Latest Pharmacy Crackdown– small dose aspirin now requires a prescription!:
– Went to the pharmacy to get my monthly box of 100mg aspirin, been doing this for 5 years without issue. Today I am denied, told that low dose aspirin for heart maintenance now requires a prescription. I’m told low-dose aspirin for the heart is risky so a monthly fresh prescription is necessary. However, they will sell me as many boxes as I want of 500mg aspirin (for pain management) without a prescription! I researched it and the pharmacy is correct. Already this year I have encountered the same situation with two other OTC meds, both Enantyum (anti-inflam) and Enalapril (BP) now require prescriptions, although in the case of Enantyum, they will sell you a box of “Brand Name” with 15 pills instead of the normal generic 20 pills, at twice the price. So they expect you to make a Health appointment and waste all that time (in a seriously overburdened system, like they need more unnecessary bookings), or pay a private clinic €20 monthly for refills, all for a €2 box of aspirin.
– This is incrementally bringing in a medical system of total control. Soon, with digital euros expected by 2030, you will only be able to buy pharmacy products with a smartphone app, so they can track every pharmacy product you consume, where you bought the items, and how often you do so. I wouldn’t be suprised if pharmacies eventually quit accepting cash. But be assured it’s for your well being and safety. Naythan, Torrox Costa

SPAIN
The Great Spanish MOT Screwjob– Vehicles over 10Yrs old will now require MOT every 6 MONTHS: {Trans, summary}
– Do you own a car that’s over 10 years old? Get ready, because vehicle inspections (ITV) are about to change. From 2026, the technical inspection will be every six months, not annually.
– The main reason given for this measure is to improve road safety.
– The requirement to have a vehicle inspection (ITV) every six months applies to all vehicles older than 10 years from their initial registration. This includes passenger cars, motorcycles, and light commercial vehicles. However, there are exceptions for historic vehicles or those that are used very infrequently, although specific procedures apply.
– {Points to consider:
*More than half the cars on the road today in Spain are 15yrs or older. So this effects well over half the cars on the road.
*There are already appointments delays, how will the system deal with all the newly required appointments?
*MOT is basically a tax. How do you feel about an annual tax being doubled? -Ed.} Source, Spanish: https://www.andaluciainformacion.es/articulo/andalucia/vehiculos-mas-10-anos-como-sera-itv-cada-6-meses-guia-definitiva-2026/202606081110393398678.html

UGT calls off the truckers’ and bus drivers’ strike after obtaining “written” guarantees on early retirement: {Trans, summary}
– The UGT union has definitively called off the indefinite strike by truck and bus drivers after receiving written information from the Ministry of Inclusion, Migration and Social Security regarding the status of the procedure for establishing the reduction coefficients that would allow these professionals to access early retirement. The union also received assurances that applications that have not been resolved within six months are still being processed and have not been rejected. Therefore, the union is calling off the strike, which was initially scheduled to begin this Monday.
– With this, UGT considers the situation of “absolute administrative gridlock and uncertainty ” regarding the future of early retirement applications already submitted to be over. Source, Spanish: https://www.20minutos.es/nacional/ugt…

Four golf tournaments to benefit charitable and cancer-fighting organizations in Malaga: {Trans, summary}
– Registration is now open for the tenth edition of the Green Solidario, organized by the Real Guadalhorce Golf Club to benefit Nuevo Futuro, the Spanish Association Against Cancer, the Malaga Foundation for Cancer Patients (FMAEC), and the Vicente Ferrer Foundation— four NGOs with a strong presence in Malaga and a well-established reputation. This year’s golf tournaments will be held between July 5th and 25th, using the Best Ball Stableford Pairs format.
– Once again, the Real Guadalhorce Golf Club is fully committed to this charitable initiative, which will take place on July 5th (FMAEC), July 12th (Nuevo Futuro), July 18th (Spanish Association Against Cancer), and July 25th (Vicente Ferrer Foundation), demonstrating its commitment and that of its members to four causes that deserve the support of the Malaga community and its institutions.
– The goal is to surpass the 900-player mark again by combining participation across all tournaments. To achieve this, Club Guadalhorce is offering its members a pass to play all four tournaments for the price of three. Each individual tournament will cost €35 for members and €80 for non-members. Junior players will be charged €25 per tournament if they are club members and €65 if they are not. All tournaments will be played with the morning tee time at 9:00 AM and the afternoon tee time at 2:30 PM.
– Registrations can now be made at the Guadalhorce Club by phone at 952 179 378 and on the website https://guadalhorce.com/green-solidario-malaga/

MIJAS
The fire in Mijas between two housing developments, which mobilized Infoca, has been brought under control without evacuations: {Trans, summary}
– Firefighters brought under control early this morning a fire that broke out on Sunday night in the Malaga municipality of Mijas, between the urbanisations of Pueblo La Campana and La Sierrezuela, without it being necessary to evacuate the residents, the local council reported .
– “The firefighting efforts have been successful and the fire is under control. Firefighters are cooling down the area. No evacuations have taken place,” the City Council stated in an Instagram post, adding that the Local Police have checked the safety of the entire area. MIDDLE EAST
Iran and Israel say they have halted strikes on each other for now:
– Iran and Israel said on Monday they had halted attacks on each other after an appeal from U.S. President Donald Trump that they immediately “stop ‘shooting”, though Tehran said it would resume strikes if Israel continued to hit Hezbollah in Lebanon. However, reports of missile and drone attacks from both sides persist {pic}. Full article: https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/…
PRODUCT ALERT
As 2G & 3G mobile services get phased out, the SOS button in millions of cars, and most older mobiles, will stop working:
– The planned shutdown of 2G and 3G mobile networks across Europe could affect around 64 million vehicles equipped with the eCall emergency system. Many cars built between 2018 and 2026 rely on these older networks to automatically contact emergency services after a serious crash. As operators move to 4G and 5G, older vehicles risk losing this potentially life-saving feature unless action is taken.
– For car owners, the practical impact may be the need to pay for upgrades that make eCall compatible with newer networks. Another possibility is that countries keep at least one 2G network operating until 2030 to preserve compatibility.
– The issue also affects users of older mobile phones that depend on 2G or 3G networks. As these networks are withdrawn, some handsets may lose calling, messaging, or data capabilities, eventually becoming unusable on many networks. Telefónica plans to end 2G and 3G services in 2027 while Orange intends to close 3G in 2027 but keep 2G until 2030. Source, Spanish: https://www.20minutos.es/tecnologia/actualidad/boton-sos…
HEALTH
World Health Organization (W.H.O.) update on the Ebola outbreak centred in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) this weekend confirmed 534 cases of the disease in the area, including 93 confirmed deaths:
– The outbreak, which the W.H.O. identified in May but has conceded could have begun as early as January, was first identified in Ituri province, DRC, and has spread into Uganda. Of the now 534 confirmed cases, 515 of those were documented in DRC and the rest in Uganda. Uganda has documented two of the 92 confirmed deaths and four of the 16 recovery cases. Another 117 people are being monitored as suspected but unconfirmed cases of Ebola. Full article: https://www.breitbart.com/africa/2026/06/08/confirmed-ebola-cases-in-africa-rise-above-500/
