U3A Axarquia: The U3A Axarquia is loosely based on but not affiliated to the U3A in the UK and the association has been running here in the Axarquia since 2009. Yes, Amazon Echo will work in Torrox- but you need to set it up in the UK, using downloaded app, get it working then, when in Spain, change to your wifi network and you are off. Dog Agility Training Group, New Term Starts This Saturday: We are a long established Dog Agility Training Group who meet every Saturday morning at 10.30am, to train and practice with our dogs, close to Puente Don Manuel. (Near Arkwrights English Shop) Directions Link Map Link
It is a small and friendly group who love to be involved with Canine Agility. Sessions commence at 10.30am until approx. 1pm, after which we usually socialise our dogs in a café / bar in Peunte Don Manuel over a coffee etc.
Attendance is strictly by pre- arrangement (to control numbers), so if you are interested in participating, please drop us an email with your name, dogs name, type of dog and a telephone number and we will get back to you to discuss your requirements and make the appropriate arrangements.
Each session is 10€ per dog and lasts approx. 2 and a half hours or so.
Join in with us for some good old ‘Fun in the Sun’ with your best friend, we’d love to see you both.
NB. All dogs must be adult dogs, puppies and very young dogs cannot participate until they are adult.
Beginners welcome, all the best journeys start with a first step.

Pellet Stoves: It’s that time of year again and I put my film on Digamextra to help people know where to go for Pellet Stoves and Log burners. I recommend Tehisu in Velez Malaga – they have been very good over the years and I was so pleased with what they did for me I made this film. They are still on the poligono at Velez but have newer showrooms and many more stoves since the film was made. They supply the pellets as well. Universal Healthcare: There has been a very important change to the way healthcare from public funds is to be provided. This will now be based on residency (authorised or otherwise) instead of on citizenship as has been the case up to now. This new law does not change the administration of health cover for those in receipt of State pensions, overseas workers or those in employment. This change is due to a new Royal Decree which came into force on July 31. The various regions are somewhat dragging their heels implementing the RDL.
The Junta de Andalucia Health Ministry has been proactive returning direct debits from those on the Convenio Especial and registering these for healthcare under the new regulations. The best way to provide you with the information is via our Universal Healthcare FAQS.

The office is in Alhaurin, but they have vehicles and agents all along the coast. 2 hours later, a clean white van with a very sympathetic and professional young man came, quickly did the paperwork, and then took Ben away, handling him with due respect. They will also do Urns with ashes and so on. All that remained for me to do was drop the passport at the vet to have the microchip record cancelled. Missing cat, La Noria area: This grey tabby is chipped, has a passport and is fully vaccinated. He has not been home for a few weeks although has been seen around La Noria, I did put a blue collar on him but I think it has come off. If you have seen him please let me know; he is a big boy and has kidney problems so should be on a special diet. I suspect someone is feeding him a diet he prefers but which is not good for him! Wanted: Small flat by the coast with outside seating. We are coming down to Torrox for a while but my husband has a problem with mobility at the moment. We have our own apartment in Torrox Park but he will have problems with the steps, so we are looking to rent somewhere down at the Costa for a few weeks early October.
