof of accommodation
-In addition, travelers must show a valid passport and comply with the other documentation requirements, such as a negative COVID test within 72 hours of arrival. Full article: https://english.elpais.com/spanish_news/2021-02-18/uk-travelers-to-spain-offered-alternatives-to-prove-residency.html

Spanish police find 4 million fake masks: Police found the masks in cardboard boxes on the ground floor and in a warehouse of a hotel in Leganes on the southern outskirts of Madrid. Fakebook Resorts To Bully Tactics Against Australia, Faces International Condemnation and Boycotts: The dispute centers on a planned Australian law that would require Facebook and Alphabet Inc’s Google to reach deals to pay news outlets whose links drive traffic to their platforms, or agree on a price through arbitration.
Facebook faced backlash from publishers and politicians on Thursday after blocking news feeds in Australia in a surprise escalation of a dispute with the government over a law to require it to share revenue from news. Facebook wiped out pages from Australian state governments and charities as well as from domestic and international news organisations, three days before the launch of a nationwide COVID-19 vaccination programme.
Though the measure was limited to Australia, European publishers along with British and Canadian politicians described it as an attempt to put pressure on governments that might consider similar measures.
“Facebook’s actions to unfriend Australia today, cutting off essential information services on health and emergency services, were as arrogant as they were disappointing,” Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison wrote on his own Facebook page. “These actions will only confirm the concerns that an increasing number of countries are expressing about the behaviour of Big Tech companies who think they are bigger than governments and that the rules should not apply to them.”

Andalusia adds 1,788 coronavirus infections, the best Wednesday since December: {Translated from secilla.abc.es}
Updated: 17/02/2021 20:13
-Andalusia today has 1,788 cases of coronavirus, the lowest number for a Wednesday since last December. The curve of the third wave continues its descent at cruising speed, which is reflected in the accumulated incidence.
-This rate, which measures the speed and virulence of infections, now stands at 411 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The figure is high since anything above 250 points is considered “maximum risk”. However, the evolution of Andalusia is remarkable because only a fortnight ago the increased incidence rate was above 900 points, more than double.
-The most encouraging improvement is in the number of deaths, which seems to be moderating. Thus, 77 deaths have been recorded, which is a very high figure but still below the 100 figure at which the community had settled a couple of weeks ago.
-However, it is still too early to tell whether this drop in fatalities is a “saw tooth” in the statistics or marks the start of a trend towards lower numbers of fatalities. February has been the darkest month so far, with more deaths than any other month since the start of the pandemic, reflecting the peak of the third wave of infections, which reached almost 8,000 per day.
-Meanwhile, the pressure in hospitals continues to drop. This Wednesday there are 3,191 people admitted for coronavirus, 197 less than yesterday. In the ICU, meanwhile, the number of hospitalised patients has fallen by 21, so that there are 643 on Wednesday compared with 664 yesterday. Source, Spanish:

Vax Appointments- If they call you from 955800008, take it because it is your doctor from the Andalusian Health Service: {Translated from secilla.abc.es}
If you receive a call from 955.800.008, do not hesitate to pick up. It’s your doctor. Or, at least, the health center, because that is the new number for all outgoing calls made from their switchboards. This has been announced by the Andalusian Health Service (SAS), which has explained that, “progressively” there will stop appearing “long numbers of switchboard or hidden numbers when a call is received from the SAS.”
This new number is being implemented progressively “in some health centers in Andalusia until reaching the hospitals and reaching all the services provided by the SAS .” The pilot service, Health sources report, has begun in Almería, Córdoba and Seville. From Health they hope that the new number will be implemented “to the entire network of 1,500 health centers in a few months.” Source, Spanish: https://sevilla.abc.es/andalucia/sevi-si-llaman-955800008-cojalo-porque-medico-servicio-andaluz-salud-202102171650_noticia.html

Covid-19 can lead to GANGRENE: Virus causes the body to attack itself leading to severe, long-term muscle and joint pain, MRI scans reveal. Researchers have warned that Covid-19 can cause long-term muscle and joint issues, including arthritis, gangrene and ‘Covid toes’.
An analysis of MRI scans taken of patients experiencing these symptoms suggests that the virus can trigger the body’s immune system to attack itself, leading to these long-lasting rheumatological issues.
The study follows recent reports of a Covid-infected woman who had to have three fingers amputated in Italy after the disease ravaged her blood vessels. Other sufferers have also had to undergo amputations. Photo&Full article: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-9270487/Covid-19-lead-GANGRENE-study-warns.html

Spain probes anti-Semitic speech at ‘horrific’ neo-Nazi rally:
Prosecutors in Madrid on Tuesday said they had opened an investigation into anti-Semitic comments made at a neo-Nazi rally held at the weekend which drew ire from Spain’s Jewish community.
The incident took place Saturday when around 300 people gathered at La Almudena cemetery, with footage on social media showing several people in the crowd repeatedly giving the Nazi salute. The rally, which was also attended by a Catholic priest, was a commemoration of the so-called “Blue Division”, a unit of Spanish military volunteers that fought for the Nazis during World War II. Recommendations & Requests

Recomendation: I was extremely pleased with the services provided by Archgrove Services (a DigameXtra sponsor, see contact info in the Sponsor’s Section of every issue) for a local move of some household furnishings and personal items.
Lea arrived at the appointed time in a large van which was clean and spacious. He worked the whole time with enthusiasm and good speed, lifting and stowing all of the items in a secure and careful manner. Everything arrived to it’s new destination intact.
I had no hesitation to call upon Lea a week later for a second load.
Highly recommend Archgrove Services for your moving needs.

Andalusia accelerates its descent from the wave and has less than a thousand coronavirus infections: {Translated from sevilla.abc.es}
-The curve of the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic is steeply descending. So much so that this Tuesday the community has added less than a thousand infections, a figure that has not been seen for two months. We have to go back to the end of December last year to see such a low number of new cases. Thus, Andalusia has added 972 infections this Tuesday.
-Malaga is the province with the most confirmed cases this day with 266, followed by Seville with 215, Cadiz with 174, Almeria with 131, Cordoba with 66, Granada with 61, Jaen with 33 and Huelva with 26.
-In addition, the cumulative incidence rate in Andalusia has fallen this Monday to 451.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days when a week ago it exceeded 700 points and two weeks ago it was close to a thousand.
-As a result of this reduction in the number of cases that the community has been experiencing for a couple of weeks now, the health pressure is also dropping. So much so that this Tuesday, a day that always means a small increase in the number of patients admitted, there has been a decrease. It is minimal – there are 9 fewer coronavirus patients in Andalusian hospitals – but it is a measure of the speed with which the number of hospital admissions is falling.
-Thus, in total there are 3,388 people hospitalized in the community for coronavirus, 664 of them in the ICU, where the number of patients has also fallen by six.
More than 100 deaths
-Where there is no improvement for now – and it may take days yet to turn green – is in the number of deaths, which is once again above one hundred per day. On Tuesday, 113 deaths were recorded after a weekend in which no more than 40 per day were recorded. This is not surprising.
-Sundays and Mondays tend to reflect fewer fatalities due to a disorganisation in the reporting of fatalities. These figures are usually corrected from Tuesday onwards, when the evolution of the curve of fatalities is shown.
-On this day, Cadiz is once again the province with the most deaths with 22, followed by Almeria with 20, Seville and Malaga with 19 each, Granada with 16, Jaen with seven, and Cordoba and Huelva with five each. Bars and shops will continue to close at six o’clock due to the coronavirus crisis in Andalusia: {Translated from sevilla.abc.es}
-Bars, restaurants and shops will continue to close at six o’clock in the evening in Andalusia due to the coronavirus crisis. This was indicated by the Minister of Health and Families, Jesús Aguirre, in his appearance after the Governing Council held on Tuesday.
-Thus, “in the short term there are no plans to extend working hours in the hotel and catering or commerce sectors”, said Aguirre, who pointed out that an extension of working hours for these sectors will only take place when the downward trend of the pandemic is “clear and established”.
-For the health minister, it is essential to be able to guarantee that “there is no rise or anything that could lead to a fourth wave” of the pandemic before considering reopening bars in the afternoon in Andalusia.
-“We work in a serious way with parameters that give you more or less opening per incidence. And we are talking about parameters of more or less 500 or 1000 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants”, Aguirre recalled, who took the opportunity to thank the hotel and catering industry and commerce for their “effort” during the coronavirus pandemic.

Bendodo- “Now some communist gentlemen come to tell us that ham and oil are harmful to health”:  {Translated from sevilla.abc.es}
-The Andalusian government is rebelling against the nutritional traffic light that the Ministry of Consumer Affairs intends to introduce to warn us whether or not a food is harmful to our health. Two of Andalusia’s most exported products, olive oil and Iberian ham, get a C and an E, in orange and red, and would form part of the group of foods classified as “occasional consumption” and “not recommended”, respectively.
-The Junta de Andalucía does not like this classification, which it considers an “attack” on two emblematic products of the region’s agriculture, livestock and gastronomy. “Now come these communist gentlemen and tell us that even ham and oil are harmful,” complained the government spokesman, Elías Bendodo, referring to Alberto Garzón, the Minister for Consumer Affairs.
-The Minister of the Presidency has assured that these sectors “provide many thousands of jobs in our land” and has called for an end to the attacks on the Andalusian countryside.
Harmful
-“This, that olive oil and ham can be harmful to health can be suggested by the same minister who said that tourism was precarious and seasonal”, stressed Bendodo.
-Faced with criticism from olive oil producers, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs announced that it would remove the liquid gold from the Nutriscore traffic light. “Under no circumstances is the olive oil sector going to be forced to use a label that goes against scientific evidence,” said Alberto Garzón, the Minister for Consumer Affairs on Canal Sur Televisión.
-The Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Sustainable Development has informed the Governing Council of the request to the Spanish Government for a singular and specific treatment on the Nutriscore scale for olive oil and other products, such as those derived from Iberian pork, due to their proven health value.
-The Junta de Andalucía considers necessary a revision of the system used by Nutriscore for the categorisation of some foods such as olive oil, which should have a recognition of the highest level of nutritional quality on this scale (‘A’ dark green) and yet is included in the intermediate level (‘C’ yellow). This disparity in categorisation is due to the fact that the algorithm used by Nutriscore currently considers the calorie content of foods as the main parameter, without taking into account the scientifically proven benefits of, for example, the consumption of olive oil.
-In a similar situation are products derived from the Iberian pig, whose qualification also deserves specific treatment as they are products with healthy properties that have not been taken into consideration in the process of assigning scores in this nutritional information tool.
-Agriculture’s request, which is also supported by the Regional Ministry of Health and Families, is in response to the fact that the Ministry of Consumer Affairs is currently processing the draft Royal Decree implementing the Nutriscore scale in Spain. Its aim is to provide consumers with clear information on the nutritional quality of foods so that they can choose the healthiest option. To this end, it is proposed to include on the front of food packaging the corresponding Nutriscore scale logo, which consists of five colours (from dark green to dark orange) associated with five letters (from ‘A’ to ‘E’).
-This simplified method of product identification is based on the presence of certain nutrients per 100 grams of food. Among the less nutritionally favourable components, Nutriscore considers calories, sugars, saturated fatty acids and sodium. Among the nutrients considered more favourable are, for example, protein, dietary fibre or the percentage of fruit, vegetables, pulses and nuts. Pirate TV Streaming App Mobdro Disappears, Users in Mourning: It is not uncommon for piracy-based sites and services to disappear offline for a while. Problems with sources, hosting and domain names can all cause issues. Indeed, over the years Mobdro has hopped to additional domains too, from Mobdro.com and Mobdro.sc, to Mobdro.bz more recently.
This instability can cause problems for people looking to download the app but issues with the underlying streams are more immediately noticeable to users. Cries that Mobdro is no longer working are abundant on Twitter but to date there has been no official announcement from the developer behind the streaming tool. Forty-five new speed cameras for Spain’s roads: Spanish Traffic Department plans to install 45 new speed cameras in the coming months. This will bring the total to more than 1,400 speed traps in Spain to control speeding and fine drivers who go over the speed limit. The government has said that the process has already begun and that the speed cameras will mainly be section radars which could be operational before the end of the year. The Spanish Traffic Department (DGT) says there are currently 1,392 radars on the roads, of which 764 are fixed, 548 are mobile, and 80 are sectional, which means that they monitor the time it takes a vehicle to get between one point and another. The Traffic Department has been collecting more than €1 million per day since 2008 in fines for drivers who violate traffic regulations. Photo:Shutterstock. Health Minister Jesús Aguirre speaks about a possible “fourth wave” of the coronavirus pandemic in Andalusia: {Translated from sevilla.abc.es}
-The Regional Minister for Health and Families, Jesús Aguirre, has assured this Sunday that both “prevention measures” and “Covid units, circuits and respirators” will be maintained in the face of the possibility of a fourth wave which, in Aguirre’s opinion, could arrive “as a result of mutations and different strains of the virus”.
-Aguirre made this statement in an interview on the Ser, picked up by Europa Press, in which, asked about the possibility of the arrival of a fourth wave, he said that “one thing is his wish”, which is that “there will not be one”, but he argued that the Junta has to “act proactively, think that there could be one and not let our guard down”.
-He stated that the Andalusian government will be “very prudent” and will continue to maintain the perimeter closures, the curfew and the closure of non-essential activity at 18.00 hours. “We are going to maintain coercive measures to reduce the number of admissions,” explained Aguirre.
-The councillor also pointed out that in the last four days this wave is falling “more sharply than the others”, but warned that “there are many doubts with emerging strains” so, in any case, he advocates “maximum caution”. “Although it can be seen that we are going down, we do not want to make an abrupt de-escalation,” he said, while calling for “maintaining the measures to avoid contagion”.
-He pointed out that this third wave has been “the hardest of all” and said that, at present, “it is declining”. “Let’s hope that the fourth wave doesn’t arrive, that this pandemic is a bad dream and that we forget it soon,” he said.
-Despite being “a very tough wave and with a very high number of deaths”, Aguirre said that “there is a clear downward trend” and he hopes that this will be “as pronounced as possible”.
-In this regard, he announced that the cumulative incidence rate in Andalusia is 513 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days and 171 cases in the last seven days. Photo:ABC

What you need to know about Spain’s restrictions on cloth face masks: The Spanish government wants to prevent ineffective material or cloth face masks from being sold to the public. Here’s what we know about the stricter rules for their sale.
The country’s Ministry of Consumer Affairs is expected to approve an amendment on Thursday which would see cloth or material face masks sold to the public have to be 90 percent efficient to be considered face masks that can help prevent Covid-19 infections.
The government’s advice has up to now been to wear only certified (homologadas) face masks, mainly the surgical blue disposable ones and the cone-shaped FFP2 white ones (both 92 to 98 percent efficient), but it hasn’t moved to prevent the sale of other material ones which are sold in shops. Czech government agrees last-minute COVID-19 lockdown deal: The Czech government reached a last-minute deal with regional governors on Sunday to call a new state of emergency for 14 days and avert a chaotic end to coronavirus lockdown measures.
The infection rate is the second-highest in Europe behind Portugal, with more than 900 cases per 100,000 people over the past two weeks, according to data from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). That is more than four times neighbouring Germany, which has imposed entry bans on Czech travellers.

UK hits target- Gives at least 1 vaccine shot to 15 million: (London AP) The U.K. announced Sunday that it had reached its goal of giving at least one COVID-19 vaccine shot to the most vulnerable people in the country, increasing pressure on ministers to clarify when they will ease a lockdown imposed in early January.
More than 15 million people, or 22% of the U.K. population, have received their first shot. The figure includes most people in the government’s top four priority groups, including everyone over 75, frontline healthcare workers and nursing home staff and residents. Over 537,000 of them have also received their second dose. Full article: https://www.sfchronicle.com/news/article/UK-hits-target-Giving-at-least-1-vaccine-shot-to-15950209.php

Germany Partially Closes Borders Despite EU Criticism: Germany partially closed its borders with the Czech Republic and Austria’s Tyrol on Sunday over a troubling surge in coronavirus mutations, drawing a swift rebuke from the European Union. The Sexual Problem COVID Is Causing That No One Is Talking About: Breathlessness is certainly a big issue when it comes to the effects of long COVID. Jessica Kirby, head of health advice at the British Lung Foundation, agrees: “We’ve heard from many people struggling with breathlessness after having COVID. Last year, more than 50,000 people visited our website to get advice on sex and breathlessness, an increase from 2019, so it’s clearly an issue people are worried about.”
Confusingly, the chance of having long-term symptoms doesn’t seem to be linked to how ill a person is when they first get coronavirus, says the NHS. In fact, there are many unknowns when it comes to long COVID, with some experts highlighting an urgent need for more research into what they believe could present a “significant health burden worldwide”. ‘Boris’ burrow’ tunnel linking Northern Ireland and Scotland set to get the green light: A 25-mile undersea tunnel linking Scotland and Northern Ireland could get the green light next month, it has been reported.
The new connection, informally known as “Boris’ burrow”, could help ease Brexit tensions over trade and boost the UK economy by making it easier for the transportation of goods.
Boris Johnson first backed the idea of connecting Larne in Northern Ireland to Stranraer in Scotland with a bridge when he was foreign secretary in 2018.
But now ministers are said to be considering a 25 mile long tunnel with a road and rail link instead of a bridge. Full article: https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/boris-burrow-tunnel-northern-ireland-scotland-b919753.html

Clearly in discomfort for much of the contest, Djokovic managed to grind out a 7-6, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory over the big-serving Canadian, who himself picked up an injury, to his ankle, during the match inside Rod Laver Arena. Powerful earthquake rocks Fukushima in Japan: A strong earthquake struck off the coast of Fukushima, Japan, on Saturday, just weeks before the 10-year anniversary of the deadly 2011 tsunami.
The quake was 7.3 magnitude and was felt strongly in Tokyo, but a tsunami warning has not been issued, weather officials said.
Almost one million homes are now without power in the region.
This struck near the epicentre of a 2011 quake, which triggered a tsunami and killed more than 18,000 people.
That tsunami caused a nuclear accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant – the world’s most severe nuclear accident since the Chernobyl disaster in 1986.
Saturday’s quake occurred at 23:08 local time (14:08 GMT) at a depth of 60km (37 miles) in the Pacific, off Japan’s eastern coast, Japan’s meteorological agency (JMA) said.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Katsunobu Kato told reporters that evaluations were under way, including of the region’s nuclear plants. Full article: https://www.msn.com/en-xl/news/other/powerful-earthquake-rocks-fukushima-in-japan/ar-BB1dEIHr

Big Brother Is Moving In- Google chooses Malaga to open a cybersecurity research and training center: And get this…Google will be moving into the building of the old Military Government, located on Paseo de la Farola. Yikes! The symbology will spur on some interesting conspiracy theories no doubt.
Could Malaga be the new Silicon Valley? Well maybe, at least that explains the new super fast internet speeds now available in the larger towns. In the rooms of this building, when the works are completed, Google will be offering training, talks, workshops and mentoring on cybersecurity, in addition to developing research and product development. Google intends to invest more than 650 million dollars in five years in Spain to help the digital transformation of the country.
This is just the kind of stimulus we need in this region. Investors will be attracted to the new tech hub. They will bring in new businesses and the associated support services, providing desperately needed jobs for all, and especially benefitting the tech savvy young people.
We may well become a testing ground for all kinds of new wizardry, some good, others not so much. Among the things we could see in the not so far off future are: self checkout at shops, driverless cars, robot deliveries, ubiquitous surveillance, smart-homes, smart glasses, hologram clerks & entertainers and health tracking implants.

Highest daily death toll of the Covid-19 pandemic in Andalucía: Andalucía has registered 127 coronavirus deaths this Friday (12 February) – the highest number of people who have lost their lives with Covid-19 since the start of the health crisis.
This daily figure is above the 126 that were recorded last Tuesday and represents the fourth consecutive day with more than one hundred deaths from the virus, according to data from the Junta de Andalucía’s Ministry of Health. Full article: http://www.surinenglish.com/national/202102/12/black-friday-highest-daily-20210212130452.html

Spain records highest weekly number of Covid deaths since first wave at 3,415: The last seven days have been the worst in terms of coronavirus deaths since the first wave of the pandemic in Spain in the spring of 2020. According to the latest report from the Spanish Health Ministry, which was released on Thursday, a total of 3,415 people have died after a positive Covid-19 test over the last week. And this figure is on the rise, up 11.35% from a week before.
-The worsening data in terms of coronavirus victims is the consequence of the spike in new infections that was seen three or four weeks ago, when the number of new cases hit a high after the increased social activity that took place over the Christmas season.
-The good news, however, is that new cases have fallen to 17,853, with a seven-day cumulative figure of 128,029. A week ago this last figure was 208,424. In total, 3,041,454 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in Spain since the health crisis began. Boris to lay out roadmap for easing lockdown over coming months on 22 February, No10 confirms: The plan to ease the coronavirus lockdown in England will be set out in 10 days after some Tory MPs expressed concern that the timetable may have slipped back further.
A No10 spokesman said: “On 22 February, we will set out a gradual and phased approach towards easing the restrictions in a sustainable way.”
Concerns of a delay among Tory lockdown-sceptics were raised on Thursday when the prime minister’s official spokesman said: “We’ve been clear we will publish the road map on the week of the 22nd.”
On Friday, the No10 spokesman did not rule out that one option being considered is social distancing being maintained until the autumn. Full article: https://www.lbc.co.uk/news/boris-johnson-lay-out-roadmap-easing-lockdown-coming-months-22-february-covid/

Parts of England have already started vaccinating the over-65s with a first dose after reaching everyone in the top four priority groups – including the over-70s and care home residents – who wanted a jab. Beer and wine are exempted from the 6pm alcohol ban in Andalusia: The Junta de Andalucia announced that the new law banning the sale of alcohol after 6 PM will only be applied to spirits with an alcohol volume of over 21%.
The government explained that “the purchase of spirits is associated with meetings of certain age groups” – saying that the ban on high volume alcohol will prevent gatherings of young people as seen across the region despite lockdown measures. Attention owners- neighborhood association meetings by Zoom can be judicially annulled: Neighborhood communities are obliged to hold a general meeting, at least once a year, to approve accounts, renew positions and deal with matters that require the consent of the owners: spills for works, legal actions against defaulters, etc. However, the current Horizontal Property Law does not contemplate that these matters can be dealt with electronically. Specifically, the regulation provides that the owners attend the meetings in person and in any case delegate their vote to a third person. Nothing more. These strict legal requirements, together with restrictions related to the state of alarm, could serve as the legal basis for requesting the cancellation of any informal meeting that has taken place in the last eleven months, according to experts.
