COVID-19

Andalusia now has a week of around 2,000 Covid infections per day: {Translation} Updated: 07/07/2021, 14:51
-Andalusia has 2,156 cases of coronavirus infection this Wednesday, which brings the community to a week of around 2,000 cases per day. Most of these positives correspond to people aged between 15 and 29 years, according to data from the Ministry of Health and Fans, which indicate that the cumulative incidence among this population is 591 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants, three times higher than among the general population of the community.
-However, the incidence is also growing among the general population and this Wednesday it is already 213 points compared to 202 yesterday, a rise of eleven points in just 24 hours.
-In hospitals, although there is improvement, it is minimal this Wednesday. Normally, when the community is in a phase of regression of the pandemic, from Wednesday onwards the number of hospitalised patients drops. Today they have done so, but only in two patients. Thus, Andalusia now has 522 patients admitted to Covid, only two less than yesterday. In the ICU, meanwhile, there are 117 people, five less than the previous day.
-Where the figures do remain lower is in the number of deaths, which this Wednesday are nine. Thus, since the beginning of the pandemic, the community has already had to mourn 10,232 deaths from Covid-19. If we compare this Wednesday’s figure with that of the same day last week, the improvement in the situation in this area is even more notable, given that on that day 21 deaths were recorded.

Coronavirus hospital admissions in Malaga increase 20 per cent in less than a week: Updated: 7 July 2021, 09:43
-The month of July began with 90 patients in hospital with coronavirus in Malaga province. This Tuesday, 6 July, there were already 116 patients admitted, according to the daily report produced by the Ministry of Health at the Junta de Andalucía.
-Hospital pressure has increased more than 20 per cent in less than a week and, therefore, breaks the trend of the previous months, when Malaga had gradually reduced the number of patients admitted with Covid and managed to keep them below one hundred. NHS vaccine passport scam could empty your bank account: NHS trusts are warning people to remain vigilant as criminals attempt to con people into handing over money or bank details for a fake Covid-19 vaccine passport. Cell phones and cancer- New UC Berkeley study suggests cell phones sharply increase tumor risk: New UC Berkeley research draws a strong link between cell phone radiation and tumors, particularly in the brain. Researchers took a comprehensive look at statistical findings from 46 different studies around the globe and found that the use of a cell phone for more than 1,000 hours, or about 17 minutes a day over a ten year period, increased the risk of tumors by 60 percent. Researchers also pointed to findings that showed cell phone use for 10 or more years doubled the risk of brain tumors.
-Joel Moskowitz, director of the Center for Family and Community Health with the UC Berkeley School of Public Health conducted the research in partnership with Korea’s National Cancer Center, and Seoul National University. Their analysis took a comprehensive look at statistical findings from case control studies from 16 countries including the U.S., Sweden, United Kingdom, Japan, Korea, and New Zealand.
-In its alert, the California Department of Public Health said, “Although the science is still evolving, some laboratory experiments and human health studies have suggested the possibility that long-term, high use of cell phones may be linked to certain types of cancer and other health effects.”

First-Ever Transient Pacemaker Harmlessly Dissolves in Body – Disappears After It’s No Longer Needed: Researchers at Northwestern and George Washington universities (GW) have developed the first-ever transient pacemaker — a wireless, battery-free, fully implantable pacing device that disappears after it’s no longer needed.
The thin, flexible, lightweight device could be used in patients who need temporary pacing after cardiac surgery or while waiting for a permanent pacemaker. All components of the pacemaker are biocompatible and naturally absorb into the body’s biofluids over the course of five to seven weeks, without needing surgical extraction.
The device wirelessly harvests energy from an external, remote antenna using near-field communication protocols — the same technology used in smartphones for electronic payments and in RFID tags. This eliminates the need for bulky batteries and rigid hardware, including wires (or leads).
