Andalusia decreases in infections, deaths and hospitalized by Covid but the incidence increases: {Translation} Updated: 21/05/2021, 18:15
-Andalusia has reduced almost all the parameters of the Covid pandemic this Friday, according to the latest data provided by the Regional Ministry of Health and Families. Thus, the community has added 1,380 coronavirus infections, half a hundred less than yesterday and, moreover, 300 less than the same day last week.
-With no curfew or limit on mobility, this drop is presumably the result of vaccination, which has been at cruising speed in Andalusia for weeks. The region has already administered more than four million doses and has 3.7 million inhabitants with at least one dose of the vaccine.
-There is also good news in hospitals where, for the third consecutive day, the number of people admitted for Covid has fallen. There are 950 on Friday, 28 fewer than yesterday but, more importantly, 643 fewer than at the peak of the fourth wave, when there were 1,593 people hospitalised with coronavirus infection. This represents a 40 per cent drop.
-In the case of deaths – on the verge of exceeding 10,000 in Andalusia – there has also been a decrease. There are seven this Friday, almost half of yesterday, when there were 13. The community has also spent almost 10 days without exceeding 20 deaths per day, something that has not happened since last summer.
*Incidence rises*
-However, there is a negative note in the data of the day’s pamdenia. Both the two-week and seven-day incidence rates have risen on Friday. It is true that they do so very slightly and that it does not represent a change in trend but, presumably, the effect of a small sawtooth of the past few days.
-Thus, the 14-day incidence rate in Andalusia on Friday was 166 cases per 100,000 inhabitants compared to 164.8 yesterday. In the case of the one-week incidence rate, it is 73.8, compared to 73 yesterday, Thursday.

Travelers from the UK will be able to freely enter Spain from Monday with no restrictions and no coronavirus test: The Spanish government has opted to add the United Kingdom and Japan to the list of countries whose residents will not be subject to coronavirus restrictions when traveling to Spain, including the requirement to present a negative PCR test on arrival. That’s according to an order that was published today in the Official State Gazette (BOE). Malaga reports the lowest number of Covid-19 intensive care patients so far this year: The coronavirus pandemic in Malaga province continues in a plateau phase. The virus continues to circulate and infect, but at a slower pace. There are oscillations with days that bring small increases in the number of positive cases followed by others with slight decreases.
This Thursday, 20 May, the Junta de Andalucía has registered 200 coronavirus infections, two deaths and 344 people recovered from the disease in Malaga province. The 200 confirmed infections represent 41 more than the 159 on Wednesday. Full article: http://www.surinenglish.com/local/202105/20/malaga-reports-lowest-number-20210520175915.html

New blood group link to COVID risk: An important gene involved in determining a person’s blood group is closely linked to the risk of disease from COVID-19 infection, according to a new analysis.
Variants in the ABO gene seem to “significantly” increase the risk of developing COVID-19, a conference of the American Thoracic Society heard last week (14th May).
Canadian researchers used data from three different sources and 5,000 individuals to search for genes associated with the disease. Full article: https://b-s-h.org.uk/about-us/news/new-blood-group-link-to-covid-risk/

Paypal Changes?: Thanks for the advice re Whatsapp. It’s not always easy to keep track of changing t’s & c’s. Paypal are up to something as well which readers might be interested in and you might be able to advise on. There will be an annual fee for inactive accounts. Many people will be able to close their account if they don’t use it but I have a new telephone number since I joined and now cannot bypass their two step verification. Everything finishes up with them wanting to send a code or make a call to the old number. Any ideas? I’m sure I can’t be the only person stuck.
All the best, Pete Thompson

The improvement of the fourth wave of Covid slows down with a rebound in infections in Andalusia: {Translation} Updated: 20/05/2021 18:17
-The 1,412 new cases of coronavirus infection recorded on Thursday in Andalusia are 268 more than the previous day and 106 more than last week. They mark a new setback in the slow improvement towards which the fourth wave of Covid was evolving.
-The day adds 13 deaths to the statistic of almost ten thousand deaths (9,978) due to the pandemic in Andalusia. This figure is also higher than the 9 deaths recorded a week ago.
-The cumulative incidence rate at 14 days stands at 165 cases (164.8) per hundred thousand inhabitants. Granada is the highest by province, with 246 cases, which allows it to move from extreme to high risk alert. The worst evolution is observed in Huelva, with 234 accumulated cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days, as the one-week rate has shot up, with 123 cases.
-The lowest 14-day accumulated rate is in Cadiz, with 93 cases, although the province of Almeria is the best performer, with a one-week rate of 36 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
-The positive statistic of the day’s statistics is the number of hospitalised patients, which is down by 47 compared to Wednesday. As was the case last Sunday, Andalusia has dropped below a thousand hospitalised patients. There are 978 in total, of which 258 are in ICU, nine less than the day before. EU citizens can soon travel freely within bloc with COVID-19 passes: European Union legislators and member countries found a compromise Thursday for launching COVID-19 certificates before the height of the summer holiday season, a move aimed at boosting travel and tourism following the restrictions of the coronavirus pandemic.
The various players managed to reconcile their differences during another round of discussions, paving the way for the trans-border travel passes to be introduced. Officials said the system should be up and running by July 1.
The European Commission said the certificates will be issued in digital format and designed to be shown either on smartphones or paper. It guaranteed that “a very high level of data protection will be ensured.” Full article: https://globalnews.ca/news/7881474/eu-covid-19-passes-travel/

Andalucía once again allows the use of dance floors in discos: {Translation}
-Days before the end of the state of alarm, Juanma Moreno appeared before the Andalusian people to announce the Covid measures that were to be in force in Andalusia from 9 May. He explained them in a generic way, and always taking into account the fact that they were going to be relaxed, but it was later revealed that there was going to be a de-escalation and that everything would depend on the level of alert in each health district. When they reached the lowest level, level 1, one of the main changes would be in the nightclubs, places that could reopen their dance floors.
-And, after more than a year closed, this moment has already arrived for quite a few health districts in Andalusia. From Thursday 20 May, in all those places where the level 1 alert is already in force, the dance floors of discotheques are once again permitted.
-Specifically, these establishments, normally nightlife establishments, will be able to stay open until 02.00, a timetable that Juanma Moreno has defended again today, despite the fact that the Government is urging the communities to close at 01.00 at the latest. According to the president of the Junta, it is better to have people in places that comply with the rules and are supervised than to close everything, which has been shown to lead to more boozing.
-Likewise, discotheques in Andalusian venues that are on level 1 alert will not be allowed to exceed 75% of the maximum capacity for consumption inside the premises. The outdoor terraces of these establishments may occupy the total number of tables permitted in the immediately preceding year on the basis of the corresponding municipal licence or of what is authorised for this year, in the event that the licence is granted for the first time.
-As for the maximum number of people at the tables, there will be a limit of 8 people indoors and 10 people outdoors. And service and consumption at the bar will be permitted with the established distancing.
-Finally, small-format indoor and outdoor performances will be permitted, with a distance of at least 3 metres from the public, and outdoor dancing will be allowed, with the use of masks, when this is provided for in the licence.
-It should be stressed that in all areas of the community where the alert level is higher than 1, the dance floors of nightclubs will remain closed. At least until Wednesday 26 May, when the territorial committees will meet again to set new alert levels from Thursday 27 May for a period of one week.  “Spain 2050” plan- Sánchez wants to raise taxes on fuel, vehicle usage, inheritance and donation, alcohol and tobacco, eliminate modules and cut the black economy by half:
-The fiscal menu for the mid-point of the century that the Government includes in its “Spain 2050” plan includes a long myriad of objectives and tax increases with the goal of converging with the EU in tax revenues. The Executive wants tax collection to increase by eight points in thirty years: if in 2019 it was 35% of GDP, 7.2 points below the European average, it will climb to 37% in 2030, to 40% in 2040 and 43% in 2050.
-Along with this, the Executive’s plan is for the black economy, now at 20% of GDP according to the document, to be 15% in 2030, 12% in 2040 and 10% in 2050. To do this, it will reinforce the staff of the Tax Agency and exploit the possibilities of ‘Big Data’ (Yikes!?!). Recommendations & Requests

WhatsApp Changes to Group Settings: This May 2021, it has been reported that WhatsApp changed its group settings to automatically include ‘everyone’. This means that anyone who has your number can add you to a group, including spammers. If you do not have the number saved in your contacts, you can still remove yourself from the group and block the number who added you.
While these changes have only recently been noted by the general public, WhatsApp announced they were rolling out changes to their group settings back in 2019.
The Fix: It’s actually very simple to change your WhatsApp group settings from everyone to only your contacts.
Step 1: Go to WhatsApp
Step 2: Go into Settings –> Accounts –> Privacy –> Groups
Step 3: Change from Everyone to My Contacts
Using the above method will mean that only those numbers saved to your contacts list will be able to add you to any groups. If someone who doesn’t have your number tries to add you to a group, they will be prompted by the app to send a private invite through individual chat. This will give the user the choice of joining the new group. You’ll have three days to accept the invite before it expires.

From Torrox Town Hall- At midnight Thursday we entered Covid Restriction Level 1!: Malaga is the only province in all of Andalusia to do so.
These are the new capacity rules that will take effect this Thursday, May 20. (In Spanish, see next article for rules in English) Source: https://www.facebook.com/AytoTorrox/posts/1723124674528280

Covid control measures eased as all of Malaga province moves to the lowest health alert level: Malaga is the only province in Andalucía that is completely at level 1 and, consequently, the coronavirus restrictions are further eased, including larger numbers allowed at tables in bars and restaurants. Until last week, Malaga was at level 2 – medium risk – and will now drop one more step to a low-risk level, a sign of the good evolution of the pandemic in the province. Falling infection rate puts Spain in medium-risk Covid scenario: Spain’s fourth coronavirus wave has had a much smaller impact on public health than earlier surges of the pandemic, new figures show. There are improved numbers in infections, deaths and hospitalization rates, partly thanks to the rising pace of vaccination.
-On Wednesday, the cumulative 14-day incidence rate was 147.54 cases per 100,000 people, marking the first time since March 30 that this indicator has dropped below 150, and putting Spain in the medium-risk scenario according to the Health Ministry’s traffic-light system.
-Although a few territories are still at an extreme-risk level of more than 250 cases per 100,000, such as the Basque Country (279.76) and the exclave city of Melilla in North Africa (261.84), the national average suggests that the vaccination drive and the growing number of people who have recovered from Covid-19 are containing virus transmission. Covid Survivor Plasma for Malaga Patients: So far around 180 patients have been treated in Malaga with the Covid survivor plasma and although the therapy is still considered to be experimental results are very positive. Andalusians 55 years old can make an appointment for the Covid vaccine from this Wednesday: {Translation, first 4 paragraphs only} Updated: 19/05/2021, 14:03
-Andalusians aged 55 years old, born in 1966, can request an appointment for vaccination against Covid-19 from this Wednesday, May 19.
-Health has expanded the age range for the proactive citation, thus, people born between 1962 and 1966 (from 55 to 59 years) as well as those born in 1953 and earlier (68 years or older) can now request an appointment and this option will be opened to other age groups in the coming days.
-People aged 60 to 67 years (born between 1961 and 1952) will be summoned for the administration of the vaccine by phone call or SMS, since this age group does not have appointment requests enabled.
-Immunization of this age group (55 years and older) will be done primarily with messenger RNA vaccines, with Pfizer and Moderna.
-The appointment request for coronavirus vaccination is available for all persons included in the aforementioned age groups who are registered in the database of users of the Andalusian Public Health System, regardless of whether they are publicly or privately insured.
-How to make an appointment for the vaccine-
The appointment for the first dose can be requested through the website of the Andalusian Health Service (SAS) through ClicSalud+, on the Salud Responde mobile app, on the Salud Responde telephone number (955 545 060) and at the health center. EU agrees to open doors to vaccinated foreigners: European Union countries agreed on Wednesday to ease COVID-19 travel restrictions on non-EU visitors ahead of the summer tourist season, a move that could open the bloc’s door to all Britons and to vaccinated Americans.
Ambassadors from the 27 EU countries approved a European Commission proposal from May 3 to loosen the criteria to determine “safe” countries and to let in fully vaccinated tourists from elsewhere, EU sources said.

10,000+ EU citizens in UK to lose legal status next month: Tens of thousands of EU citizens in the UK could lose their legal status next month because of an “arbitrary” deadline that will leave vulnerable people in an “intolerable situation”, MPs and peers have warned.
There is just over a month to go before the government’s deadline for the EU settlement scheme (EUSS) – which guarantees post-Brexit residency – closes on 30 June.

The Price Of Butane Gas Bottles Rises Again Throughout Spain, While Benefits Go Unclaimed: The Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) has heavily criticised this last rise in the price of the butane cylinder, which now stands at €14.64 euros, an increase of two and a half euros since November 2020′.
The OCU recommends that families check if they can claim the electricity social bonus since it includes a thermal aid of up to 124 euros per year- regardless of the energy source used.
The organisation estimates that around 1.2 million households in Spain have not claimed the benefit even though they meet the requirements to receive it, “generally because they have not been correctly informed of its existence,” a spokesman said. Bitcoin plunges 30% to $30,000 at one point in wild session, recovers somewhat to $38,000: The digital currency hit as low as $30,001.51 as the selling intensified Wednesday before paring some of those losses. The cryptocurrency hasn’t traded at those levels since late January.
Bitcoin rebounded as the day went on, was down 12% to about $38,205.49 shortly after 3 p.m. ET. At its intraday low, the cryptocurrency’s loss for the past week was more than 40%.
Other cryptocurrencies also plunged on Wednesday. Ether, the digital currency that powers the Ethereum blockchain, was down more than 22% at $2,620.97, according to Coin Metrics. Dogecoin, a cryptocurrency that started as a joke and has been talked up by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, fell 25% to less than 36 cents. Both had substantially larger losses earlier in the session.
Additionally, cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase was temporarily down for some users as the coins plunged on Monday morning. Full article: https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/bitcoin-plunges-30-to-30000-at-one-point-in-wild-session-recovers-somewhat-to-40000/ar-BB1gTaK5

Glastonbury Festival is expected to return in September as ‘Glasto Lite’: The pared-back two-day concert will include the Pyramid Stage and 40,000 fans but with no camping facilities for attendees.
Emily and Michael Eavis have now been granted permission to hold a two-day concert on September 17 and 18 after applying to Mendip District Council.
The licence allows for the Pyramid stage to be used on a maximum of ‘two consecutive nights’, with live music permitted between 4pm and 11pm.
However, the one-off event will not have provisions for on-site camping for the 40,000 fans and 10,000 staff who could be in attendance. Organisers say festival-goers will instead use hotels, B&Bs and nearby campsites, but local residents have expressed concerns over high numbers of visitors to the area. Photo:AFP/Getty. Halting Erosion using Vetiver
From Vetiver Spain in Sayalonga
Our Nursery is open by appointment depending on the current travel restrictions. Please email or call first. We have Moringa seedlings, Organic Moringa powder and Comfrey plants. We also have some local trees and some exotic trees from Africa.
Vetiver is a rapid growing and non-invasive sterile clump grass with a height of 1-2 metres and a root system of 3-4 metres in depth. We have been providing Vetiver throughout the EU for almost 10 years now. We are located in Sayalonga where we can plant year round but our best results by far start in February. The reason is that Vetiver is indigenous to India and Vetiver loves the heat of the summer. Use Vetiver cuttings as mulch around all of your fruit trees. Decomposing Vetiver improves soil quality, keeps the weeds down and the insects away all while helping to maintain soil moisture.
Vetiver is a nutritious and replenishable animal fodder. Horses and pigs love it. We use it in our chicken pens replacing hay because it stops mites.
In the 2 photos below you will see land prepared for Vetiver and the results 2 years later.
We also use Vetiver along driveways and sidewalks. It also makes a great and inexpensive ornamental hedge.
Here is a link to a short video showing the results.
https://youtu.be/rjTmb_LL2uo
We suggest planting now, as this is the BEST time of the year to plant.
To see more images of Vetiver go to this link.

Electricity tariff changes: I owned an Energy Advisory Consultancy in the UK so I understand exactly what is being being implemented and how both the Government and Electric companies are doing the public a disservice with the lack of accurate details.
The euroweekly article is no longer accurate, the data that Valverde used back in Feb/ Mar has already changed several times, even the Consumers Organisation (OCU.org) offered a comparison which is now just nonsense.
The problem is that even though we are just 14 days away from the official implementation there are no officially published tariffs and Endesa has further muddied the waters by unofficially announcing a drop in the PUNTA tariff to 17.3 cents/Kw which is much lower than everyone elses 22.3 cents/Kw they have not however qualified for how long this tariff will remain in effect and the other 2 tariffs for levels LLANO and VALLE are now more expensive than the other companies. Well done Endesa, you have done it again, they are experts at sleight of hand much like their, for e.g. Tempo Happy 50 get 50 hrs FREE electricity just don’t look at the price you are paying for Potencia and Kws used. The number of my Spanish neighbours who got taken in by that one was amazing so far I have dealt with 73 households and I thought I had retired.
Sorry, got on my box again. Thanks for your time

Andalusia falls below a thousand daily Covid infections: {Translation} Updated: 18/05/2021, 13:52
-With 938 new infections in the last 24 hours, Covid’s statistics in Andalusia return to records from the end of March, below a thousand positive cases per day. This is 123 fewer cases than those recorded on the same day last week and 559 fewer than those reported this Monday.
-This respite is not as strong in the mortality data. After Monday’s good record, with only two deaths, Andalusia has 17 deaths this Tuesday, four in Granada and Seville, three in Cadiz, two in Malaga and Jaen and one each in Almeria and Huelva. The total number of deaths directly attributable to the pandemic since March 2020 is close to ten thousand people.
-The 14-day incidence rate has fallen by one point to 169 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. This drop is possible thanks to the fall in this indicator in the provinces of Granada, Huelva and Malaga, as in the rest there are slight increases.
-The cumulative 7-day incidence rate fell by three points. Almeria marks the minimum, with 37 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants and Granada the maximum with 113 cases.
*Hospitalised patients*
-In terms of care pressure, the number of hospital admissions has increased with 37 more than those recorded on Monday. There are 1,053 hospitalised Convid patients, of which 276 are in the ICU, three less than the day before.
*Incidence in municipalities*
-24 hours before the territorial committees review the alert levels by municipalities, Castro del Río, in Cordoba, again exceeds the rate of 1,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days set by the Board as a criterion for decreeing perimeter closure and suspension of non-essential activity with judicial endorsement after the end of the state of alarm. Two towns with more than 5,000 inhabitants are in the same situation: La Campana (Seville) and Montefrío (Granada). Another 11 municipalities of less than 5,000 inhabitants are in the same epidemiological incidence rate.
*Vaccination plan*
-Meanwhile, the vaccination process continues. As announced by the Regional Ministry of Health, this week it will open for those born in 1966, although the application is not operational at the moment for this age group, according to sources from the Salud Responde health care service, and does not appear on the Click Salud web application. Use of masks outdoors in Spain could be relaxed in the coming days, health official announces: As the country’s coronavirus data improves thanks to the vaccination drive, the Spanish Health Ministry is considering reducing some of the Covid-19 restrictions that are currently in place. That’s according to Fernando Simón, the director of the Health Ministry’s Coordination Center for Health Alerts (CCAES), who held a press conference on Monday evening to present the latest report on the epidemic. The government’s chief epidemiologist announced that “it is very possible” that the obligatory use of masks outdoors will be revised “in just a few days.” Full article: https://english.elpais.com/society/2021-05-18/use-of-masks-outdoors-in-spain-could-be-relaxed-in-the-coming-days-health-official-announces.html

Janssen delivers only 410,000 of the promised 5.5million second-quarter doses of their vaccine to Spain: The single-dose Janssen vaccine had been hoped to give the coronavirus vaccination campaign in Spain and Europe a big boost and accelerate the speed so that herd immunity would be reached more quickly, especially after the early delivery delays and issues with the AstraZeneca formula.
But the reality is turning into a fiasco.
Spain’s Ministry of Health officials have confirmed that the North American giant Johnson & Johnson, has once again told the EU authorities that this week it will not meet its planned delivery schedule again and that only with luck it will it supply half of the promised doses. Full article:

6,000 migrants swim across to Spain’s Ceuta in record crossing- What happens to the thousands of undocumented migrants after they arrive in Spain?:
-Tuesday’s newspapers in Spain have been dominated by the arrival of 6,000 undocumented migrants who crossed from Morocco over to the Spanish territory of Ceuta on Monday and Tuesday, as hundreds more tried to reach Spain’s north African enclave. They reached Ceuta by swimming or by walking at low tide from beaches a few kilometres to the south, some using inflatable swimming rings and rubber dinghies.
-When immigrants arrive in Spain en situación irregular (in an irregular situation, as Spanish legalese refers to migrants without the right visas or permits), the law establishes that there is a maximum period of 72 hours to carry out the police review of the migrant’s case. The 72-hour limit mentioned earlier is important because that is the limit for them to be held under police custody and can leave unless they’ve committed a documented felony. Photo:AFP

70 European and South American Banks Under Attack By Bizarro Banking Malware- Rouge Banking Apps Infect User Devices: A financially motivated cybercrime gang has unleashed a previously undocumented banking trojan, which can steal credentials from customers of 70 banks located in various European and South American countries.
“When Bizarro starts in an infected device, it first kills all the browser processes to terminate any existing sessions with online banking websites,” the researchers said. “When a user restarts the browsers, they will be forced to re-enter the bank account credentials, which will be captured by the malware. Another step Bizarro takes in order to get as many credentials as possible is to disable autocomplete in a browser.” Full article: https://thehackernews.com/2021/05/70-european-and-south-american-banks.html

El Corte Inglés Mijas to become a brand outlet centre: El Corte Inglés in Mijas is to be turned into a discount outlet centre similar to those the retail giant already runs in the Malaga Nostrum retail park and Fuengirola in the summer.
According to information obtained by SUR, the company plans to refurbish the ground floor and keep open the semi-basement, which is where Hipercor is currently located.

The Ikos chain opens the first all-inclusive five-star hotel in Spain in Estepona: {Translation}
-The Greek chain Ikos has opened Spain’s first all-inclusive five-star hotel in Estepona, Malaga. The Ikos Andalusia resort was due to open last year but has been delayed until this spring because of the coronavirus, which has forced strict security measures to be imposed when welcoming its first guests.
-Guests will be required to take free antigen tests on arrival to gain access to the facilities and those travelling outside Spain will be provided with the necessary tests on their return, albeit at an additional cost.
-The chain has invested 180 million euros in what is the brand’s first hotel in Spain. Yesterday, Monday, the first tourists began to arrive to stay in one of the 411 rooms and suites distributed in the seven buildings of the complex.
-It has 4,000 square metres of green areas and swimming pools and will operate under the ‘Infinite Lifestyle’ concept, which includes – among other services – vehicles available to guests for sightseeing, 300 selected international wines, waiter service on the beach and 24-hour waiter service in the rooms, as well as a professional nursery with a programme of activities for children.
-The most demanding guests will also have access to the Deluxe Collection line of services, which includes privileges such as the enjoyment of a private swimming pool.
-The gastronomic offer has been designed by Michelin-starred chefs David Ibarboure and Ettore Botrini both in the Mediterranean buffet and in its six à la carte restaurants, which include Italian, Greek and French cuisine. Ikos Andalusia will also be the first establishment in the chain to include a restaurant dedicated to local Spanish cuisine: Oliva.
-According to the company’s estimates, the new resort could generate up to 635 jobs in the area. It is the fifth resort of the chain, which already has Ikos Dassia and Ikos Aria on the Greek islands of Corfu and Kos, and Ikos Oceania and Olivia, located on the peninsula of Chalkidiki, also in Greece. The scams linked to HMRC, HSBC, Royal Mail, and Tesco you urgently need to be aware of: Scams have soared over the past year, with online shopping the most common type, according to Action Fraud, the UK’s national reporting centre for fraud and cybercrime. There has also been an increase in romance scams, after many turned to online dating.
Many scams direct people to genuine-looking websites or provide numbers for people to call. If you are unsure a correspondence is genuine, locate contact details for the company, organisation or government body via their official website listed in your search engine and make enquiries direct. Often, organisations will have details of common scams on their websites, to help people identify if they are likely being tricked. They are followed by Granada (from 14.5% to 18.4%), Córdoba (from 24.1% to 26.7%), Ávila (from 44.6% to 47.2%) and Málaga (from 8, 4% to 10.7%).

The one notable feature of this action is that the Government and the Electric companies have done the best they can NOT to inform the public!! We only became aware of this change when we saw an article on LaSexta Noticias on the tv a few weeks ago, we also noticed that the readout on our electric meter had changed from a single readout to 3 readouts that changed which one was active, throughout the day. We did some research and found that all the existing tariffs were to be replaced by a single tariff called “2.0 TD” . For some house holds the effects will likely be confusing but economically minor, for others they could be more expensive.
If anyone can provide a link to the correct info, please send it to me. Dee / Comares, dkamper50@hotmail.com
(You are right about the lack of media coverage, not much about this in a few quick searches just now. However, this was announced 6 weeks ago, in posts on the various Town Hall Facebook pages and Twitter. It was also explained here, in English https://www.euroweeklynews.com/2021/04/06/spain-to-introduce-new-electricity-tariff-charges-in-june/ -Ed.)

Greek House- Recommendation: We had the pleasure, on Saturday night, of visiting the “Greek House” restaurant in Torrox Costa. It was our first visit. We’ve passed it many times not realising what we were missing!
The welcome & service we received was outstanding. Michaela (excuse the spelling) guided us through the Greek menu and produced a wonderful meal.
We shall,of course, return.

Covid in Andalusia: infections rise, mortality decreases: {Translation} Updated: 17/05/2021, 18:08
-Andalusia recorded a small rise in new cases of coronavirus infection on Monday, with 1,497 positive cases in the last 48 hours, 143 more than the number of cases reported in the health statistics for the same day last week.
-During the weekend only two deaths from Covid have been recorded in Andalusia, the best mortality rate since 22 March in the region, where a total of 9,932 people have lost their lives to Covid since the start of the pandemic.
-The 14-day incidence rate stands on Monday at 170 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants. With respect to last Friday’s incidence data, the 14-day rate has dropped significantly in Almeria, Cordoba and Granada, which has the highest rate in the community with 289 cases.
The rate rises in Huelva and falls in Almeria
-The rate rises in Malaga, Cadiz and Seville, but especially in Huelva, which in 48 hours increased its 14-day rate by 18 points to 219 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The figure is worrying because it is corroborated by a 14-point increase in the same period in the 7-day incidence rate, which, with 120 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, is more than double the 14-day rate, a symptom of a worsening situation in this province.
-At the other end of the region, Almeria shows the opposite trend, with falls of 14 and 15 points in its incidence rates over the weekend. It is the province with the best evolution and the lowest 7-day rate, with 33 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants.
-Like every Monday, the number of people hospitalised by Covid in Andalusia has increased. There are a total of 1,016 patients admitted, 40 more than on Sunday, of which 279 are treated in ICU, 7 more than the day before.
-As for the evolution of the vaccination plan, 36.6 percent of Andalusians over the age of 16 have been vaccinated with at least one dose and 17.9 percent, or 1,264,672 people, have already received the full course. Andalusia advances in vaccination and will reach people under 55 this week: {Translation} Updated: 05/17/2021, 20:26
-Andalusia continues to advance the vaccination process at a good pace and this week it will reach those under 55, that is, those born in 1966 and younger. Meanwhile, the vaccination of people between 60 and 69 and those between 55 and 59 years of age continues to be completed.
-In parallel, this week also begins to vaccinate homeless people, in settlements and in therapeutic communities with the Janssen vaccine; meanwhile, it continues to vaccinate the essential groups yet to receive a first dose, which are being inoculated with messenger RNA preparations. It is about the 71,000 people from the security forces, teachers and other workers of groups 3 and 6 pending (firefighters, civil protection, health not considered first line, etc …) after suspending vaccination with AstraZeneca to children under 60 years of age.
*Health Responds*
-For proactive appointments by age group (now open to those over 55 up to 60 and those over 68) you can use the ClicSalud+ website (http://lajunta.es/341ek), the mobile application and the Salud Responde telephone number (955 54 50 60), although the SAS reminds you not to use these channels if you do not belong to this age group to avoid saturation in the system. In fact, many of these applications are often blocked and when the appointment system tracks your health centre, it tells you that the agenda is closed.
-As for the appointment for the administration of the second dose, it cannot be requested through these channels and will be provided in most cases at the time of vaccination or will be communicated later by your health centre.
-This week, Andalusia receives 387,580 doses: 303,030 from Pfizer, 55,000 from Moderna and 29,550 from Janssen. Source, Spanish: https://sevilla.abc.es/andalucia/sevi-andalucia-avanza-vacunacion-y-llegara-esta-semana-menores-55-anos-202105171803_noticia.html

Less than 1,000 hospitalised in Andalusia due to Covid: {Translation} Updated: 16/05/2021, 18:01
-The Regional Ministry of Health and Families reports that 976 patients confirmed with Covid-19 are currently admitted to Andalusian hospitals, of which 272 are in ICU (Intensive Care Units). That is 64 fewer patients admitted with this pathology in the last day and 4 fewer in ICU, although deaths, which are not being reported today, cannot be excluded from this calculation.
-The vaccination campaign continues at a good pace and 15% of the population in Andalusia has already received the full dose, almost five points more than just a week ago. Specifically, 1,263,403 citizens are now fully immunised against the coronavirus in the region.
-Health also reports that 17.88% of Andalusians over the age of 16 are already vaccinated with the necessary doses. Another significant fact is that 2,581,693 have already received at least one injection.
-As for the Covid provincial hospital map, the Junta details that in Almeria there are 60 people hospitalised, of which 26 are in ICU); in Cadiz there are 77 and 25, respectively; in Cordoba (88 and 36), in Granada (223 and 66); in Huelva (52 and 8); in Jaen (105 and 16); in Malaga (115 and 20); and in Seville 256 people remain hospitalised with Covid (a quarter of all hospitalised Andalusians), of which 75 are in ICU).
*Municipalities without Covid*
-On the other hand, Andalusia has registered a total of 273 municipalities with no confirmed cases of Covid-19 coronavirus in the last 14 days, which is 28 more than a week ago, on Sunday 16 May, the first week without a state of alert in force.
-According to the latest update of Covid incidence data by municipalities in Andalusia from the Regional Ministry of Health, consulted by Europa Press, Granada is the Andalusian province with the most localities without confirmed Covid cases in the last two weeks, with 66, followed by Almeria, with 59; Malaga with 46; Huelva with 33; Jaen with 29; Cordoba with 23; Cadiz with nine and Seville with eight municipalities.
-All provinces except Huelva and Cordoba, with two and one less respectively, have increased the number of municipalities without Covid cases by 14 days in the last week, led by Jaen, with eleven, followed by Granada with ten, Malaga and Almeria with four and Cordoba and Cadiz with one each.

China’s Tianwen-1 mission nails historic rover landing on Mars: The Tianwen-1 spacecraft, which had been orbiting Mars since February, released a shielded capsule toward the surface on Friday afternoon. Inside was the rover Zhurong, strapped to the back of a landing vehicle that deployed parachutes and fired thrusters to slow itself down. The official landing time, according to Chinese state media service Xinhua, was 4:18 p.m. PT.
China follows the US in becoming just the second nation to have a rover travel across the Martian surface.
“Unlike NASA, which released images of the landing of the Perseverance Rover within minutes of them arriving back at Earth via the Deep Space Network, we have heard very little from CNSA about this mission,” said David Flannery, a planetary scientist at the Queensland University of Technology and member of the Perseverance team.

Recommendations & Requests

Recommendation, Malaga Car Clean: I have just bought an 11 year old 4×4 car that desperately needed the interior being thoroughly cleaned. Warren came to the house and carried out an absolutely first class job on the car, much better than I thought possible. The transformation was amazing and I couldn’t have asked for a better result. So, if your car needs bringing back to new condition, then Warren will carry out a first class job. I have never before posted a recommendation but I was so pleased with the job I thought I should share and recommend.

Important advice issued for anyone who has mixed AstraZeneca and Pfizer Covid jabs: Mixing coronavirus vaccines increased the frequency of mild to moderate symptoms in those who received different jabs for the first and second dose, preliminary data suggests.
Reactions included symptoms like chills, fatigue, headaches and feeling feverish, and were short-lived, according to a peer-reviewed letter that has been printed in The Lancet.
“The results from this study suggest that mixed dose schedules could result in an increase in work absences the day after immunisation, and this is important to consider when planning immunisation of healthcare workers.
“Importantly, there are no safety concerns or signals, and this does not tell us if the immune response will be affected.” Full article:

Spain updates documents Britons living in Spain need to enter under current restrictions: In a Facebook post titled *Documentation for UK nationals living in Spain before 1 January 2021 to enter Spain during current restrictions*, the British Embassy in Madrid wrote on Thursday May 13th:
“The Spanish Government has informed the UK Government that it has updated the list of documentation that UK nationals who were legally residing in Spain before 1 January 2021, and as such are beneficiaries of the Withdrawal Agreement, can use to prove their residence status when entering Spain while entry restrictions remain in place.”
The document, signed and stamped by the Spanish Embassy in London, says that Britons who were legally living in Spain before the end of 2020 will be required to present any one of the following documents to prove your residence status. Junta minister rejects the central government’s new self-employed contribution plans: The plans of the Social Security minister, José Luis Escrivá, do not sit well with the Junta de Andalucía that says “The planned reforms are untimely and come at a time when the self-employed are having a very bad time because of the pandemic.”
The regional government’s Minister of Employment, Rocío Blanco said, “This reform would badly hit the pockets of the self-employed Andalusians and the new government scheme acts as a disincentive for people to register as a self-employed person and would motivate them to stay in the underground economy.” “There must be super-reduced fees,” she said and guaranteed that the Andalusian Government will maintain, whatever happens, a flat rate of 60 euros. Hard To Detect Fileless Malware In Active Campaign Infecting Computers: Threat actors are abusing Microsoft Build Engine (MSBuild) to filelessly deliver remote access trojans and password-stealing malware on targeted Windows systems.
The actively ongoing campaign is said to have emerged last month, researchers from cybersecurity firm Anomali said on Thursday, adding the malicious build files came embedded with encoded executables and shellcode that deploy backdoors, allowing the adversaries to take control of the victims’ machines and steal sensitive information.
Full article: https://thehackernews.com/2021/05/hackers-using-microsoft-build-engine-to.html
DoctorLaptop Adds: This is precisely why people need to have their computers professionally serviced on a regular basis, as consumer level anti-malware tools cannot detect this type of malware! If you have valuable data, or need your computer for essential tasks, and if you are not getting a professional annual service, you are taking a large risk. Remember- Make regular data backups to an external memory device, or cloud storage, if you value your data! -DoctorLaptop

The fall of the fourth wave of Covid enters the plateau phase in Andalusia: {Translation} Updated: 05/13/2021, 18:55
-Andalusia counted 1,306 new cases of Covid on Thursday, which is 12 more than on Wednesday but 128 fewer than a week ago. Nine deaths due to Coronavirus infection have also been added to the death toll during the pandemic in the region, which now stands at 9,911.
-The evolution is very similar to that of the last few days, with a slowdown in the fall of infections, so that the epidemiological situation marks a plateau stage in this mild fourth wave that shows no major ups and downs. The most favourable trend can be seen in the figures for healthcare pressure, which continues to fall.
-The 14-day cumulative incidence rate of the community falls for the twenty-third day and stands at 171.5 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, 3.6 points less in one day and 21.7 points below last Thursday. The 7-day rate fell by 2 points to 74 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
-Cordoba (145), Malaga (128), Almeria (120) and Cadiz (89) have records below the average Andalusian incidence rate at 14 days. Meanwhile, Granada has the highest incidence rate with 308 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Seville (210), Jaén (207) and Huelva (193) have high alert values.
-In the daily evolution of the rate, the decrease of ten points in 24 hours in Almeria and 12 points in Granada stand out. Proof of the plateau situation in which we find ourselves is the slight one-day increase in the cumulative one-week incidence rate in Huelva and Cadiz, the province with the lowest evolution in this fourth wave. In the rest of the provinces, this indicator is decreasing.
-By provinces, Seville is once again the province with the most positive daily cases, with 398 on Thursday, followed by Granada with 234, Malaga with 182, Cordoba with 113, Jaen with 111, Cadiz with 109 and Huelva with 101. For the third consecutive day, Almeria is below one hundred, with 58 cases.
-In terms of deaths in the last 24 hours, Granada is once again the highest with three, Seville with two, and Huelva, Cordoba, Cadiz and Almeria with one each. Jaén and Málaga have no deaths.
-The best data are coming in these days in terms of hospitalisation. The clinical incidence of the virus is decreasing, which means that the number of Covid patients admitted to hospital has fallen to 1,127, forty fewer than on Wednesday. However, of the total number of patients admitted with Covid, 298 are critical in the ICU, 9 less than the day before. Andalusia adapts from this Thursday its capacity in bars, shops, hotels or cinemas after the state of alarm has fallen: {Translation} Updated: 13/05/2021 13:17
-The Junta de Andalucía (Andalusian regional government) has been applying from midnight on Thursday, 13 May, the regulated capacity for hotels, hotels, commercial and cultural establishments -such as cinemas and theatres-, as well as for wakes and funerals, after the state of alarm in force due to the Covid-19 pandemic was lifted until 9 May.
-This is stated in the order of May 7, 2021, of the Ministry of Health and Families, which establishes the levels of health alert and adopts temporary and exceptional measures for public health reasons in Andalusia for the containment of Covid-19 after the state of alarm, published last Friday in an extraordinary edition of the Official Gazette of the Junta de Andalucía (BOJA) and consulted by Europa Press.
-The order specifies that “the classification of the different levels and capacities” that it establishes “will take effect from 0.00 hours on 13 May 2021”, with the exception of the measures established in article 18 of the order relating to establishments for leisure and recreation and for meetings in public spaces, which take effect from 8.00 hours last Saturday, 8 May.
*Bars and restaurants*
-Apart from this point of the order, the capacity in catering establishments is also addressed in article 16, on prevention measures in these establishments, which states that, in level 1 of health alert, these businesses may not exceed 75% of the maximum capacity for consumption inside the premises, while they may occupy all of the tables allowed on outdoor terraces.
-Bars may occupy 100% of outdoor tables on levels 1, 2 and 3. The maximum permitted capacities are reduced in the other levels, so that they may not exceed 75% inside the premises on level 2; 50% on level 3 – although in both cases terraces may occupy all their tables -, and 30% on level 4, where the maximum capacity of terraces is limited to 75%.
-In terms of table occupancy, a maximum of eight people are allowed indoors and ten outdoors on level 1; six indoors and eight outdoors on level 2; four indoors and six outdoors on level 3, and in all three cases service and consumption at the bar is permitted, something that is prohibited on level 4, where tables will also be limited to four people indoors and six outdoors.
*Celebrations and banquets*
-For celebration halls, maximum indoor seating capacity is 75% of tables and a maximum of 300 people on level 1, 75% and a maximum of 200 people on level 2, 50% and a maximum of 100 people on level 3, and 30% and a maximum of 50 people on level 4.
-Outdoors, the open-air areas of the function rooms may occupy all permitted tables on levels 1, 2 and 3 and hold a maximum of 500, 400 and 250 people, respectively, while on level 4, they must respect a maximum of 50% of their seating capacity in tables or groupings of tables and, in any case, a maximum of 75 people.
-In addition, on levels 1 and 2, “small-format musical performances are permitted in function rooms, maintaining a distance of at least three metres from the public”, and on level 1, dancing with masks in outdoor areas is also permitted.
*Shops and hotels*
-On the other hand, the Board allows from Thursday a maximum occupancy of 100% in establishments, premises and shopping centres in level 1 health alert, which is reduced to a maximum of 75% in level 2, 60% in level 3 and 50% in level 4.
-Likewise, the occupancy of communal areas of hotels, tourist accommodation, campsites and areas for motorhomes may not exceed 100%, 75%, 50% and 30% of their capacity in outdoor communal areas and 75%, 50%, one third and 30% in indoor communal areas in alert levels 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively.
*The rule also regulates the capacity of swimming pools*
-In public swimming pools, the order allows them to be filled to 100% of their capacity in both outdoor and indoor pools at alert level 1, while lowering the maximum capacity allowed in indoor pools to 75% at alert level 2.
-At alert level 3, up to 75% of the permitted capacity is allowed in outdoor pools and 50% in indoor pools, and at level 4 up to 50% of the permitted capacity in outdoor pools and 30% in indoor pools.
*Wakes, burials and religious services*
-With regard to wakes and funerals, at health alert level 1, a maximum of 30 people are allowed for outdoor wakes and 20 for indoor wakes, “except in the latter case where the number of people living together is higher”, while participation in a funeral or procession for the burial or cremation of the deceased is restricted to a maximum of 50 people, including family members and relatives, “in addition, where appropriate, to the minister of worship or similar person of the respective confession, for the practice of the funeral rites to bid farewell to the deceased”.
-On the other hand, wake services may bring together a maximum of 25, 20 and 15 people in the open air on levels 2, 3 and 4, respectively, and 15 – levels 2 and 3 – and 6 – on level 4 – in enclosed spaces, while participation in funerals or processions for a burial or cremation is restricted to a maximum of 35 people on level 2, 20 on level 3 and 15 on level 4.
-For civil ceremonies, the maximum permitted capacities range from 75% indoors and outdoors at health alert level 1 to 30% at level 4, through 60% at level 2 and 50% at level 3.
*Cinemas, theatres and auditoriums*
-Cinemas, theatres and auditoriums may not exceed a maximum of 85% of the permitted capacity at level 1, 75% at level 2, 60% at level 3 and 50% at level 4.
-Similarly, in levels 1, 2 and 3 it is determined that, in regular public passenger transport by bus, all occupants must be seated and all seats may be used, while in metropolitan public passenger transport, all seated seats may be used and 75% of those available may be standing.
*Religious meetings and gatherings*
-On the other hand, “religious meetings and gatherings may be held in all types of public or private facilities, whether in open-air or indoor spaces, provided that 75% of their capacity is not exceeded and that interpersonal distance is maintained, at alert level 1”, as well as with a maximum capacity of 60% at level 2, 50% at level 3 and 30% at level 4.
*Bull Fights*
The order also regulates the maximum permitted capacity for bullfighting shows and festivities, which may not exceed 60% in level 1, 50% in level 2 and 40% in level 3, while in level 4 “there may be no spectators in the bullring and no popular bullfighting festivities may be held”.
*Sports*
-In conventional and non-conventional sports facilities, including gyms, the order establishes in level 1 a capacity limit for physical-sports practice of 85% outdoors, and 75% in conventional or non-conventional indoor sports spaces and facilities, as well as allowing “the holding of sporting competitions and events for competition, leisure or exhibition with the presence of spectators, with a maximum of 85% of the authorised capacity of the public in conventional or non-conventional outdoor sports facilities, with a maximum of 2,500 spectators, and a maximum of 75% of the authorised capacity of the public, with a maximum of 1,500 spectators in indoor spaces”. 500 spectators, and a maximum of 75% of the authorised capacity of the public, with a maximum of 1,500 spectators in indoor venues”.
-In the other alert levels, the capacity limits for physical-sports practice in outdoor areas are 75%, 60% and 50% in levels 2, 3 and 4, respectively, and 65%, 50% and 40%, respectively, in indoor areas. Weekly Covid-19 deaths in Spain fall 90% since start of vaccination campaign: The effect of the immunization program as well as a fall in transmission thanks to coronavirus restrictions has seen the number of victims plummet to a daily average of 52.
According to data from the Imserso institute for seniors and social services, in the last week of January 778 elderly people died in care homes due to Covid-19. But in recent months, and with such places completely protected, the number of victims in such centers has plummeted: just six deaths between April 26 and May 2, the last week for which there is consolidated data. Art classes in La Herradura starting again:
I am restarting my art classes. My name is Renate van Nijen and I’m an internationally exhibited artist (for over 35 years) and I’ve been teaching art in Spain since 2006, till Covid put a hold on things. Now, with rules relaxing, but still with caution, I’m offering my art classes again, for a limited number of people – maximum six. I’m also changing my rules. You can pay as you come, provided that you pay a small deposit (PayPal) to secure your space in advance. No more commitment to come every week. There are three options.
1. You can join the in-studio group, four spaces left, in La Herradura on Monday mornings from 10.00 to 13.00. It is a covered studio, so not inside, with fresh air circulating, and two people can work in a lush patio (provided you are OK with friendly dogs). You can either bring your own material or I can provide the materials. https://renatevannijen.com/weekly-painting-classes/
2. Women only group on Saturday morning from 10.30 to 12.30 CET (9.30 start BST). This is an online group which already exists since the beginning of the Covid lockdown. You need to have your own material. Teaching online really works and you are still part of a group and can interact with women from all over the world, whilst sitting in your own house or garden. You will be part of a Facebook group where everyone can share their work. You can pay on a 4-week basis, but you get the first class for free! https://renatevannijen.com/online-art-classes/ . If you have to miss a class you can let me know in advance and come a next time without losing your money.
3. Book your own master class. Get together with a group of friends, minimum four, maximum six) for a great, creative day out. We will work 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the afternoon. For lunch you can check out one of the seaside restaurants or chiringuitos. https://renatevannijen.com/painting-classes-and-workshop/

Covid- Andalucia Update: {Translation} Updated: 12/05/2021, 18:35
-On Wednesday, Andalusia recorded 1,294 new Covid infections, 72 more cases than on the same day a week ago and 231 more than on Tuesday, confirming a certain slowdown in the slow decline in the incidence of coronavirus in the region. The Regional Ministry of Health recorded 19 deaths on this day, which is four more than the number of deaths caused by Covid-19 a week ago in the region.
-The incidence rate has fallen to 175 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants. The same figure for a week falls to 76 cases, recovering two points from Tuesday’s rise. This data generates confidence in the progressive lessening of the impact of the pandemic in the short term but the ups and downs of the last two days define that we are not in a controlled epidemiological situation but rather in a situation of plateau.
-In the evolution of the incidence rate by province, it is worth noting that all provinces are outside the extreme alert level in terms of one-week incidence rates. Almeria, Cadiz, Cordoba and Malaga already have records of medium risk.
-The number of people hospitalised with Covid is also lower this Wednesday after two days with an increase. There are 1,167 Andalusians hospitalised with a Covid diagnosis, 64 fewer than on Tuesday and 152 fewer than on the same day last week. Of the total 307 are admitted to ICU 15 less than on Tuesday and 36 less than last week.

Six indoors and eight outdoors permitted in bars and restaurants in Malaga province from tomorrow: Updated: 12 May 2021, 18:26
-The state of alarm may be gone, but the Junta de Andalucía regional government remains in control of a number of restrictions. As of Thursday, 13 May, new capacity limits will apply in shops, bars, restaurants, cinemas and theatres.
-In Malaga province, which is practically all on a level 2 health alert, the number of people per table in bars or restaurants will increase to six people inside (previously four) and eight outside (previously six). Bar service is also permitted again.
-Only when an area is put in level 1 can this increase to eight inside and ten outside.
*Shops, cinemas and buses*
-The maximum occupancy permitted in shops and hotels will be 75 per cent from Thursday.
-Outdoor swimming pools can be filled to capacity, but indoor ones must be restricted to 75 per cent.
-Culture, one of the sectors most affected by restrictions, will also get some relief, with capacity in cinemas, theatres and auditoriums to increase to 75 per cent.
-Only 50 per cent capacity is allowed during bullfights.
-On buses that go between municipalities, all passengers must be seated and all seats may be used. On short-distance buses, all seats may be occupied and standing capacity must not exceed 75 per cent.
-In sports facilities, 75 per cent capacity will apply outdoors and 65 per cent indoors.
*Religious services and ceremonies*
-Meanwhile, religious gatherings may be held in all types of public or private facilities, whether in open-air or indoor spaces, as long as they do not exceed 60 per cent of their seating capacity.
-Ceremonies are also regulated: wakes and burials are restricted to a maximum of 25 people outdoors and 15 indoors, unless the number of people living together is higher, while participation in funerals is limited to 35 people.
-In civil ceremonies, the maximum permitted capacity is 60 per cent.
*A few still at Level 4*
-Currently, the entire province of Malaga is at level 2, except for Cuevas del Becerro and Almáchar, which remain at level 4, having registered an accumulated incidence of more than 1,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Covid News- Pockets of the UK have seen sharp rises in cases, here’s where the hotspots are: There are 28 local authority areas in England, 4 in Northern Ireland and 2 in Scotland that have case rates twice the national average.
Nearly half of those areas recorded an increase in infections when compared to the preceding two-week period.
Hyndburn in Lancashire has the highest two-week case rate of 199.9 per 100,000 people. It has seen a 211.5% rise in its case rate. That is one of the largest increases among the places in the country that currently have the highest infection rates.

Greece will be added to the UK’s ‘green list’ in June, says country’s tourism minister – after Spain said Brits will NOT need a test or vaccine passport to enter:
-Haris Theoharis said he was confident Greece would go green on June 7, but added that they were ‘disappointed’ not to be on the UK’s list with Portugal from Monday, May 17.
-Spain announced it will not demand any British holidaymaker presents a covid passport or proof of a negative test on arrival from May 20. But with no sign of the UK adding the country to its ‘green list’ of destinations, travellers will still have to self-isolate for ten days when they get home and at least two PCR tests. Football News- Champions League Final Is Moving to Portugal: Istanbul is in lockdown and England wouldn’t bend on coronavirus travel restrictions, so European soccer’s governing body will take its showcase game to Porto, Portugal.
The final, which will be played May 29 at the Estádio Dragão in the coastal city of Porto, is the biggest day on the European club soccer calendar. It had been scheduled to be played at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, but that would have ruled out attendance for most British fans of the finalists, since Turkey is on a so-called red list of countries to which travel is discouraged.
