Golden Leaves Funeral Plans:
Pre-planning your funeral is a thoughtful and responsible way to show you care about your family.
Funerals are no easy task. There are numerous considerations to factor in, including logistics, food and drink, casket purchase and burial grounds. A loved one’s death brings immense emotional strain to any family, and the question of financing and arrangements only exacerbates the stress.
Handling all of these challenges is difficult enough in one’s normal circumstances, but having to go through it while abroad is an enormous burden.
Golden Leaves Funeral Plans aims to support grieving families during these tumultuous times. Since our inception in 1984, we have partnered with a widespread network of funeral directors across the UK and Europe.
Purchasing a funeral plan with Golden Leaves enables you to plan, design and pay for your funeral services in advance.
As one of the leading providers of expat prepaid funeral plans in Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, Balearic Islands, and the Canary Islands, we make sure to adequately support your family in the time of greatest need.

Halting Erosion using Vetiver:
From Vetiver Spain in Sayalonga
Our Nursery is open by appointment depending on the current travel restrictions. Please email or call first. We have Moringa seedlings, Organic Moringa powder and Comfrey plants. We also have some local trees and some exotic trees from Africa.
Vetiver is a rapid growing and non-invasive sterile clump grass with a height of 1-2 metres and a root system of 3-4 metres in depth. We have been providing Vetiver throughout the EU for almost 10 years now. We are located in Sayalonga where we can plant year round but our best results by far start in February. The reason is that Vetiver is indigenous to India and Vetiver loves the heat of the summer. Use Vetiver cuttings as mulch around all of your fruit trees. Decomposing Vetiver improves soil quality, keeps the weeds down and the insects away all while helping to maintain soil moisture.
Vetiver is a nutritious and replenishable animal fodder. Horses and pigs love it. We use it in our chicken pens replacing hay because it stops mites.
In the 2 photos below you will see land prepared for Vetiver and the results 2 years later.
We also use Vetiver along driveways and sidewalks. It also makes a great and inexpensive ornamental hedge.
Here is a link to a short video showing the results.
https://youtu.be/rjTmb_LL2uo
We suggest planting now, as this is the BEST time of the year to plant.
To see more images of Vetiver go to this link.

Covid Andalucia- Andalucía registers 53 Covid deaths in 24 hours, the highest number since 11 May: The region has added 1,909 new coronavirus infections in the last day, and its incidence rate continues to drop to 328.8
-The Andalusian region has this Tuesday, 24 August, registered a total of 1,909 new coronavirus infections, 468 fewer in 24 hours and 1,394 less than those reported seven days ago, according to the data provided by Junta’s Ministry of Health.
-The department has also added 53 deaths, some 40 more in one day and a figure that has been seen since 11 May, when 54 deaths were counted. As for the 53 deaths registered in the last 24 hours, in Seville there were 13, in Malaga 12, eight in Cordoba, seven in Almeria, five in Granada, three in Cadiz and Jaén and two in Huelva. The British Medical Journal- How did the Pfizer vaccine get US-FDA approval in less than two years?:
-The U.S. Food and Drug Administration fully approved the first COVID-19 vaccine on Monday. Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, which will be marketed as Comirnaty, is now available for people over 16 without emergency use authorization (EUA).
-Kim Witczak, a drug safety advocate who serves as a consumer representative on the FDA’s Psychopharmacologic Drugs Advisory Committee, said the decision removed an important mechanism (a data review meeting) for scrutinizing the data.
-Witczak is one of the more than 30 signatories of a citizen petition calling on the FDA to refrain from fully approving any covid-19 vaccine this year to gather more data. She warned that without a meeting “we have no idea what the data looks like.”
“It is already concerning that full approval is being based on 6 months’ worth of data despite the clinical trials designed for two years,” she said.
-She continued, “There is no control group after Pfizer offered the product to placebo participants before the trials were completed! Full approval of covid-19 vaccines must be done in an open public forum for all to see. It could set a precedent of lowered standards for future vaccine approvals.” Full article: https://www.bmj.com/content/374/bmj.n2086

UK

Brits with EU partners warned over future problems returning to the UK: While most Brits living abroad have managed to secure their residency rights since Brexit, they could face a whole different set of problems if they ever want to return to the UK and take their spouse or partner with them. Despite assurances given by the British government, the citizens’ rights campaign group British in Europe is warning that it is already seeing problems with the system, despite the deadline still being six months away.
Since the end of the Brexit transition period, EU nationals who want to move to the UK face a tough immigration process which has strict requirements including a minimum level of English and financial requirements. Simply being married or in a civil partnership with a UK national does not remove these obligations.

Spain’s Met Office warns of a sudden change in the weather this Tuesday: Aemet has activated yellow warnings for storms and strong wind gusts in four in Andalusian provinces, and there could be ‘muddy’ showers too.
In Andalucía, yellow warnings for storms and strong gusts of wind have been activated on Tuesday, 24 August, in Córdoba, Jaén, Granada and Almería provinces. Specifically, the alerts will affect, from 12 noon to 10pm, the Sierra and Pedroches (Cordoba), Morena and Condado, Cazorla and Segura (Jaén); Guadix and Baza (Granada) and in the Almanzora Valley and Los Vélez (Almería).
In addition, Aemet has announced, on Tuesday suspended dust will also reach the mainland, which will be more noticeable in the southern half of the country, where the air quality will worsen and will cause some of the showers to be ‘muddy’.

Juanma Moreno supports the decision to allow the Morón and Rota bases to take in Afghan people: {Translation}
Updated: 23AUG21, 15:44
-The President of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, said on Monday, in relation to the agreement between Spain and the United States for the use of the American bases of Morón de la Frontera (Seville) and Rota (Cadiz) for the arrival of Afghans who want to leave this country, that “the bases of Rota and Morón can be essential in this shared objective”, which Moreno has placed in “contributing to saving lives”. “It will be a source of pride,” the Andalusian president added of this collaboration.
-The Andalusian president’s statement was made in a tweet published on his personal Twitter account and is the first reaction from the regional government after the telephone conversation between the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, and the President of the United States, Joe Biden, was reported on Sunday, with the aim of agreeing that Afghan collaborators from this country should pass through Spanish soil before they can reach other countries.
-“Hopefully one day the Afghans fleeing the horror will be able to return to their country and regain their freedoms”, concluded the president of the Junta in his public statement on the arrival of Afghan refugees at the Morón and Rota bases. EU Member States Advised to Facilitate Entry Restrictions for Travellers From Parts of Spain (including Andalucia), Starting From This Week: The majority of the Spanish territory has gone from dark red into red in maps published weekly by the EU Centre for Disease Prevention and Control. The change in colour means that it is still unsafe to travel to Spain due to the current COVID-19 infection rates in this country, but yet, it is safer than last week. According to the EU common approach on travel measures, all Member States should require persons travelling from ‘dark red’ areas to take a pre-departure COVID-19 test and undergo quarantine upon arrival.
-Currently, only the following Spanish regions remain coloured in dark red: Andalusia, Extremadura, Basque & La Rioja. Full article: https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/news/eu-member-states-advised-to-facilitate-entry-restrictions-for-travellers-from-spain-starting-from-this-week/

Google is shutting down the Android Auto phone app:
Instead, Android users can try the Google Assistant driving mode. A statement from Google shared with 9to5Google confirms this plan. “Google Assistant driving mode is our next evolution of the mobile driving experience,” the statement reads. “For the people who use Android Auto in supported vehicles, that experience isn’t going away. For those who use the on-phone experience (Android Auto mobile app), they will be transitioned to Google Assistant driving mode. Starting with Android 12, Google Assistant driving mode will be the built-in mobile driving experience. We have no further details to share at this time.” Full article: https://www.engadget.com/android-auto-phone-app-shutting-down-130020711.html

NASA released a stunning image taken by the Hubble Space Telescope depicting a spiral galaxy 68 million light-years away from Earth: The spiral galaxy is known as NGC 1385 and is located in the constellation Fornax — the Latin word for “furnace,” according to a NASA blog. Described by the agency as “jewel-bright,” the image was captured using Hubble’s Wide Field Camera 3, which is considered to be the telescope’s “workhorse camera” due to its reliability.

Astronomy Monday- A ‘Blue Moon’ With Jupiter And Summer’s Brightest Star: Since it’s the third of four full Moons this summer season, it’s technically termed a “Blue Moon” by astronomers, but as you’ll see, it will turn from orange to yellow, not blue, as it rises into the night sky. It will be sharing the sky with a very bright Jupiter nearby, see pic below.
Monday, August 23, 2021: A full ‘Blue Moon’. Here’s a chance to see, at dusk and in the east, the exquisite sight of a rising full Moon. Rain Has Been Reported On Greenland’s Ice Sheet Summit For The First Time Ever: For the first time in recorded history, rain fell on and off for 13 hours on the highest point of Greenland’s ice sheet, 3,216 meters (10,551 feet) above sea level, on August 14. The rain lasted for several hours and air temperatures remained above freezing for about nine hours, as reported by the National Science Foundation’s Summit Station.
This is the third time in less than a decade, and the latest date in the year on record, where the temperature was above the freezing point of water and precipitation involved wet snow. Previous melting events took place in 2019 and 2012. Using ice core data, scientists have estimated the last melting event at the ice cap top took place in the late 1800s. Apple Just Gave Millions Of Users A Reason To Quit Their iPhones: iPhone users have put up with a lot in recent months but the company’s new CSAM detection system has proved to be a lightning rod of controversy that stands out from all the rest. And if you were thinking of quitting your iPhone over it, a shocking new report might just push you over the edge.
In a new editorial published by The Washington Post, a pair of researchers who spent two years developing a CSAM (child sexual abuse material) detection system similar to the one Apple plans to install on users’ iPhones, iPads and Macs next month, have delivered an unequivocal warning: it’s dangerous.
This has been the predominant fear regarding Apple’s CSAM initiative. The goal of the technology to reduce child abuse is indisputably important but the potential damage that could come from hackers and governments manipulating a system designed to search your iCloud photos and report abusive content, is clear to all.
And recent history doesn’t bode well. Last month, revelations about the Pegasus project exposed a global business which had been successfully hacking iPhones for years and selling their technology to foreign governments for surveillance of anti-regime activists, journalists, and political leaders from rival nations. With access to Apple technology designed to scan and flag the iCloud photos of a billion iPhone owners, this could go a lot further.

El Puente Christian Fellowship – Sunday Service
El Puente Christian Fellowship is a loving, multi-national, Bible believing community of Christ, who meet each Sunday at 11 am to worship The Lord. We enjoy a time of worship with contemporary songs and traditional hymns, and a message brought to us by one of the Elders or a visiting speaker.
The church meeting hall is situated underneath Maroma Inmobiliaria Puente Don Manuel, Cruce de Periana – 29713.
Full directions and further information can be found on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/El-Puente-Christian-Fellowship-105285888299225/or please contact us by email on elpuentechristianfellowship@gmail.com. For those who cannot join us in person, we aim to stream Sunday services via the Facebook page (subject to a good internet connection!).

St George’s Church Málaga: We are part of the Church of England in Spain covering the area from Torremolinos in the west to the outskirts of Nerja in the east and to the northern edge of Malaga province.
We have three worship centres, in Velez-Málaga, Málaga city and Salinas. Everyone is welcome to our Sunday services in English, and you can also contact us to enquire about baptisms, marriage blessings, funerals, and house blessings.
Father Louis, our Chaplain, is available for counsel and support, regardless of anyone’s beliefs or background. We aspire to be a welcoming and inclusive community, open to all people seeking faith and friendship.
If you can’t get to church, we live-stream our Sunday services on Facebook, and also gather on Zoom for an informal service on Wednesday mornings.
Sign up for our newsletter by emailing Father Louis at malagachaplain@gmail.com to receive login details, and news of other future events. We look forward to welcoming you and being of service.

UK approves Regeneron/Roche antibody cocktail for COVID-19:
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said clinical trial data shows the drug Ronapreve could help prevent infection, help resolve symptoms of severe COVID-19 infection and reduce the chances of hospitalisation. Ronapreve, known as REGEN-COV in the United States, can be taken via injection or infusion. It binds tightly to the coronavirus at the lining of the respiratory system and prevents it from gaining access to cells of the respiratory system, the MHRA said.
Ronapreve belongs to a class of drugs called monoclonal antibodies which mimic natural antibodies produced by the body to fight off infections. Full article: https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/uk-regulator-approves-first-monoclonal-antibody-treatment-covid-19-2021-08-20/

New England preps for 1st hurricane in 30 years with Henri: New Englanders bracing for their first direct hit by a hurricane in 30 years began hauling boats out of the water and taking other precautions Friday as Tropical Storm Henri barreled toward the Northeast coast.
-Henri was expected to intensify into a hurricane by Saturday, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said. Impacts could be felt in New England states by Sunday, including on Cape Cod, which is teeming with tens of thousands of summer tourists.
-Thursday marked exactly 30 years since Hurricane Bob came ashore in Rhode Island as a Category 2 storm, killing at least 17 people and leaving behind more than $1.5 billion worth of damage. Bob, which left streets in coastal towns littered with boats blown free of their moorings, left hundreds of thousands without power and water for days. FBI Insiders Tell Reuters News the Violence at Jan. 6 Attack on the U.S. Capitol Was Not Centrally Coordinated by Far-right Groups or Prominent Supporters of then-President Donald: The FBI has found scant evidence that the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol was the result of an organized plot to overturn the presidential election result, according to four current and former law enforcement officials.
Though federal officials have arrested more than 570 alleged participants, the FBI at this point believes the violence was not centrally coordinated by far-right groups or prominent supporters of then-President Donald Trump, according to the sources, who have been either directly involved in or briefed regularly on the wide-ranging investigations. Fakebook Dis-Info Returns: FB is again being flooded with posts to local and regional “Info Pages”, by supposed experts, spreading false info. These posts are on a variety of subjects: Covid, Rental Laws, Medical Advice, etc. If someone posts, claiming to be an expert, but provides no evidence proving that they really are an expert, such as a link to their business website, then they may be claiming false credentials. True professionals are proud of their status and should be more than willing to share proof of it. Also, if someone posts a supposed fact, but provides no link to a website confirming the fact, it can not be trusted. Healthy skepticism is the best attitude to take when on Fakebook. And asking on FB for legal, technical or medical advice is just plain stupid. Instead, ask for referrals to an expert on the subject. Then contact that expert directly for advice. -Ed.

COVID-19

Covid Andalucia: {Translation} Updated 19/08/2021, 17:40
-Andalusia marks this Thursday a cumulative incidence rate of 390 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants at two weeks. This is 210 points less than the maximum reached in this wave just a fortnight ago, when it was close to 600 points. The drop, of 35 percent, shows that the fifth wave is on its way to becoming history.
-The reason for this drop in incidence is the decrease in the number of reported infections. Thus, this Thursday Andaulcía records 2,031 cases of Covid-19, almost 1,700 less than on the same day last week. Although this week’s data may have been altered by the bank holidays on Monday, it can be seen that the number of infections remains below 2,000, except for one day. The trend until last week, however, was for the figures to be well over 3,000.
-By provinces, Seville once again continues to have the most cases with 514, followed by Malaga with 335, Cadiz with 291, Granada with 258, Cordoba with 178, Jaen with 170, Huelva with 143 and Almeria with 142.
-At this point in the fifth wave, only the death toll has yet to fall. Deaths continue to be reported by the dozens and this Thursday there are 30 Covid fatalities in the community. This brings the total death toll from the pandemic to 10,645.
-Of the 30 deaths, more than half (16) have occurred in the province of Seville, followed by Almeria, Granada and Malaga with four each and two in Cordoba. Cádiz, Huelva and Jaén are the provinces with no deaths.
-In hospitals, the situation is improving for another day. Thus, this Thursday there are 1,351 admitted by Covid in Andalusia, 69 less than yesterday. In the ICU there are 229, a dozen less than the previous day. Covid Spain- Ministry of Health adds 144 Covid deaths in Spain, for the second consecutive day: In the latest 24-hour period, the country registered 11,956 positive coronavirus tests while the cumulative incidence rate fell to 378. Although the fifth wave is in remission, for the second consecutive day, another 144 deaths were added this Wednesday (18 August).
However, the number of new infections and the cumulative incidence rates have improved, which should lead to the death toll dropping. Full article: http://www.surinenglish.com/national/202108/19/ministry-health-adds-covid-20210819093951.html

SPAIN

Spanish experts warn of ‘plague’ of black flies after the heat wave: After the first heat wave of summer 2021, which saw temperatures rise above 40 degrees in many parts of Spain, another phenomenon has arrived in the country in the form of a ‘plague’ of black flies.
That is the claim of experts from the country’s National Association of Environmental Health Companies (Anecpla) that warns of the increase in the black fly population, especially on riverbanks, where it reproduces.
This insect does not sting, it bites tearing the skin and it is extremely painful. According to Anecpla, this fly, measuring just six millimetres long, “in a swarm can kill mice or birds and, in the case of people, its attack usually causes swelling and wounds that can last more than a week.” The bite of a black fly can lead to “very alarming infections and allergic reactions, which in some cases require hospitalisation”, explains the general director of the National Association of Environmental Health Companies, Jorge Galvan. SEVILLE

There are already three people infected with the West Nile Virus in Seville, of which two remain hospitalized: {Translation}
-The outbreak of the Nile virus in the province of Seville has now reached three people, as announced by the Andalusian Health Service, two of whom remain hospitalised in the Virgen del Rocío Hospital.
-The 73-year-old woman from Coria del Río, who was diagnosed last Wednesday, has now been joined by another 69-year-old woman, also from Coria del Río, who has tested positive and is also hospitalised.
-However, none of these people are in an intensive care unit (ICU).
-The third person with Nile Virus is a 63-year-old resident of Villamanrique de la Condesa, although she is at home, according to sources from the Regional Ministry of Health.
-Thus, the Nile virus has so far affected three people, while last year it affected several dozen, of whom up to six died from meningoencephalitis, a disease for which there is no vaccine so far for humans but there is for horses, mammals that suffer from the bites of the insect that transmits the virus.
-This is after the 2020 outbreak resulted in a total of 76 cases – 40 confirmed and 36 probable – with 71 of these cases in Andalusia and five in Extremadura. Within the 71 Andalusian cases, the province of Seville accounted for 57 cases, especially in the area of Coria and Puebla del Río, including six deaths; and 14 cases corresponded to the province of Cádiz, including three deaths. SPORTS

Inside Formula 1’s biggest ever rule changes- but will the new 2022 regulations actually increase overtaking?: The changes include a complete overhaul of the technical regulations which will visibly alter the way the cars look and, it is hoped, allow for much closer racing between them, with improved overtaking.
-‘The wake’ is the crux of the overtaking issue. When running at speed, F1 cars create turbulent air, which is dispersed outwards so as not to disturb the rear wing. The resulting wake affects the following car by significantly reducing its downforce (which ‘sticks’ cars to the road) and causing vital systems to overheat. It is therefore very difficult to get close enough to attempt an overtaking manoeuvre or even follow another car through corners. The solution was to re-write the technical rules. Vaccines Are Less Effective Against Delta—And Pfizer’s Protection Wanes Rapidly—But Are The Best Way To Protect Against Covid, Large Study Finds: While vaccination is still the best way to protect against the delta variant, preliminary research from scientists at the University of Oxford found the shots to be less protective against infection and to lose effectiveness rapidly in the months following vaccination, adding weight to calls to administer booster shots even as many countries have barely begun their vaccination campaigns.
Fully vaccinated people infected with the delta Covid-19 variant still carry the same amount of coronavirus as unvaccinated people, the study found. This is in line with other research and could, the researchers said, make achieving herd immunity “unachievable for emerging variants.” Herd immunity is a threshold of population-level immunity where the virus cannot transmit and spread. If vaccinated people still carry as much virus as unvaccinated people, it means they may be just as able to transmit the virus just as easily. Fakebook’s Illegal Business Practices Exposed AGAIN- FTC says Facebook ‘bought and buried’ rivals in renewed antitrust fight: The U.S. Federal Trade Commission refiled its antitrust case against Facebook Inc (FB.O) on Thursday, accusing it of illegally maintaining monopoly power after the regulator suffered a setback earlier this year when a federal judge threw out its lawsuit against the company.
At 80 pages, the new complaint is significantly longer than the original, 53-page complaint and includes additional data and evidence intended to support the FTC’s contention that Facebook is a monopolist. SPAIN

Spain at risk of missing August vaccination target as rate of immunization drive slows: At the current pace – which has dropped by half – the Spanish government will not reach its goal of fully vaccinating 70% of the population until September. This percentage was thought to be needed for herd immunity to be achieved in Spain, but given the emergence of the more-contagious delta variant, it has become a more symbolic target. Experts consider that vaccine coverage of over 80% will be needed, and many doubt whether herd immunity can be achieved at all. Covid measures in Andalusia- Health raises to six the number of diners at the same table indoors: {Translation, summary} Updated: 18/08/2021, 18:47
-The committee of experts assisting the Andalusian government in the management of the pandemic has decided that the limit of diners at the same table inside bars and restaurants and in celebration halls in alert levels 1 and 2 will now be six people. Until now it was only four.
-In addition to increasing the number of diners, the experts have proposed extending the current control measures. So there are few changes for this committee meeting.

COVID-19

Covid Andalucia Summary: {Translation} Updated: :17/08/2021 16:47
-Andalusia has added 3,303 new Covid-19 infections this Tuesday. This is slightly less than on the same day last week, although it is more than likely that these numbers have been altered by the bank holidays. In any case, it means that the community continues to fall in the fifth wave of the pandemic.
-By provinces, Seville once again continues to have the most cases with 826, followed by Malaga with 761, Cadiz with 537, Granada with 362, Almeria with 297, Cordoba with 234, Jaen with 193 and Huelva with 93.
-This is also reflected in the cumulative incidence, which drops to both two weeks and seven days. In the first case, this figure, which measures the advance of the pandemic, stands at 457.3 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants at 14 days, almost 50 points less than the weekend and a decrease of more than 150 points compared to the peak of this wave, which was close to 600. It has gone from more than 200 cases per 100,000 inhabitants to 182.
-And where there are also lower figures is in the number of deaths, which this Tuesday in Andalusia are seven. However, this figure, like the number of infections, may be the result of the bank holidays and the weekend, so we will have to wait for the data for the rest of the week to see if this figure stabilises or rises. In any case, eight deaths have been recorded in Andalusia on Tuesday by Covid, bringing the total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic in the region to 10,578.
-Of the eight deaths, Malaga has recorded five deaths and Cadiz three. The remaining six Andalusian provinces have not recorded any deaths.
-Meanwhile, the numbers in hospitals continue to fall. Particularly in the ICU, where on Tuesday there were -16 people admitted, the biggest drop since May, more than three months ago. Thus, this Tuesday there are 231 people admitted to intensive care. In total there are 1,397, which although 68 more than yesterday Monday, are almost a hundred less than at the peak of this wave, which reached almost 1,500 hospitalised. Covid Malaga Summary: In its daily update for the Malaga province, the Junta de Andalucía’s Ministry of Health has reported five deaths, 761 positive coronavirus infections as well as 840 people who have overcome the disease.
Although the coronavirus cumulative incidence rate in Malaga province remains high, it has dropped by 70.6 points in the last four days, suggesting that the worst of the fifth wave is already behind us. It has gone from a rate of 576.1 on Friday to 505.5 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, this Tuesday (17 August). The lists have already become effective on August 16 and will remain in place until August 22, on Sunday, when the new lists are set to be introduced.
Currently, the following EU and Schengen Area countries are considered high-risk by the Spanish authorities: Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, and Sweden.

Cancel Culture Fail- Bob Dylan Hit With Bogus Lawsuit Claiming Molestation of 12yr Old in NYC April-May 1965- Not Possible, He Wasn’t There: From March 27 to April 24, 1965, Dylan toured with Joan Baez on the West Coast of the United States -from Santa Monica, California, to Seattle, Washington-about 4,000 miles from New York. On April 26, 1965 Bob Dylan arrived in London. He didn’t return to the United States until June 2nd. In late April he was mostly on the West Coast of England. All of this is recorded in calendars tracking Dylan’s whereabouts because he was a young superstar.
Yet this afternoon comes news of a complaint filed by a 68 year old woman who says Dylan groomed and molested her in New York at the Chelsea Hotel in April and May 1965 when she was 12 years old.
The calendars speak for themselves. And in London, Dylan was filmed on tour by DA Pennebaker for the famous documentary, “Don’t Look Back.” So the lawsuit or complaint is bogus.
The lawsuit was filed on Friday, just one day before the end of the extension of the special period of two years to report decades old sex crimes (temporarily over ruling statutes of limitations time limits for prosecution), established by the governor of the state of New York as he coddled the early #MeToo movement.
But this is the environment they’ve created, where accusations fly and celebrities are dubbed guilty before anyone checks the facts. Full article: https://www.showbiz411.com/2021/08/16/bob-dylan-hit-with-bogus-lawsuit-claiming-molestation-in-nyc-april-may-1965-not-possible-he-wasnt-there

COVID-19

Covid Spain- Incidence drops by another 46 points over the weekend and Health reports 125 deaths and 25,726 cases: {Translation} Updated: 16/08/2021, 18:34.
-The Ministry of Health has published updated figures on Monday on coronavirus infections, hospitalisations and deaths in Spain and, compared to Friday’s report, the total number of people infected with COVID-19 has increased by 25,726, bringing the national total to 4,719,266 people since the start of the pandemic.
-In addition, Health has reported 125 new deaths from SARS-CoV-2 infection since Friday, bringing the official death toll since the start of the pandemic to 82,595.
-In terms of the 14-day national cumulative incidence, the figure fell by a further 46.33 points over the weekend to 415.90 cases per 100,000 population. However, the Ministry of Health explains in its report on Monday that the data for Castile and Leon are not up to date as it is a public holiday.
-The downward trend in the accumulated incidence has not been accompanied this weekend by a decrease in hospital pressure. There are currently 9,356 hospitalised patients (Friday there were 9,308), which corresponds to 7.97% of occupied beds (Friday it was 7.92%). The occupancy rate in ICUs has also risen slightly, from 20.78% to 20.96%.
Spain now has close to 30 million people with a full vaccination schedule
-According to the latest vaccination report published by the Ministry of Health, Spain has reached a total of 29,794,008 people with a complete vaccination schedule against COVID-19 (62.2% of the population).
-If we look at the number of people with at least one dose of the vaccine, the figure rises to 34,455,543 people (73.2% of Spaniards). In total, since the vaccination campaign began in Spain, a total of 61,418,303 doses of the four vaccines approved to date by the EMA have been administered.

Covid Malaga- Sharp drop in coronavirus infections in Malaga, but with four deaths: {Translation, summary} Updated: 16 Aug, 2021, 13:57
-Malaga has registered this Monday a fall in the number of coronavirus infections with 301 new cases, according to the balance sheet sent by the Regional Ministry of Health, compared to the 990 reported last Monday and the 728 reported on Saturday, the last day this figure was reported. This is a significant decrease – a far cry from the 1,980 reported on 23 July – since the Junta de Andalucía has not reported such a low number of positives in the province since the start of the summer, but it should be borne in mind that yesterday was Sunday and that this Monday is a public holiday – fewer PCRs are usually carried out on both days – and it is therefore more prudent to wait to see how the week evolves before drawing conclusions.
-In addition to this, fatalities continue to be reported in the province of Malaga. Monday’s report records another four deaths, bringing to 1,809 the number of deaths caused by Covid in Malaga in the 17 months of the pandemic.
-The positive aspect of this day’s data is that the number of people cured remains one day above the thousand mark. This Monday a total of 1,094 people have been cured of Covid, making a total of 122,509 people who have managed to overcome the virus in the province of Malaga since the beginning of the pandemic.
-On the other hand, there is once again a slight easing of the pressure of care and the province begins the week with 405 people hospitalised for Covid, which is 28 less than 48 hours ago. Even so, during this time 38 more patients have been admitted to health centres in the province, none of them in the Intensive Care Units where, as of today, there are 74 patients with coronavirus in a more serious condition. MALAGA

Flamencopolis every Thursday night at the Mijas Pueblo bullring: A dedicated troupe presents Flamencopolis every Thursday night at the Mijas Pueblo bullring until September 9. The show combines flamenco with acrobatics, comic numbers and live dancing fused together by different musical genres. A total of 10 people will be on stage, including dancers, musicians, acrobats or fire eaters. Tickets which cost €30 for adults can be purchased online through a number of different outlets although http://www.flamencotickets.com charges no management fee and the show starts at 10pm, lasting around 90 minutes with a short break.
On the assumption that Mijas remains in Level 3, doors will open 45 minutes before the start of the show to avoid crowds, and seats will be positioned so that there will be one and half metres separation between non-family groups. Why Is My Fakebook Homepage Timeline Not In Chronological Order, and How To Fix It?: The FB developers like to throw us curve balls from time to time that make using the app or desktop site a pain in the neck. New avatars pop up that we can’t get rid of easily. Posts pushing false information show up in our timelines.
Many of us just want to get our Facebook timelines to show our posts in chronological order. It would seem like the most logical way to follow what’s happening in real time, but Facebook developers have other ideas. Facebook’s default timeline display is based on the company’s algorithm that shows users what it believes is relevant and important. See this article for the fix. https://www.simplemost.com/how-set-facebook-news-feed-chronological-order/

How Did My Email Get Hacked? Dozens of Security Flaws Found Affecting Popular Email Clients: Some of the popular clients affected by the new bugs include Apple Mail, Gmail, Mozilla Thunderbird, Claws Mail, Mutt, Evolution, Exim, Mail.ru, Samsung Email, Yandex, and KMail.
These flaws have been recently patched, so be sure your email apps are fully updated if you use any of these often hacked services. (Do not rely on a free email service if you want any degree of security, privacy or customer support. -Ed.) Researchers say, “As a general recommendation you should always update your software and (to also profit from faster connections) reconfigure your email client to use implicit TLS only.” Full article: https://thehackernews.com/2021/08/dozens-of-starttls-related-flaws-found.html

SCAM ALERT– Be aware of new phishing scam claiming to be Banco Santander: The National Institute of Cybersecurity (Incibe) has warned, via its website, of the proliferation of a new scam through which a group of cybercriminals will attempt to take control of your bank account, with the intention of robbing you. As is common in these types of attacks, scammers pretend to be your bank to inform you that something is wrong with your account, or sometimes you might receive a message stating that that the ‘bank’ is going to close certain functions of your account services. The intention, whichever way they attempt to trick you, is to offer you a solution to solve the problem, by asking you to access the link provided in their email, ‘to avoid your card being blocked’. However, the link in question will redirect you to a fraudulent website from which they will try to get your personal and bank details, along with your ID number to the access code to the bank. Why Don’t Black Holes Swallow All of Space? This Explanation Is Blowing Our Minds: Black holes are great at sucking up matter. So great, in fact, that not even light can escape their grasp (hence the name).
But given their talent for consumption, why don’t black holes just keep expanding and expanding and simply swallow the Universe? Here is one researcher’s explanation.
Conveniently, the idea could also unite the two biggest theories in all of physics. Full article: https://www.sciencealert.com/why-don-t-black-holes-swallow-all-of-space

Another Snopes.com Scandal- David Mikkelson, the now suspended co-founder of the fact-checking website Snopes, has been lying to the site’s tens of millions of readers for at least 7 years!: A BuzzFeed News investigation has found that between 2015 and 2019, Mikkelson wrote and published more than 50 articles containing material plagiarized from news outlets such as the Guardian and the LA Times.
After inquiries from BuzzFeed News, Snopes conducted an internal review and confirmed that under a pseudonym, the Snopes byline, and his own name, Mikkelson wrote and published 54 articles with plagiarized material.
“It’s just a David Mikkelson alt,” Snopes’ former managing editor Brooke Binkowski explained when BuzzFeed News inquired. “He used to write about topics he knew would get him hate mail under that assumed name. Plus it made it appear he had more staff than he had.”
Between 2015 and 2019, Mikkelson regularly plagiarized reporting from other news outlets in an effort, he said, to scoop up traffic.
Mikkelson’s alias flies in the face of the site’s mission. It also highlights his penchant for trolling, something he was known for in the early 1990s, when he posted on Usenet forums under the handle “snopes.” At that time, he was so strongly associated with trolling — even tricking advice columnist Ann Landers into running several prank letters — that the practice was sometimes referred to as “snoping.”
Two other former employees also said that copying and rewriting content was part of Mikkelson’s strategy for driving traffic to Snopes’ site. One, who asked to remain anonymous, told BuzzFeed News that “taking credit for other people’s work” was “part of his model.”
Knowingly misleading readers by using a fake name is considered unethical for many news outlets — especially one that markets itself as a bulwark of truth and transparency. Far worse is plagiarism.
In 2015, Snopes.com owners Barbara and David Mikkelson were detained by police after an unrelated investigation of a Snopes.com editor lead police onto a paper trail of corruption, bribery, and fraud at the very heart of the fact-checking organization.
A Daily Mail headline from December 24, 2016: Snopes- Facebook ‘fact checker’ who will arbitrate on ‘fake news’ is accused of defrauding ($90,000) the website to pay for prostitutes – and its staff includes an escort-porn star and ‘Vice Vixen domme’.
Is this really who you want to trust for honest reporting?
