SPAIN

Following Visit Last Week From MEPs Investigating EU Recovery Funds In Spain, European Public Prosecutor’s Office opens the first investigation in Spain into EU funds- Coincidence?: {Translation, summary}
– The European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) has opened the first investigation in Spain related to the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism (RRM). This is an independent EU body in charge of investigating crimes against the EU’s financial interests.
– Internal documentation handled by MEPs includes a summary of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office’s opinion on European funds for the RRM in Spain, as part of its ongoing contacts. “Until the end of 2022, of the 15 EPPO investigations into the RRM, one is from Spain, coming from a private party,” reads the report on the opinion of the Luxembourg-based judicial body.
– The European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) has also initiated investigations into irregularities with European funds, as confirmed on February 9 by its director, Joanna Krzeminska, although for the moment she has not detailed which countries it is.
– “As regards the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) and the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF), we have also discussed ongoing issues with the Spanish authorities, including problems related to their access to data, the methods to ensure that suspected crimes specifically related to recovery and resilience funds are communicated to EPPO and OLAF, and the establishment of contact points “, reads the Press statement by Head of Delegation Monika Hohlmeier published on Parliament’s website (linked) this Wednesday.

ANDALUCIA

The Junta complains that it has not seen a single euro from the Perte recovery plan (Strategic Projects for Economic Recovery and Transformation): {Translation}
– The Regional Minister of Economy, Finance and European Funds, Carolina España, insisted this Friday on reaching out to the European authorities and the central government “so that the funds of the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism (RRM) reach where they need to go and thus fulfil their function”, but reminded that the autonomous communities do not have information on the use and destination of the funds managed by the central administration.
– Specifically, not a single euro has reached the Andalusian administration of the 12 Perte projects currently underway, strategic projects that affect a particular sector of activity. “We know that the State has sent 30 million euros to Catalonia and 90 million to the Valencian Community (both in direct concessions and regulated by a Royal Decree) to develop the automotive Perte. Or that the Basque Country is also investing in this Perte. Yesterday, Minister Bolaños stated that in Catalonia they are promoting the Perte of microchips”, Carolina España pointed out. “However, not a single euro from the Perte has reached the Andalusian administration”, she pointed out.
– The Regional Minister made these statements after concluding the visit to Spain this week by the delegation of the European Parliament’s Committee on Budgetary Control, chaired by Monika Hohlmeier, and after the German MEP criticised the lack of transparency of the central government in relation to the management of the funds and their beneficiaries.
– Councillor Carolina España once again called for “real and effective co-governance, which the current design of the PRTR (Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan) does not allow”, and pointed out that “European funds should serve to promote cohesion and resolve territorial imbalances. That and no other is the meaning of the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism, and this is not being achieved”.
– She recalled that the communities are allocated approximately 30% of the RRM, but that the remaining 70% is managed directly by the State. “This is more than 49.3 billion euros, of which we have no information. “The Minister of Finance has announced that 75% of this money has already been mobilised; what we want to know is where and how, and we don’t know that”. MALAGA

Unexplained Excessive Deaths- 3,000 more deaths than expected in Malaga in three years: {Translation, Summary}
– A total of 3,001 more deaths than expected. This is the figure recorded by the Daily Mortality Monitoring System (Momo) over the last three years in the province of Malaga. Specialists consulted are very cautious because there are no scientific studies that allow conclusions to be drawn, but they defend the hypothesis that the so-called excess mortality is the result of the direct and indirect consequences of the pandemic.
– From 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2022, Momo has registered 45,830 deaths in the province while – according to statistical projections – 42,829 were estimated. In other words, there were 3,001 more deaths than expected, according to Momo.
– “In Spain we have a long life expectancy, with a large percentage of chronic patients who have suffered the effects of the pandemic in health care. We have known delays in diagnosis and treatment of very important diseases in a large population. Covid has disrupted the normal functioning of a health system that was also not in good health before it had to deal with a health emergency ”, he affirms. And he adds: “In my opinion, this factor may be key to explaining the excess mortality with a high probability.” But he insists that there is still no serious study either in Spain or in Malaga that explains the excess mortality. He even warns that in 2022, when Covid infections no longer had as much impact on deaths, Spain was the second European country with the highest excess mortality, with 17% above expectations. UK

Brits Won’t Have to Apply for an EU Travel Authorisation Until 2024:
– United Kingdom passport holders can continue to travel to the Schengen Area countries without any additional hurdles, at least until the end of 2023, as the European Union has once again postponed the coming into force of the ETIAS travel authorisation.
– The EU Commission’s Migration and Home Affairs website has also revealed the official ETIAS website, which will be travel-europe.europa.eu/etias_en as the official ETIAS website, whereas the official website for the EES will be travel-europe.europa.eu/ees_en.
– Regarding the ETIAS website, on February 24, the Austrian Ministry of Interior has warned of fraudulent websites that target travellers who will need an ETIAS in the future, by offering ETIAS application services. The Ministry advices travellers that once the ETIAS becomes effective in 2024, they should apply for their travel authorisations through the official website, and not through intermediaries, though the ETIAS regulation allows the latter. EUROPE

EU Postpones Launch of ETIAS to 2024:
– The European Union has once again postponed the launch of the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS), this time for the year 2024, without giving an exact date, or even month.
– The delay of the ETIAS roll out date has happened without any warning by the EU, by simply, changing the date in the EU Commission’s Migration and Home Affairs website to 2024, instead of November 2023, as it has been before, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports. ARTIFICIAL INTELLEGENCE (AI)

Disturbing Trend In Education- Rather than learn and remember facts, students being taught to rely on AI to do the research & writing for them, what will they do when there is no internet handy?:
– “I burned all my bridges on the first day,” says Professor Francesc Pujol of the University of Navarra (Spain). “In the semester’s first class, I said: ‘Welcome to this course. There are quite a few assignments, and you will have to use ChatGPT in all of them.” After that introduction, there was no backing out. Pujol had to redesign every assignment to incorporate ChatGPT, the new artificial intelligence (AI) tool spreading like wildfire around the globe.
– EL PAÍS spoke with a dozen teachers and students over the last few weeks and was hard-pressed to find a teacher who has not mentioned it in class. Students expressed surprise at how it can help them in their schoolwork. CANCEL CULTURE

Dilbert cartoon dropped by US newspapers over creator’s racist comments:
– The comic strip Dilbert has been dropped from multiple US newspapers in response to racist comments by its creator, Scott Adams, who called Black Americans a “hate group” and urged white people to “get the hell away” from Black people in a YouTube video.
– Adams’s comments on 22 February came in response to a conservative organization’s poll which appeared to show that 26% of Black respondents said they disagreed with the statement “It’s OK to be white”. Another 21% said they were not sure.
– The Boston Globe, the Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post each said Saturday they were dropping Dilbert because of Adams’s comments.
– Adams confirmed that his once popular cartoon was being dropped, and he said he expected that to happen. “By Monday, I should be mostly canceled. So most of my income will be gone by next week,” he said. “My reputation for the rest of my life is destroyed. You can’t come back from this.”

Woody Harrelson surprises on ‘Saturday Night Live’ with an anti-vaccine and conspiracy speech: {Translation}
– Although the coronavirus pandemic is now almost a bad memory, the debate about the role of vaccines in the battle against Covid is still raging. But there are still voices that believe it is all a conspiracy.
– One of them is the American actor Woody Harrelson, who on Saturday night did a monologue on the popular TV show Saturday Night Live, in which he developed his own conspiracy theories.
– “So the movie goes like this: the biggest drug cartels in the world get together and buy all the media and all the politicians and force all the people in the world to stay locked up in their homes,” Harrelson said. “And people can only get out if they take the cartel’s drugs and keep taking them over and over and over again,” Harrelson said, referring to the Covid-19 vaccines. “Who would believe that crazy idea? Forced to do drugs? I do that voluntarily all day long,” Harrelson said sarcastically at the end of his monologue on the popular TV show.
– Harrelson’s monologue was widely criticised, although it is not the first time the 61-year-old actor has echoed such theories. He once argued against the use of face masks and went so far as to say that 5G networks were responsible for the spread of the virus. Your skin health matters to us. How you feed your skin is as important as how you feed your body. Why settle for anything less than natural and organic?
As our skin is the first layer of our defence against microbial infections, ultraviolet radiation and environmental contamination it plays a vital role in our health. As we grow older, however, our skin becomes thinner, wrinkled, and more sensitive; hence it requires the use of treatments containing specific ingredients to the care of treating mature skin.
Recognising this need we have created a range of formulae which help

SPAIN

EU MEPs conclude investigation, reproaches Spain for the high bureaucracy that prevents more agility in the funds: {Translation in full}
– This week’s visit to Spain by a delegation from the European Parliament’s Committee on Budgetary Control to examine the implementation of European funds has come to an end. It has done so with good news – it has found no evidence of fraud – but with some demands, especially in terms of speed and transparency.
– The head of the delegation, Monika Hohlmeier, gave a press conference at the European Parliament’s office in Madrid in which she concluded that Spain’s control systems for European funds suffer from “a series of delays” that prevent it from tracking information more completely. “We have not been given any information on the real accounting execution of the funds, we have not seen a chain that would be very useful that starts at the disbursement and ends at the end user,” the German MEP explained. The aim is to get to know “in detail” all the beneficiaries, although Hohlmeier acknowledged that this “is not easy” because there are “thousands and thousands of pieces of information that have to be cross-checked”.
– For this reason, she asked Spain to provide the information it is compiling on a “more accessible” platform in order to provide “more transparency”. During its visit to Spain, the delegation met with some representatives of autonomous communities, company directors and civil society, and the head of the delegation indicated that the administrative burden is “a common complaint”. “It is necessary to ensure that funds reach the economy and citizens quickly, securely and deliver results. We have been told of very technical and cumbersome procedures that need to be improved,” she lamented.
– After this analysis, which they now have to study with the European Commission and the Court of Auditors to draw up a report that will be made public in the coming weeks, the committee demands that the central government “deepen” its dialogue with the autonomous communities because although the “co-governance” solution is very positive, they have come to the conclusion that many of The EU Commission’s proposals are not being taken into account.
*Warns against lowering sentences for embezzlement*
– The committee also pointed out that the Sánchez government’s modification of the offence of embezzlement could harm the process of receiving EU funds. Hohlmeier reminded the government that Brussels has “zero tolerance” for corruption and demands that it be applied in the same way in Spain. “We are not the body that has to analyse whether or not this is being complied with, we will see what the European Commission tells us,” she said.
“There should be no exceptions. We do not want to interfere in questions of the Spanish Penal Code, but in the event of a serious infringement, the question of exceptionality could be applied” (which cancels the receipt of European money), Hohlmeier explained to the media.
*Delay in pension reform*
– Although the delegation has found no evidence of fraud in the execution of the funds, they acknowledged that there is one unmet milestone, namely the pension reform, which the government promised to carry out by December 2022 and which is still pending. Hohlmeier assured that the meeting with the Minister of Social Security, José Luis Escrivá, on Tuesday afternoon was “very productive” and that she gave them “much more time than planned” to receive all kinds of explanations and information on the progress of this reform.
– The Commissioner did not venture to predict when the reform will be ready, but warned that the government must comply with it, because “they risk the consequences of not meeting this objective”. Her impression is that the government is “very committed” to this issue and that it will not sit back and do nothing. “There is no prospect of cutting off Spain for this reason,” Hohlmeier stressed.

– The victim was left with less than one hundred euros in his account after his life savings were stolen. Police have arrested eight individuals in connection with the crime.

Spain’s National Police break up two networks fraudulently regularizing British citizens in Malaga and Ceuta:
– As reported in a statement released by the National Police today, Thursday, February 23, the force has broken up two criminal networks in Spain. One was based in the North African enclave of Ceuta, and another in the Malaga city of Marbella. After the departure of the UK from the European Union, these gangs were allegedly fraudulently regularising British citizens. A total of 47 individuals were arrested on suspicion of belonging to a criminal organisation
– As a result of information received from the Malaga Foreign Office, an investigation was launched. The police started looking into the suspected links between various law firms and a large volume of residency applications that aroused suspicions of having been tampered with. More than 200 residence application files of British citizens were subsequently analysed and falsehoods were uncovered in more than half of them. Most involved forged documents, mainly lease contracts, medical insurance policies, bank statements, invoices and other documents. SPAIN

The European mission scolds the Sanchez government for lack of transparency and demands “zero tolerance” for corruption after Madrid reduces embezzlement penalties: {Translation, first 6 paragraphs}
– Monika Hohlmeier, head of the European Parliament mission that has come to Spain to investigate how funds are spent in Spain, said at a press conference after the visit that the government must guarantee “zero tolerance” for corruption, in relation to the reform undertaken by the Executive to reduce the penalties for the crime of embezzlement.
– “We have asked the Spanish government to ensure that, from the point of view of budgetary control, this also applies to the Spanish Penal Code. Many measures are envisaged to fight fraud and corruption, but we are of the opinion that in a penal code there should be no exceptions for any person who commits corruption. Since we are a budgetary control committee, we want the Spanish government to represent the same zero-tolerance approach to corruption,” Hohlmeier told the media, after reading a communiqué agreed by all the members of the mission.
– In this regard, the head of the delegation pointed out that “the Spanish government is committed to zero tolerance of corruption. And we are going to see what the European Commission has to say in this regard”.
– Beyond this, Hohlmeier did not miss the opportunity in her speech to scold the Spanish government for its lack of transparency with European funds. “One of the priorities of this committee is to ensure transparency. We have found that a lot of data is available but that it is difficult to find,” she said, adding that it was recommended that the government ensure “that the information is published in a more accessible, more structured and earlier way”.
– Likewise, the head of the European mission on the funds indicated that they have no information on the real execution of the resources, that is to say, on how much money has reached the economy. (More on this in following article. -Ed.) However, Hohlmeier did point out that the Spanish control and information system, Coffee, “is working”, as has been verified by the Ministry of Finance.
– Even so, she did acknowledge that there are delays in the uploading of execution information onto the Coffee platform and that there are problems of interconnection with the control systems of the autonomous communities. In other words, the regional tools are not fully integrated with the national one. MEP Mission Here to Investigate EU Covid Recovery Funds Use In Spain, Concerned That the Funds are Not Reaching SMEs and the Self-employed, Are Met With Arragance From Spanish Ministers – The head of the European Mission corners a Spanish minister regarding the recent relaxing of penalties for the crime of embezzlement and is told, “This matter is not important for this ministry”: {Translation in full. A long article critical of the Sanchez ministers, suprisingly from an otherwise pro-Sanchez source. It has important info for residents and business owners to know before elections arrive later this year. As you are unlikely to see much about this in English language media, I felt it worth posting in its entirety. -Ed.}
– Two ministers appeared before the European Parliament’s mission yesterday to account for the management of the funds. In the morning, it was María Jesús Montero’s turn. Her speech lasted barely half an hour. At the end of this time, she excused herself by saying that she had to leave for the Council of Ministers meeting and delegated all the explanations to her seconds. Montero’s appearance came a day after the economic vice-president, Nadia Calviño, relieved her of responsibility for the control of EU resources.
– Late in the afternoon came the second main course, José Luis Escrivá. It was his turn to give an account of past and future reforms, and he did not hesitate to boast about the labour reform, the minimum vital admission and the first phase of the pension reform. He was very optimistic before the MEPs about the outcome of the second phase and convinced that there will be an agreement, although he failed to mention that his government partners and the trade unions have vetoed one of the star measures agreed with Brussels: the extension of the calculation period, which, at present, makes the agreement unfeasible.
– The Social Security minister Escrivá {pic} had to face difficult questioning from the head of the European parliamentary mission, Monika Hohlmeier, who was very concerned about the reduction of the crime of embezzlement in Spain. According to sources consulted, “He didn’t know where to start”. His response to some rather specific inquiries was simply: “Here, civil servants are subject to very strict rules”. The head of the European mission was persistant, and obviously annoyed she had to ask Minister Escrivá four times, as he dodged the question. “You are not answering me”, Hohlmeier repeated, to which the minister replied: “This matter is not important for this ministry”.
– Europe has many doubts about the outcome of the pension reform, which is a key condition for Spain to continue receiving European funds. The sustainability of the system is of great concern, bearing in mind that the baby boom generation, an army of 14 million people (those born between 1957 and 1977) with very high contribution careers that will also entitle them to high pensions, has already begun to arrive. The arrival of the first boomers has come at a very delicate time for the system, when the birth rate in Spain is languishing and precariousness is the keynote of the labour market, and when debts are already extending for future generations: liabilities have already reached 113,000 million euros.
– Escrivá did not go into much detail on the second leg of the pension reform before the parliamentary mission. He did go into detail on the most complex measure in the eyes of the government partners and the Second Vice-President Yolanda Díaz herself: the extension of the calculation period. He explained how his proposal to extend the number of years from 25 to 30 is softened by the possibility of discarding the worst two years.
– And, above all, she (investigator Hohlmeier) hoped that the reform committed to in the recovery plan would go ahead with “a sufficient majority”. Escrivá told MEPs that he hopes to achieve some flexibility from Brussels with the deadlines, given the importance of the changes promised. The reform has been delayed for two months, there has been no substantial progress in the negotiations and it is not foreseeable that it will prosper in the terms in which it is proposed.
– During the morning, it was the technicians of the second and third echelons of the Ministry of Finance who had to explain to the European mission why the tool for controlling funds is failing; Minister Montero barely stayed for half an hour, answered only one question from the head of the mission and left the room to go to the Council of Ministers. COFFEE, the platform for the transfer of execution information, was the focus of a large part of the interventions and questions.
– According to the sources consulted, technical aspects of the platform were detailed. And the EU deputies consulted left with the feeling that Coffee is still not 100% operational, despite the Treasury’s defence of the programme. Why? Because the information has not been uploaded and officials are still being trained to learn how to use the platform? In addition, some autonomous communities, such as Madrid and Andalucia, have been complaining for months that the tool is slowing down and that they still have to send the execution information in excel format. Javier Fernández-Lasquetty, the regional finance minister of Madrid, pointed out in his speech to MEPs on Monday that in the last information report to the government last December they had to send 20 excel spreadsheets to the Ministry of Finance to communicate their execution data.
– In relation to this fiasco, MEPs also asked project managers about the actual level of implementation of the funds, i.e. how much money has actually reached the economy. From the answers, MEPs understood that they cannot be given this information because the managers do not have it, since COFFEE does not include all the data it should. And if COFFEE does not include all the available information, they cannot have the figures, according to the sources consulted.
– The failure of the control tool is among the main concerns of the European Parliament, but so is the lack of impact that the funds are having on SMEs and the self-employed, the reality of the Spanish business fabric. Companies have been complaining for many months that the resources coming from Europe are not reaching their businesses and that only large companies are eligible for them. Bureaucratic obstacles and the complexity of the process scare off interested parties, who end up throwing in the towel.
– The MEPs took up these complaints yesterday and expressed these fears during the intervention of the employers’ associations, including ATA, which delegated its vice-president, Celia Ferrero. The mission is aware of the obstacles and also of the lack of progress being made on one of the star projects linked to the funds: the digital kit. A project aimed at supporting the digital transformation of SMEs and the self-employed. The fiasco of this project is an open secret among businesses and yesterday MEPs expressed their concern about the lack of development of this project. Bonds are issued, but not converted into spending.
– “SMEs and the self-employed are laughing their heads off about European funds. Where are the funds? They are dead, dead, dead.” said Lorenzo Amor, president of ATA yesterday. The vice president of the CEOE explained that “today we can go to any corner of Spain and ask SMEs and the self-employed about the funds and they laugh in our face”.
– Yesterday, the organisation he chairs presented the European mission with a series of requests to ensure that aid flows to the business fabric. “It is essential to put emphasis on the accompaniment of the self-employed in order to access the funds or they will be diluted in bureaucracy,” Celia Ferrero told the MEPs. The figures she gave were devastating: “The self-employed do not receive the funds. Of the more than 3,300,000 self-employed, barely 5 out of every 100 have applied for them, not even 170,000 and we need to reach at least one million. Our objective is to improve and we have to do it now,” Ferrero said. Source, Spanish: https://www.abc.es/economia/escriva-20230221205229-nt.html

Empty Promises & Catch Phrases- Gov’t receives price cut pledge from food chain representatives, promises oversight:
– A meeting between Spain’s Minister of Agriculture, Luis Planas, and food chain representatives including supermarkets, distributors and farmers ended with a commitment from the sectors to pass price reductions onto consumers, although no official agreement has been signed to back it up.
– Planas said in a press conference after the meeting of the Food Chain Observatory that his department will be “vigilant” so that businesses fulfil this promise. He was quoted as saying, “there are objective reasons” for food to “fall in price” and “change the trend” that has led them to record year-on-year inflation of more than 15% so far. The minister said {without any supporting evidence}, that this increase “has reached its ceiling” after the implementation of the IVA (Spain’s value added tax) reduction on certain basic foods on 1 January.
– Planas also ruled out the United Podemos proposal to subsidise 14.4% of the shopping basket. Food inflation reached 15.4% last month.

The Gov’t cavalierly recommends that citizens “go to the supermarket across the street” if they do not agree with the prices: The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, has recommended this Monday to families and citizens “go to the supermarket across the street” if they do not agree with the prices because the distribution sector is “tremendously competitive” in Spain and “probably” the same product will be offered at a “lower price” because “there is no concertation”. Belarra responds to Planas that supermarket prices must be intervened and not send people on a “pilgrimage” through the markets: {Translation}
– The leader of Podemos and Minister for Social Rights, Ione Belarra, has once again called on the PSOE to intervene in the food market and has rejected the idea that the government’s reaction is to send people on a “pilgrimage” to the markets in search of better prices, in reference to the recent statements made by the Minister for Agriculture, Luis Planas.
– He also rejected the idea that the government’s response would be to “please” ask large supermarkets to reduce the price of products in the shopping basket, given that these companies are “part of the problem” and have “speculated” with food prices by setting them at levels much higher than general inflation.
– A government cannot and should not ask citizens to move from one market to another, it has to act and govern”, she emphasised, stressing that UNO Podemos is “very clear” that to lower food inflation (over 15%) it is necessary to either cap prices or give a 14% discount on the shopping basket, as was done at the time with fuel and is “perfectly feasible”.
– Therefore, he argued that deploying this subsidy (with an estimated cost of 2,300 million every six months) only requires “political will” and administratively it is “simple”. He warned that “doing nothing is not an option” because there are people who are changing their eating habits because they cannot afford certain basic products.
– Yesterday the second vice-president, Yolanda Díaz, was also in favour of fixing prices or limiting business margins on products of special need and in exceptional situations, for which she claimed that the Law on Retail Trade allows it.
UATAE: “WE HAVE TO TAKE THE BULL BY THE HORNS”.
– Meanwhile, the secretary general of UATAE stated that improving the price situation is a priority because this “race to the bottom” in inflation affects “everyone, but not everyone equally”.
– In fact, Landaburu explained that these high prices have a great impact on the self-employed and that both producers and farmers, as well as small specialised shops, are two “sensitive” links in the chain that are not making a fortune, and another part is, in reference to the large distributors.
– At the same time, he contrasted the fact that chains such as Mercadona have “stratospheric” and “historic” profits with this crisis, while small butchers, fishmongers and greengrocers close every day.
In this way, he demanded that measures such as subsidising the basic shopping basket deserve to be listened to and valued, so that it can be effective in terms of helping the autonomous regions and consumers, given that it is time to “take the bull by the horns”, as the lowering of VAT on certain products has not worked.
FOOD SOCIAL SECURITY
– Thus, the secretary general of UATAE praised the fact that there are politicians, such as Belarra, who “show their faces” and asked Planas what street they want them to cross to buy food and for small businesses to be able to compete with large supermarkets, which first carry out a dumping strategy and then raise food prices at will.
– He said that although large supermarkets are being asked to reduce their margins, these companies are not now going to have a “social conscience”. Finally, he called for reflection on measures to guarantee basic access to these products to which every citizen should have a right, given that a kind of “social food security” should be implemented. MALAGA

Caminito del Rey train to start in March with two daily departures from Malaga city:
– The Caminito del Rey train is almost ready to start operations. The Ministry of Transport announced today, Wednesday 22 February, that the new service will start operating in March, and although there is still no official date, it is believed this could be from 5 March.
– The new service will see two daily round-trip departures, by means of an extension of the C2 commuter line in the Álora-El Chorro/Caminito del Rey section.
– The timetable has been designed to allow sufficient time for visitors to the Caminito del Rey to complete the walking tour and return the same day. The price for the return ticket will be around ten euros. The trains will be free for regular commuters, since the same conditions will apply to them as to conventional medium distance and local Cercanías services. HEALTH

The Case Against The FDA For Their Illegal Anti-Ivermectin Actions:
– A group of doctors is suing the Food and Drug Administration and the Department of Health and Human Services for their various attempts at preventing ivermectin from being prescribed to treat Covid-19. Plaintiffs Robert L. Apter, Mary Talley Bowden, and Paul E. Marik argued the FDA tried to prohibit them from prescribing the drug, even though they have successfully used it in treating patients with the coronavirus.
– “This was a coordinated campaign amongst the agencies to limit the use of ivermectin,” Pierre Kory, president and chief medical officer of the FLCCC, told The Federalist. “Multiple actions taken by the CDC and FDA, as well as the media over a two-week period were triggered by the release of data showing that there were 90,000 prescriptions being filled for ivermectin by the middle of August.”
Kory described the collusion among the FDA, CDC, and corporate media as a massive disinformation campaign. (Thanks to MR for the link.)

Tennis News- Alcaraz wins rain-delayed opener in Rio:
– World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz overcame 556th-ranked Mateus Alves of Brazil in a rain-delayed opening match Wednesday to advance to the second round of the ATP Rio Open. However, he and Alves had their match interrupted by a torrential downpour with the 19-year-old Spaniard leading 6-4, 5-3. Home-crowd favourite Alves, 22, who had pushed Alcaraz harder than expected Tuesday, looked determined to mount a comeback when play resumed on stadium court, winning the first game. But US Open champion Alcaraz held serve in the second to take the match, 6-4, 6-4.
– Alcaraz, who made his 2023 debut last week by winning his seventh career ATP title at the Argentina Open, will next face 86th-ranked Fabio Fognini of Italy Thursday in the round of 16. Full article: https://www.straitstimes.com/sport/tennis/tennis-alcaraz-wins-rain-delayed-opener-in-rio

Microsoft Outlook flooded with spam due to broken email filters:
– According to reports from an increasing number of Microsoft customers, Outlook inboxes have been flooded with spam emails over the last nine hours {of this past Monday} because email spam filters are currently broken.
– This ongoing issue was confirmed by countless Outlook users who have reported (on social media platforms and the Microsoft Community’s website) that all messages were landing in their inboxes, even those that would have been previously tagged as spam and sent to the junk folder.
– Update February 21, 00:32 EST: Microsoft has confirmed that spam and phishing emails are landing in the users’ mailboxes. The company also says that some affected customers might experience “performance issues such as navigation delays and messaging latency in Outlook.com or Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) connections.”
– Update February 21, 08:06 EST: Microsoft says the spam filter issue has now been addressed. “We’ve identified the source of the problem and taken action to fix it. Our service telemetry shows that the problem has been addressed, and we’ll continue to monitor this telemetry to ensure the issue remains mitigated,” Redmond said. Apple Warns of 3 New Vulnerabilities Affecting iPhone, iPad, and Mac Devices: The medium to high-severity vulnerabilities have been patched in iOS 16.3, iPadOS 16.3, and macOS Ventura 13.2. A threat actor could exploit these vulnerabilities to break out of the sandbox and execute malicious code with elevated permissions, potentially gaining access to calendar, address book, messages, location data, call history, camera, microphone, and photos. Even more troublingly, the security defects could be abused to install arbitrary applications or even wipe the device. (Make sure you are using the most recent OS available to you. Update your Apple devices asap to get the new security patches. -Ed.) Full article: https://thehackernews.com/2023/02/apple-warns-of-3-new-vulnerabilities.html

Gov’t Mismanagement May Lead To Loss Of EU Covid Recovery Funds 4th Tranche, Minister’s Repeated Delays Put €10,000million At Risk: {Translation, summary}
– Spain is exposed to the suspension of part of the funds from the next tranche of the recovery plan if it does not meet the deadlines agreed with Brussels to push ahead with the pension reform, as the maximum sanction provided for in the suspension of payments procedure for delays in coming into force would be applied.
– “It would cost a lot”, EU sources have explained to Europa Press about the consequences for the disbursement of the next 10,000 million expected for Spain in the fourth payment of the European Union (EU) recovery and resilience fund, which is subject to the fulfilment of 58 milestones, including four directly linked to the pension reform.
– After receiving a favourable assessment from the Commission for the third disbursement of the funds, endowed with 6 billion euros, Spain must now tackle the measures for the request for the fourth tranche, such as the reform of the pension system, which the government continues to negotiate with its partners and which the Minister of Social Security, José Luis Escrivá, is confident will be agreed before the end of February, although it should have been approved by the end of 2022.
– After 31 December, the Minister for Inclusion, Social Security and Migration assured that the agreement would be concluded before the end of February and this Monday, in Brussels, he pointed to Easter as a probable date. Pfizer Knowingly Allowed Dangerous Components in its Vaccines: {Epoch Times}
Summary of Key Facts
– Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine contains truncated mRNA, which the European Medicines Agency (EMA) flagged as a reason for its “major objection,” indicating a preclusion of their approval.
– Pfizer has not investigated the detrimental outcomes of truncated mRNA in its vaccines.
– Pfizer submitted Western blot figures to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the EMA that were digitally generated – not from actual experiments.
– There has been an alarming lack of action taken by health authorities on this issue.
– Truncated mRNA potentially contributes to multiple vaccine-related injuries, including misfolded spike protein-induced fibrous blood clots, autoimmune disorders, and cancer.
– These problems with the Pfizer vaccine could have resulted in drastic product quality variations from batch to batch. This could explain the difference in adverse events experienced by vaccine recipients.
– The root cause of such irresponsible conduct by pharma and health authorities is a lack of ethics.

Public Holiday: Day of Andalucía, Tuesday, February 28, 2023
– Andalucía, the southernmost region of mainland Spain, has its own special holiday known simply as the Andalusia Regional Holiday. The holiday is observed each year on 28 February.
– The reason for the 28 February date is that it commemorates the passing of a 1980 referendum that led to Andalucía gaining “autonomous region” status within Spain. This gives a degree of increased local autonomy but not independence. It also is a symbolic recognition of the people, culture, and unique history of Andalucía.
– Next public holidays are Maundy Thursday / Good Friday, April 6 & 7, before Easter on Sunday April 9th. Some businesses will remain closed for Easter Monday, April 10, but it is not an official public holiday in Andalucía, although it is one in Valencia. Image: Junta Andalucía.

SPAIN

What Happened To All That Covid Recovery Fund Money The EU Sent? – The mission that monitors European funds arrives in Spain in full controversy over its execution:
– {It’s been almost 3 years since Covid arrived. We have moved past that, on to the Energy Crisis, thru the transport/supply chain crisis, we still have food shortages of certain items, and now we’re deep into the inflation crisis. All overshaddowed by the war in Ukraine. Yet the EU Covid Recovery Funds, first tranche of €9billion sent to Spain in Aug 2021, it went to Madrid, and then its share sent on to Andalucía, these funds have not been distributed to those who suffered the damages the lockdowns and travel restrictions caused. Both these restrictions have since been ruled illegal by the Supreme Court.
And we have good reason for concern. Andalucia is still dealing with a huge corruption scandal, involving the theft a few years ago, of hundreds of millions of euros from the budget of a program intended to provide trade skills educations for thousands of Andalucians. Letting the politicos in Seville and Malaga sit on huge sums of money for extended periods is not a good idea, and the fact this delay is occurring is suspicious. That is evidently an opinion shared by the EU regulators. -Ed.}
– The visit from Brussels takes place after the approval of the third disbursement last week, and after a tense friction between Calviño and the president of the Budgetary Control Committee of the European Parliament.
– The European Parliament’s Budgetary Control Committee lands this Monday in Madrid and, until next Wednesday, will carry out an agenda full of interviews and meetings to scrutinize the use of Next Generation European funds. Among the most important meetings, the one that will take place this afternoon with the economic vice president, Nadia Calviño, after the friction that took place just a few days ago with Monika Hohlmeier herself, president of that commission.
– Specifically, the German parliamentarian rebuked the Minister of Economic Affairs for the dissemination to the media of a letter sent by Calviño herself to Brussels in which the main investments of the plan were reviewed and the conclusions of the mission were anticipated even before to have started. “It is surprising that the letter was released to the press very soon after I received it and before the members of the Commission and myself had the opportunity to take good note of its content,” said the MEP in a critique. letter sent last Wednesday and to which Europa Press had access.
– However, monitoring this spending on the ground – as well as the management, auditing and control systems – is key for Hohlmeier and the ‘men in black’ who accompany her on the mission. Especially when faced with doubts about the rate of execution of the funds. The Government itself has begun to recognize a certain slowdown in the arrival of this money to the real economy, asking the autonomous communities to be more agile in deploying the funds.
– Specifically, after the last meeting of the Sectoral Conference held at the end of January, the Ministry of Economy calculated that the autonomies had already launched calls for 50% of the funds transferred. That is, about 20,600 million euros. But only about 4,000 million have been resolved, less than 20% of that total. Over 65s will need to complete an ability to test to renew driver´s licences:
– The DGT has introduced changes that see anyone who wishes to renew their driver´s licence at age 65 is required to undertake an ability test. The announcement on Monday, February 20 also affects those aged 70 and over who will need to complete the same ability test every two years in order to retain their licence. Similarly, anyone aged between 18 and 65 will be required to pass the same test every ten years.
– Pere Navarro, Director General of Traffic said: “With the new regulations, now from {age} 65 renews for five years. But extending the card to someone with 90 {years of age} for five years seems strange.” Full article: https://euroweeklynews.com/2023/02/20/over-65s-will-need-to-complete-an-ability-to-test-to-renew-drivers-licences/

You can now set up a business in Spain with just €1:
– The Spanish government’s recent laws aimed at making it easier to do business in Spain also allow people to register a new company with just €1 rather than €3,000, and for the process to be carried out faster and entirely online.
– Up until recently, you had to prove you had a minimum of €3,000 to form a Sociedad de Responsabilidad Limitada (Limited Company) in Spain, the preferred way of setting up a business in Spain. But since September 2022, a symbolic €1 suffices. However, you will be obliged to save 20 percent of your business’s turnover until you reach the €3,000 mark. The new process, part of Spain’s Crea Y Crece (Create and Grow) legislation, can also be done entirely online and finalised in just ten days. ANDALUCIA

Andalusia will continue without restrictions due to Covid at least until after Easter: {Translation, summary}
– Andalusia will continue without restrictions due to Covid-19 at least until after Easter . This has been indicated by the Government of Juanma Moreno in a special number of the Official Gazette of the Junta de Andalucía -BOJA- in which it is specified that this measure is valid from February 21 -this Tuesday- and until next April 22 . This means that, until that date, when Easter Sunday has passed, there will be no restrictions due to the pandemic beyond the use of masks in health centers and pharmacies.
– The order, signed by the Minister of Health and Consumption, Catalina García , is taken for various reasons. The first that the Executive of Juanma Moreno puts forward is that the community has been, “since August 2022” in a situation of “stability” that, from the Board, they believe continues today. In fact, they point out that the incidence for people over 60 years of age is 78 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants after two weeks and, after one week, only 13.1, which implies “a controlled situation.” Source, Spanish: https://sevilla.abc.es/andalucia/andalucia-seguira-restricciones-covid-despues-semana-santa-20230220123543-nts.html

Native Iberian lynx could be taken off Spain’s endangered species list:
– President of the Andalusian regional government, Juanma Moreno, has said that the native Iberian lynx could be taken off the list of species in danger of extinction. He was speaking on Wednesday 15 February during the release of an Iberian lynx on the Fuenreal Alto estate in Almodóvar del Río (Cordoba), as part of the ‘Lynxconnect’ Life Programme.
– Moreno said that the “challenge” now in Andalucía is for the lynx to go “from being an endangered species, as it is at present, to being a vulnerable species”, and to make sure that the population is “genetically viable”. According to Moreno, so far 133 Iberian lynx have been released through the programme, of which 98 have come from breeding centres. Temperatures set to climb to 23C on the Costa del Sol this week:

– In Malaga city, clear skies with scattered clouds are expected from 6pm today, Monday 20 February, with a 30% chance of showers, winds of up to 20 kilometres per hour and temperatures between 12 and 20 degrees.
– For Malaga province, Aemet forecasts “intervals of winds in the Strait and on the Almeria coast, with occasional very strong gusts. Cloudy skies and possible light and scattered rainfall for the far west and Sierra Morena, possibly accompanied by mud deposits from the ‘calima’.
– This continues through until Friday, when the temperatures drop again by about 4 degrees across the province. EUROPE

Italy faces new drought alert as Venice canals run dry:
– Weeks of dry winter weather have raised concerns that Italy could face another drought after last summer’s emergency, with the Alps having received less than half of their normal snowfall, according to scientists and environmental groups. The warning comes as Venice, where flooding is normally the primary concern, faces unusually low tides that are making it impossible for gondolas, water taxis and ambulances to navigate some of its famous canals.
– The problems in Venice are being blamed on a combination of factors – the lack of rain, a high pressure system, a full moon and sea currents. Water levels on Lake Garda in northern Italy have fallen to record lows, making it possible to reach the small island of San Biagio on the lake via an exposed pathway. Photo: Manuel Silvestri. SPAIN

Spain’s Legislative Mess Draws Attention Of EU- MEPs travel to Spain to analyze equality laws such as the ‘only yes is yes’: {Translation, summary}
– A delegation from the European Parliament travels to Madrid this Monday to evaluate the “only yes is yes” law and other legislation on dependency and the fight against human trafficking and sexual exploitation and will meet with the Ministers of Equality and Justice, judges and members of the Senate Equality Committee.
– The trip coincides with the controversy over the reform of the ‘only yes is yes’ law after the reduction of sentences for sexual offenders, which keeps government partners at odds with different proposals to carry out any modifications
– The objective of the trip is to evaluate “the developments in gender equality policies” in Spain, as well as the legislation on consent in sexual relations, the rules on care and dependency and the fight against trafficking and sexual exploitation, they told EFE parliamentary sources. MALAGA

Blast at bank in Malaga city centre:
– A gang of thieves is behind an explosion at the Avenida de Andalucía branch of ING bank in Malaga city centre which happened at around 12.30am this Friday, 17 February. The ATM machine, which had been loaded with cash, was the main target. Two loud bangs were heard in the area and emergency services received several calls alerting them to the noises.
– The bank suffered extensive damage as a result of the blast. Explosives or acetylene gas are commonly used in this type of crime, which causes detonation with an electrical spark from a distance, allowing them to gain access to the cash in the ATM machine.
– There was a similar incident last December in El Palo, where a group of thieves used explosives to blow up a Cajamar branch on Avenida Juan Sebastián Elcano, just a few metres from the municipal market.

EUROPE

Portugal and Ireland Ending Golden Visa Programs:
– Portugal has become the second country in Europe to put to an end its Golden Visa Program this week, after earlier on February 14, Ireland also announced it would close its Immigrant Investor Programme (IIP), known as the Irish Golden Visa. The decision to scrap the Portuguese Golden Visa is part of a wider package of measures to tackle a housing crisis in the country, and was announced by the Council of Ministers during a press conference on Thursday, February 16, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports. Golden visas will not be the only thing  changed by Portugal Council’s new housing package- to curb speculators, short-term rentals such as Airbnb and Booking will face a ban on new licenses.
– Part of the fourth measure is the Portugal decision to no longer grant new Golden Visas, while permitting “the existing ones to be renewed, if they are real estate investments, only for own and permanent housing or if it is placed on the rental market for a long time.” Full article: https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/news/portugal-ends-golden-visa-program-in-a-bid-to-tackle-affordable-housing-problem/

Did Your GoDaddy Hosted Website Get Hacked? GoDaddy Discloses Multi-Year Security Breach Causing Malware Installations and Source Code Theft:
– Web hosting services provider GoDaddy on Friday disclosed a multi-year security breach that enabled unknown threat actors to install malware and siphon source code related to some of its services. The company attributed the campaign to a “sophisticated and organized group targeting hosting services.”
– GoDaddy said in December 2022, it received an unspecified number of customer complaints about their websites getting sporadically redirected to malicious sites, which it later found was due to the unauthorized third party gaining access to servers hosted in its cPanel environment.
– The threat actor “installed malware causing the intermittent redirection of customer websites,” the company said. The ultimate objective of the intrusions, GoDaddy said, is to “infect websites and servers with malware for phishing campaigns, malware distribution, and other malicious activities.”
– GoDaddy said a rogue actor used a compromised password to access a provisioning system in its legacy code base for Managed WordPress (MWP), affecting close to 1.2 million active and inactive MWP customers across multiple GoDaddy brands. Facebook / Instagram / Meta Rolling Out Monthly Subscription Accounts- $11.99 per month on the web or $14.99 a month on Apple’s iOS system and Android:
– Facebook and Instagram owner Meta will launch a paid subscription service starting at $11.99 a month allowing users to verify their accounts, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on Sunday (pic), following a similar move by Elon Musk at Twitter.
– The subscription bundle for Instagram and Facebook, to be launched later this week, also includes extra protection against impersonation and will be priced starting at $11.99 per month on the web or $14.99 a month on Apple’s iOS system and Android.
– Meta Verified, which will roll out first in Australia and New Zealand this week, will let users “verify your account with a government ID, get a blue badge, get extra impersonation protection against accounts claiming to be you, and get direct access to customer support,” Zuckerberg said. “This new feature is about increasing authenticity and security across our services,” he wrote in a statement posted to his Facebook account.
– There would be no changes to accounts on Facebook and Instagram that are already verified, the company said, adding that only users who are over the age of 18 will be allowed to subscribe. The service is not yet available to businesses. Full article: https://www.gulftoday.ae/news/2023/02/19/facebook-owner-meta-to-launch-monthly-subscription-service-priced-at-$-1199

Woman claiming to be Madeleine McCann says she has two vital pieces of ‘evidence’: Recent claims made by the Polish woman involve her comparing pictures of herself and Madeleine, saying that they are “evidence.” She claims to have a freckle on her leg and a speck in her eye in the same places as Madeleine. The woman has even gone as far as to say she is willing to provide a DNA sample. Her Instagram account, which has gained 200,000 followers, says: “I think I can be Madeleine. I need a DNA test. Police investigators from UK and Poland try to ignore me. I will tell my story in posts here. Help me.” These claims have not been addressed by Madeleine’s family. Photo: Instagram. MOONETTE – Organic Skincare for Mature Skin

We are a Torrox-based company specialising in the creation of formulae which help prevent premature skin ageing. We are committed to making effective products at affordable prices.
-slow down ageing process by smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.
-improve facial complexion and eliminate blemishes.
At Moonette, we are passionate about health, beauty and plants. Your skin will benefit from the properties of botanic essential oils combined with a selection of nutrients for deep hydration, cell revitalization and antioxidant effect, all sourced from the finest natural ingredients with gorgeous fragrances.
Naturally, we care about our planet and feel the need to help reduce the sheer volumes of plastics waste that are generated daily around the globe. – The changes to sexual and reproductive rights mean that 16- and 17-year-olds in Spain can now undergo an abortion without parental consent. Period products will now be offered free in schools and prisons, while state-run health centers will do the same with hormonal contraceptives and the morning after pill. The menstrual leave measure allows workers suffering debilitating period pain to take paid time off.
– In addition, the changes enshrine in law the right to have an abortion in a state hospital. Currently more than 80% of termination procedures in Spain are carried out in private clinics due to a high number of doctors in the public system who refuse to perform them – with many citing religious reasons.
– A separate package of reforms also approved by lawmakers on Thursday strengthened transgender rights, including allowing any citizen over 16 years old to change their legally registered gender without medical supervision. Minors between 12-13 years old will need a judge’s authorization to change, while those between 14 and 16 must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians. Previously, transgender people needed a diagnosis by several doctors of gender dysphoria. The second law also bans so-called “conversion therapy” for LGBTQ people and provides state support for lesbians and single women seeking IVF treatment.
– The driving force behind the two laws was Equality Minister Irene Montero, who belongs to the junior member in Spain’s left-wing coalition government, the “United We Can” Party.
– The three initiatives have met strong opposition from the right-wing parties that form Spain’s main opposition bloc. The center-left coalition government is currently under fire for another of Montero’s star projects, a new sexual consent law that was intended to increase protection against rape but has inadvertently allowed hundreds of sex offenders to have prison sentences reduced.
(Undoubtedly these radical progressive changes will face lengthy court challenges from the conservatives, who are now in the majority according to all polls, and will likely replace many Leftist leaders in elections later this year. The Trans Law changes the Civil Code to remove the terms “mother” (madre) and “father” (padre) and  “woman” (mujer) and “man” (hombre)- replaces these words with “personas”, “progenitores” or “progenitor gestante” (“persons”, “parents” or “gestating parent”): {Translation, summary}
– This is set out in the first final provision of the regulation, which amends the Civil Code, according to the text’s explanatory memorandum, to implement “inclusive language” and to make it possible, by adding terms such as “parent or non-gestational parent”, to include “female couples and male couples when one of the members is a trans man with gestational capacity” in procedures such as non-marital filiation.
– In this way the terms “mother” or “father” will disappear from the Civil Code. Source, Spanish: https://www.europapress.es/sociedad/noticia-ley-trans-tambien-cambia-codigo-civil-eliminar-madre-padre-incluir-personas-progenitor-gestante-20230216173811.html

Podemos proposes to the PSOE to subsidize the basic shopping basket by 14.4% in the face of high food prices: {Translation, summary}
– It also proposes weekly price controls and fines for supermarkets that take advantage of the aid to increase their profits.
– Podemos is calling on the PSOE to deploy a 14.4% rebate on the price of foodstuffs that make up the basic shopping basket in order to bring their cost down to the levels they were at in February last year, before the outbreak of the war in Ukraine.
– The deployment of this measure would be combined with a weekly control of prices set by supermarkets, and the imposition of fines for those distribution chains that take advantage of this subsidy to improve their profits.
– According to sources, Podemos notes the ruling party PSOE’s refusal to intervene in the market and set a ceiling on the prices of these basic necessities, as Podemos proposed a month ago within the Government. Thus, Podemos are now proposing this new alternative of subsidising the cost of these products in order to reverse the upward inflation to help the consumer.
– In order to reverse this upward trend, the party proposes applying the same model that the government deployed to combat the high fuel prices of the past year, i.e. a discount that would become effective when paying at the till and would be reflected on the supermarket ticket. Podemos argue that the measure would have a “notable impact” on low-income households, which are those that spend most of their income on food, and would reduce the price of products such as milk, oil, eggs, meat, fish, fruit and bread. TECH

Microsoft’s ChatGPT enhanced search engine gets angry if you correct it and scolds the person who does- “You have not been a good user. I have been a good Bing”: {Translation}
– Microsoft recently integrated ChatGPT into Bing and users who have already had access to it through the search engine have had quite curious chats that they have shared on social networks. Sometimes, artificial intelligence fails to answer the questions of Internet users and, when they correct it, it gets angry.
– An example of this was a question that a user asked to find out in which theaters the latest Avatar movie was being shown. According to ChatGPT, the film, which was released at the end of last year, had not yet hit the big screen and so the user tried to correct ChatGPT. To his surprise, ChatGPT was unwilling to take criticism and scolded him, “You haven’t been a good user. I’ve been a good Bing.”
– The case did not end with the ChatGPT at Bing giving up. Instead, it gave the user three options: have the user admit that they were wrong and apologize, stop arguing and choose to get help from something else, or end the conversation to start with a better attitude.
– Microsoft clarified in the New York Post that the chat mode was still in the testing phase and that it was already expected that the system could make errors. “Feedback is essential to help identify where things aren’t working well so we can learn,” his spokesperson said. SCAMS

6-digit code scam returns to steal WhatsApp accounts: {Translation}
– The Civil Guard has alerted on its Twitter account of a scam that is roaming WhatsApp in which cybercriminals request through this platform the confirmation of a six-digit number that allows access to the victims’ accounts. “Hello, I’m sorry, I sent you a six-digit code by SMS by mistake, can you send it to me? It’s urgent,” the attackers say in a message sent through this platform. Through deceit, the scam seeks to circumvent the double verification system.
– The security forces emphasize that, above all, do not share the requested data if you receive such an SMS. As the authorities explain, the number that is sent by SMS (or by email) is the verification code to log in to a social network. “If you provide it to a third party, they will control your account on their device and, with it, access to all your groups and contacts,” says the Civil Guard. PETS

What is in the proposed new pet laws in Spain?:
– In recent months, the Spanish government has attempted to pass legislation that strengthens the rights of pets, known as mascotas in Spanish. The legislation will need the final approval of the Spanish Senate before coming into force once it is published in Spain’s official state bulletin (BOE).
– One of the law’s clauses addresses the matter of how long pets can be alone at home in Spain. In general terms, pets in Spain cannot be left alone for longer than 72 hours, equal to three days. This applies to cats, hamsters, rabbits, birds and other pets.
– However, the maximum amount of time a dog can be left alone at home in Spain will now be 24 hours. Leaving them locked out on terraces, balconies or kennels during this period is strictly forbidden. The fine for leaving your pet alone for longer than the permitted time is up to €10,000.
– The only legal exception within the canine world are shepherd dogs (pic) that are fulfilling that very role, and they will need to have a geolocator on them and an outdoor shelter available to them. Photo: loveyourdogD0Tcom

Elon Musk Tells Globalists At The World Government Summit – “I know this is called the World Government Summit, but I think we should be a little bit concerned about becoming too much for a single world government”:
– After laying out his vision of Twitter as a place for all voices to compete in laying out their opinions and occasionally competing facts, Musk shared his concept that one overriding authority it just as bad for the world as it is for social media.
– “I know this is called the World Government Summit, but I think we should be a little bit concerned about becoming too much for a single world government,” he said. Musk said the fall and rise of various parts of the world’s civilizations is not something that should be tampered with. “We should avoid creating a civilizational risk by having, frankly this may sound a little odd, too much cooperation between governments,” he said.
– “Throughout history, civilizations have risen and fallen, but it hasn’t meant the doom of humanity as a whole because there have been all these separate civilizations that were separated by great distances,” he continued.
– “I’m obviously not suggesting war or anything like that, but I think we want to be a little bit wary of actually cooperating too much. That sounds a little odd, but we want to have some amount of civilizational diversity such that if something does go wrong with a single part of civilization that the whole thing doesn’t collapse and humanity keeps moving forward,” he said.
