Fantastic young dog looking for home

Jimi is at a perfect  age for adoption. He is a year old, castrated, passported and chipped. Jimi and his brother were brought in from the back of Torrox pueblo a few months ago. He is currently living at Tail Refuge but if anyone is thinking about adopting a nice friendly easy boy, he is for you. He knows how to sit, walks well on the lead and gets on fine with other dogs. He is living with another male at the moment. He weighs about 15kg and is a short haired cross breed. Come and meet him and take him for a walk. He is also ready to travel to another country. Beautiful black leather boots, over the knee, but also foldable down a bit under the knee.  Leather outside,man made inner. What’s on –Women of Andalucia  The next meeting for the group will be held at El Vente Restaurant El Penoncillo on 14th of December at 1.30 pm.    The restaurant is on the opposite side of the Road to our previous meeting point of Jose Jimenez going towards Nerja.
As we are getting close to Christmas it was decided to make this a social meeting where we will have some food and a catch up. For those who can’t make it I wish you a Happy Christmas and look forward to seeing you in the New Year. I will post our next meeting date on Digame.

What’s on- 10th Art Walk 2018 in Competa 31/1 – 4/4      In 2017 we had the successful Art Walk with 22 locations and 38 participants!     It attracted many visitors from the region and even from further away – the town was buzzing. We were very lucky with the beautiful weather, and a lot of good quality art was shown, as well as some handicraft products. Anne-Barbara Lenzin made a beautiful mosaic on the gallery wall. Bronze caster Daan showed the bronze casting process and English artist George Kowzan made a beautiful wall painting at the roof terrace of Taberna Oscars. Live music gave the village extra rhythm.   Although it took a lot of work to organise, it was all worth it, and Jeroen Stultiens made a nice summary film of the event. https://vimeo.com/231286289         Lieuwke Loth, who organised it the previous 4 times, doubted for a long time, if she’d again take on the task of organising another Art Walk. In the end she decided the successful art event should be continued. Fortunately there are, also like other years, various people who will volunteer. This one will be the 10th edition! Exciting! What’s on –Red Cross-Update on tourist train trip and other activities   The Red Cross in Spain (La Cruz Roja Española) in collaboration with the Association for the Promotion of Tourism in Axarquia (APTA) booked the tourist train that runs around Vélez-Málaga plus an English-speaking guide in October and the 40 places were advertised via print and social media. There was an overwhelming interest and APTA kindly offered another two trips but these were also ‘overbooked’ within days of the initial announcement. The three trips that were held were very successful (notwithstanding a mechanical breakdown and a minor collision with another vehicle) but regrettably more than 80 people who had applied were unable to enjoy the trip and remain on a ‘reserve list’.   A meeting is due to be held with APTA in the New Year to discuss the possible provision of similar train trips in 2018 and if any are available to the Red Cross then priority will be given to those people already on the ‘reserve list’ with the list being closed to new applicants in the meantime.  If sufficient additional places become available then these will be opened up to new applicants with details announced via social media. There will, hopefully, be a range of programmes, workshops and cultural activities for English-speakers in 2018 and further announcements will be made via print and social media in due course.   In the meantime, if anyone wants more information about the work of the Red Cross and the support available or is interested in becoming a volunteer please contact the local office.
