DIGAMEXTRA NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT- It’s business as usual on the Internet, and Internet related bills must still be paid! There is no sponsor income during the lockdown. From the beginning of lockdown I put all sponsor accounts on hold until they can operate again. So, businesses and readers, please consider making a donation or becoming a DigameXtra Sponsor to help pay the production expenses and WordPress bills. Email for sponsorship info. You can join the Sponsor list and be rewarded with extra posting privileges. Donations of cash or your old but working computers, tablets or smartphones graciously accepted. You may drop these off at the DigameXtra office in Torrox Costa, but please call before coming over, 675 993 069. Or I can meet you at the Torrox Costa Lidl or Aldi or tobacco shop near the bus station if that makes it easier for you. Sorry, no bank or Paypal. Donations are not tax deductable. Thank you.

Restaurant & Market Deliveries and Open Services

If your business is allowed to operate during the lockdown, send in your details for inclusion to let Readers know. If you know for certain a restaurant is still delivering (none should be offering take-away at this point), have them send in the details including Name of Restaurant, Location, Phone Number, Hours and a photo of their menu (optional). Unfortunately I have received some inaccurate info from well meaning 3rd parties which has caused problems. So now these businesses must submit their own posts, although I will in this case allow them to post even if they are not subscribers. -Ed.

Recommendations & Requests

La Peña in Archez: We tried a meal from La Peña in Archez last night, and it was excellent. The food was tasty and arrived piping hot, we live in the campo on a carril but Juan was happy to bring it to our door despite this. I will suggest to him he submits a post and menu to digame, but in the meantime you can contact him on whatsapp 657905067. He’s operating Tuesdays to Sundays in Sedella, Salares, Corumbela, Archez, Canillas de Albaida and Competa. He only started this service this week, and really deserves to be supported.

Chemical spraying: Civil liberties versus state during corona crisis.
I live in an urbanisation in Caleta de Velez. At 10am this saturday 18th April, a tractor drove past my house spraying chemicals 20 ft into the air over houses, gardens, cars, pets and people (if there were any outside).
It stinks. It adheres to all surfaces. If my windows had been open or my dog outside we would have been soaked. All I could do after it passed was hose down my plants and walls to get rid of some of it.
It’s bad enough that all the vegetables and fruit grown around here are soaked in chemicals in fields of black plastic, but is it really good for my, or anyone’s, health and safety to spray neighbourhoods indiscriminately, without warning, with who knows what chemical cocktail?
Footage of migrant workers in India being sprayed with chemicals caused outrage in the press, why are we putting up with this?
I tried to call euroweeklynews to report this but no answer.
Yours, Irene, irenegrant69 At gmail DoT com

Driving Licence Renewal: Does anyone know the protocol for renewing your licence during the lockdown period. Any info would be appreciated.
Dorothy / Archez ; dotbarrett25@gmail.com
(Editor’s Reply- The Spanish government has said that it will automatically extend the validity of driving licences that expire during the state of alarm.
“Driving licences and permits, as well as other administrative authorisations to drive, whose period of validity runs out during the state of alarm, will be automatically extended as long as this lasts and up to sixty days after its end,” says the resolution published by the Ministry of the Interior in the Official State Gazette on Saturday.
The measure applies to Spanish and foreign licences valid to drive in Spain.

HOAX ALERT: COVID-19 News About Spain Using Planes to Spray Disinfectant is FALSE!
Major English language news outlets are falsely reporting that Spain will be using planes to spray. This is not true. The original Spanish language source article was mis-translated by the English language conservative news website Zerohedge, and then many other websites reposted that incorrect Zerohedge article. I alerted Zerohedge, but as of now their erroneous article is still posted. It is also linked as a headline on the Drudge Report, one of the most visited news sites worldwide, who I also alerted to the error, they have not taken it down either. The Drudge Report desk editor just now replied, saying they have removed all references to this topic as of 6pm NY time.
Spanish Original article: https://www.larazon.es/espana/20200417/6fjwc35dubapfahyy2qu3xvns4.html
Here is a translation from the Spanish source that clearly says it was a mistake to announce planes would be used:
Although planes or helicopters were initially considered to carry out this task, military sources assure this newspaper that it is a mistake of the Bulletin and that the authorization does not refer to “aerial means”, but to “aerial procedures”, that is, through special machines “to disperse the disinfecting substance through the air.” A kind of “fog generators”, they point out. Others confirm that it should not have been written as “aerial means”, but rather as “aerial techniques”, since it is “a mist in the air”.
Here is a Spanish website that tracks and exposes these hoaxes, https://maldita.es/

Andalusian premier to call on prime minister to allow relaxation of confinement measures in his region first, given low infection rate: Today’s figure was a significant fall from Saturday, which saw 565 confirmed fatalities, and with a reduction of 155, represents the biggest drop in daily deaths since the crisis began.
However, the data should be viewed with some caution, given that there has been regular underreporting of coronavirus statistics from Spain’s 17 regions at weekends and on public holidays. Source: https://english.elpais.com/society/2020-04-19/daily-coronavirus-deaths-in-spain-fall-to-410-the-lowest-figure-seen-in-a-month.html

Spanish PM to seek extension to state of alarm, will allow children to leave the home from April 27: In a televised address on Saturday evening, Pedro Sánchez announces that there will be a “cautious and progressive” deescalation of confinement measures from May 11.
Among the changes to the current conditions announced by the prime minister today were opportunities for children to leave the home under controlled circumstances from April 27. Specific details of where children will be allowed to go and how often, however, are yet to be announced. He also said that he would seek approval in Congress to extend the current state of alarm – which was first implemented on March 14 – to May 9, and that from May 11, there would be a “cautious and progressive” deescalation of confinement measures.

Italy’s daily coronavirus death toll hits one-week low: Deaths from the COVID-19 epidemic in Italy rose by 433 on Sunday, the lowest daily tally in a week, and the number of new cases also slowed to 3,047 from a previous 3,491, the Civil Protection Agency said.
The death toll had risen by 482 on Saturday, down from 575 on Friday.
The daily tallies of deaths and cases extend the broadly stable situation in place over the last two weeks.
This plateau is down considerably from peaks reached around the end of March, but the downtrend has not proceeded as fast as was hoped in a country that has been in lockdown for almost six weeks.
Sunday’s number of deaths marked the lowest daily rise since April 12, when it came in at 431, before rising again during the week. Source: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-italy-tally/italys-daily-coronavirus-death-toll-hits-one-week-low-idUSKBN2210NR

Sweden still refuses to go into lockdown despite highest jump in Covid-19 deaths to date: The number of new Covid-19 infections rose by 482, bringing the overall count to 11,927 from 11,445, yesterday. Yet Sweden remains reluctant to follow the rest of Europe and order a lockdown. Bars, restaurants and shops are still open, as are schools, despite mounting criticism from the country’s leading doctors and academics. Tech Fact: How does big tech plan on saving all that data they collect? Won’t they run out of hard drive farms and clouds eventually?
The answer according to Microsoft is DNA. Microsoft believes synthetic DNA could be the next big leap in long-term data storage, with just one gram of DNA capable of storing 215 petabytes of data for up to 2,000 years. A petabyte equals 1,000,000 gigabytes. If it pans out, the technology could significantly reduce the space required to store the world’s growing data. Brexit Hotline

The Spanish government has a hotline to answer all queries from Brits living in Spain about the implications of Brexit, in English. Callers can ring 060 when in Spain or +34 902 887060 if calling from abroad and an automated system will offer the choice of either Spanish or English.
You will then be offered a choice of information on the different issues.
The service also offers the option of speaking to an operator for those requiring further information or with a specific query not dealt with by the automated options. Source: https://www.thelocal.es/20200218/spain-launches-dedicated-brexit-hotline

By now everyone should know non-essential travel is banned. Call Sponsors for their current status as most, but not all, must be closed. -Ed.

All current Sponsors have received 30 day extensions to their Sponsorship expiration dates to compensate for the lockdown time we are experiencing. -Ed.

LOYPAR is now providing home deliveries:
Thanks to Vetiver Spain in Sayalonga for this info!
We all have been in lockdown for a while. Both Anna and I are over 65 so we are considered high risk so we are staying home.
We stocked up before the lockdown so we were fine. Since the lockdown was extended we did some research.
For 10-12 years we have gone monthly to the Wholesaler LOYPAR which is located in the Velez Malaga “Poligonos Industriales.”
They carry everything including liquor. We found that LOYPAR is now providing home deliveries. Everyone is changing the way that they do business during this time.
You can find their website at www.Loypar.com. They have a great website and they are adding more products every day including fresh produce.
We placed our order on Tuesday at 10 AM and received our order at 10 AM Wednesday.
We have formed a relationship with Antonio Lopez and we would like to share it with everyone.
He can be contacted at pedidos AT lopezpardo DOT com or WhatsApp at 34 697 210 813. He speaks perfect English. He is very responsive and helpful.
Tell him David and Anna from Vetiver Spain referred you. We like to acknowledge someone who is doing a great job during this trying time.

DIGAMEXTRA NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT- It’s business as usual on the Internet, and Internet related bills must still be paid! There is no sponsor income during the lockdown.

-Ed.

Spain’s Minister of Health recalls 100,000 defective masks made in China: Spain’s Health Ministry has recalled the defective FFP2 masks imported from China because they do not comply with European quality standards. Regions to have received the defective batch include Andalucia, Madrid, Valencia, Galicia, La Rioja, Castilla y Leon and Castilla-La Mancha. The batch of 68,600 distributed to Andalucia was withdrawn immediately after the warning was received from the Ministry of Health. However, some health departments in certain regions claim that these masks have been used for several weeks until they were alerted about the recall just recently. More than 50,000 Costa construction workers back on site as ban ends: Monday was the first working day back for employees who are not in any of the fully shutdown sectors of the economy (such as restaurants, gyms or bars) and those who are unable to work from home. In Malaga province this included the return of over 50,000 workers in the construction sector to outdoor sites and public works. Builders visiting homes where people are living have been banned however.
Another big non-essential sector to go back to work was gardening, which provides a lot of employment in the developments and public gardens of the Costa del Sol. Food and healthcare manufacturing had not been paused but other non-essential industry was allowed back. Crohn’s disease cure: Australian scientists claim to have found a cure for the debilitating Crohn’s disease thanks to a treatment of antibiotics and faecal transplants. Crohn’s disease, which is becoming increasingly common, has conventionally been treated using medicines to suppress the activity of the body’s immune system. However, these treatments have not always not been effective and relapse is common. The latest cure promises prolonged remission, according to the researchers. Remission of between three and 23 years can be achieved with this cure, enabling patients to have an improved and ‘pain-free’ quality of life, confirms the research. Why Are They Hiding The Facts? : Citing coronavirus crisis, Spain retreats on transparency requests for information regarding government procurement during the health emergency are going unanswered! The state of alarm decreed in Spain a month ago to combat the coronavirus crisis has put transparency legislation on hold. While citizens may still file requests for information, the automatic reply is that these will not be processed until the country goes back to normal.
This makes it impossible to access documents such as the meeting minutes of the expert committee that the government says it is basing its coronavirus decisions on, or a copy of the contract showing the purchase of 640,000 rapid tests from China that turned out to be defective.

Millions of Bees found dead across Spain’s Costa del Sol & Costa Blanca causes Farmers to worry about food shortages: Reports are flooding in from all over Spain of honey bees dropping dead to the floor in their millions.
Some are blaming the recent spate of mass disinfections carried out in streets and urbanisations throughout Spain, millions of litres of chemicals were sprayed onto walls, roads and trees in a bid to rid the country of the deadly coronavirus.
Spanish farmers have a right to be worried because, without the precious Bee, crops will not be pollinated and will not grow, leading to major food shortages.

Disinfection: On Tuesday a lot of council workers descended on the road in front of our apartment block on the Torrox/Velez border. They were putting up huge signs, white lining the road, and erecting a rubber pipe above the road and a row of rubber discs across the road. They are disinfecting cars. The cars go over the rubber discs and activate an overhead spray. I only saw it working once, it was so windy that the spray blew everywhere, on the oleander hedge, on the vehicles parked on the other side of the road, the bins, everywhere but on the cars. I think they might have turned it off now as I haven’t seen it working since.
All I am asking is why? What good will this do? Like hosing down empty buildings only for the rain to wash it all off immediately. This virus is not spread by buildings or cars, is it? Doors and door knobs maybe but nobody is going to touch the walls of buildings 20ft up. Where is the science in all this? And what’s in the spray? If disinfectant did any good we would all be spraying ourselves with Dettol daily.

Facebook Admits Aiding The Spread of Fake COVID-19 News and Hoaxes. Plans to scan all user accounts and send warnings: Hoping to stem the torrent of false cures and conspiracy theories about COVID-19, Facebook announced Thursday it would begin informing users globally who have liked, commented on, or shared “harmful” misinformation about the coronavirus, pointing them instead in the direction of a reliable source.
Under Facebook’s new policy, when a piece of “harmful” coronavirus-related misinformation has been debunked by its fact checkers, and removed from the site, all users who have interacted with it will be shown a message in their news feed directing them to the WHO’s list of debunked claims. People who have liked, commented on, or shared Facebook posts saying that drinking bleach can cure COVID-19, or that social distancing does not prevent the disease from spreading, will be among the first to see the new message “in the coming weeks.” Full story: https://news.yahoo.com/facebook-notifying-users-shared-coronavirus-130006739.html?

‘Grave concerns’ about Covid-19 immunity passports: Trapped between the competing urgencies of saving lives from Covid-19 and avoiding economic calamity, some government officials have mooted “immunity passports” as a way through the impasse. But experts told FRANCE 24 that the necessary antibody testing is not reliable enough – and even if the scheme were feasible, it could create a dangerous incentive for some to acquire the virus in order to qualify for the passport. Foot sores could be an early sign of coronavirus, experts say: The Spanish General Council of Official Podiatrist Colleges warned experts that some COVID-19 patients have experienced lesions on their feet “similar to those of chickenpox or measles,” according to Newsflash. “They are purple lesions (very similar to those of chickenpox, measles or chilblains) which usually appear on the toes and normally heal without leaving a mark,” the group said.

Did China Delay Sharing C-19 Info? : On Jan. 14, China’s top health agency told provincial officials that they were facing a likely pandemic from a new coronavirus — but didn’t alert the public for six key days. President Xi Jinping warned the public on the seventh day, Jan. 20. By then, more than 3,000 people had been infected, according to retrospective infection data. The week of silence came at a critical time — the beginning of the outbreak. Internal documents obtained by The Associated Press show the National Health Commission ordered secret pandemic preparations, even as it downplayed the outbreak on national television. You can join the Sponsor list and be rewarded with extra posting privileges. Donations of cash or your old but working computers, tablets or smartphones graciously accepted.

-Ed.

Germany plans to let smaller shops reopen next week after a weeks long coronavirus shutdown and to start reopening schools in early May: But Europe’s biggest economy is keeping strict social distancing rules in place for now. Nonessential shops, which have also have been closed for nearly four weeks, will be allowed to start reopening, with hygiene precautions, if they are up to 800 square meters (8,600 square feet) in area. So will auto showrooms, bike shops and bookshops, irrespective of their size.
Merkel said the decisions will apply to the period from Monday though May 3, and officials will review the situation again on April 30.
She said authorities also will recommend that people wear face masks on public transport and when shopping, but are stopping short of making their use obligatory for now. Full story: https://apnews.com/a808be6b5ff4d28e7a3e65711204a29b

Would you give up health or location data to return to work? : New systems to track who is infected and who isn’t, and where they’ve been, have been created or extended in China, South Korea and Singapore. And a range of other surveillance systems – some utilizing GPS location data, some gathering medical data – have been debated or piloted in Israel, Germany, the U.K., Italy and elsewhere. Spain just announced they are joining this effort with a new mobile app.
Whether the prospect on the table is “immunity passports” or cellphone-based tracking apps, the aim is to protect public health. But experts say it’s also important to avoid a slippery-slope scenario where data collected to minimize the spread of disease is stored indefinitely, available without limits to law enforcement or susceptible to hackers. EasyJet entices holiday makers with “1 euro bag offer” to Spain’s Costa del Sol & Costa Blanca for advance bookings: EasyJet is enticing holiday makers to fly to Spain’s Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca after the lockdown ends with “bags for just 1 euro when you book your next adventure”. In its latest offer, EasyJet says it wants to “help you make the most of your adventure”, so it is offering customers to check-in their bags for “just 1 euro”. “Plus, we’ll fly your sports equipment for 1 euro too, so you can pack your bike, clubs, surfboard or skis and make your next getaway one to remember,” the airline adds.
The company is also offering cheap package holidays deals for next year, starting from May with dates available until September. EasyJet adds that its holiday packages are “ATOL-protected”, meaning even if they don’t go ahead, you will be entitled to a full refund.
Full story: https://www.euroweeklynews.com/2020/04/16/easyjet-entices-holiday-makers-with-1-euro-bag-offer-to-spains-costa-del-sol-costa-blanca-for-advance-bookings/

What’s happening to the beer left in pubs? : Fifty million pints – give or take.
That’s the amount of beer expected to go unused in barrels if pubs remain closed into the summer because of coronavirus. Publicans are currently unable to sell their lagers, ales and ciders – save for takeaways and home deliveries.
The UK’s 39,000 pubs have, on average, 15 barrels in their cellar at any given time. Most are kegs containing 11 gallons (88 pints) each – although many real ales come in nine-gallon (72-pint) casks. The best-before dates on pasteurised beer – including most lagers – are usually three to four months after delivery. Those for real ales and other unpasteurised beer are usually set at six to nine weeks. So most stock could go to waste if social distancing measures remain in place for several months. 49 Crypto Wallet Extensions in Google Chrome Caught Hijacking Accounts: Google has ousted 49 Chrome browser extensions from its Web Store that masqueraded as cryptocurrency wallets but contained malicious code to siphon off sensitive information and empty the digital currencies. I have warned in the past about using these browser based crypto wallets. They may be convenient but they have a very poor track record for security. If you use one of these wallets you should read this:

Brexit Hotline

The Spanish government has a hotline to answer all queries from Brits living in Spain about the implications of Brexit, in English. Callers can ring 060 when in Spain or +34 902 887060 if calling from abroad and an automated system will offer the choice of either Spanish or English.
You will then be offered a choice of information on the different issues.
The service also offers the option of speaking to an operator for those requiring further information or with a specific query not dealt with by the automated options. Source: https://www.thelocal.es/20200218/spain-launches-dedicated-brexit-hotline

Driving back to the U.K: I would be grateful if anyone can give me information or where I can obtain information on the rules of driving back to the U.K. under the present circumstances. My Wife and I are U.K. residents.
As I understand only one person can be in the front row of seats
The second person must travel in the second row of seats furthest from the driver.
I really need the space in the second row of seats to take our possession back to the U.K. and also need my wife in the front to help me with navigation
Many thanks in advance

It’s official- Comet Atlas has broken apart: Just a month ago, it looked like the icy wanderer, officially known as C/2019 Y4 Atlas, might put on a dazzling sky show around the time of its closest approach to the sun, or perihelion, which occurs on May 31. For Sale: Hard case (with wheels) for upright bass
This hard case for an upright bass was purchased brand new in September 2019 and used only once to ship my upright bass from Chicago, USA to Salobrena, Spain. The case has a soft velvet interior and tough heavy-duty nylon fabric on the exterior. It also has wheels for easy transportation, a large exterior pocket for accessories, and several handles for easy handling. My upright bass arrived in Spain in perfect condition inside this case. Sale price is €500 and I have several photos showing both the exterior and interior. Please contact me with any questions or to request for more photos at:
gavin.tun@gmail.com or via WhatsApp +34 638 545 824.
Gavin, Salobrena

Recommendations & Requests

Disposal of household goods: I recently asked in our local information office if there was a particular day to leave an old microwave by the bins.
I was told there isn’t a particular day, but was given a phone number to ring on the day I planned to put it by the bins and they would arrange for it to be removed.
I live in El Morche, but I assume this applies to all areas.
If this was more widely known it would save all of us walking by discarded mattresses, broken cabinets etc that appear overnight by the bins.
So a quick visit to your local ayuntamiento for your area’s phone number will benefit the individual, the relevant authorities, and the environment.
There is no charge.
Hope people find this helpful.
Val, El Morche, vjfahey0 @ gmail . com

Face masks: I read in DigameXtra that the Spanish Government has recommended that we all wear Face Masks when out, can anybody tell me where I can buy one, I live in Frigiliana, please contact Mike on
mikestevenitt@gmail.com

Fiber internet: Hi, fiber-optic cabling was installed in my apartment block in Torre Del Mar a few months ago, but I didn’t make a note of who it was that installed it. I have tried Orange and Telefonica, but they don’t provide fiber internet. So does anyone in Digame land know how to track down who is actually providing the service? Please reply to
steveheugh @ yahoo.co.uk.
Thanks in advance, Steve.

Bars and restaurants are closed and tourism has petered out but between 250,000 and 300,000 pigs are still slaughtered each month. “With zero or near-zero consumption over Easter we need to make sure that there isn’t a glut when Christmas comes…(we) should prevent the Iberico product from devaluing and fetching the same price as chicken,” said Antonio Prieto – president of the Interprofessional Iberico Pig Association.

Recommendations & Requests

Animals and Birds: Hi Naythan. I also thank you for all the information you have given us. On the subject of spraying and affect it has on animal life. Here in the village of Frigiliana they have also been spraying the streets. Before lockdown our migrating summer birds had started to appear House martins, Swallows were chattering on the wires and balconies, they need the puddles where they can get them to repair and build their nests with mud. Now when I walk my dog all is silent. Yes we have a hand full of Swifts a few pairs of House Martins but I hear no Swallows where they use to be each year. Such a shame as they travel hundreds of miles up to us from Africa to breed each year and have been for countless generations past, we care for and love our house pets and the wildlife about us. I wonder what is the use of the spraying and what it was made up of. Keep safe everyone out there and give help to our wildlife where you can.
Regards Patricia, Frigiliana

Humour: Hi Naythan, just writing to thank for the excellent service you are providing through the daily Digame news.
Having been subjected to the lockdown for a month now, with a likelihood of another 4 weeks as well, would it be possible to introduce a daily dose of humour? I am sure a lot of people would appreciate it.
Regards. Terry, Torrox terrestepa aT yahoo dOt co DoT uk
(Humour is difficult in this age of Political Correctness. People are polarized, what is funny to half the people is deeply insulting to the other half, and everyone is so hyper-sensitive these days. You can no longer make fun of somebody’s looks or misfortunes, that is now “shaming” and not permitted. So no more celebrity “roasts”?  Religion, race, age, gender jokes are all off limits and can get you banned from Facebook.
Fortunately this is a blog, so I have a bit more freedom. Lockdown is boring, may as well give this a shot. Let’s see what kind of response it receives. -Ed.)

Sunday’s remote press briefing from Spain’s President Pedro Sánchez: During today’s remote press briefing, Spain’s President Pedro Sánchez warned that “we are far from victory” and that “more restrictions” could be imposed to win the battle against coronavirus (Covid-19).
The return to normal life he said will be with caution through the gradual lifting of restrictions, he added. However, Sánchez confirmed that for now “the lockdown restrictions will be maintained” even though the economy – which came to a total standstill around two weeks ago – comes out of hibernation tomorrow.
Although ‘non-essential’ work can start tomorrow, employers must ensure that staff are adequately protected, stated the President. Spain’s guide for returning workers: The guide, published on Saturday by the Health Ministry, aims to provide workers with clear guidelines on how to act when they leave their homes. These recommendations apply to workers in the industrial and construction sector, as well as other industries where working remotely is not possible. Public-facing businesses like shops, entertainment centers and restaurants (except those which deliver) will remain closed. The guide also applies to essential activities, like food distribution and the production of health resources, which were not suspended during the state of alarm or temporary “hibernation” period. See the guide in the full article: https://english.elpais.com/economy_and_business/2020-04-12/wash-clothes-at-60c-and-stay-two-meters-apart-the-spanish-governments-guide-for-returning-workers.html

Return to Work: Although the ‘state of alarm’ lockdown in Spain has now been extended until 26 April, officially non-essential workers can now return to work.
The Spanish government has stressed that the relaxing of the lockdown restrictions is only for industrial and construction workers, and for employees in sectors where working from home isn’t possible.
Retail shops, bars, restaurants and catering businesses (except for home delivery services) still remain closed.
The public must continue to remain at home. Read full article: https://www.spainenglish.com/2020/04/12/coronavirus-spain-12-april/

Costa del Sol Cops Making Mass Arrests In Spain on Easter Sunday with Zero Tolerance Policy: Being Easter Sunday, there is no reason at all to be on streets under the State of Alarm regulations and the police are reacting with arrests with regulation breakers being taken straight to the police station.
The police are taking everyone out of their cars for body searches whilst others search the cars with a detailed search before taking the flouters off in arranged police cars. The police around towns such as Fuengirola are completely blocking the roads and taking prisoners, in one road block alone in Fuengirola we counted 14 taken off in police cars and vans. 100+ Spain’s Costa del Sol nurses lodge complaint: Filed against hospital emergency department for not following strict Covid-19 protocols which has “put staff and patients attending emergency at risk of the disease.” The nurses accuse the department’s management of “unjustifiable delays” in getting access to materials needed to protect them from suspected Covid-19 cases because they were “repeatedly denied access to it.” Source: https://www.euroweeklynews.com/2020/04/11/100-spains-costa-del-sol-nurses-lodge-complaint-against-hospital-emergency-department-for-not-following-strict-covid-19-protocols/

Risk of poisoning to dogs and birds: I saw something on digamextra recently about dogs being harmed by the puddles of disinfectant left on pavements etc around Torrox. Recently I have become aware that birds in the local environment have disappeared. Early this morning I saw the remaining one of a pair of woodpigeons drinking from puddles of chemically toxic water on the balcon. Normally these two birds fly around here all day, in the past few days there has been only one, and since I saw one drinking this morning there have been none. It is probably dead. I sent a message to the address given on Digame for people at risk, they replied and said I should contact the police.
People are not allowed to walk on the balcon, although sometimes there are people walking dogs nearby and, as I said, birds drink from the residue of this spraying. But what is the point, and what is it they are spraying? Does anyone know? And where are the two wood pigeons?

Doubletalk From Gov’t: In the current lockdown rules only essential workers are allowed to go to work. Then today we are told this…”Companies and organisations in essential industries (related to food and health production/services, amongst others) which were put under house arrest over the last two weeks, can now open for business on Monday.”
But another press release the same day says, “Spain’s government has asked everybody to wear masks at their workplace from next week. The call comes after non-essential workers will be allowed to return to their duties, after a fortnight-long suspension which saw many people forced to remain at home.”
What? Which is it? Can only essential industries return to work, or can non-essential workers also return to work?
Essential businesses were never under lockdown! They were allowed to continue working, thus the term “essential”. There is a whole list of health, gov’t, telecom, food and transport operations that have continued to be able to work. Construction was stopped as non essential after initially being allowed to continue operations. So what exactly are the essential services that were stopped from working? It is just more of many examples of unclear gov’t explanations that are causing mass confusion. I see it everyday, it’s like all the gov’t press releases are intentionally written to be confusing. They announce all kinds of financial relief are available for struggling small businesses and families. But they don’t mention the slew of documentation, prerequesite registrations and other numerous requirements needed to qualify, that disqualify many of the needy. Or that all the relief is in the form of repayable loans. Banks get bailouts, the poor get loans. If they want to help the needy and deserving they need to freeze rents and utility bills for 3 or 6 months.  Returning businesses will have enough expenses restarting their operations and recovering customers, bogging them down with loans seems counterproductive to overall recovery of society, and just plain mean. Social services offices are closed so disadvantaged persons seeking info on making relief applications must navigate multiple confusing gov’t websites, often with conflicting info, and often on buggy, overloaded websites. Sometimes relief agencies demand obscure documents that are unavailable because the offices that issue those are closed. There is a technical military term for this- FUBAR. Coronavirus patients report strange new symptom- fizzing: Add this to the growing list of the coronavirus‘ awful toll on victims: a symptom that produces a strange buzzing sensation throughout their body. Other symptoms of the deadly disease include a loss of smell and taste, fever, aches, breathlessness, fatigue, a dry cough, diarrhea, strokes and seizures, and for some, no symptoms at all.
But as more and more patients share the effects of the illness online, many are finding they have the strange new symptom, too. One patient, @miafia, who felt the sensation since the first day of her symptoms, described it as “an electric feeling on my skin.” Full story: https://nypost.com/2020/04/10/coronavirus-patients-report-strange-new-symptom-fizzing/

Newly engineered enzyme can break down plastic to raw materials: Researchers in France have engineered an enzyme that can efficiently break down one of the most common forms of plastic in days instead of sitting in the oceans or landfills for decades or centuries. The end result of this reaction is a raw material that can be reused directly to make new plastic bottles.
