The 35th Mijas Theatre Festival has begun, taking place at the Municipal Auditorium until July 18: The theatre festival, which has been held in Mijas for 35 years, will host various productions.
The festival kicks off on July 15 with Dorotea y Margarita, by the Cultural Theatre Association, as well as a show by Cochera Producciones with Salva Reina, Miguel Angel Martin and Pedro Angel.

Exhibition recommendation: During July the Sala de Exposiciones in Mezquitilla is showing a local man’s 40-year collection of his geological finds along the coast. The exhibits include some striking fossils, incredible shells and trays of diverse rocks as well as wonderful bones together with other, more quirky, pieces. Javier has an encyclopaedic knowledge of his collection which he will willing share with you (in Spanish). Even without his explanations, if you’re interested in the geology of this stretch of coast, it’s worth a look.
The exhibition is open from 11am until 2pm and 7pm until 10pm from Wednesdays to Sundays.
The building is opposite Sala Ottawa; it’s housed within the Correos building (to the right in the photo).

-The circulation of the virus during this fifth wave is ever higher across the country, and the infection rate now stands at the same level as it was in February, when the third wave – which reached a peak of 900 cases per 100,000 inhabitants – was falling.

-The Covid rate slows down in the province of Malaga. It is growing, but slightly less than in previous days. However, the number of hospitalisations is high. Only in one day there are 33 admissions due to serious cases. This Wednesday there are no deaths, but the number of infections is close to 900.
-The Department of Health and Families reports 33 hospitalisations in the province in the last few hours. In the three working days since the beginning of the week there have already been 104 admissions, a number that would fill two thirds of the rooms of a regional hospital such as the one in Ronda. That is only adding the new admissions between Monday and Wednesday. So the pressure of care continues to increase. There are currently 208 patients in the Malaga hospitals, 28 more than on Tuesday, given that although there were 33 admissions, there have also been discharges. -Since the beginning of this year, WhatsApp has been bombarding its users with recurring, intrusive notifications to accept changes to its terms of use and privacy policy. If they don’t, the company threatens to deny them access to the service.

Our Nursery is open by appointment depending on the current travel restrictions. Please email or call first. We have Moringa seedlings, Organic Moringa powder and Comfrey plants. We also have some local trees and some exotic trees from Africa.
Vetiver is a rapid growing and non-invasive sterile clump grass with a height of 1-2 metres and a root system of 3-4 metres in depth. We have been providing Vetiver throughout the EU for almost 10 years now. We are located in Sayalonga where we can plant year round but our best results by far start in February. The reason is that Vetiver is indigenous to India and Vetiver loves the heat of the summer. Use Vetiver cuttings as mulch around all of your fruit trees. Decomposing Vetiver improves soil quality, keeps the weeds down and the insects away all while helping to maintain soil moisture.
Vetiver is a nutritious and replenishable animal fodder. Horses and pigs love it. We use it in our chicken pens replacing hay because it stops mites.
In the 2 photos below you will see land prepared for Vetiver and the results 2 years later.
We also use Vetiver along driveways and sidewalks. It also makes a great and inexpensive ornamental hedge.

Fakebook Log-in Problems: {by Editor} Many readers are reporting they cannot sign into Facebook using a web browser, including myself. The FB mobile device apps do not appear to have this problem. As far as I have figured out, it has to do with the new anti-tracking & anti-cookie features that have recently been added to browsers like Chrome, Firefox, etc. As to why it happens to some people and not others, I am still investigating.
The data of yours that FB sells to advertisers is worth 10x as much if it has your location included. Tracker blockers prevent FB from collecting your location. Cookie blockers prevent FB from collecting lists of websites you visit and searches you do. Evidently, if you won’t let FB have your location and lists of every website/search you visit, they are not interested in giving you access. Note, if you are using a mobile device FB app, then they already know your location. That is why the app is not having this problem.
FB support has been useless in helping fix this.
My solution was to install a web browser without the anti-tracking features. I am now forced to use Pale Moon web browser to access FB. It is a slow browser, but it works with FB. See Pale Moon here: http://www.palemoon.org/

U.S. to announce new warning on J&J coronavirus vaccine for autoimmune disorder: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is expected to announce a new warning on Johnson & Johnson’s (JNJ.N) coronavirus vaccine related to a rare autoimmune disorder. COVID-19- Most rules to end in England on 19 July – but face masks and ‘passports’ encouraged: England will move to the fourth and final stage of the government’s roadmap for lifting lockdown restrictions in a week’s time, the health secretary has confirmed to MPs.
In what Sajid Javid said was a “major milestone”, the move to step four on 19 July will see social distancing rules and limits on social contact removed across the country.

-In laboratory tests, blood from several dozen people given their first dose of the Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccines “barely inhibited” the Delta variant, the team reported. But weeks after getting their second dose, nearly all had what researchers deemed an immune boost strong enough to neutralise the infection — even if it proved a little less potent than against earlier versions of the virus.
