– Andalucía, the southernmost region of mainland Spain, has its own special holiday known simply as the Andalusia Regional Holiday. The holiday is observed each year on 28 February.
– Next public holidays following this are Maundy Thursday / Good Friday, April 6 & 7, before Easter on Sunday April 9th. Some businesses will remain closed for Easter Monday, April 10, but it is not an official public holiday in Andalucía, although it is one in Valencia. Image: Junta Andalucía.

“IV Villa de Comares Classic”: Saturday, February 25.
– In this edition 52 historical vehicles will participate. This event is reserved for vehicles over 25 years old and to be held on roads open to traffic and with average speeds of no more than 50 kilometres per hour, respecting the traffic regulations. As always there is a great variety of vehicles, including minis, seat 600s, VW Beetles, R8s, Alfa Romeo, etc.
– The event is divided into two sections, the first starting at 10:45 from Comares itself, travelling through the northern part of the Axarquia, Colmenar, Riogordo, Alfarnatejo for a total of 90 kilometres, at the end of which we will return to Comares for lunch.
After lunch, the second section starts at 15:45 hours. This is longer than the morning section with 125 kilometres, “along the beautiful roads of the eastern part of the Axarquía, reaching the municipalities of Vélez-Málaga, Competa, Archez, Sayalonga, as well as a total of 17 municipalities. The race finishes at 19:15 hours again in Comares “where we will present the souvenirs and trophies with an aperitif in the town hall of the Town Hall”.

II Winelovers Alpujarra- Cádiar, Granada: February 25 to 28
Twelve wineries and 20 growers will participate in the tasting of local wines, with denomination of origin, organic and natural; there will also be guided tours, an artisan market and hiking trails to enjoy a walk through the landscapes of almond trees.
On Saturday the 25th, the Sendero del Agua route, the local agro-artisan market and wine tasting from the area’s wineries are scheduled.
On Sunday there will be a guided visit to the history of Cádiar , tasting of harvesters and popular food; on Monday there will be a guided visit to local wineries and on Tuesday 28, the 8.5-kilometre Sendero Flor de Almendro route and tasting of cured meats and local products, among other activities. – Thursday 30th March – Excursion to Loja. Please come and join us to visit the town of Loja which is situated at the western limit of the province of Granada and is surrounded by the so-called Sierra de Loja. There will be a breakfast/ coffee stop of 30 minutes and you will arrive in Loja at approximately 10.30, where there will be a 2-hour guided tour in English visiting the Santa Clara Convent, Water Museum and the Church of San Gabriel. There will also be a tasting of the Roscos of Loja. After the tour there will be free time for lunch and to look around the town. The coach will leave Loja at 5pm. Tickets available at the centre 25 Euros for Friends of Lux Mundi/ visitors 28 Euros. Proceeds for fundraising. Departure times: Algarrobo (Lidl) 08:00, Caleta (Vets) 08:05,Torre del Mar (Bus station) 08:15.

Dementia: Are there any Digamites out there who are caring for a partner with dementia and would like to meet up for a coffee to have a chat? I am in that position and I find that most people find it sad for the dementia sufferer but not many have compassion for the person who has to shoulder all the responsibility of being a carer.
