MOONETTE – Organic Skincare for Mature Skin

We are a Torrox-based company specialising in the creation of formulae which help prevent premature skin ageing. We are committed to making effective products at affordable prices.
Your skin health matters to us. How you feed your skin is as important as how you feed your body. Why settle for anything less than natural and organic?
As our skin is the first layer of our defence against microbial infections, ultraviolet radiation and environmental contamination it plays a vital role in our health. As we grow older, however, our skin becomes thinner, wrinkled, and more sensitive; hence it requires the use of treatments containing specific ingredients to the care of treating mature skin.
Recognising this need we have created a range of formulae which help
-slow down ageing process by smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.
-improve facial complexion and eliminate blemishes.
At Moonette, we are passionate about health, beauty and plants. Your skin will benefit from the properties of botanic essential oils combined with a selection of nutrients for deep hydration, cell revitalization and antioxidant effect, all sourced from the finest natural ingredients with gorgeous fragrances.

Submission Chemistry or Culture Clash Attempt to Intimidate Women In Public?- Dept. of Interior works to clarify if the ‘punctures’ seek chemical submission or to intimidate women: {Translation} 5 Aug 2022
– The Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, said Friday that they are still working to determine what is behind the wave of ‘pricks’ in nightlife venues that has intensified this July, all to clarify whether these practices seek chemical submission or “intimidate” women to drive them out of public spaces.
– “It is necessary to determine whether there is a traditional chemical submission with the aim of subduing the will of a person who commits this crime, or whether there is another intention behind it, such as trying to convey a security situation as a way of intimidating a group with this sexist discourse of trying to remove women from public spaces”, he explained.
– In an interview on TVE, picked up by Europa Press, the Interior Minister said that there are a total of 60 complaints throughout Spain and that, given this increase, they are working on an individualised study to clarify whether these incidents are attributed to chemical submission.
REPORTING AND GOING TO A HEALTH CENTRE
– The minister pointed out that there is a protocol for cases of chemical submission and that this is an issue on which they have been working “for a long time”. For this specific case, he also specified that they are working in coordination with all the regional police forces and also with local police forces. Finally, he stressed the importance of reporting these criminal acts and going as soon as possible to a health care centre for analysis in the shortest possible time. ANDALUCIA

New Telephone Scam- The Police register 15 complaints of telephone fraud in Almería, Granada, Jaén and Málaga:
{Translation, summary} 05/08/2022 14:14
– The National Police has warned of a new type of telephone scam after registering 15 complaints from victims in the provinces of Almeria, Granada, Jaen and Malaga in which an alleged operator asks users for their passwords to access the digital portal of online banking to cancel a supposed intrusion when, in reality, they are seeking to obtain a financial benefit without the consent of the victims.
– The victims receive a call from a telephone number with a prefix in the province of Malaga, in which an operator alerts her clients about several attempts to access their bank accounts or ‘app’, and at the same time, they are asked for the access codes to Unicaja’s digital portal, in order to supposedly cancel this intrusion.
– The National Police have clarified that these calls are not issued from Unicaja, nor from any company collaborating with this bank, but are most likely being made through programmes designed to defraud the bank’s customers.
– Likewise, in other cases whose mechanics are similar when it comes to setting up the scam, the previous contact comes via SMS, and is framed within Unicaja’s messaging channel. All the fraudulent SMS are characterised by the fact that they include a link to a fake website that impersonates Unicaja Banco’s Digital Banking and show URLs with domains containing the word ‘unicaja, unicajabanco’.
– The police have insisted that banks will never ask their customers for their card details, personal details, or digital banking keys and passwords, by means of oral or written communications.

ENERGY CRISIS

Spain’s Government clarifies its savings plan and lowers the air conditioning limit in bars and shops to 25 degrees:
– The Minister for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Teresa Ribera, has specified that bars and restaurants can limit the use of air conditioning to “around 25 degrees”, taking into account the recommendations of labor legislation, compared to 27 degrees contemplated by the royal decree on energy saving and efficiency measures approved by the Government.
– “You cannot ask workers who are in conditions of important physical exercise not to have the conditions that labor law guarantees with respect to the maximum and minimum temperatures,” Ribera assured in statements to Onda Cero collected by Europa Press. For this reason, businesses and establishments must justify when they do not apply the temperature limit in the thermostat, a flexibility incorporated in the decree law to protect the occupational health rights of their workers. CLIMATE CHANGE

Start Of England’s River Thames Dries Up For First Time—Latest Iconic Waterway Hit By Droughts And Heat Waves:
– The head of England’s River Thames dried up Thursday for the first time ever as record heat and droughts take their toll on major rivers and bodies of water around the world. (See pic)
– The source of the Thames moved more than two miles downstream, The Guardian reported, as portions of England’s iconic river dried, following an extreme July heat wave that set record highs across Europe.
– Water levels in Italy’s Po River, meanwhile, hit a record low in the wake of the country’s worst drought in 70 years, accelerated by abnormally high temperatures, as Italy’s government declared a state of emergency in what former Prime Minister Mario Draghi called the “most serious water crisis” in seven decades.
– In the United States, scientists in Albuquerque rushed to save minnows as the northern stretch of the Rio Grande was reduced into a shallow stream.
– Droughts in the western United States have also brought Nevada’s Lake Mead and Utah’s Lake Powell to record lows, threatening to stunt hydroelectric energy production. A 22-year drought has exposed more than 700 square miles of Great Salt Lake, reducing fish and migratory bird habitat and releasing toxic dust into the air around Salt Lake City. Low water levels mean Rhine is days from being shut for cargo:
Germany’s Rhine, one of Europe’s key waterways, is just days away from being closed to commercial traffic because of very low levels caused by drought, authorities and industry have warned. Its dangerously low levels recall the drought that shut it down for around six months in 2018. Crucially, the impending crisis could lead energy companies to cut their output, one of the country’s biggest gas companies has said. Want to impress your Spanish friends?: The next time the topic of Spanish music comes up, don’t mention Camarón, Nina Pastori or Paco de Lucia. They are well known worldwide. Instead, tell them you enjoy Emilio el Moro. That is sure to bring a smile to their faces, and gain you some respect for your knowledge of lesser known Spanish legends.
– Emilio Jiménez Gallego (2 November 1923 – 12 July 1987) was born in the Spanish enclave of Melilla. He was a fan of Flamenco from childhood, and in 1939 at fifteen years of age, he performed in public for the first time, and then went on to consecutively win seven singing competitions, performing different genres, like fandangos, soleás, tientos, polos or cañas. Charming and a joker, he one day sang Flamenco in an Arabic style, and received such an ovation that he then decided to create the character of Emilio el Moro. This character gained him a huge following as he mixed music and humour in a way that endeared him to Spaniards young and old, rich and poor. The great voice, remarkable guitar skills and well timed humourous flairs combined to make him a unique legend of Spanish music.
– The personality with which he endowed his songs, even allowed him to camouflage his social and cultural criticism against the system, against the dictatorship, partially relieved of the burden with humor. Emilio “El Moro” was, in short, a brilliant and unique artist at a time when the show was himself: as an actor, as a producer, as a screenwriter, as a businessman… However, Emilio “El Moro” is today an unjustly forgotten character (the history of this country was never kind to humorists), and only the figure of a guitar, on his tombstone, reminds us of everything that was in his family vault in Monforte del Cid.

ANDALUCIA

Is “Submission Chemistry” a new threat for the party crowd & Seniors?:
{Editor’s preface to next article}
So new it is not in Google search yet, however, in the Spanish Press, they are raising the alarm. It involves a victim who is injected with a dose of a substance, usually while out clubbing, to lower their inhabitations and alter their decision making, making them vulnerable to attackers with bad intent. Financial coercion of Seniors is another scenario reported.
While plying someone with alcohol has happened since man discovered fermented grape juice, this latest trend of people being injected while out clubbing is a new twist. And so far, no specific substance has been identified in tests of alleged victims. I posted the rather long, translated article in full, as the other articles on this topic I found, in English, were lacking. This comprehensive article from malagahoy.es has the latest info, focused on our region.

Three cases of alleged chemical subjugation by needle pricks investigated in Malaga: {Translation} 04 August, 2022 16:48
– There are now three alleged cases of chemical submission by injection being investigated in Malaga. In total, the Andalusian Health Service (SAS) is studying 16 cases in the whole autonomous community. They are unconfirmed and awaiting toxicological tests. The Regional Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs has assured that for these tests, the samples are extracted in hospitals and sent to the National Institute of Toxicology, and it is the Institute of Legal Medicine which is in charge of these tests.
– The victims of these complaints went to different health centres in the capital after detecting punctures in their bodies and fearing that they had been injected with a chemical substance.
– In Andalusia, the SAS is investigating a total of 16 cases of alleged chemical subjection by injection, seven of which have occurred in Huelva, three in Malaga and Cadiz respectively, two in Almeria and one in Cordoba. It should be noted that all are under suspicion and none have been confirmed.
– The first possible case in Malaga of chemical subjection by injection that the National Police are investigating occurred on 8 July and the victim is a 22 year old French tourist. The young woman was partying in a discotheque in the capital and when she left she was with a foreign boy she had met inside. They both went to the young woman’s flat. The next morning, she woke up dizzy and noticed two inoculation points on her arms, according to what she told the officers. The alleged perpetrator has not been identified and laboratory results, which are still pending, will determine whether the girl was injected with a chemical substance. The effects of this analysis may take four to five weeks.
– Having observed this increase in the number of cases of possible chemical subjection by injection, Malaga City Council and other administrations have drawn up a protocol to prevent this type of aggression during the fair. This is similar to the one used for sexual assaults or other chemical submissions.
– The National Police will have a team from the Unit of Attention to Families and Women (UFAM) available 24 hours a day. In addition, both the Local Police and the people in charge of the stalls will be vigilant in following the protocol. Likewise, the medical services of the Cortijo de Cortes will be ready to attend to possible victims of these chemical submissions and transfer them to the Maternity Hospital to identify the injected substance and treat the victim if necessary.
– On the other hand, the Malaga nightlife employers assure that the workers will be fully informed of the protocol to be followed in case this happens in their premises. In this sense, when the victim notifies security or the person who is with them of the injection, “they will be accompanied and attended at all times until the police come to the premises”, according to Juan Rambla, president of Andalucía de Noche, told Málaga Hoy.
– This newspaper already reported, just a few weeks ago, that complaints of chemical submission in Malaga are growing and that the most affected profiles are young women and the elderly. Among the former, the crime is of a sexual nature and among the latter of an economic nature.
– According to data from the Clinico, 12 sexual assaults on women have been attended to in this hospital from January to June of this year. Five of them, between 20 and 45 years of age, involved chemical submission. In addition, during the same period they also attended to 4 other patients who had been chemically subdued in order to rob them. NERJA

Chanquete World concert in Nerja postponed for another year: {Translation}
– For this year the date of 13 August had been announced, which had provoked numerous complaints and criticisms on social networks. In fact, the abundant programming of events in these months of July and August, which also coincide on that day with fairs such as those of the capital, El Morche or Almuñécar, could also be behind the causes behind this suspension.
– In the communiqué, the organisers say that they will “soon” announce the new date and the artists who will be there. “All tickets purchased so far will, of course, be valid for the 2023 edition. The organisation also announces that as of Thursday, those who bought tickets will receive an email in the same email in which they made the purchase with the options to manage the tickets, with a period of 14 days to do so. If they do not receive it, from Friday 5th, they can write to chanquete@ayudaeventosandalucia.zendesk.com requesting the return of their tickets. MALAGA

Infoca declares Sierra de Mijas forest fire extinguished, some twenty days after it started: At the height of the blaze, which started in Mijas but swept to Alhaurín el Grande, some 2,000 homes were evacuated. It was one of the largest forest fires, so far, in Andalucía this summer and its evolution kept the municipalities of Mijas, Alhaurín de la Torre and especially Alhaurín el Grande on edge, as the flames were fueled by dry vegetation, high temperatures and the easterly wind. Munich’s Oktoberfest finally back on after pandemic pause:
– Germany’s annual Oktoberfest festival is finally on again for this fall, following a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, the head of the famous Bavarian beer festival said Thursday.
– “The Wiesn will take place,” Clemens Baumgaertner told reporters in Munich using the locals’ Bavarian colloquialism for the Oktoberfest which is referring to the big lawn, or Wiese, where the boozy celebrations are taking place. He said said the popular beer festival in the Bavarian capital will be held without any pandemic restrictions from Sept. 17 to Oct. 3 – Germany’s national day. Photo: AP/M.Schrader. Inflation cuts the income of Spaniards twice as much as that of Germans or French: The OECD warns that the rise in prices is affecting family economies, with a 1.2% drop in per capita income in the G7 countries, but 4.1% in Spain!
– What has been happening for several months is that the increase in consumer prices is “undermining” household income, details the OECD. In the average of the G7 countries, income per inhabitant fell by 1.2%. Among these economies, the impact of inflation on families in the first quarter was particularly high in France, where per capita income fell 1.9%, and in Germany, where it fell 1.7%.
– But these figures have no comparison with those of Spain, where high inflation has contributed to a large drop in per capita income of citizens, specifically 4.1%, four times more than the OECD and G7 average. The only European country that exceeds Spain is Austria, with a decrease of 5.5%. Months into war, Ukraine refugees slow to join EU workforce:
Some 6.5 million Ukrainians, have entered the EU since February, according to Frontex, the EU Border and Coast Guard Agency, streaming into neighboring countries before many moved on to more prosperous nations in the West. Around half have since returned to Ukraine. Only a relatively small number of those who stayed had entered the EU labor market by mid-June, according to the European Commission. ENERGY CRISIS

The UN calls the “excessive profits” of energy companies “immoral”:
– “It is immoral that oil and gas companies are making record profits from this energy crisis at the expense of the poorest people and communities and at enormous cost to the climate… I urge all governments to tax these excess profits and use the funds to support the most vulnerable people in these difficult times“, Mr. Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations, said this Wednesday at a conference held at the United Nations headquarters.
– For this reason, he has recommended “people around the world” to send “a clear message” to the fossil fuel industry and its financiers, warning them that “this grotesque greed is punishing the poorest and most vulnerable people, while destroying our only common home, the planet”. SPACE

Earth sets record for the shortest day: Scientists have recorded Earth’s shortest day since its rotational period began to be recorded with highly precise atomic clocks. On June 29, 2022, Earth’s spin was completed in 1.59 milliseconds under 24 hours.
Scientists have several ideas regarding what could be causing Earth to suddenly begin speeding up its rotation and shortening its days. These ideas can involve processes in the planet’s inner or outer layers, oceans, tides, or even its climate. Full article: https://www.space.com/earth-rotation-record-shortest-day

SPAIN

There’s a shortage of ice in Spain: Businesses say they can’t afford to produce and store vast quantities of ice because the electricity costs have risen so much. As a result, some supermarkets have started to limit how many bags customers can buy. Full article: https://www.surinenglish.com/malaga/ice-shortage-spain-20220803093245-nt.html

Food is more expensive in Spain than in the rest of the euro zone:
– While in Spain the price of oil increased by 37% in year-on-year terms and cereals, coffee, dairy products and eggs, and meat increased by around 16%, 11%, 16% and 10%, respectively , in the rest of the eurozone the figures are moderate. The euro area recorded year-on-year increases of 29% in oil, 11% in cereals and coffee and around 12% in dairy products, eggs and meat.
– When comparing the price increases since January 2021, when the first symptoms of the inflationary episode began to be noticed, the differences between Spain and the euro zone increase in some products. Oil has become 56% more expensive in Spain since January 2021 compared to a 34% rise in the eurozone and, when comparing the price of cereals, the increase in Spain was 17% while in the eurozone it is limited to 12%. AXARQUIA

Beach Showers Shut Off In 3 Towns: The persistent drought continues to hit the Axarquia in the middle of summer, with the reservoir of La Viñuela already below 13 per cent of its capacity, and only 20.9 cubic hectometres stored, which means that, if there is not abundant rainfall in autumn, there could be severe restrictions to supply later on in the year.
– As such, local administrations have begun to take restrictive measures on the population and the councils of Vélez-Málaga and Rincón de la Victoria began this Monday to cut the supply in the showers on the beaches, which total around 160 structures between the two coasts, with 30 kilometres. In both municipalities, only the footbaths will be left in operation.
– Meanwhile, in Algarrobo, with just 1.5 kilometres of beach, they have gone a step further and from Monday supplies to the dozen showers and footbaths have been completely cut off. Full article:

EU says Novavax COVID shot must carry heart side-effect warning: The European Medicines Agency (EMA) is recommending Novavax’s COVID-19 vaccine carry a warning of the possibility of two types of heart inflammation, an added burden for a shot that has so far failed to win wide uptake. The heart conditions – myocarditis and pericarditis – should be listed as new side effects in the product information for the vaccine, Nuvaxovid, based on a small number of reported cases, the EMA said on Wednesday. No evidence that depression is caused by chemical imbalance or low serotonin levels, finds comprehensive review:
– After decades of study, there remains no clear evidence that serotonin levels or serotonin activity are responsible for depression, according to a major review of prior research led by UCL scientists. Many people take antidepressants because they have been led to believe their depression has a biochemical cause, but this new research suggests this belief is not grounded in evidence
– The new umbrella review – an overview of existing meta-analyses and systematic reviews – published in Molecular Psychiatry, suggests that depression is not likely caused by a chemical imbalance, and calls into question what antidepressants do. Most antidepressants are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), which were originally said to work by correcting abnormally low serotonin levels. There is no accepted pharmacological mechanism by which antidepressants affect the symptoms of depression. Full article: https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2022/07/220720080145.htm

A group of scientists manages to restore cellular functions in dead pigs: Using a new technology they developed that delivers a specially designed cell-protective fluid to organs and tissues, the researchers restored blood circulation and other cellular functions in pigs a full hour after their deaths, they report in the Aug. 3 edition of the journal Nature. The findings may help extend the health of human organs during surgery and expand availability of donor organs, the authors said. The research builds upon an earlier Yale-led project that restored circulation and certain cellular functions in the brain of a dead pig with technology dubbed BrainEx. SPAIN

How, in theory, it’s now easier for foreigners to work and get residency in Spain, but experts are skeptical:
– Spain has amended its immigration laws to make it easier for non-EU citizens (UK nationals, Americans etc) to work in the country in a bid to address some of its most pressing labour shortages. Here are the changes, the reasons why they’re being introduced and more.
– There are three main changes:
1. Undocumented third-country nationals who have lived in Spain for two years or more can seek temporary residency papers.
2. Non-EU students will be able to work up to 30 hours a week while studying, and to start work in Spain at the end of their studies.
3. Non-EU nationals will be able to obtain a work visa to come to Spain more easily and take up jobs in areas facing labour shortages i.e. tourism, construction, agriculture.
– Although the new laws were published in Spain’s state bulletin (BOE) on Wednesday July 27th, the legislation is set to come into force on August 15th 2022.
– Warning: When it comes to Spanish politics, what Spain says it will do and then actually does are often two very different things.
People in Spain with non-EU qualifications are currently having to wait two, three, four or even more years for Spain’s bureaucratic labyrinth to get round to validating their qualifications, even though the legal deadline is just six months and there are huge shortages in their expert fields. New decrees have promised to address the hold-ups but in reality nothing has changed. A lawyer specialising in helping foreigners with the homologación process told The Local that “unless Spain allocates more budget to employ more competent civil servants to address the problem, nothing will change”.

Slowdown in employment and sharp rise in number of people seeking work made this July the worst in Spanish history:
– Summer is normally a positive time for the labour market, but this year there has been a noticeable slowdown in employment in Spain as a whole. The government had already warned that the figures for July were likely to be bad, but they have been even worse than expected. In fact, it was the worst July since records began, even though the labour market had remained very robust for many months despite the war in Ukraine, high prices and supply problems. And autumn, when unemployment normally rises, hasn’t even begun yet.
– Figures published by the government this Tuesday morning, 2 August, show that 7,366 jobs were lost and 3,230 more people registered as unemployed in July. More than 20.3 million workers are paying into the Social Security system, while the number of unemployed now stands at 2,883,812. RINCÓN DE LA VICTORIA

Rincón de la Victoria celebrates the Family Theatre and Puppet Festival in the Municipal Auditorium from 3 to 7 August: {Translation}
– The Family Theatre and Puppet Festival will begin on Wednesday 3 August with the adventures of ‘Penéque El Valiente’ by Producciones Infantil Miguel Pino. King Simpatías entrusts Bolo el Sabio with the custody of the royal treasure. Two sinister characters appear, Filibud and Pelosblancos, and take possession of the treasure. Peneque the Brave with the help of all the children will win and recover the lost treasure.
– On Thursday 4th August the company Ameba Teatro, winner of the I Festival de Teatro Infantil Noctiluca de Rincón de la Victoria 2021, will be on stage with ‘El Día de Ramiro’ (Ramiro’s Day). This is a family show where storytelling, puppets with objects, clown and live music combine to tell the story of this journey into a miniature world out of a big box. Ramiro is a grasshopper who is as clumsy as he is indecisive and funny. Ina decides to get out of her box and embark on a day-long journey. What adventures will he experience?
– On 5 August, it will be the turn of ‘Museum’. The history of art for children by the company La Liquida, which brings a fun and educational show for children. A wonderful journey through the history of art by the hand of the great masters Picasso, Van Gogh, Velázquez, Miguel Ángel, and the great masters Tamara de Lempika, Sofonisba Anguissola, Frida Kahlo, etc. It offers theatre with actors, objects, puppets and live manipulated projections.
– Saturday 6 August. And after being suspended due to the pandemic, Rincón de la Victoria rescues the musical ‘Hara, the spirit of the jungle’. A musical for the whole family inspired by the book of the jungle. It will take place on Saturday 6 August with tickets priced at 12 euros in advance and 15 euros at the box office. There will be two performances: 20:00 and 22:00.
– Sunday 7 August. The closing of the Festival will be performed by the company Pata Teatro, FETEN 2020 Award for Best Playwriting, with ‘Bajo del Tejado’ (Under the Roof). An exciting comedy that reminds us that the everyday, what happens to us day by day, can be really extraordinary.
– All theatrical performances will start at 22:00.

ENERGY CRISIS

Spain’s plan for energy saving & efficiency (plan de choque de ahorro y eficiencia energética) is published this Tuesday in the BOE – Businesses Have 7 Days To Comply: {Translation, summary} 2 Aug 2022 18:40
– The decree on energy saving and efficiency measures makes it compulsory for public buildings, commercial spaces and department stores, transport infrastructures (airports, train and bus stations), cultural spaces and hotels to limit the use of air conditioning to 27 degrees Celsius in summer and heating to 19 degrees Celsius in winter.
– In addition, it will be compulsory to install information panels in establishments containing data on the temperature at any given time and guidelines for recommended lifestyle habits to reduce energy consumption. This package of measures, which complements RITE, will also make it compulsory to turn off the lights in shop windows and public buildings that are unoccupied after 22.00 hours, a measure for which they will have seven days to comply.
– Decorative lighting on façades will also be switched off after 10 p.m., while the regulation of outdoor lighting will only affect buildings for public use, not ornamental lighting, such as Christmas lights.
– The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, also clarified on Tuesday morning that it is a “very limited” rule and that it includes exceptions “necessary to maintain adequate air conditioning” in hospitals, educational centers, gyms, hairdressers or restaurant kitchens.
– The regulations of the energy saving and efficiency shock plan published this Tuesday in the Official State Gazette (BOE) clarify the amount of the penalties that will be imposed on companies that do not comply with the measures within a week from this day. Specifically, shops, business centres and establishments affected by the new guidelines will face fines of between 60,000 euros and 100 million euros depending on the seriousness of the infringements. Legal Robbery – As Consumer Petrol Prices Remain At Record Highs, With Ukraine Used As An Excuse, Oil Companies Quarterly Profits Jump To 14-Year Highs:
– BP reported today an underlying replacement cost profit—its preferred metric for net profit—of $8.45 billion for the second quarter, up from $6.2 billion for the previous quarter and well above analyst estimates of $6.8 billion.
– The jump in Q2 earnings- the highest quarterly profit since 2008- was “driven by strong realized refining margins, continuing exceptional oil trading performance and higher liquids realizations,” BP said. In light of the solid results, BP announced a 10% increase in its quarterly dividend. BP also announced a further $3.5 billion share buyback, on top of the $2.5-billion share repurchase program announced with the first-quarter 2022 results and completed last month.
– BP wraps up a strong earnings season for European and U.S. supermajors, all of which reported solid- and in several cases, record- quarterly profits amid rallying oil and gas prices and surging refining margins.
– Last week, Shell reported a record quarterly profit for a second consecutive quarter, while TotalEnergies more than doubled its Q2 net income due to rallying oil and gas prices, record-high refining margins, and soaring LNG demand in Europe. U.S. supermajors ExxonMobil and Chevron both reported their highest-ever quarterly profits on Friday as oil and gas prices rallied and refining margins jumped to multi-year highs in the second quarter. SPACE

Solar storm from hole in the sun’s atmosphere will hit Earth on Wednesday: High-speed solar winds from a “hole” in the sun’s atmosphere are set to hit Earth’s magnetic field on Wednesday (Aug 3.), triggering a minor G-1 geomagnetic storm. Forecasters at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC) made the prediction after observing that “gaseous material is flowing from a southern hole in the sun’s atmosphere,” according to Spaceweather.com.
– Coronal holes are areas in the sun’s upper atmosphere where our star’s electrified gas (or plasma) is cooler and less dense. Such holes are also where the sun’s magnetic field lines, instead of looping back in on themselves, beam outward into space. This enables solar material to surge out in a torrent that travels at speeds up to 1.8 million mph (2.9 million kph).
– Scientists think the largest solar storm ever witnessed during contemporary history was the 1859 Carrington Event, which released roughly the same energy as 10 billion 1-megaton atomic bombs. After slamming into Earth, the powerful stream of solar particles fried telegraph systems all over the world and caused auroras brighter than the light of the full moon to appear as far south as the Caribbean. If a similar event were to happen today, scientists warn, it would cause trillions of dollars in damage and trigger widespread blackouts, much like the 1989 solar storm that released a billion-ton plume of gas and caused a blackout across the entire Canadian province of Quebec, NASA reported.

Calendar That Includes Local Holidays- Tutorial: {DigameXtra}
This website is in Spanish and covers all of Spain. I will provide instructions so English speakers can find the calendar for their village/town/city.
This calendar shows local holidays not on the Official Junta de Andalucia website calendar of holidays. Often these local holidays are specific to the particular town, and not are celebrated elsewhere the same day.
I will use Algarrobo in Malaga for an example.
– Visit this website: https://www.foro-ciudad.com/
– Click on your province. (Click Malaga) A list of towns will appear.
– Click on your town. (Click Algarrobo). A list of forum post titles will appear.
– Scan down the list of titles of forum posts till you see “Calendario-laboral-2022”.
– Click that post title to open the calandar.

– Bookmark it for later reference.

SPAIN

Spain will experience higher temperatures and less rainfall than usual until November: {Translation, summary}
– August begins as July ended, with intense heat in much of the country, with temperatures up to 10 degrees higher than normal depending on the area. With a view to the future, not only is August expected to follow this line of infrequent scorching weather, but also September and October will be hotter and less rainy than previous reference periods, according to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), in accordance with long-term prediction models.
– Since June, there have been several prolonged and consecutive episodes of thermometers reaching at least 40 degrees Celsius. AEMET spokesman Rubén del Campo has warned that the start of autumn will not bring an abrupt drop in temperature; over the next three months it seems that it will continue to rain less than normal and temperatures will remain warmer.
– Specifically, he points out that the quarterly forecast, according to the most feasible scenarios, points to an August-October period with a 60% probability of being warmer than normal in most of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands. In fact, there is only a 10% chance of below-average temperatures in the coming months.
– As for rainfall, he sees no clear trend in the eastern third of the peninsula, i.e. on the Mediterranean side, nor is there one for the Balearic Islands. In the rest of the Peninsula and the Canary Islands, the models do observe a 45% probability that the quarter formed by August, September and October will have less rain than normal and only a 20% probability that it will be more rainy. Supreme Court of Spain allows second-hand home buyers to claim damages directly from developers: The supreme court has recognized the right of a dozen buyers of second-hand homes to claim damages, flaws and improvements found in their homes from developers if they do not correspond to the initial offer. The judges of the civil chamber understand that, although these affected bought their homes from previous owners and not directly from the promoters, they have the right to have these companies pay for the improvements to the doors and cabinets that were of inferior quality. The Government proposes that official secrets can remain classified for more than 50 years: State secrets can be secrets forever with the current law, which was enacted in 1968. The Government approves this Monday the Draft Law on Classified Information with which it intends to replace that Francoist rule and adapt Spanish legislation to EU standards , but also NATO. The main novelty of the text is that a maximum term will be established in general for the information that the State wants to restrict to remain opaque. “The periods for declassification of documentation range from four to 50 years, and may be extended in some cases,” government sources report. ANDALUCIA

Until Friday, heat and more suffocating heat in Andalusia: {Translation}
– Andalusia will maintain high temperatures that may exceed 42 degrees in the Guadalquivir Valley from Monday until part of Thursday, and will experience a generalised decrease over the weekend, due to the arrival of a southeasterly wind.
– This has been indicated by the territorial delegate of Aemet, Juan de Dios del Pino, in which he explained that temperatures close to 42 degrees will be reached in Jaen, Cordoba and Seville, where the orange heat alert will be activated. “Almeria, Granada and Malaga will follow this line, although to a lesser extent, having yellow warnings,” he added.
– However, he pointed out that from Friday there will be “a drop in temperatures, which will be between five and six degrees, so the week will end with 35-36 degrees inland”. The Costa del Sol will escape this drop, as a “slight upturn” is estimated for Saturday and Sunday, days on which thermometric values may increase.
– Del Pino pointed out that the reason for the thermal behaviour of this period is due to the expansion of “a south-westerly wind produced only during the afternoons that will arrive after the highs have occurred”, so that “there will not be a drop in daytime temperatures for the first half of the week”.
– Along these lines, he stressed that in the second half of the week this wind “will be constant, blowing practically all day, and, although it will not be particularly strong, it will lower temperatures due to the Atlantic mass”. “Storms with little or no rainfall are also expected in the eastern sierras at the beginning of the week,” he stressed.
– With regard to the general forecast for August, Del Pino stressed that the forecast “is consistent with climate change”, so “temperatures are expected to rise and rainfall to fall”. Temperatures are expected to be one or two degrees above average and rainfall below normal, although this is not a cause for concern because August is not a particularly rainy month, with some exceptions where storms occur,” he remarked.
– Thus, the Aemet establishes a 60% probability for a scenario in which temperatures in August are above average, 30% for the case in which they may be around average, and 10% for temperatures to be below normal. “When working in the long term, several scenarios are established, and most of them point to above-average temperatures,” he concluded. MALAGA

Malaga metro and bus travel will be 30% cheaper from next month: The Junta de Andalucía has confirmed that it will be going ahead and introducing a 30% discount on Malaga metro and bus journeys from 1 September. It will be applied to the price of the city’s travel card and means that the cost of a suburban journey within Malaga will be 57 céntimos instead of 82. The regional government is implementing the discount, which is part of a recent package of measures aimed at alleviating the cost of living crisis, despite uncertainty about how much the government in Madrid will be contributing to the cost. Germany Admits On Twitter, TWICE, That Covid Vax Causing Severe Reactions in 1 Out of 5000 Doses Administered (.2 in 1000):
– The Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI), which uses the handle “@PEI-Germany” is Germany’s federal institute for vaccines and biomedical drugs.
–  I have provided a link to the source report as well as the two tweets in original and English translation. Lower tweet says: “Correction: The reporting rate for serious reactions is as follows @PEI_Germany 0.2 reports per 1,000 vaccine doses.” The figure came from a PEI safety report summarizing suspected cases of side effects and vaccination complications that were reported to PEI between Dec. 27, 2020, when Germany launched its vaccination campaign, and March 31, 2022, titled “Report on suspected cases of side effects and vaccination complications after vaccination to protect against COVID-19 (reporting period December 27, 2020 to March 31, 2022)”.

On Twitter- Russia’s Plan For The Future of Europe?: {Translation, summary}
– A map circulating on Twitter Monday, in which the whole of Europe appears divided into new states or regions, proclaims one new region as the Independent Republic of Malaga. The authorship of this map is attributed to Russia, where according to the users who are sharing it on social networks, it is trending on Telegram.
– They call it the “decolonisation of Europe” and it would be produced after Russia’s supposed victory in the Ukrainian war. In it, Spain is divided into six states: the Republic of Galicia, the Kingdom of Navarre, the Republic of Catalonia, the Republic of Castile, the Republic of Valencia, and the Independent Republic of Malaga.
– It is difficult to know the veracity of this map, and whether it really comes from some Russian plan on how to divide Europe, but it is not the first map of this type to circulate on social networks.
– In 2017, in the midst of the crisis in Catalonia with the referendum and the unilateral declaration of independence, some Spanish media echoed a sketch broadcast by Russian television stations showing a divided Spain, with problems of secessionism not only in Catalonia, but also in the Balearic Islands, Valencia, the Basque Country, Asturias, Galicia, even Andalusia and Murcia.
