NEW UPDATES- Covid Restriction Maps

Axarquia (except Archez) Moves Down To Level 3 Grade 1 Restrictions, See News Section For Details.

This Covid restriction map site has just been updated.  https://www.mapacovid.es/

Another good, reliable source for updated Covid news, announcements and statistics is the Junta de Andalucia’s FB page. It’s mostly in Spanish but they post easy to understand charts and graphs. For English, use a page translator as they have not enabled FB auto-translations on the page for some reason? https://www.facebook.com/AndaluciaJunta/

DoctorLaptop’s Full Computer Maintenance Servicing:
If you rely on your laptop for school, shopping or communications and want it running at peak performance, an annual professional servicing is necessary. This is especially true in these current times where people have their laptops on all day. You wouldn’t drive your car till it runs out of oil before servicing it, would you? If you did, the repair would be far more than the cost of the oil change you neglected. Same thing with computers, and laptops in particular.
I do the most comprehensive cleaning and tune-up possible: After an internal cleaning I verify all System files replacing any found to be corrupt, test all hardware and do hard disk sector repairs if needed, use 5 tool malware/adware/spyware removal protocol, update Windows+all drivers+programs, and finally optimize your settings for fastest overall performance. I use a special on-line scanner with real-time behavioral analysis (which takes 6 to 10 hours), that will detect and remove malware that normal anti-virus programs cannot detect!
Price is €60. Job usually completed overnight. If you have multiple hard drives, or the hard drive is 1Tb or larger add €20.
Heavily infected computers, or those showing error messages, need a repair, not this maintenance service.  This service is for slow but otherwise healthy computers. If you have any specific problems, ask for an inspection & repair.

Spain’s regions move to ease coronavirus restrictions despite high contagion rates: Several territories, such as Madrid, are relaxing measures, even though the incidence level nationwide remains above 250 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, considered to indicate a situation of “extreme risk”.
Since yesterday, the Madrid region has changed its curfew time from 10pm to 11pm, and is allowing bars and restaurants to stay open until the same time (until Thursday they had to close at 9pm). Castilla y León, for its part, will be lifting the perimetral lockdown of some of its provinces, while Aragón will be suspending the confinement of the cities of Zaragoza and Calatayud. The experts, meanwhile, are calling for caution with these deescalation measures and have warned about the spread of the more contagious strain of the coronavirus first identified in the United Kingdom. Gibraltar chief minister says that Covid-19 infection has been “effectively suppressed”: Gibraltar is easing more restrictions from Monday, as the R rate of the virus is now well below 0.5 and few new cases are being found through mass testing.
As a result, from Monday schools will reopen as planned and so will children’s parks. Masks will only be necessary in Main Street, in shops and internal public places, and sport may begin again as long as the maximum number of 12 people gathering is respected.
Bars and restaurants are scheduled to reopen from 1 March.
The existing curfew from 10pm to 6am will continue until at least 14 March.
*Warning about going to Spain*
Chief minister Fabian Picardo announced at this Friday’s press conference that the Covid-19 infection has been “effectively suppressed”, but warned that infection rates are still high in Andalucía and asked people from Gibraltar to be very careful if they go to Spain.
“Please do not bring Covid on yourself or your family or your friends by going out to look for it in Spain. If you go to Spain, be very cautious. Please be a little more patient. Please be a little more cautious before you think that life is entirely back to normal,” he said. Photo:AFP. Ireland won’t consider re-opening hospitality before mid-summer says PM: “No consideration will be given to opening hospitality until mid-summer … the numbers of the virus are far too high,” Martin said in an Irish language interview with state broadcaster RTE. “Any easing of the restrictions has to be slow and cautious because of the threat from new variants of the disease,” he said.
Ireland on Friday also said it had registered its first cases of another COVID-19 variant first discovered in Brazil, but said the cluster had been contained. Photo:Clodagh Kilcoyne. Strains test Spain’s leftist coalition government: In office for just over a year, Spain’s leftwing coalition grouping the Socialists and hard-left Podemos is showing signs of strain with constant bickering between the two camps.
The latest clash between Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez’s Socialists and his junior partners was triggered by this week’s violent protests over the jailing of a rapper for controversial tweets with the demonstrations applauded by Podemos.
But in recent months the sparks have flown with greater frequency and over more issues, such as the Catalan regional elections on February 14th, said Anton Losada a political scientist at Santiago de Compostela University.
The main disagreements have been over social policy and immigration, portfolios held by the Socialists, with Podemos denouncing the treatment of thousands of migrants who have landed on Spain’s Canary Islands, for example.
The friction in the coalition stems from the fact that the Socialists, as the majority partner, believe they should have the monopoly on government action “while the smaller party feels constantly threatened and feels the need to claim its space,” said Losada.
The Socialists have 120 seats in Spain’s 350-seat parliament, while Podemos holds 35.
Jose Ignacio Torreblanca of the European Council on Foreign Relations said Podemos is “afraid of being rendered irrelevant” so it lashes out “viciously to maintain visibility and try and show there are two partners with the same strength”. Spain braces for fifth night of protests over rapper’s arrest: Authorities in Spain are braced for a fifth night of protests on Saturday over the imprisonment of a rap artist for glorifying terrorism and insulting royalty in his music and on Twitter.
Organisers called for demonstrations in Madrid and Barcelona, where protests on previous nights featured clashes with police, property damage and looting. Police in Catalonia have reported at least three mob attacks on police stations. Rioters smashed their way into bank offices in downtown Barcelona, burned trash containers and looted sporting goods stores on Friday night.
About 80 people have been arrested, including four on Friday night, and more than 100 people have been injured since the rapper, Pablo Hasél, was arrested on Tuesday in the north-east city of Lleida and taken away to begin serving a nine-month prison sentence.

Elon Musk’s Comments Cause Bitcoin Turmoil- Was It All A “Pump & Dump” Ploy?: Billionaire CEO Elon Musk said on Saturday the price of bitcoin and ethereum seemed high. This comes at a time when the cryptocurrencies have just hit record highs, and coming several weeks after his well publicized purchase of a billion dollars worth of Bitcoin, with bitcoin subsequently crossing the $1 trillion market-capitalization threshold. This has many anxious investors concerned that he will now grab his profits in a major sell-off, and move his money to some other exploitable financial instrument. Norway Seeks To Decriminalise Recreational Drug Use: Norway’s government on Friday proposed a bill aimed at decriminalising the possession and use of small amounts of narcotics, saying users should be offered treatment rather than face jail. The proposal comes with set thresholds for what should be considered a small amount for different illicit substances: two grams for cocaine, heroin or amphetamines, 10 grams for cannabis and 500 grams (17.6 oz) for khat. Ecologists Call Velez Malaga’s River ‘a Sewer’: Officials from the Axarquia Nature Studies Cabinet (GENA), said there has been a “failure to monitor and control discharges in the riverbed, contrasting with the campaigns to sanitise the streets of urban centres.” They said the result was “a sewer,” saying there had been, “a large discharge of sewage, certainly fecal in nature, judging by the smell they give off, on the bed of the Velez river, under the highway viaduct.” Full article: https://www.euroweeklynews.com/2021/02/20/velez-malaga-river-a-sewer/
