Some of the stories are bleak, as stories of war and hostilities often are, whilst others are much lighter and even of a humorous nature. Many of them are romances and love stories. The conflicts and wars which are behind the stories range in time from 1000 BC up until the present day. They take place mainly in Europe and the Middle East and the majority are events that involve Great Britain, Spain and Israel, and the hostilities that they were involved in.

Malaga airport: Best way I have found.
-Dropping people off.
Follow the signs to ‘departures’ on the high level.
Keep to the right, where it says “Authorised only’ for some reason, not to “Parking”
go through the ticket barriers, go into the car park and drop people in the yellow hatched area. You then leave, and have 15 minutes FREE on the ticket – so NO Charge
-Collecting people. When they come into the arrivals hall, they should go straight ahead towards the coffee shop,  then up the two long escalators behind it into the DEPARTURES area.
There are loos there as well, which is convenient.
Then make their way to the car park, on the top floor, as before.
You then have the choice. Either guess what time they will arrive and pay a small amount on the ticket
OR
“Lurk” outside the immediate zone, in Macro car park for example on the main road, or in the slip road opposite the brewery, and then your guests ring you as they come through into arrivals and start the process
You then go to “Departures” as before, and meet them on the yellow hatched area, and
again do this within the 15 minutes, so pay nothing
“Lurking” means you have to be on the ground level, not the high level
You go UP on a slip road to the right just past the petrol station on the roundabout

Malaga Airport: To pick up we tell everyone to collect baggage then phone us three rings, go upstairs to departure, walk across the road to tobacco shop and walk to the back of car park and wait. When you hear the three rings you are actually parked in plasamayor, just passed the airport turn from malaga on motorway (coin ) free parking and shops to look at whilst waiting for call, by the time your guests have called and walked up to pick up point is the same time you arrive at airport hence no parking charge or long waits. Dropping off is Easy just get your ticket drop them off then go within 15 mins saving charges. To pick up we leave

Airport drop off: You can no longer drop off people outside the airport but must use their drop off ‘Express’ carpark. As you approach the terminal building you now have to go through a barrier to pick up a ticket then proceed into the Express car parking area. The first 15 mins are free but then after that I think the minimum cost is 2.30€ plus a minute by minute charge after that. This is fine if you are literally just going to drop off a passenger and luggage there, then drive straight out again.
I used it once but the ticket barrier is a little way from the entrance and there is often a queue caused by other cars blocking the carparking areas or just dithering about! It took a little while to find a space then I made the mistake of popping into the terminal to use the loo. By the time I came out and then joined a queue to exit the carpark, I ended up paying 3.45€ at the barrier.
Next time I simply used the short stay carpark which gave me much more time and was far cheaper, and I also use this for pick ups too. To access the short stay carpark you need to follow the P1 signs and stay on the ground floor area, do not follow departures or go up the ramp towards the terminal building.

Samothraki Greek Restaurant- Torrox Costa: I would like to recommend this newly reopened cafe to everyone who enjoys Greek food. I am on a very restricted diet (pesco-vegan/keto, lost 16kg in 2 months so far!) yet they made every effort to cater to my needs. The classic Greek salad starter was perfect. My second course was a prawn/veg casserole with that wonderful fragrant Greek seasoned tomato sauce, very distinct from it’s Italian cousin. They have a full bar and as Summer approaches they are expanding the menu. Coming soon are new exotic seafood specialties and authentic Gyros. Great food and service, a winning combo!

SPW Construction: We employed SPW Construction to completely retile the floors of three bedrooms, and the floors and walls of two bathrooms. They did an excellent job, with lovely clean edges on the walls, and nice flat surfaces, despite the contours of the walls and floors underneath.
We were impressed by the things they did automatically – like matching lines on floor and wall tiles, repairing small patches of damp they found, and repainting the dirty ceilings in the bathrooms. When they found evidence of termite damage, they let us know so that we could OK some repair work. The work was carried out while we were away, and the team cleared the rooms before they started, and cleaned and replaced everything at the end of the job. All the way through we were sent updates, and sometimes photos, of the work progress. We dealt mostly with Scott, who couldn`t have been kinder, and even took us to a tile warehouse, where the rang of tiles was much larger, and cheaper, than anywhere else we`d been. We thought the cost for the work was very reasonable and, for once, the final cost matched the estimate. We will certainly use the firm again.

American Roots @ Danny Boys Bar and Kitchen: Thursday 4-6pm. This Thursday sees the first of our summer afternoon live music shows. We’re so pleased to get Pablo and Dani playing for us. Art Classes: The Torrox Pueblo Art Group starts its summer session on Wednesday 1st May to Wednesday 3rd July. We operate from La Casa Restaurant in the main Square, Torrox Pueblo from 10.30am – 1.30pm. We are a very sociable group of various nationalities and abilities and it is ideal for the complete beginner or the more established artist. It’s so satisfying to see how the groups artwork has improved over the years and it’s such a fascinating subject to get involved with. We cover most subjects, Portraiture, Landscapes, Still Life, Animals, Pets and more, it’s left up to the individual to choose. The mediums we use are Oil, Acrylic, Watercolour, Charcoal and Pencil.

Use “Lite Apps” to speed up your Android phone/tablet: Due to age or low RAM or slow processor speed your Android phone may seem to be performing slower than you would like. Most Android users already know to turn off backround apps and bluetooth if not currently in use, to conserve power resources and the amount of RAM being used. What else can you do to speed things up?  To boost the performance of your Android phone try installing the lightweight versions of your mobile applications (apps). If you are using the standard heavy weight version of the Facebook app in a phone with low RAM the app may be very slow. It is probably better to replace it with a lighter version of the same app, Facebook Lite, in this case. It is designed to work with minimal resources, even on old-school 2G connections, and on a phone with only 1GB of RAM. There are similar “lite” versions of most popular apps available in the Store. The Dogs Need You!: Are you getting bored sitting in the sun and would like to do something worthwhile? At Tail Dog Refuge we are looking for help. We have over 100 dogs and pups to care for and not enough volunteers.
If you have a few hours spare a couple of times a week, we need help with
-dealing with the washing and general cleaning in the house
-help with cleaning the kennels
-help with repairs and tiling
-dog walking
-driving and help with furniture collection
The kennels are conveniently situated near Lidl on Torrox Costa and 5 minutes walk from the bus. There is also car parking available.
We are looking for local people who can make a regular commitment.
If you prefer shop work we also need help in both of our shops. Hours are 10.00 to 14.00.

iPhone (iOS) Tricks:
-Turn your iPhone into a large, rectangular magnifying glass. Great for when you can’t find your reading glasses! The ability to zoom in on real-world images might prove helpful in all kinds of situations, such as when you’re squinting at a menu in a dimly-lit restaurant. To use it, go to Settings, open General, choose Accessibility, and then tap Magnifier and turn the feature on. You can also enable auto-brightness at this time, which means the camera screen will react to ambient light levels. With this toggle set to on, you can close Settings and launch the iOS Camera app and triple-tap the Home button to bring up the Magnifier option. Use the slider at the bottom of the screen to take a closer look at anything, from a photograph to a block of text.
-Check that a surface is level. iOS has an extra built-in app hidden behind the Compass. Load up the Compass, then swipe left, you’ll find a spirit level tool. Use it to make sure your pictures are hanging correctly and your DIY is up to scratch. An iPhone may not be as precise as a dedicated spirit level, but it’s very handy. Either use the spirit level with your phone laid out flat or with it perched on its side in either portrait or landscape mode. If you tap the screen, you can measure the difference between two surfaces, with the red margin showing how much the two angles vary.
