What’s on- 3rd International Art Symposium LUZ in Cómpeta, 14 – 21 Oct 2017
When artists from all over the world come together to share a single workspace for a week, elusive inspiration naturally starts to percolate. 12 professional talented artists travel from 9 different countries to the picturesque mountain village of Cómpeta, province Málaga in Spain for the 3rd International Art Symposium LUZ. They come from Colombia, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, India, Russia, Italy, Armenia, Denmark and Spain. It is organised by Dutch artist, art event organiser and gallery owner Lieuwke Loth. The council of Cómpeta turns their communal space, Salon de Actos, into a workshop for one week, inviting visitors to observe and talk with each artist at work. While Cómpeta is already thriving with working artists and international visitors, the LUZ event gives both locals, residents, artists and tourists a venue to engage with one another. The group exhibition at the end of the symposium is not just a display of the pieces that will be created during this week, but a celebration of Cómpeta’s role in bringing together so many different cultures and nationalities. Everyone is welcome to come and experience the Symposium LUZ!
