Revealed- Spanish ranked second-worst in EU for ability to speak English: The English Proficiency Index (EPI) from global language training company Education First (EF) ranked the Netherlands top out of 100 countries which don’t have English as a national language, based on test results taken by natives in each country. As for other EU countries rankings in the top 100 of the world Portugal ranked #12, with Spain next to last of EU members at #35 and Italy worst in the EU at #36. In Europe as a whole, those performing even worse were Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Albania, Georgia, Turkey and Azerbaijan.

Malaga Malware Update: A total of 28,936 devices with internet access are affected in Malaga by some kind of cybersecurity problem. The data from the Institute of Cybersecurity places Malaga province second in Andalucía for the number of infections on internet capable devices.
According to the latest Google report, ‘Panorama actual de la Ciberseguridad en España’, an extensive document resulting from a long investigation in which several conclusions stand out, among them, amazingly, that three out of every 10 IT managers in SME’s (small to medium enterprises) in Spain are unaware of the concept of cybersecurity!?! Sunday Eucharist Services
Almuñécar
9.30 am – Capilla de Nuestra Señora del Carmen (The Fishermen’s Chapel). This small chapel is situated towards the western end of the beach and set back near the Chinasol Hotel and seafront. There is a Eucharist every Sunday from November through to March, and there is a Eucharist service on every alternative Sunday (1st and 3rd Sundays of the month in April, May, September and October). There are no services during the hot summer months of June, July and August.
Nerja
12.00 noon – Iglesia de San Miguel, Plaza Andalucía. There is a Eucharist service at this time throughout the year. The church is within easy walking distance of the first large roundabout as you drive into town from the Malaga direction, by the bus station.

La Viñuela bike marathon: Saturday mountain bike riders will strap on their helmets in La Viñuela for the Mountain Bike Half Marathon entitled ‘El Oasis de la Axarquia’. So far, 150 cyclists have entered the event which is open to professionals and amateurs and consists of a 43 kilometre route with a total of 1,023 metres of climbing. The course will begin in the historic town centre before climbing through to the watchtower and the Buddhist centre to continue through Los Romanes all the time over looking the reservoir. Racers will depart at 10am and for anyone still wishing to enter, price for entry is €15 for members of the cycling federation and €25 for those who aren’t.

9.30 am – Capilla de Nuestra Señora del Carmen (The Fishermen’s Chapel). This small chapel is situated towards the western end of the beach and set back near the Chinasol Hotel and seafront. There is a Eucharist every Sunday from November through to March, and there is a Eucharist service on every alternative Sunday (1st and 3rd Sundays of the month in April, May, September and October). There are no services during the hot summer months of June, July and August.

12.00 noon – Iglesia de San Miguel, Plaza Andalucía. There is a Eucharist service at this time throughout the year. The church is within easy walking distance of the first large roundabout as you drive into town from the Malaga direction, by the bus station.

La Herradura Annual Underwater Photography Competition: The 2nd ‘Open de Fotografía y Vídeo submarino Bahía de La Herradura’ takes place this week, spotlighting the best of the region’s underwater photographers. The judging is Thursday thru Saturday to decide the best photographs and videos from underwater dive sites such as Punta de la Mona, the Marina del Este and La Herradura Bay.

Costa del Sol International Jazz Festival & Malaga Jazz Open: Now thru 11 Nov., Cervantes Theatre Malaga.
Acts include: Charles Lloyd, legendary jazz pianist Kenny Baron, Charles Tolliver, Ernesto Aurignac, Mexican drummer Antonio Sánchez and the final performance of the festival will be Andrea Motis.

Everis, one of the largest IT consulting companies in Spain, suffered a targeted ransomware attack on Monday, forcing the company to shut down all its computer systems until the issue gets resolved completely. The attackers asked Everis for a €750,000 ($835,923) ransom to get a decryption key to unlock their files as reported by bitcoin.es. Spain’s largest radio station SER (Sociedad Española de Radiodifusión) confirmed it had also been hit, saying it had suffered an attack “of the ransomware type” which has had a serious and widespread effect on all of all its computer systems.”

Administrative Court No. 7 of Malaga has awarded a family €51,000 after a 38 year old woman was repeatedly misdiagnosed by medical staff which would eventually lead to her death from cancer. After 2 years, finally fed up of the lack of proper diagnosis she went to a private clinic where she immediately was given an x-ray and MRI scan which revealed a large cancerous mass on her spine!
During the trial it was stated that the patient underwent seven consultations until the correct diagnosis was made, “There was an unjustified delay in the diagnosis of the disease. The action of the public health contrasts with that of a primary care doctor to whom the patient went privately.”

New Christmas lights on Calle Larios, Malaga Central: The lights, all new, are to be turned on 29 November, there will once again be three daily musical light shows, 6.30pm, 8pm and 9.30pm. The theme is a forest, decorated with suns, angels and autumn leaves. The decorations will be supported by 22 arches, and will be made up of 730,000 individual bulbs. The lights will be kept on for 40 days and the total cost will be 806,000 euros, 532,000 of which will be spent on the Calle Larios decorations. Aside from Calle Larios, 76 other city centre streets will feature decorations this festive season, including Calle Santa Lucía, Calle Nosquera and Calle Comedias, all for the first time. H&M to close its Vialia and Féliz Sáenz sites in Malaga and reopen in a combined store: Swedish clothing retailer H&M is to shut its two stores in the centre of Malaga and open a new two-floor site in the city’s revamped Centro Comercial Larios covered shopping mall.
The sites that will close are in Plaza Félix Sáenz, near the city’s main market, and at the Vialia mall, at the city’s main railway station.
The company has said that the change “is a natural development” and that staff will be relocated to other branches in Malaga province. The chain has already started liquidating stock at the two branches.

Prema Bar: I went to the Prema Bar cafe in Torre del Mar (Waterfront area Copo) for lunch. What a nice surprise! I ate the delicious lasagna, completely homemade, cook with fresh, healthy ingredients, fresh pasta rolled by hand. Very very good! Even the bruschetta was tasty and appetizing, prepared with tomatoes, garlic and basil from their vegetable garden, organic bread produced with sourdough. And finally a delicious chocolate cake, always homemade! I digested everything very well! Also in the room, there is a corner used as a shop, where you can buy organic products at 0Km and various seasonal vegetables from the garden of Prema. Peaceful environment and very friendly owners. I highly recommend specialties to lasagna lovers!
