Halting Erosion using Vetiver
From Vetiver Spain in Sayalonga
Our Nursery is open by appointment depending on the current travel restrictions. Please email or call first. We have Moringa seedlings, Organic Moringa powder and Comfrey plants. We also have some local trees and some exotic trees from Africa.
Vetiver is a rapid growing and non-invasive sterile clump grass with a height of 1-2 metres and a root system of 3-4 metres in depth. We have been providing Vetiver throughout the EU for almost 10 years now. We are located in Sayalonga where we can plant year round but our best results by far start in February. The reason is that Vetiver is indigenous to India and Vetiver loves the heat of the summer. Use Vetiver cuttings as mulch around all of your fruit trees. Decomposing Vetiver improves soil quality, keeps the weeds down and the insects away all while helping to maintain soil moisture.
Vetiver is a nutritious and replenishable animal fodder. Horses and pigs love it. We use it in our chicken pens replacing hay because it stops mites.
In the 2 photos below you will see land prepared for Vetiver and the results 2 years later.
We also use Vetiver along driveways and sidewalks. It also makes a great and inexpensive ornamental hedge.
Here is a link to a short video showing the results.
https://youtu.be/rjTmb_LL2uo
We suggest planting now, as this is the BEST time of the year to plant.
To see more images of Vetiver go to this link.

Recommendations & Requests

I alerted you about this yesterday, autonomous communities demanding powers to make curfews and enforce travel restrictions, which will have a direct impact on all businesses and most of our lives. The Junta de Andalucia has already expressed it’s intent to bring back the curfew and limit capacities to previous levels. Bad news for the hospitality biz. Well. it has begun…I felt it important enough to post the entire, rather confusingly worded, long article to demonstrate the proceedings. It has started out convoluted and inconsistant, with finger-pointing and conflicting decisions on the first day. -Ed.

Spanish Supreme Court Begins Hearing Cases Regarding Giving Autonomous Communities the Powers to Enforce Curfews and Travel Restrictions: {Translation of full article} Updated: 11/05/2021, 14:16
-The fears of the jurists and the autonomous communities have been realized. With the end of the state of alarm on 9 May, the first discrepancies have arisen in the High Court of Justice of Andalusia (TSJA) over the perimeter closures agreed by the Andalusian Regional Government on the four municipalities with more than 5,000 inhabitants that had incidence rates above 1,000 infections. Different high court judges have ratified the confinement of Bornos and Villamartín, in Cádiz, and Castro del Río, in the province of Córdoba, but did not authorise the confinement of the municipality of Montefrío in Granada.
-The Andalusian court takes discrepant decisions on similar epidemiological situations. The First and Third Sections of the Contentious-Administrative Courts of Seville, in two orders issued on 11 May, considered the public health measure to be “proportional” and pointed out that “the right to health must prevail over the high risk of contagion”, and therefore allowed the municipalities of Bornos, Villamartín and Castro del Río to be closed perimetrically from 9 to 15 May. However, in the case of Montefrío, the First Section of the Contentious-Administrative Chamber based in Granada has decided not to ratify the measure in another order on 11 May.
-The latter court rejected the confinement of Montefrío because, in its opinion, “an indiscriminate restriction of a fundamental right is being imposed, leaving more than 10% of the population without the possibility of movement”. According to the magistrates, the fall of the State of Alarm since 9 May does not make it possible to ratify the measures.
-The town of Granada currently exceeds the rate of 1,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and was the only confined municipality in the province of Granada at the time. According to the TSJA in its ruling, the measure adopted by the Junta does not take into account the “current health situation of the municipality, where 12% of the population is already vaccinated”. Therefore, “it cannot be considered proportionate or justified to place citizens who are fully immunised on an equal legal footing”, the court argues.
-The court, in an order issued on 10 May, warns of the impossibility of limiting this right in the absence of a state of emergency, siege or alarm. The confinement of Montefrío does not conform to the “suitability, necessity and proportionality” governing the suspension of the right to mobility, although it was possible in the previous situation, it assures.
-In the same way, the resolution stresses that the fact that it is temporary, as this confinement was planned until 15 May when the number of cases would be reviewed again by Covid, does not affect what the court said, as “it would be just as unconstitutional to do it temporarily as it would be definitively”.
-Likewise, the court asserts that a decision of this magnitude in the normal constitutional order would only be possible through an Organic Law, for which the autonomous communities are not competent. Even so, there is room for appeal to the Supreme Court against the non-ratification of the measures, a route that the Andalusian regional government has already confirmed it will take.
*Rights can be restricted*
-On the other hand, the aforementioned chambers of the TSJA in Seville argue that “having assessed the necessity, suitability and proportionality of the measures, the right to health must prevail in the face of the high risk of contagion and serious public health risk to the public which – we must not forget – determined the declaration of the state of alarm in Spain by means of royal decrees 433/2020, of 14 March, and 926/2020, of 20 October, the validity of which, in the latter case, ceased just a few days ago.
-The Seville-based chambers understand that the mobility restriction is not absolute, as it includes a catalogue of cases in which travel is permitted, such as attendance at health centres, return to the place of residence, or for work reasons. Therefore, it ratifies the health measure agreed by the Regional Ministry of Health in Bornos, Villamartín and Castro del Río “even though it implies the restriction of fundamental rights”. The active sources of the fourth wave- 40 large cities of Madrid, Euskadi and Catalonia, above the maximum level of risk: Coronavirus infections have been declining for two weeks in Spain. The incidence already stands at 181 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days and leaves behind a fourth wave of COVID-19 that did not register the extreme figures of the previous ones. However, there are still localities where the risk of contagion is still very high. In 50 large cities, the current incidence is greater than 250 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, the maximum threshold of contagion risk set by the Health traffic light. Of them, 40 are in Madrid, Euskadi and Catalonia. Amazon fake reviews scam revealed, 200,000+ fake reviewers exposed: Earlier this year, the folks over at SafetyDetectives discovered an open ElasticSearch database that contained what they call a “treasure trove” of messages between Amazon vendors and Amazon customers regarding fake reviews. New Android banking trojan stealing users’ credentials in Spain: Cybersecurity researchers on Monday disclosed a new Android trojan that hijacks users’ credentials and SMS messages to facilitate fraudulent activities against banks in Spain, Germany, Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
Called “TeaBot” (or Anatsa), the malware started malicious attacks targeting financial apps in late March 2021, followed by a rash of infections in the first week of May against Belgium and Netherlands banks.
-The rogue Android application, which masquerades as media and package delivery services like TeaTV, VLC Media Player, DHL, and UPS.
-TeaBot exploits the access to achieve real-time interaction with the compromised device, enabling the adversary to record keystrokes, in addition to taking screenshots and injecting malicious overlays on top of login screens of banking apps to steal credentials and credit card information.
-Other capabilities of TeaBot include disabling Google Play Protect, intercepting SMS messages, and accessing Google Authenticator 2FA codes. The collected information is then exfiltrated every 10 seconds to a remote server controlled by the attacker.
-Editor Note: If you are tired of worrying about all the Android malware in circulation, and want to protect your device, the only free security app I can recommend is Kaspersky Internet Security for Android, https://www.kaspersky.com/android-security. The best protection according several rating agencies is Bitdefender Mobile Security but costs €11/yr. I have no financial connection to either of these companies. I would avoid the offerings of  Norton, Avast and McAfee, as these security apps tend to slow your device significantly. https://www.bitdefender.co.uk/solutions/mobile-security-android.html

Junta de Andalucía Covid Info Maps Have Been Updated and Changed: The maps provided by Junta de Andalucía have updated the infection rate “scale colors”. This can be confusing because the numbers of infections that invoke Level 3 & 4 restrictions have NOT changed. So in the new “Riesgo según Incidencia en 14 días” (Risk according to incidence in 14 days) maps, areas in Red, that previously indicated a locked down town, are now nowhere near a lockdown. For example, Red now indicates more than 250 incidences, rather than Red meaning more than 1000 as before, but still 500 would be required to have town perimeter restrictions return or 1000 for a non-essential biz shutdown. Yet it is now Red. Go figure. Anyway, here is the new scale.
Red- Riesgo (Risk) extremo (>250)
Dark Yellow- Riesgo alto (High) (150-250)
Dark Beige- Riesgo medio (Medium) (50-150)
Light Beige- Riesgo bajo (Low) (20-50)
Blue- Riesgo- mínimo (<20)

Recommendations & Requests

Editor’s Note to the hospitality sector: I am seeing many bars, cafes and venues now extending their hours and capacities in response to the end of the curfew. They should be aware the Junta de Andalucia is trying very hard to re-impose the curfew and the tighter capacity restrictions, despite the fact that as the law now stands it would again require a (new) National State of Emergency to do so. Sanchez has announced the national government is opposed to any new State of Alarm (see article in news section), which has the effect of encouraging those in hospitality to extend their hours. But it now happens that the national gov’t may be willing to let the Supreme Court decide if it grants autonomous communities their own curfew powers, despite the reservations of a few Cabinet Ministers. If the Junta de Andalucia gets their way, the old curfew & hospitality restrictions could return without much advance notice, causing chaos as upcoming events would need to be cancelled or have the event times changed or dates rescheduled, supply orders cancelled, tickets refunded, etc, etc.  Autonomous communities would need approval from the National Supreme Court to impose curfews regionally, and that court has already announced it is inclined to allow the autonomous communities their own curfew powers. Being prepared for either case would be prudent.

Infections decrease and those hospitalized by Covid rise in Andalusia: {Translation} Updated: 10/05/2021, 16:45
-The evolution of the pandemic shows the same trend as last week with a slight decrease in the number of infections and deaths. The negative note is provided on Monday by the increase in the number of hospitalized patients after five days in which the number of Covid patients has been reduced and today there are 1,210, of which 332 are in ICU.
-Andalusia counts this Monday 1,354 new infections of coronavirus and six deaths. The figure is slightly higher than the 1,298 cases recorded on Saturday, but represents 352 fewer positives than those recorded a week ago, on Monday, May 3.
-The incidence rate starts this week at 181 cases (180.9) and continues to decline. Three provinces, Cadiz (93), Malaga (130) and Almeria (141) have 14-day incidence rates within the medium alert level, corroborated by the one-week rate. Only Granada remains at the extreme alert level with almost 350 infections per hundred thousand inhabitants at 14 days and 145 at one week.
-In hospitalizations, there has been a rise in the number of patients after five days of decreases. There are 1,210 Covid patients in hospitals, 61 more than on Sunday but 108 less than on the same day last week. Of the total 332 are in ICU, eleven more than Sunday and 14 less than seven days ago.
-This increase in the number of hospitalized patients has led, among other measures, to the Reina Sofia University Hospital in Cordoba to set up a new ICU module with six places for critical patients from Covid in two newly built operating rooms that were not active. Forty-five percent of the ICU patients in that hospital are Covid patients. Sánchez rules out legal changes and insists that communities have tools to face the pandemic: Pedro Sánchez rules out legal changes to face the final stretch of the COVID-19 pandemic after the lifting of the state of alarm, which has caused a wave of warnings from communities and political parties regarding the problems to face what remains ahead until vaccination is effective for the population as a whole. “The Government of Spain is clear that all the communities in this stadium have sufficient instruments to face the pandemic,” was the president’s response to these criticisms at a press conference in Athens.
The Government made a legislative modification last week through a decree law that will have to be validated in Congress so that the autonomous communities can appeal to the Supreme Court (for extending the curfews without a National State of Alarm), as has happened in Euskadi. The intention is that it dictates jurisprudence and the measures can be homogenized after the different interpretations that the judges have made. However, the high court has questioned the Executive’s move and within the cabinet there are doubts that the Supreme Court can endorse restrictions such as the curfew -which have been raised by several communities- without a state of alarm. Salud begins vaccinating 56-year-old Andalusians against Covid this week: {Translation} Updated: 05/10/2021, 18:37
-The Andalusian Health Service (SAS) will begin this week to call those born in 1965, whether or not they have reached 56 years of age, to continue advancing in the Vaccination Plan and occupy gaps that remain free while the rest are vaccinated. of age groups (born in 1964 or earlier). In addition, in Andalusia this week progress will continue with the vaccination of the 2,500 stevedores in the ports of Algeciras, Cádiz, Huelva, Granada, Almería and Seville and caregivers and vulnerable people.
-For proactive by age ( those from 57 onwards until reaching 60 and those over 68 appointment ) the possibility of requesting an appointment through ClicSalud +, the mobile application and the telephone number Salud Responde (955 54 50 60), continues to be open. Although the SAS wants to make a call not to use these routes if you do not belong to this age group to avoid saturations in the system.
-As for the appointment for the administration of the second dose, it cannot be requested through these routes and it will be provided in most cases at the time of vaccination or will be communicated later by your health center .
-Thus, the Ministry of Health and Families is advancing one more step in the Vaccination Strategy and will progressively open the appointment, proactively or through its health centers or districts, to the rest of the ages, progressively decreasing the years of birth.
-This week, Andalusia expects to receive 413,630 doses : 279,630 from Pfizer, 55,000 from Moderna, 56,500 from AstraZeneca and 22,500 from Janssen. One in three Andalusians already has some degree of protection against Covid: {Translation} Updated: 05/09/2021, 19:39
-Andalusia has 1,149 people hospitalized this Sunday after catching Covid-19. They are 43 less than yesterday Saturday and, more importantly, they represent a reduction of 444 with respect to the peak of hospital pressure that the community has registered in this fourth wave of the pandemic. Thus, in mid-April Andalusia reached 1,593 hospitalized for coronavirus, that is, 28 percent more than now.
-In the case of ICUs, there is also a decline in the community, although less marked than in the case of general admission. Thus, Andalusia has 321 people in intensive care for coronavirus this Sunday, 2 less than yesterday.
-This drop seems to confirm that the community has exceeded the peak of ICU hospitalizations, which was reached on April 29, when the community added 351 patients to intensive care.
-Meanwhile, the vaccination process is progressing. According to data from the Ministry of Health, the community has 2.3 million inhabitants with at least one dose of the vaccine against cornoavirus. To this must be added the more than half a million Andalusians who have overcome the disease and have generated antibodies in a natural way.
*Natural immunization*
-With these numbers, it is observed that Andalusia has 34 percent of its population with some degree of protection against the coronavirus. They are the 27.4 percent who have received at least one dose plus the 6.6 percent who have been immunized naturally.
-In addition, according to the latest report from the Ministry of Health, in Andalusia there are already more than a million people with the two doses and therefore, immunized. They are 12.90 percent of the population and 15.5 percent of the target population – those over 16 years of age. EU has not ordered AstraZeneca vaccines beyond June:
The European Union has not made any new orders for AstraZeneca vaccines beyond June when their contract ends, European Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton said on Sunday, after the EU signed a deal with Pfizer-BioNTech.
The European Union signed a new contract with Pfizer-BioNTech to receive 1.8 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines for 2021-2023, to cover booster shots, donations and reselling of doses, the European Commission said on Friday.
Breton also said he expected the costs of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines to be higher than the earlier versions.
The Commission last month launched legal action against AstraZeneca for not respecting its contract for the supply of COVID-19 vaccines and for not having a “reliable” plan to ensure timely deliveries.
“We did not renew the order after June. We’ll see what happens,” Breton told France Inter radio. He did not rule out a potential renewal at a later stage.

F1 Racing News- Lewis Hamilton dominated the Spanish Grand Prix to take his fourth victory in six races so far this year: The Mercedes driver led every lap from pole position and was simply too fast for Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who was unable to challenge.
Hamilton’s team-mate Valtteri Bottas took third, failing to catch Verstappen despite Mercedes’ efforts on strategy.
Hamilton’s win extended his World Championship lead to 37 points over Verstappen, who is six ahead of Bottas.
It was the 88th victory of Hamilton’s career and he is now just three from Michael Schumacher’s all-time record of wins. Full article: https://www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/53799077

DoctorLaptop’s Tips #90
Windows 10 Tricks
-Slow File Searches? If Windows Search is not accurately finding files that you know are there, or is very slow to find them (you may see a bar appear in the address box slowly crawling across the page as it searches), then it may be time to rebuild your search index.
Do that by clicking Start, typing “Index” in the searchbox, and then click Indexing Options.
It will open up the Control Panel entry, where you can go to Advanced Tab, then click Rebuild, no need to choose a new location. When it is finished, restart the computer. File searches should now be faster.

-Reduce Eye Strain. Screens emit blue light which may interfere with sleep patterns. Windows 10 has a “night light” function to reduce blue light in the hours before you go to bed. Switch it on by going to Settings -> System -> Display, and then tap Night light settings to activate it and set up the hours based on your location and time of the year.

-Problems Copying Web Page Text for Pasting into Word or Excel?
If you are pasting text from a web page into Word or Excel, and find that it’s incorrectly formatted, try pasting it into Notepad first, and then copying it from there and pasting it into your application.
-Trouble Using the New “Settings” Layout? Hate poking around, opening several windows before you find the setting you seek? Wish the old Control Panel had been left unchanged? You can use “God Mode” to open a page with every Control Panel option in a list, which is far easier to scan thru when looking for a particular setting. See pic below.
Here is how. Simply go to your desktop, right click, then left click “New”, then left  click “Folder”. Give the new folder this exact name: GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
This folder will instantly turn into a desktop shortcut to God Mode. Double click it like any other shortcut to open. -DoctorLaptop, Torrox Costa,

COVID- Black Fungus Danger Discovered In India: Mucormycosis, also known as Black fungus, triggered by COVID-19, had last year led to the death of several patients while some lost their eyesight. A doctor at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital said the facility has admitted six patients with mucormycosis infection just in the past couple of days.
According to the US Centre for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC), the fungal infection is caused by a group of molds known as mucormycetes. These molds, present naturally in the environment, affect a person when their immune system is weakened. They affect the lungs/sinuses after inhalation of fungal spores from the air.
The fungus can also enter the body through open wounds or cuts. Full article: https://www.newsbytesapp.com/news/india/coronavirus-induced-black-fungus-cases-reported-at-delhi-hospital/story

NEW COVID RULES- Guide to new Covid measures in Andalusia after 9 May, curfew, mobility and opening hours for bars and shops: {Translation} Updated: 06/05/2021, 21:13
-The end of the state of alarm is imminent and the measures with which the Junta will try to control the Covid pandemic in Andalusia are already known.
-Without the legal framework that this national alert situation entailed, the restrictions that modulated fundamental rights such as the right of assembly or freedom of movement will disappear. From now on, perimeter closures, the most widespread measure since the second wave, will only occur on an ad hoc basis and following a court ruling.
-All in all, the different areas of life and activity in Andalusia will be regulated from midnight on 9 May as follows:
*Mobility beyond the region*
-Following last week’s opening of Andalusia’s inter-provincial borders, from Sunday it will also be possible to travel beyond the borders of Andalusia to and from other autonomous communities.
-Similarly, it will now be possible to take a plane or any other means of transport with an international destination, as long as the country to which the traveller is going has a lax tourist policy and accepts visitors.
*Curfew*
-Disappears. There is no longer any legal basis for limiting movement through the streets of Andalusia, so it will no longer be necessary to carry any accreditation in this regard. Personal identification is still compulsory, of course, if required by the authorities.
*Catering opening hours*
-The restaurant trade will be closed until the stroke of midnight. They will have to close their shutters at midnight, gaining an hour and a half of service compared to the last regulatory framework. As the weeks progress and, with them, the health situation is expected to improve, bars and restaurants will be able to stay open until 1am.
-Moreno has advanced that the capacity for tables will be increased to 8 people inside the premises and 10 people on outdoor tables or terraces (depending on the level of alert).
*Nightclubs and bars*
-The hardest hit sector of the hotel and catering industry will resume its activity with opening hours until 2:00 am, and applying the same restrictions as in the case of bars and restaurants.
-The Junta has indicated that dancing will be limited to open-air areas and with obligatory masks. In the parts of Andalusia with level 2 and 3 health alerts, dance floors will not be available. Discotheques will be open, but without this possibility.
*Opening hours of shops and services*
-Commercial establishments will resume full activity, as there is no curfew. Shops, shopping centres, service offices, gyms… will resume their usual closing time.
*Culture and sporting events*
-At health alert level 3, the rule of one and a half metres of separation between spectators will have to be followed. In the case of Levels 1 and 2, it will be sufficient to leave one seat free between groups of spectators. This applies to cinemas, theatres, bullrings, sporting events and entertainment venues in general.
*Meetings*
-This is the other major ‘recovery’. Since the state of alarm has been lifted, this fundamental right can no longer be restricted, much less inside private homes. Without losing sight of the fact that the daily number of new infections is in the thousands in the region, it will be vital to have some legal tool to prevent overcrowding, such as the Public Safety Act, which governs capacity.
*Celebrations*
-There is a limit of 300 people inside the halls/venues of celebration and 500 people in the case of outdoor ceremonies or receptions.
*Beaches and swimming pools*
-There is no time limit in these two cases.

Raspberry Flavour Bananas Arrive On The Peninsula: The red banana is not of the Cavendish variety, like the traditional Canary Island banana, and as well as the exterior colour difference they also have a different flavour. They are slightly smaller and have a tougher “bright purple, between purple and brown” skin. However, the interior of the fruit looks much like a normal banana, although, there is a slightly pinkish tone to it. The texture is very similar, but the flavour has subtle hints of red fruits, particularly raspberry. CORRECTION, with photo now– Refugio de Leo: I would like to recommend that anyone interested in the welfare of our canine companions and who may be interested in offering some help to Antonio and his helpers at the Refugio de Leo, situated between Velez Malaga and Arenas, as championed by Scott from SPW Construction Services in last weeks DigameXtra. All roads are surfaced, so there is no problem with any off road driving. See Google map ping here: https://maps.google.com/?q=36.806229,-4.077485
Scott and his team from SPW Construction Services spent this past weekend laying a floor in one of the kennels and will be doing more work over the next couple of weekends.
Antonio, who runs Refugio de Leo, would welcome any assistance and/or donations that any of us Digame-ites might be able to offer – from cleaning and maintenance to dog walking (see collage), or donations of food, old blankets, etc. The area for walking the dogs is manageable with all roads being surfaced for those who cannot clamber through the wilds! Have a look at their site on: http://www.elrefugiodeleo.com/
Antonio can be contacted directly on mob: +34 654 427 202
Or call Scott from SPW who is happy to liaise on mob: +34 622 938 440
My wife, Sue and I, had a wonderful time walking some of the dogs this past Sunday. The weather was lovely, the stroll a nice gentle bit of exercise and the views wonderful, not to mention the beautiful, friendly and happy canines. Please consider helping out in any way that you feel you can. It would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Keith, Torre del Mar.

Covid Spain- The incidence of the virus falls eight points in a single day: {Translation} Updated: 05/05/2021 20:01
-The incidence (AI) of the virus dropped eight points in a single day and now stands at 205.52 cases per one hundred thousand inhabitants. The drop is due to the elimination of 1,273 duplicate cases from Castilla y León. The same happened on Tuesday with the data for Catalonia. In addition, 6,317 new infections and have been registered 167 deaths , 61 more than the previous day.
-Six communities and the city of Melilla continue to be at extreme risk due to the transmission of the virus, registering an incidence greater than 250 positives per 100,000 inhabitants. This is the case of the Basque Country (478), Madrid (329), Navarra (313), Melilla (327), Aragón (297), La Rioja (283) and Catalonia (253).
-The occupancy of beds in ICUs also decreased. In the last 24 hours, that percentage has gone from 22.89 percent on Tuesday to 22.25 percent. However, five regions and the cities of Ceuta (35.29%) continue with a very high occupancy of more than 25 percent. These are Madrid (41.95%), La Rioja (35.85%), the Basque Country (38.16%), Catalonia (35.19%) and Aragon (31.30%).
-The positivity rate of the tests carried out remains below 10 percent in all the autonomous communities. Aragon and Madrid are the regions with the highest positive rate: 9.95 percent and 8.70, respectively. These are the municipalities of the province of Malaga closed perimeter due to extreme risk of Covid: {Translation, summary} Updated: 05/05/2021 20:11
-According to the report sent by Health, from next morning the towns of Alfarnatejo, Almáchar, Cuevas del Becerro, Periana, Sierra de Yeguas, Villanueva de Tapias and Yunquera will be closed perimetrically. It will not be possible to enter or leave the municipal area except for justified reasons, although the activity of non-essential commerce and the hotel and catering trade will continue.
-Businesses will continue with their shutters down in Alfarnate, which has not yet managed to reduce its infection rate sufficiently. The accumulated incidence (AI) in this town is currently 1,314, 6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
-The municipality of Cuevas del Becerro also exceeds the 1,000 infection barrier, but it is one of the Andalusian towns in which the Junta has established specific measures because it has less than 5,000 inhabitants. For the next seven days it will be subject to the perimeter closure, but not to the cessation of activity in shops.
-With today’s meeting, the committee is cancelling the measures currently in place. The new measures will take effect at 00:00 on Thursday 6 May and the committee will review them again next week.
-The health districts of Malaga, Valle del Guadalhorce, Serrania, Costa del Sol, La Vega, and Axarquia remain at health alert level 2, with the exception of the municipalities of Cuevas del Becerro (Serrania) and Alfarnate (Axarquia), which are at level 4 degree 2. How to find the Covid vaccination certificate in the Andalusian health app: {Translation, note: the online translators struggled with this one, this is the best I could come up with. -Ed.} Updated: 05/05/2021 14:39
There are three ways to obtain this ‘covid passport’ or vaccination card:
-Requesting it from the general practitioner
Patients who have received both vaccinations can ask their doctor for a document certifying that they have received both vaccinations. The doctor will be able to issue a paper certificate containing the applicant’s personal details as well as details of the doses received against the coronavirus.
-Through ClicSalud+
This web platform of the Regional Ministry of Health is used, among many other things, to request medical documentation. So, the first step is to access the URL of the page.
The second step is to enter, in the section HEALTH, in the area where it says VACCINATIONS.
There, you can access your vaccination history.
-Downloading the Health app
The first thing to do is to download the “Salud Andalucía” web application through the app store on your phone or tablet. Secondly, go to the section “Get your Covid-19 vaccination certificate”. Finally, you can access your vaccination data using the key or certificate.
-This Covid-19 vaccination certificate was devised with the aim of offering certain privileges of mobility and attendance at major events to Andalusians who have already been fully vaccinated. It will be in June when the European Union will impose its own ‘green certificate’, designed precisely to encourage mobility within the European territory and gradually resume economic activity.

WHO Vaccine Reaction Database Shows 660,733 Recorded Adverse Reactions To The AstraZenica Covid-19 Vaccine: {By Naythan}
The trade name for the AstraZenica Covid-19 vaccine is Vaxzevria. If you visit the VigiAccess website (http://www.vigiaccess.org/), which is maintained by the WHO (World Health Organization), and then enter the name Vaxzevria, you will see a list of all the recorded adverse reactions listed, 660,733 of them! And mostly in the EU! Remember, you must enter the exact “trade name” of the drug you are searching.
On the website lists, click on a category to see the specific reaction list in detail. I have included 2 pics of the general categories with the numbers of reports, and another pic of the Eye Disorder specific reactions (22,519 of them!) and number of each reported. The Government will implement tolls on all highways in 2024: {Translation} Updated: 05/05/2021 18:28
-Three years. This is the deadline the government has given itself to implement a pay-per-use model on Spain’s high-capacity network (motorways and dual carriageways). In the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan sent to Brussels on Wednesday, the government not only addresses this policy, but also assumes that it will push ahead with the measure, which will be included in the future mobility law.
-The government stresses that this toll system “means moving towards the internalisation of the external costs of transport under the principle of charging the user ‘user pays’ and also the ‘polluter pays’ principle”. The intention with this system is to pay for the maintenance of the state road network. The government explains that of the 24,466 kilometres of the state road network, 12,000 kilometres belong to high-capacity roads. This generates growing costs that “cannot be assumed directly by budgetary resources” and a maintenance deficit that results in a loss of value. For this reason, the government plans to cover this maintenance with new tolls.
-The document also details that in “the case of heavy goods vehicles authorised for the transport of goods by road, the necessary regulatory conditions will be promoted so that the cost of this measure is assumed by the shippers”. Even so, he assures that the matter will be discussed with professional hauliers “with the aim of reaching an agreement with them” in order to avoid conflicts such as those experienced in France.
-For private individuals, the government plans “a campaign to raise awareness of the need for this measure, aimed at making both hauliers and the general public aware of the need for reform”. With this system and “affordable fares”, the government aims to combat “the initial rejection” that it understands the measure will generate. Reductions or discounts are also being considered for certain groups, such as low-income or regular drivers.
-The plan, however, is ambitious. It does not stop at motorways and dual carriageways, but is intended to be extended to the entire road network. The government is looking for a scalable and progressive pay-per-use system. The Association of Infrastructure Conservation and Operation Companies (Acex) argues that a toll of between 3 and 5 cents on average would be enough to put an end to the 8 billion euro deficit already accumulated by road maintenance.
-The government plans to raise the mobility law so that the Council of Ministers can give it a “first reading” before June. The regulation, however, would not be approved before the second half of 2023. Transport has always appealed for consensus with the rest of the political forces in order to move forward with the law, which has an obvious political cost for the government.
-In addition to the tolls, the government has designed an ambitious plan for investment in Cercanías (commuter trains), financed with European funds and endowed with 1,619 million euros until 2026. The bulk of the investment will be borne by Adif, which will invest 1,502 million euros mainly to improve tracks and stations in Madrid, Catalonia, the Basque Country, Valencia, Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria and Andalusia. The government also promises to electrify 100% of the network.
-“The ultimate objective of this line of investment is to maximise the use of collective rail Cercanías transport services, mainly by reducing the use of private vehicles in urban and metropolitan environments, and consequently polluting missions,” explains the text, which recalls that the Cercanías were used by 443 million passengers in 2019.

Holidaymakers are to be given Covid screening packs to use abroad as Foreign Office hints at ‘green list’… but you’ll still have to pay £50 for gold standard one in UK: Whitehall sources told the Mail that fast-turnaround tests would be made available free of charge to people travelling abroad to cut the hassle and expense of getting a pre-return test in a foreign country.
However, in a decision that will dismay the travel industry, people returning from abroad will still have to pay for a gold-standard PCR test when they get home, at a cost of at least £50 each. ‘Weather Alert’- could see widespread rain to Spain this weekend: The culprit – which will arrive after several days of summer-like high temperatures that will touch on 30 degrees – will be an explosive cyclogenesis, a rapid drop in pressure – situated north of the Azores. The storm, which could be named ‘Mathieu’, will leave widespread rains in the mainland on Sunday, according to Meteored. Peloton recalls treadmills, halts sales, after a child dies: Peloton is recalling about 125,000 of its treadmills, less than a month after denying they were dangerous and saying it would not pull them from the market, even though they were linked to the death of a child and injuries of 29 others. The company said Wednesday that it will now offer full refunds for the Peloton Tread+ treadmills, which cost more than $4,200. It will also stop selling them. Football News- Expanded squad limit of 26 players at Euro 2020 is confirmed with UEFA also allowing teams to replace players who get injured or contract Covid-19: Each country playing at Euro 2020 this summer will be allowed a squad of 26 and will be able to replace players who test positive for Covid-19 up until their first match.
UEFA has confirmed the increase in squad numbers from the usual 23 players to 26 in light of the tournament being played in extraordinary circumstances amid the pandemic.
The expanded squads will ease the situation if one or more players within the camp test positive for coronavirus and have to self-isolate during the finals, which begin on June 11. Golden Leaves Funeral Plans:
Pre-planning your funeral is a thoughtful and responsible way to show you care about your family.
Funerals are no easy task. There are numerous considerations to factor in, including logistics, food and drink, casket purchase and burial grounds. A loved one’s death brings immense emotional strain to any family, and the question of financing and arrangements only exacerbates the stress.
Handling all of these challenges is difficult enough in one’s normal circumstances, but having to go through it while abroad is an enormous burden.
Golden Leaves Funeral Plans aims to support grieving families during these tumultuous times. Since our inception in 1984, we have partnered with a widespread network of funeral directors across the UK and Europe.
Purchasing a funeral plan with Golden Leaves enables you to plan, design and pay for your funeral services in advance.
As one of the leading providers of expat prepaid funeral plans in Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, Balearic Islands, and the Canary Islands, we make sure to adequately support your family in the time of greatest need.

Refugio de Leo: I would like to recommend that anyone interested in the welfare of our canine companions and who may be interested in offering some help to Antonio and his helpers at the Refugio de Leo, situated between Velez Malaga and Arenas, as championed by Scott from SPW Construction Services in last weeks DigameXtra.

Vaccination of under-60s against coronavirus gets under way in Andalucía: The region’s Minister of Health, Jesús Aguirre, announced this Tuesday that the public health authority had started to call 59-year-olds to receive their jabs. “And then we will continue with 58-year-olds,” he added.
In addition, Aguirre has announced a new group on which his department wants to focus their strategy against the pandemic: dock workers considering them “a new risk group” since – as he pointed out – in some areas of Spain they have detected that “the virus enters coastal ports through cargo ships”. Conservative Right Dominates in Madrid Elections: The conservative Popular Party’s candidate was the big winner at Tuesday’s Madrid election, having managed to secure more seats in the regional assembly than the three leftist parties combined. With 99% of votes counted, Ayuso had taken 65 seats, just four short of the absolute majority of 69. Combined with the 13 seats of far-right Vox, the two parties secured 77 deputies in total compared to the 59 of the leftist bloc: 25 for the Socialist Party (PSOE), 24 for Más Madrid and 10 for Unidas Podemos. At the last regional elections, in 2019, the difference between right and left was just four seats. Now that number is 18. Madrid has shifted even further to the right. Pablo Iglesias leaves politics after Liberal Left gets hammered in Madrid Elections: {Translated, summary}
Iglesias was in fifth position, the last, and United We can only get 10 seats with him (7.2 percent). Pablo Iglesias leaves politics and all his positions. The organic ones in Podemos and the institutional ones. The coup de effect that the secretary general of Podemos tried when he left the coalition government and presented himself as a candidate for the electoral advance in the Community of Madrid failed. And he leaves. “When you stop being useful, you have to know how to withdraw.” With these words, the former vice president of the Government said goodbye this morning. AGAIN! Apple Releases Urgent Security Patches For Zero-Day Bugs Under Active Attacks, Safari Also Targeted: Apple on Monday released security updates for iOS, macOS, and watchOS to address three zero-day flaws and expand patches for a fourth vulnerability that the company said might have been exploited in the wild. The weaknesses all concern WebKit, the browser engine which powers Safari and other third-party web browsers in iOS, allowing an adversary to execute arbitrary code on target devices. The development comes just a week after Apple rolled out iOS 14.5 and macOS Big Sur 11.3 with a fix for a potentially exploited WebKit Storage vulnerability.
Until users demand better pre-release testing, Apple will continue to release vulnerable software, and let the users do Apple’s beta testing for them. Since you pay a high premium price for Apple products, you should expect properly tested products. Full article: https://thehackernews.com/2021/05/apple-releases-urgent-security-patches.html

Amazon’s European subsidiary pays no corporation tax for 2020: Amazon’s European arm paid no corporation tax in Luxembourg for last year, despite revenues of some €44bn, documents show. Because it posted a loss of €1.19bn (£1.03bn), the Luxembourg-headquartered subsidiary was not required to pay any tax, and in fact received a €56.39m (£48.95m) credit.
Adding up losses, including from previous years, gives the firm €2.7bn (£2.35bn), which it can offset against any future corporate tax bills. Full article: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/amazon-corporation-tax-europe-luxembourg-b1841881.html

Juanma Moreno: “On Sunday the curfew in Andalusia ends when the state of alarm ends”: {Translation}
-“On Monday the curfew ends and we cannot close beaches with very high levels of contagion because the state of alarm ends. The communities are tied in knots”. This is the message of the president of the Junta, Juanma Moreno, who on Monday insisted that the Executive Pedro Sánchez has to give a legal umbrella to the autonomous regions to manage the pandemic after the end of the state of alarm on Sunday 9 May.
-The central government does not seem to have any intention of extending this table, but Moreno has indicated that this reluctance may be overcome after the elections to the Madrid regional government, which take place this Tuesday. “There is still time. I hope that when the elections are over, the government will feel liberated and will provide a regulatory framework so that the communities are not naked” in the management of the pandemic, the Andalusian president said.
-For Moreno, equally valid would be an extension of the state of alarm, an emergency law or changes to the Public Health Law that would enable the communities to close mobility or limit meetings, fundamental rights protected by the Constitution.
-Moreno has once again asked the central government for tools with which “to be able to tell a sick person not to leave the house or to close municipalities or provinces” or even to impose “a curfew, which has helped to prevent the spread of the virus”.
-And if there is no help from Pedro Sánchez’s government? Then the Andalusian government intends to act “within its sphere of competence”, in other words, “to restrict opening hours and when there are many cases in an area we would try to close that locality by asking permission from the judicial authority”.
-However, this option, Moreno stressed, would reduce the speed of the Junta’s action in controlling the pandemic. By having to consult a judge on each measure, the Andalusian government “loses time” in tackling contagion, he pointed out. Sold Out: I have sold out of all the Minis Forum GN31 MiniPCs I received. Thank you to everyone who replied. As the wholesale price has gone up by 30% since I last ordered them a month ago, due to the current computer shortage coupled with high demand worldwide, I doubt I will order any more of that particular item. I am always searching for good value deals for my clients, so if I can find a similar item at a reasonable cost they will be posted here. In the mean time, keep your current computers well maintained, and consider upgrading them rather than replacing them. Doubling the RAM and replacing old HDDs with new SSDs will bring new life to older units.

A million Spaniards due second AstraZeneca shot will have to wait another month: On Tuesday, May 4, it will have been 84 days since the first doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine were administered in Spain. That’s 12 weeks – the maximum time that the technical sheet for the Covid-19 vaccine recommends between the two injections necessary to offer full protection. The Public Health Commission, which is made up of the central Health Ministry and the country’s regions, met today to decide what course of action to take for the more than a million under-60s who have received their first dose and have been left in limbo ever since the Spanish health authorities opted to use the medication exclusively for the 60-69 age group given concerns over the tiny risk of blood clots associated with AstraZeneca. In the end the health authorities have opted to delay the decision for another four weeks. The urban bus will be free for the residents of Torrox: {Translation, summary}
-Torrox wants to “revolutionize” public transport. The City Council announced this Thursday that it will be free “for all residents”, in addition to expanding coverage to reach, for the first time, the limit with Nerja (no further explanation of this was offered). The councilor has explained that in order to benefit from this measure, it only will be necessary to present a card when entering the buses, which can be requested by anyone who is registered in the municipality. In addition, thanks to new technologies, users will be able, from now on, to keep track of the schedules, both through the information panels that will be installed at the stops , and directly on their mobiles, when taking the new vehicles integrated a GPS.
-These are the main novelties that the mayor, Óscar Medina, together with the mayor of the Treasury, Paula Moreno, has announced, precisely in the environment in which the new bus stop will be located, on the border with Nerja, where it will also be has presented the new bus that joins the existing fleet, a low-floor vehicle, adapted to the needs of passengers, with a ramp for people with reduced mobility and also incorporates USB chargers in each seat.

Let’s look through the US Army’s new night vision goggles- it’s amazing: The ENVG-B night vision system has been under development in the United States in recent months and is nearing completion. This mandatory military accessory acquires an entirely different meaning, functionality, and efficiency if we look through the soldier’s eyes who uses them. DigameXtra Editorial- Covid is NOT an Excuse for Robbery: Shoppers need to pay attention, and not just pay assuming the tab is correct. In addition, certain retail outlets are raising prices, without notice, to unjustifiable levels by a variety of means. Often their ads remain the same, but what you get is significantly less! Be vigilant!
-I check every receipt before I leave the checkout, I find myself overcharged for at least one item in fully half of my visits to supermarkets as of late. As I tend to do daily shopping, this is a lot of overcharges I find myself contesting. This is usually blamed on a failure to update their computers, or on an outdated price posted on a shelf. I do not find these excuses acceptable considering how often it happens. Some will not even honor the prices they have posted when you point out the mistake. Many supermarkets in the US/Canada give you the item for free if they mis-price it. I am all in favor of making that mandatory everywhere.
-A low budget brand of cooking oil at one local supermarket rose by 50% overnight, while remaining unchanged at all the others I checked.
-I bought a large family size pizza (not the small personal pizzas) to go for €8, mushroom & chorizo, on the boardwalk. When I got home I found it had 5 paper thin slices of chorizo and 12 thin slices of mushroom. When I returned the next day and presented them with a photo, they denied they made that pizza even though it was still in their box in the pic!
-The MiniPCs I have been ordering for resale have doubled in price in 6 months.
-My local pharmacy charges 50% more than what others charge for many identical common articles like asprin and tylenol, despite a Federal gov’t mandate to sell these common items at discount prices to help the financially challenged due to Covid. In other cases, they will try to sell you expensive brand name items, when a generic version is available for far less. If you are on a tight budget, always ask for the “Marca genérica” version. (Note: with some common pharmaceuticals, like Diazepam [Valium], the generic version is notably inferior in strength to the original version [Roche], despite being an “equivalent”.)
-The point is, check all purchases before handing over your cash! -Ed.
