Pre-planning your funeral is a thoughtful and responsible way to show you care about your family.
Funerals are no easy task. There are numerous considerations to factor in, including logistics, food and drink, casket purchase and burial grounds. A loved one’s death brings immense emotional strain to any family, and the question of financing and arrangements only exacerbates the stress.

Purchasing a funeral plan with Golden Leaves enables you to plan, design and pay for your funeral services in advance.

Vetiver Spain in Sayalonga is now fully open!
We have started to receive clients but by appointment only. It is wonderful to finally be able to have visitors! We are of course following the legal guidelines regarding masks and social distancing.
The summer is a great time to plant Vetiver as this plant is indigenous to India. Vetiver loves the heat of summer to grow. Vetiver is often used as a wind barrier in the fall and winter months. Vetiver is the best plant to stabilise erosion prone locations before the first fall rains come. We have plenty of plants in stock for either pickup or delivery via the Spanish Correos.
It is always a great way to spend a day in the garden.
We also have Moringa seeds, Lemon Grass, Moringa seedlings and now our new product, Organic Moringa Powder. If you do not know the medicinal powers of Moringa you can check it out here. https://www.vetiverspain.org/moringa-oleifera-.html
This month we have some specials for both pickup and shipments.

Regional government plans to close Andalucía for the All Saints holiday weekend (Sat. Oct. 31 thru Mon. Nov. 2): The regional government has announced that it is planning to close Andalucía’s borders for this long All Saints holiday weekend. The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, said he was in favour of the measure in an interview on the Cope radio station on Tuesday morning, although he added that a final decision would be announced on Wednesday after hearing advice from his committee of experts. (I will post that info here, hopefully tomorrow, after the official announcement is released. -Ed.)

Andalucía adds 54 deaths in a single day, the highest figure in the second wave of the coronavirus: {Translated from https://seville.abc.es} Andalucia registers 2,823 infections of Covid-19 and the number of hospitalized in the last 24 hours increases by 118. The Junta de Andalucía warns about the aggressive wave and the sharp increase in hospitalizations.
Day by day, Andalusia is approaching the peak of the first wave epidemic. The figures for the evolution of the curve invite pessimism. This Tuesday, three records were beaten in the second onslaught of the pandemic in the community: the volume of deaths, the number of infections on a Tuesday day and the accumulated number of hospitalized. This Tuesday there have been 54 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. This is the highest number of deaths in the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, according to updated data from the Andalusian Institute of Statistics and Cartography (IECA).
The increase in infections has once again subjected Andalusian hospitals to a tough stress test. In the last 24 hours, there have been reported 118 more hospitalizations, bringing the number of hospitalized patients to 2,262 today. Spain planning to hike taxes on rich and companies, Update: Spain plans to increase taxes on corporations and the wealthy to help fund greater spending on infrastructure and health and rebuild its pandemic-ravaged economy, according to the government’s draft budget for 2021 presented Tuesday.
If the hikes are approved, large business groups will pay more corporate tax through limitations on deductions involving dividends and capital gains obtained through subsidiaries. Tax will go up three percentage points for capital gains of €200,000 and over, and two points for wage and salary income of more than €300,000. The deal also sets a minimum tax rate of 15% for real estate investment trusts. Only risk groups and their partners have access to flu vaccination in Andalucia: {Translated from https://seville.abc.es} The shortage of doses in pharmacies prevents the rest of the population from getting it.
The measure of monopolizing the largest number of doses has caused shortages in pharmacies, so that at the moment the people who decided to get vaccinated on their own in the previous campaign by acquiring the vaccine cannot do so on this occasion, despite the repeated calls to the general population to get vaccinated against the flu.
Sources from the Ministry told ABC that the message is directed especially to the population at risk and reminded the rest of the population that the consequences of a flu contagion without being at risk are generally slight and that the risk of contagion of the flu this season is less precisely because of the prevention measures that are followed against the coronavirus with the use of a mask, respect for distance and continuous hand washing. Andalucía to announce new Covid-19 measures on Wednesday based on pandemic figures: The regional authority will keep an eye on figures over the next two days and will make new decisions on Wednesday, said Juanma Moreno after taking part in a meeting that prime minister Pedro Sánchez held with all regional presidents. The government in Andalucía would be “agile but not impulsive” said Moreno, adding that any decisions would be made based on the advice from the Junta’s technical-scientific committee. Spain’s COVID-19 state of emergency faces backlash: Opposition parties said that was too long, epidemiologists said the move may be too little too late, and some citizens balked at nightly curfews.
“The curfew doesn’t make much sense. Does the virus only infect people between 2300 and 0600? No,” said Marta Aragoneses, a 36-year old schoolteacher, enjoying a cigarette outside a cafe in Madrid’s historic La Latina neighbourhood.
Nearby, Mariano Moreno de Guerra, a pharmacist on his way to work, said what worried him was the length of the state of emergency and the powers it gave authorities.
“They are acquiring a taste for confining people and that could be dangerous. Extending it by six months is an absolute outrage. I see a lot of potential for abuse.” Full article: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-spain/spains-covid-19-state-of-emergency-faces-backlash-idUSKBN27B1Q2?il=0

Curfew Causes Clash Between the Government and the Main Opposition Party: {Translated from https://seville.abc.es} The Executive of Pedro Sánchez rejects the condition of limiting the state of alarm to a duration of eight weeks, as had demanded PP leader Pablo Casado, and will officially request a six-month extension tomorrow, which will be voted on this week in the Congress of Deputies. Casado has asked for a time limit of eight weeks and that a “Plan B”, a legal alternative to constitutional exceptionality, be launched. Experts Warn of Privacy Risks Caused by Link Previews in Messaging Apps: Cybersecurity researchers over the weekend disclosed new security risks associated with link previews in popular messaging apps that cause the services to leak IP addresses, expose links sent via end-to-end encrypted chats, and even unnecessarily download gigabytes of data stealthily in the background. (On mobile devices with limited data storage this last point could be a significant problem. -Ed.)
“Links shared in chats may contain private information intended only for the recipients,” researchers Talal Haj Bakry and Tommy Mysk said.
“This could be bills, contracts, medical records, or anything that may be confidential.”
“Apps that rely on servers to generate link previews may be violating the privacy of their users by sending links shared in a private chat to their servers.” Full article: https://thehackernews.com/2020/10/mobile-messaging-apps.html

Recommendations & Requests

Wes Woodwork: I’d like to recommend Wes Woodwork. He carried out a job for us that proved to be not as straightforward as it looked. Never complained, kept us informed it would take a little longer due to the problems he encountered, and came back to make a minor adjustment, always with a smile and with good humour and patience. And on top of that, the work has transformed my room. Wes advertises on FB, not sure where else. But highly recommended. Valerie Fahey, El Morche, vjfahey0 AT gmail D0t com

The Government decrees the state of alarm and wants to extend it until May 9: {Translated from seville.abc.es}
Updated: 25/10/2020 20:12h
The New Rules That Began Last Night
Pedro Sánchez has appeared at a press conference to explain the measures of the new state of alarm. It will be imposed curfew between eleven at night and six in the morning throughout the national territory, except the Canary Islands. In addition, the autonomous communities may define their entire territory or some areas. The idea of ??the Government, Sánchez explained, is to extend the state of alarm for 6 months, until May 9, 2021.
The BOE has already published the Royal Decree, so as the curfew goes into effect tonight (Sunday) from 23 pm to 6 am. It will be valid until November 9, but it may be extended for periods of 15 days, after the approval of the Congress of Deputies. Read its full content here. The main measures contained in the BOE are the following:
1. Limits the movement of people at night
As already mentioned, it limits free movement and mobility during the period between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. The Autonomous Communities may determine, within their territorial scope, that schedule and begin and end an hour earlier or later: that is, prevent mobility between 10 p.m. and 12 a.m. or between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m.
Activities allowed
It will only be possible to circulate on the roads or spaces for public use during that time slot for:
a) Acquisition of medicines, health products and other essential goods.
b) Assistance to health centers, services and establishments.
c) Assistance to veterinary care centers for urgent reasons.
d) Compliance with labor, professional, obligations business, institutional or legal .
e) Return to the place of habitual residence after carrying out some of the activities foreseen in this section.
f) Assistance and care for the elderly, minors, dependents, people with disabilities or especially vulnerable people.
g) Due to force majeure or situation of need.
h) Any other activity of a similar nature, duly accredited.
i) Refueling at gas stations or service stations, when necessary to carry out the activities set forth in the preceding paragraphs.
2. Forbidden to enter and leave the communities
In general, the entry and exit is restricted of people from the territory of each autonomous community and each city with a Statute of Autonomy except for the exceptions that we will detail below. Yes, it will be possible to circulate in transit between communities for work reasons, studies, etc., which will be indicated below.
The restriction of the entry and exit of communities does not affect the border regime. In the event that it affects a territory with a land border with a third State, the delegated competent authority will notify the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation in advance.
In addition, the delegated authorities may limit the entry and exit of people in territorial areas that are geographically inferior in nature to a region or autonomous city, with the exceptions provided below.
Exceptions
Yes, you can go from one community to another to:
a) Attend health centers, services and establishments.
b) Compliance with labor, professional, business, institutional or legal obligations.
c) Attendance at university, teaching and educational centers, including nursery schools.
d) Return to the place of habitual or family residence.
e) Assistance and care for the elderly, minors, dependents, people with disabilities or especially vulnerable people.
f) Travel to financial and insurance entities or refueling stations in neighboring territories.
g) Required or urgent actions before public, judicial or notarial bodies.
h) Renewals of permits and official documentation, as well as other administrative procedures that cannot be postponed.
i) Taking exams or official tests that cannot be postponed.
j) Due to force majeure or need.
k) Any other activity of a similar nature, duly accredited.
3. Meetings of a maximum of six people
The size of groups of people in spaces of public use, both closed and outdoors, will be conditional on not exceeding the maximum number of six people, except in the case of cohabitants and without prejudice to the exceptions established in relation to dependencies, facilities and establishments open to the public .
The same goes for meetings in private spaces. In the case of groups that include both cohabiting and non-cohabiting people, the maximum number referred to in the preceding paragraph will be six people.
4. Manifestations: yes, if distance is guaranteed
Meetings in places of public transit and demonstrations carried out in exercise of the fundamental right regulated in article 21 of the Constitution may be limited, conditioned or prohibited when the prior communication presented by the promoters does not guarantee the personal distance necessary to prevent contagions
5. Places of worship
The regional governments will be in charge of limiting the permanence of people in places of worship setting the capacity for religious meetings, celebrations and gatherings, tending to the risk of transmission that may exist.
6. Flexilization and suspension of limitations
Each regional government may, in view of the evolution of the health, epidemiological, social, economic and mobility indicators, after notifying the Ministry of Health, modulate, make flexible and suspend the application of the prohibition to enter and leave the communities, the maximum limit of group meetings and the capacity and stay in places of worship.
7. Competences
Each Administration will retain the powers granted by current legislation, as well as the management of its services and its personnel, to adopt the measures it deems necessary, without prejudice to the provisions of the Royal Decree. The coordinating body is the Interterritorial Health Council.
8. Penalty regime
Failure to comply with the provisions of the royal decree or resistance to the orders of the competent authorities will be sanctioned in accordance with the laws, in the terms established in article 10 of Organic Law 4/1981, of June 1. Andalucia prohibits meetings of more than six people both on the street and in homes: {Translated from seville.abc.es} The order has been published in an extraordinary BOJA this past Friday and will come into effect at 00:00 this Sunday.
The Junta de Andalucía orders the limitation of a maximum of six people for the development of any activity, whether of a family nature or on public roads.
The Andalusian Executive weeks ago made this recommendation that, starting this Sunday at 00:00, it will be an obligation for all territories that have restrictive measures, that is, the capitals of Seville, Jaén, Córdoba and Granada and some of their municipalities.
The publication of the BOJA extraordinary this past Friday night intends to adopt specific measures for the containment of Covid-19, both in localities where the restriction on the mobility of the population or part of it has been agreed, and in those in which have been established the measures of the BOJA of October 14, 2020.
One of the most prominent orders of this text has been the one concerning meetings of people, since they will be limited to six people, including cohabitants, unless there are more than six (I believe this allows cohabitating families of greater than 6 persons to gather at home. -Ed.). In other words, there may not be meetings of more than half a dozen people either on the street or at home.
This order will come into effect at 00:00 this Sunday, October 25.

Reference for SPW Construction: Hello fellow Digamites. Just wanted to pass on a glowing reference for Scott and his team from SPW Construction, who I contacted having seen their ad in DigameXtra. Scott’s great team have done a lovely job fitting out our basement in Torre del Mar – plastering, painting, installing wardrobes and installing a bathroom. They resolved some problems left over from previous works, fitting these in to the schedule as well as the quoted works. Very reasonable price and clear accounting of costs. very friendly, hard working and responsive. Will definitely us them on the next phase of our work.

BREAKING NEWS– Spanish Government to Declare a New State of Alarm this Sunday: Prime minister Pedro Sánchez has called ministers to an emergency cabinet meeting to approve the move after the leaders of ten regions called for a legal framework that would allow them to bring in harsher restrictions on movement in the light of the increase in cases of Covid-19.
By Saturday morning the Basque Country, Catalonia, Cantabria, Asturias, Extremadura, La Rioja, Navarra, Castilla-La Mancha and the region of Valencia, as well as the city of Melilla have all asked the prime minister to declare a state of alarm. No escaping from Wales- UK police to enforce travel ban: A police force in England says it will try to stop people from leaving Wales, which has started a 17-day lockdown to slow a surging rate of coronavirus infections.
The Gloucestershire Constabulary will patrol routes from Wales and pull over drivers they believe are making long journeys. Travelers without a good excuse will be asked to turn around. If they don’t comply, officers will inform their Welsh counterparts so they can take action because Gloucestershire police don’t have the authority to fine people traveling from Wales, the department said. Defeat on protecting family rights of Britons returning from the EU:
While British people who move to live within the EU before December 31st 2020 are protected by the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement, this doesn’t cover family reunification rights if they want to return to the UK. So if British people now living in the EU and married to an EU national want at some point to return to the UK, their EU spouse will be subject to the UK’s strict new immigration rules. Spain heads toward another state of alarm: The Basque Country, Asturias, Extremadura and Melilla have already called on the government to implement the emergency measure, which will not necessarily involve a lockdown like the one in the spring. Government sources have confirmed that the executive is considering a state of alarm and that it would be used across Spain to different degrees. The regions would have greater powers to limit mobility in a bid to curb coronavirus infections. Gilead’s Remdesivir (Veklury) Becomes First Virus Treatment to Win FDA Nod: The approval is based on a U.S. government-sponsored trial involving more than 1,000 hospitalized coronavirus patients that found that those who received the drug recovered about five days faster than those who got a placebo.
The drug hasn’t been proven to reduce deaths from Covid-19. In a World Health Organization trial, the medicine failed to reduce fatalities, according to preliminary results.
The company said in June that it will charge U.S. hospitals roughly $3,120 for most patients who need remdesivir. Full story: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-10-22/gilead-virus-therapy-remdesivir-gains-approval-from-fda

Why this could be the last time Spain turns back the clocks: Current convention has it that all of Europe changes its clocks back one hour during the night of the last Saturday in October and forward again on the last weekend of March.
The practice was introduced in the early 20th century as a way of making the most of the natural light and conserving fuel, but is considered by many to be obsolete.
The EU-wide discussion ties in with a campaign within Spain to move the clocks back an hour permanently, ending a Franco-era legacy that has been in place more than 75 years.
Spain (apart from the Canary Islands) has been running on standard Central European Time (CET) zone, since 1942, when Spanish dictator Francisco Franco supposedly turned the clocks forward in solidarity with his allies, Nazi Germany.
The change would make sense for Spain, which geographically lies further west than London, yet runs on the same time as the Serbian capital Belgrade, 2,500km (1,550 miles) to the east. Full story: https://www.thelocal.es/20201019/is-it-time-spain-turned-back-the-clock-forever

Andalucia adds 44 new dead by coronavirus and links three days above 30 per day: {Translated from https://seville.abc.es}
Andalucia has returned to add this Thursday other 44 killed by coronavirus. This is the highest figure of the second wave of the pandemic, and the second time it has been recorded that number, which last took place the 13th of October. With these figures, the community takes three days in a row above 31 people dead each day and, only this week, has added 160 people who have died, bringing the total number of fatalities from the pandemic 2.286.
In addition, according to data from the department of Health and Families this Thursday, Andalucia has added 2.954 new infections. It is the second day in which the community is situated around three thousand new cases, which leaves the balance sheet total of cases in the community since the start of the pandemic in 104.189.
In addition, point out from Health, there have been 171 admissions to hospital, 18 of them in the ICU. Although it is not the highest figure of the second wave of the pandemic -a record that was recorded yesterday-yes, that is one of the highest amounts of the last few months. Source, Spanish.

Bars closed at 10 pm in Seville, Cordoba, Jaen and Granada and the mask always in the terraces: {Translated from https://seville.abc.es}
The Board has decided to adopt more restrictive measures in Sevilla, Jaén, Córdoba and Granada due to the “worrying” rise in infections by coronaviruses. Among the measures that has been announced is the closure of bars at 22.00 hours and the limitation of the capacity to 50 percent in the hospitality establishments both in the terraces and on the interior. The measures will begin 0.00 this Sunday, once published in the Official Bulletin of the Junta de Andalucía.
Among the measures adopted is also the extension of screening and restrictions that affect Granada, Sevilla, Jaen and Cordoba. The director has informed that he has requested that the TSJA to impose the restriction on night-time mobility, a curfew from 23.00 until 6.00 in the morning in Granada city and in thirty municipalities of its metropolitan area.
The extension of the restrictions is in Granada, Jaen, Cordoba and Sevilla where the reproduction coefficient is above 1, which means that each person is able to infect more than one person. Currently in Andalusia, the rate of incidence is 301,54 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, which is below the national average. The incidence of 907 cases in the city of Granada, from 466 in Jaen, Cordoba arrives at 387 and 340 cases in Seville.
The restoration of the use of the masks will be mandatory both in bar and in the terraces, it will only be possible to not use it while you’re eating. Also, the people who make sport in the open air should keep the mask up if you are with more people. In addition, it has requested the application of the curfew in Granada and in 30 municipalities of the province. Source, Spanish.

More Andalucian towns will carry out mass screenings: The situation in Andalusia has been labelled critical by local councillors. Four of the eight provinces reported their highest number of infected since the beginning of the second wave: Seville, Granada, Córdoba and Huelva.
For this reason, the Junta de Andalucía continues with its mass screenings and has announced the new locations that will have to undergo these tests:
-Seville: Capital, Castillo de las Guardas, Utrera, Badolatosa, Estepa, Gilena, Herrera, La Roda de Andalucía, Lora de Estepa and Marinaleda
-Córdoba: Capital, Aguilar de la Frontera
-Jaén: Capital, Baeza, Sierra de Segura, Quesada, Guarromán

Spanish Politics- At The No-Confidence Debate: Spain’s PM urges opposition PP “not to fall into the abyss of the far right”. Far right Vox Party leader Santiago Abascal, and Ignacio Garriga, a Vox lawmaker for Barcelona, launched blistering attacks against a government that was variously described as “social-communist,” “criminal,” “illegitimate,” “unconstitutional,” “totalitarian,” “miserable,” “negligent,” “immoral,” “a mafia” and “wasteful,” among other epithets.
The no-confidence motion has little hope of securing congressional approval, as Vox holds just 52 seats in the 350-strong lower house of parliament and no other party has expressed open support for the initiative. How foreigners in Spain can get grants for home improvements: What kind of home improvements can I get a grant for?
-For energy efficiency reasons
-For conservation, safety and access reasons
-For urban/rural renovation or renewal reasons
In terms of energy efficiency grants, these include covering the cost of heating and air conditioning, new windows, home insulation, electrical installations and sound proofing.
For conservation, safety and access reasons, it can be understood as being grants for renovation needed to improve the standards of living for residents of a dwelling ie a lift or wheelchair ramp in a building where there are elderly residents.
For urban/rural renovation or renewal reasons, the government states that it includes financing for “rehabilitation work of residential buildings and individual dwellings, as well as works for the urbanisation of adjacent public spaces and construction of buildings and dwellings that replace others that have previously been demolished in the same area”.
This means that whoever buys a derelict building in Spain can get a grant for its renovation.
Foreign nationals can apply for a grant if they “are legally resident in Spain”.
This means that non-resident second home owners in Spain cannot apply.
What other requirements are there?
Home owners in Spain with or without a mortgage can apply, as can renters (although this should only be done if the landlord agrees).
Most property types are eligible, from detached to terraced houses and also houses in residential communities.
If you live in a building with other flats, it’s worth noting that housing communities can make joint requests for grants for blocks of flats or apartments.
For an entire building to be eligible, at least 50 percent of the properties must be first homes and not short-term holiday lets. The same applies to individual grant applications – the property must be your primary residence for at least one year before applying.
Another requirement is that the property has to have been built and finished before 1996.
Home improvements on individual properties can’t take longer than 12 months once your municipality has issued the licence.
For blocks of flat the deadline is extended to 16 months or 18 months if they’re made up of more than 40 properties.
The company or builder must supply a legal invoice for the project to be eligible for a grant.
How much money can the grant be worth?
If it’s a house, the highest grant amount is €12,000, or 40 percent of the cost. For flats or apartments, the grant limit is €8,000.
If the grant is for a blocks of flats the amount is usually determined by the number of flats but still generally can’t surpass 40 percent of the total cost.
Up to €1,000 extra can be requested for improvements to properties that are registered as being of “cultural interest”.
Some regions also offer grants of up to 25 percent of the total renovation price for those under 35, especially in municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants that are looking for young residents.
However, the grant can cover 75 percent of the cost for applicants with very low incomes (lower than 3 times the IPREM indicator) or when the project is to improve access for disabled or elderly people (65 years old and over).
How do I apply for a grant?
Each region decides the process for applying for home improvement grants, so your first port of call should be their regional website. Look for information on “convocatorias” (grant application announcements) and their deadlines.

MS Bespoke Joinery: Looking for a professional to redo the work surface of our kitchen, we immediately thought of Digamextra and came across an ad published by a gentleman named Mick Storey. He stipulated that he was a first and foremost a cabinet maker, but that no job was too small. In the end, he redid our kitchen countertop to perfection. We then thought that he might be able to build two bedside tables that we sorely needed. We gave Mick the description of what we wanted, he took the measurements and a few days later we had the most beautiful tables, which went well beyond our expectations.
We, therefore, can’t recommend Mick enough: he is friendly, discreet, talented, and to his own self-admission, a perfectionist.

Spencer Davis has died, aged 81: The multi-instrumentalist and founder of The Spencer Davis Group passed away in hospital yesterday (October 19) while being treated for pneumonia, his agent Bob Birk told the BBC.
Davis formed The Spencer Davis Group in Birmingham in 1963 with Steve Winwood (organ/vocals), Muff Winwood (bass) and Pete York (drums). The band, who originally went by the name The Rhythm & Blues Quartet, became renowned for such hits as ‘Keep On Running’ (a cover of a song written by Jackie Edwards), ‘Gimme Some Lovin” and ‘I’m A Man’.
The Spencer Davis Group were part of the “British Invasion” of the 1960s in the US, and toured with the likes of The Who and The Rolling Stones.
The Winwood brothers left the group in 1967 — Steve to form Traffic; Muff to become a successful record executive — and the band wound down in July 1969 (although they briefly reformed from 1973-74) with Davis moving to the US the following year to pursue a solo career. Spanish government considering nationwide state of alarm to implement a curfew: The Spanish government is considering introducing a nighttime curfew across the whole of the country, in a bid to bring down coronavirus infections. The executive believes, however, that it would need to do so under a state of alarm given that there is no other option that would give it the legal framework to limit a fundamental right such as that of movement in this way. Excess deaths in second wave- 11,000 deaths since July: Statistics in Spain show 11,000 excess deaths during the second wave of the coronavirus, compared with the same period last year.
Since these are deaths from all causes, the difference between the observed and the expected death count since July, using data from the National Statistics Institute (INE) based on civil registry records, could be partly explained by the summer heat.
But the Carlos III public health institute, which runs a mortality monitoring system called MoMo, has only categorized 1,959 deaths as caused by heat this year, the same number as last year.

Greater Manchester to be forced into Tier 3 lockdown with pubs to shut for 28 days: A Tier 3 lockdown will now be imposed on the region after Tory ministers walked out on talks in a row over just £5m – as mayor Andy Burnham acucsed them of “playing poker with people’s lives”. As with other Tier 3 areas, all pubs and bars will have to close for at least 28 days unless serving substantial meals. Indoor or garden gatherings between multiple households will be banned and residents will be advised against travel.
On top of usual Tier 3 rules, betting shops, casinos, bingo halls, adult gaming centres, and soft play areas must also shut in Greater Manchester. Full article: https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/breaking-greater-manchester-forced-tier-22876230

Spike in coronavirus cases in Italy has led to new restrictions: The announcement has given local mayors the power to close public areas after 9pm with restaurant opening times and group sizes also being tightened.
Bars and restaurants must close at midnight and after 6pm, only table service will be allowed, with maximum group sizes being six.
Starting times at schools will be later and more distance-learning will be encouraged, although these will mainly affect older pupils in high schools.
Conferences and local festivals have been suspended and amateur contact sports will be stopped. Gyms and swimming pools have seven days to adapt to the new protocols. Full article:

If your device is comprimised, no anti-malware apps or amount of encryption will prevent snooping or data theft: A Windows-based remote access Trojan believed to be designed by Pakistani hacker groups to infiltrate computers and steal users’ data has resurfaced after a two-year span with retooled capabilities to target Android and macOS devices. It has been an uninterupted problem in Windows.
According to cybersecurity firm Kaspersky, the malware dubbed “GravityRAT” now masquerades as legitimate Android and macOS apps to capture device data, contact lists, e-mail addresses, and call and text logs and transmit them to an attacker-controlled server. BOTTOM LINE- If you put it on the Internet, including the “Cloud” and Messaging App conversations, you should consider it public. The Takedown of Big-Tech Begins: What would you do if Fakebook and all the free social media become paid subscription services? Or if they become geo-restricted, limited to the country you’re in, or even EU only? Is it possible FB users in Spain could be blocked from seeing the UK version post Brexit? The best solution is to have your own website. Share the link with all your contacts. You can set it up so only your invited visitors can view it, where they can comment on your posts. You can even have a realtime text-chat box on your site for live conversations. Then you don’t need FakeBook, Twits, Instabore or Snoopchat. Watch some tutorial videos and build your own website on one of the many free website hosts like Webnode or Contact DoctorLaptop to discuss your options.
– U.S. says Google breakup may be needed to end violations of antitrust law: The U.S. Justice Department filed an antitrust lawsuit against Alphabet Inc’s Google on Tuesday, accusing the $1 trillion company of illegally using its market power to fend off rivals and said nothing was off the table, including a breakup of the internet search and advertising company. Eddie Van Halen’s last-ever show with Van Halen is now available with soundboard audio: Eddie Van Halen tragically died on October 6 following a long battle with throat cancer. The concert took place on October 4, 2015, and was the second of two shows Van Halen played at the Hollywood Bowl to conclude their summer tour that year. The tour was their third since reuniting with frontman David Lee Roth in 2007.

DoctorLaptop’s famous Annual Clean & TuneUp Service €60: For Windows & Mac. New “fileless” malware formats evade standard anti-virus programs, making it difficult for typical users to “dis-infect” computers themselves with free, consumer level tools.  If you rely on your computer and want it running at peak performance an annual professional servicing with advanced professional grade tools is necessary. You wouldn’t drive your car till it runs out of oil before servicing it, would you? If you did, the engine replacement will cost far more than if you had properly maintained it with an oil change once or twice a year. It’s the same with computers, you should do a quick cleanup yourself once a month, and get an annual professional service. I do the most comprehensive cleaning and tune-up possible: verify all System files and permissions, replacing any found to be corrupt, test all hardware and do hard disk sector repairs if needed, use a 5 tool malware/adware/spyware removal protocol, clean out junk files/logs/history/etc., update Windows/Mac+all drivers+programs and finally optimize your settings and registry for fastest overall performance. Job usually completed overnight. Heavily infected comps or those showing error messages need a repair, not a maintenance service. Hard disks of 1000Gb or more add €10 and may require 2 days to complete.
ALSO: Free shopping service, send me your requirements, I’ll find you the best deals!
Windows, Apple/Mac, Linux and Android all serviced. I do not service phones.
Contact: doctorlaptop AT protonmail DOT com or call 675 993 069 (no calls answered before 11am, missed calls returned asap). Please do not use the DigameXtra email for DoctorLaptop business. Always include the make, model, and version of Windows/Mac installed when emailing for support.

Ireland orders full national lockdown- Country faces SIX WEEKS of maximum ‘Level 5’ restrictions with pubs and non-essential shops closed until December 1: Cabinet ministers made the decision at a meeting at Government Buildings in Dublin this evening (Monday). A formal announcement is expected later.
Level 5 is the most stringent under the Irish system and asks citizens to ‘stay at home, except to exercise within 5 kilometres of your home.’ Public gatherings, except for small numbers at funerals and weddings, are banned and only essential shops are allowed to stay open. Construction will also be allowed, but most non-essential retail, hairdressers, barbers and salons will have to close. The public will be asked to work from home except for essential workers, and pubs, restaurants and cafes will only be able to provide takeaways and deliveries. Tourism falls into a coma on the Costa del Sol: Malaga Airport passenger numbers were down by 9.5 million in the first eight months of this year and tourist accommodation lost 3.4 million guests.
Between January and August no more than 1.8 million visitors stayed in tourist accommodation, compared with the 5.2 million in 2019. Those 1.8 million visitors checked in for 6.5 million nights, far from the 20.5 million registered in the same period of 2019, according to figures from Spain’s National Institute of Statistics (INE) quoted by the Costa del Sol tourism authority.
And to get a better idea of the size of the disaster, for hotel accommodation, the 1.4 million visitors arriving in the first eight months of 2020 is the equivalent of the total for the month of March alone last year. BREXIT: From the UK Home Office via Twitter
European nationals have been warned that the rules to enter the UK will change in autumn next year, meaning ID cards will no longer be accepted at the border.
Britain’s Home Office has sent out a reminder to nationals of EU countries as well as Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway that from October 1st 2021 national identity cards will no longer be valid to enter the UK, and will only be able to enter the UK using their passport.

Users of pirate IPTV services in the UK and Ireland are most likely being monitored by one or more major ISPs: Secret traffic analysis, provided to the High Court in a recent blocking case involving UEFA, reveals that studies were carried out in connection with Sky which determined many subscribers were accessing pirate IPTV platforms via the ISP. It appears that in this matter, Sky or others acting on its behalf, have been monitoring the traffic of Sky subscribers who accessed the servers of pirate IPTV providers.
The onus is still on consumers to take action and protect themselves by, for instance, using a VPN or other such masking method.

DoctorLaptop’s Tips #82
-Android Mobile Device User Alert- If you have one of these devices be sure to keep Bluetooth turned off in Settings when you are not using Bluetooth functions. There are 3 significant Bluetooth vulnerabilities, known since 2018, that allow a nearby hacker to gain access to, and even take control of, your device. These have only been recently patched in the newest versions of Android that use Linux kernel versions 4.19.137 and 5.7.13. You can do a websearch for your Android version and check whick Linuz Kernel your version of Android uses. As always, the best advice for all Android (and Apple) users is to keep your devices fully updated; there are new updates every week. Windows users should lag 2 to 4 weeks behind new update releases before installing them due to their long history of releasing buggy updates.
-Websites preventing you from using “Back Arrow”, to go back to the previous screen? If you do a websearch and then click to open a link, on some websites like FakeBook and YouTube, you cannot then click the Back Arrow to return to the list of search results. They lock you onto their site! This is tantamount to digital kidnapping, telling MY browser to ignore a built in, primary function! The work-around is to know where your browser’s “History” button is located, they all have one. Then next time you find yourself in this situation, prevented from backing out of a website, click the History button, then double-click the top item on the list. You will go back to the previous screen

Spain will not ask for €70 billion of its share of EU recovery fund:
“This is a great agreement: we have secured €140 billion for Spain, of which €72.7 billion are in grants,” said Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, of the Socialist Party (PSOE), after leaders clinched a landmark deal aimed at pulling the European economy out of its Covid-induced coma.
Spain and other countries would rather focus on the grant aid that does not have to be returned, and ignore the rest of the available funds. This in turn poses the risk that the European stimulus package will end up far smaller in scope than expected, leading to a less vigorous recovery than desired. Inside Madrid’s “superspreader” underground parties: When you enter these parties you are told by the doorman, ‘If the police arrive, you say you didn’t pay to come and that you brought your own drink’. Like underground raves of old, invites are distributed with phone numbers only, you call to get the location just hours before the party starts.
Club owners are flouting coronavirus restrictions by setting up nighttime bars in tourist apartments where up to 100 youngsters gather without face masks. Madrid is no longer the worst region in Europe nor is Spain the country with the most coronavirus: {Translated from https://seville.abc.es}
Spain is no longer the only focus, nor the largest, of coronavirus in the European Union. Not even the Community of Madrid is the region most affected . Not even the list of most affected territories on the continent is made up of Spanish regions, as was the case in September. The second wave of the pandemic is no longer just a problem for Spain. All of Europe is, once again, sick, without vaccines and without treatment, doomed to restrictions and under the threat of lockdowns.
In mid-September, nine of the ten regions with the highest incidence of coronavirus in the EU were Spanish. The tenth had to be sought in the Antilles, the French archipelago of Guadeloupe. The Community of Madrid was the worst in all of Spain, and in Europe, since the end of August .
In mid-October, there is only one Spanish region in the top ten in the EU, Navarra. The Community of Madrid has dropped to thirteenth place. Together with Melilla, they are the only Spanish territories still present among the top twenty with the highest number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days until October 10, latest data available from the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).
Among the twenty regions of the EU with the highest level of coronavirus are territories of Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, the Netherlands and, outside the union, the United Kingdom. Currently, the highest incidence is in the region Brussels capital , with 864 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, followed by Navarra (774).
Worst countries
Spain’s situation has stabilized in the last month, while other countries have deteriorated rapidly. Spain, with 294 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last two weeks, according to ECDC data as of October 14, currently has a lower incidence than the Czech Republic (581), Belgium (470), the Netherlands (412) and France (307 ). Outside the EU, the UK (283) has suddenly worsened and is close to overtaking Spain.
The community average, however, is well below the level of Spain, in 173 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days. Although the situation has worsened in Italy (87) and Germany (55), they still remain at the bottom of a table that has seen their numbers grow dramatically since the end of the summer. FOOD RECALL– Lidl recalls a goat cheese due to the presence of Listeria: {Translated from https://seville.abc.es}
The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition ( AESAN ) has reported the presence of the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes in the product Rulo de Cabra Cheese, made in the Netherlands and sold by the Lidl supermarket chain.
According to the German food chain in a statement, the supplier of the product has been the one who has detected the bacteria. AESAN has reported this Saturday that the only batch that has been distributed in Spain is 412, with an date of expiration 11/06/2020.
The AESAN has sent the alert to the authorities of the autonomous communities of the country with the desire that the product be withdrawn from the points of sale and food distribution channels. This agency has indicated, on the other hand, that no case of has yet been confirmed Listeriosis in our country associated with this alert .
The German supermarket chain and AESAN have recommended that consumers who have purchased this dairy product refrain from consuming it and, in turn, request the return of the cheese at Lidl stores. Remember that it is a bacteria dangerous to health, especially in the case of pregnant women , as it could cause diseases in the fetus or newborn.
The Listeriosis also carries risks for people aged 65 years and the  immunosuppressed. The threat in these cases is twofold, since the symptoms could manifest weeks after having ingested the contaminated product. The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, will meet with Pope Francis at the Vatican Apostolic Palace on Saturday 24 Oct., according to http://www.eldiario.es newspaper: It will be the first time that both leaders meet, and they will do so at a particularly delicate time in Church-State relations, with many issues on the agenda. Among them, the historical memory, the modifications to the abortion law, the euthanasia bill, the educational reform that has already begun its journey in Congress plus the classic friction points of the IBI payment and the financing of the Church.
