Information about the Padron

Have you wondered about the Padron? Are you concerned that if you register, you will let yourself in for all kinds of official hassle?
Brits in Spain have published this interesting and informative article recently…

Are you on the Padrón? Do you need to confirm your registration?

The Spanish Office of National Statistics (INE) collects Padrón data annually, and the closing date for information to be submitted this year is 31 March. This data is very important not just for town halls but for everyone living in Spain, as it is used for allocating local budgets, among other administrative processes. You should register with the town hall where you live.

According to the Spanish authorities:

If you are resident in Spain, your registration on the Padrón needs to be confirmed every five years. If you are not resident (e.g. living here temporarily), but are registered on the Padrón, your Padrón registration needs to be confirmed every two years.

If your Padrón registration is due for confirmation, you can do this by signing a declaration form at your town hall. In some cases, your town hall may contact you in person (either an official from the town hall or the local police) or send you a letter asking you to confirm your registration.

If you change your address or personal details with your local town hall, your Padrón registration will be automatically confirmed.

If you don’t confirm your registration every two or five years (depending upon your residency status), then your town hall will start the process to remove you from the Padrón register. However, the town hall will attempt to inform you of this process, before you are removed.

Service Needed – Overpaid Pension Reclaim

We moved to Spain June 2015 {Velez Malaga area} and have recently discovered Digame/DigamExtra. All was fine until last June when we received a letter from a Personal Pension provider telling me I had been overpaid this pension and was never entitled to it. They are now asking for reclamation of the amount paid which we would severely struggle to pay. My wife and I are both 67 and live on UK pensions as income. As you can imagine I am looking for assistance from  a person with experience in this field living in the expat community who can help with my rights regarding this and who would be rewarded for their kind efforts. Obviously confidentiality is of paramount importance to us and initial contact would be by telephone only { 666952916 }.

Just a note to say I used the new dropping off facilities at the airport on Thursday and it was so easy. You drive into car park a girl on the barrier gets a ticket for you.

Go and park up drop your passengers off, go to Salida put ticket in and drive out, no problem.

In fact there were so many parking spots it was hard to decide where to park, Mind you it was 08.20 in the morning.

Burglaries in Lomilla Area of Competa

Recently, some rascals broke into our as well as our neighbour’s house, when we were away. They left a mess – and a large number of keys (photo), which we handed over to the helpful officers from the Torrox Guardia Civil, who came fairly quickly at the request of the Policia Local of Cómpeta, who were first on the scene.     The keys are now with the GC in Cómpeta – if anyone missing them. They stole some strange items: old electrical equipment, old bags and rucksacks (one National Geographic), the latter probably to carry away the stuff. If you came across a suspicious pile dumped somewhere, then perhaps there is something, which I would like to get back, so please contact me in that case: birgit.fastrup @ gmail.com

Recommendation – Opticians

Martin Opticas Algarrobo

I have used Martin Opticas for a number of years and they have always given very good service.

The eye test they give is also accurate as regards the type and strength of your lens.

The glasses have always been of good quality, and they never charge if you need them cleaned or adjusted at a later date.

Like all the other “High Street” opticians, such as Martins and Specsavers, the eye test is only basic, which is fine for choosing lens, however I would suggest occasionaly having a full eye test which can often detect other underlying problems with your eyes and general health.

For this type of test I would recommend Clinica Hidalgo in Velez Malaga, they will give your eyes a thorough check over and provide you with a lens prescription, which you can then take to Martins to supply glasses. It costs around 50 euros for the eye examination at Hidalgo.

Just wanted to share with you a little Gem we found whilst taking a walk down by Peñoncillo Beach (Torrox-Costa) with my husband – her name is Bianca (Clínica Casa Blanca).

It was my husband who picked up a leaflet as I’d been suffering with neck and lower back pain. I’d been seeing an Osteopath for 2 years before moving out here and hadn’t been able to get past a month before needing more treatment – so worth a try I thought!

After having 3 sessions with Bianca I felt as though a dark cloud had been lifted from my head, I felt lighter, taller and actually had a spring in my step for the first time in years.

Looking For Swathe of Poppies in the Axarquia

This may seem an odd request, but a special family occasion is coming up and it would make for some particularly lovely photos if the background was a swathe of poppies (ideally), or possibly an expanse of purple flowers or even something like oil-seed rape. It’s the expanse of bright colour that matters.

The photos can be taken any time soon, in advance of the event at the end of April.  If you see an area like this near you and can take a quick shot and send it to me (to save us chasing all over the Axarquia) we would all be extremely grateful!

After some disappointing (and expensive) experiences with local opticians we have been going to Specsavers, Fuengirola for the last three lots of glasses and have been very pleased with the service, the eye test and most of all the price. However this entails two trips to Fuengirola which is a bit of a pain so we are considering trying local again.

Donations Needed Please for TAIL

We are looking for things which will improve, indirectly, the lot of our rescued dogs !!!

The accommodation for our permanent volunteers is in some need of improvement to make their time with us more comfortable !!

The first job is to improve the kitchen area , so if you have any of the

following in a shed or garage or around your house, that is surplus to requirements and that you would like to donate , please let me know ( we can collect) .
1.  Some of floor standing kitchen units with doors and legs, a couple of wall units .
2.  Lengths of work surface , the longer the better !
3.  A gas hob with controls .
4.  Eventually we will need bricks, sand and cement .

All the work will be carried out by volunteers . Please let us know what you have before bringing it in , we may or may not need your materials and have little space for storage !! If you would like to make a financial contribution to these ongoing works that again would be much appreciated .

Monday 8^th to Friday 12^th May – AVE Train Excursion to Valencia.  Lux Mundi, Torre del Mar & Fuengirola invite you to join friends on a 5 days/4 nights excursion to the beautiful city of Valencia.  On the first day Monday, you will leave Malaga from the Maria Zambrano Station at 16:35 travelling on the AVE via Madrid arriving in Valencia at 21:05. Lost Purse

My wife has lost her two tone brown/burgundy purse with two zips.

It contained her driving licence, EHIC card and a laminated photocopy of her passport and Spanish NIE number along with some money (both euros and sterling).

Its located walking down towards the lighthouse…shortly before the set of stairs going down to the Paseo ….look to right hand side while walking and you will see a set of stairs with signs saying “The Red Lion” and “Dolce Vita”…and Sala Viva is down these stairs, so at lower level.

Go down the stairs and it is on the right hand side and the entrance is through two large doors.

What’s On – Los Romanes & Torre del Mar Royal British Legion

The Los Romanes & Torre del Mar branches meet weekly on a Tuesday 12 midday at Bar Atila, Puente Don Manuel and a Wednesday 12 midday at Bar La Vega, Torre del Mar respectively. Our friendly groups meet not only to raise funds for and support the Royal British Legion in Spain, but also meet to be with friends and have some fun. Wasp?

A strange wasp-like creature is messing about on one of the leaves of my Yucca.it seems to have created some sort of structure.

I have included a pic. Could any kind entymologist tell me what it is please?

(I suspect it is making something to lay eggs into ).

Bruno’s Story  – Pics

Bruno and his sister Leila came to the Tail Refuge as very young pups, found abandoned. When they were about 3 months they got adopted to an English lady who lived in Manilva. All went well until her house burned down.

Luckily the dogs survived. Unfortunately this lady went back to the UK and said she would send for the dogs. We kept on trying to contact her but we had no success.

Sadly this occurs too often.

The dogs have been in the refuge for about 18 months now and are about our biggest dogs but also our most obedient.

Last week we got the fantastic news that Leila was being adopted in Germany. We were delighted as its always harder to re home big dogs. The only downside is that Bruno is going to be devastated without his sister.

We are really trying to find him a home as he should not be in the refuge. He is a big boy and needs exercise. He gets walked nearly every day by our team of volunteers but a loving home is what he needs.

He is about 2 years old, lab cross and castrated.

I’m concerned about the burglaries that I hear are happening around Sayalonga Campo area.

Could someone please share more about that?

As a woman living alone it’s quite concerning to hear about these things.

If someone could provide more information that would be greatly appreciated.

In which areas are they happening, how many are they, are they violent, has anyone been harmed etc?
