– The City Council will provide a special bus service with routes between Nerja and the Cave site, operating from 12:00 to 23:30 .
– At 12:00 noon the pilgrimage will begin from the Balcón de Europa to the Nerja Cave grounds, accompanied by pipers and drummers, horses, oxen, floats and numerous pilgrims dressed in traditional costumes.
– Upon arrival at the Nerja Caves, Christian David Callejón’s dance group will welcome the procession and pay homage to Saint Isidore with traditional dances before the image of the patron saint of farmers is placed in its hermitage. The grounds will feature various areas for all attendees to enjoy, including a youth zone, a traditional zone, and an equestrian zone, as well as musical performances and a festive atmosphere throughout the day.

A clay workshop will also be taught aimed at children and developed by artisans Pilar and Sonia, responsible for the ‘Las Mil y Una Hammas’ business.

Cabrillas (Vélez-Málaga) 34th Pilgrimage in honor of the Immaculate Conception: Fri-Sun, 8-10 May
– The programme will begin on Friday 8 May with the traditional afternoon and evening of cart arrangement on the forecourt of the Cabrillas Hermitage, thus giving the starting signal for a very special weekend.
– On Saturday 9 May at 16:00 hours, a Pilgrim Mass will take place at the Hermitage, sung by the El Trapiche pilgrim choir, followed at 17:00 hours by the official start of the pilgrimage, accompanied by the Almonte drummers. During the route, floral offerings will be made at the Inmaculada Roundabout. Then at 00:00 hours, the traditional Salve to the Virgin of the Immaculate will be held at the Benamocarra enclosure, one of the most emotional moments of the weekend.
– On Sunday 10 May, the programme continues with the Regina Coeli prayer at 12:00 hours, followed by a taekwondo display at 13:00 hours, dancing by the Ana Belén academy at 13:30 hours, and a large communal paella at 14:00 hours to be shared among all attendees. At 16:00 hours, the Almonte drummers are expected to arrive at the enclosure, while at 18:00 hours the return journey to the Cabrillas Hermitage will begin, putting the finishing touch to this year’s event. Problems Getting Today’s Issue Posted: WordPress, the web hosting service of DigameXtra, is having significant problems as I write this Sunday evening on into Monday morning. It is not uncommon for them to do maintenence on Sunday nights, and this slows the site down somewhat, but it usually remains functional. Tonight I noticed more problems than a typical Sunday night. At one point the screen “blinked” and a full hour’s worth of writing was deleted, the ‘un-do’ button wouldn’t work, and my backup drafts had disappeared, so despite me having done several “save draft” clicks along the way, all that work had to be redone! Additionally, the Monday after a long holiday weekend rarely has much local news. So if a small issue was in the cards due to WordPress problems, this was a good day for it. -Ed.

Their business charters clearly outline their duty and responsibility to support informing the community on critical issues. Nerja Caves Concert Series 2026 Info Wanted:
Last year’s management fiasco caused the cancellation of the entire 2025 concert series due to an unexplainable lack of “performance insurance”. A single vendor challenged the bidding process and the entire series was cancelled, something that could have been easily resolved had the proper insurance been in place, as is the industry standard. It is inconceivable that the Town Hall and Courts allow this basic problem to be dragged out for over a year when the series is a major attraction generating millions for the community.
I see no info for the 2026 season, it should have been announced and had tix on sale already if it were happening. The announcement in the image below from their website says they are working on “future editions”.
Does anyone have any updated info? Why is one of the most prestigious concert series in Andalucia being allowed to collapse without any info being released to the public? Please send me links if you have them.

Loquat Day in Sayalonga: Sunday, 3 May
More than 3,000 kilos of loquats (níspero) will be distributed throughout the day so that everyone who comes can enjoy them. UPDATE– Investigation under way following discovery of dead body on Torrox beach:
– An investigation is under way in Torrox on the eastern Costa del Sol following the discovery of the body of a foreign national in his 70s on the shore of El Morche beach, on Saturday 25 April.
– Emergency services received reports after the body was found lying on the beach a few metres from the water. The man was alone at the time of discovery. Medical personnel, officers from the Torrox Local Police and the Guardia Civil arrived at the scene where they confirmed the man’s death.

On initial inspection, there were no obvious signs of violence, so the initial hypotheses point to death from natural causes.
