MiniGolf La Herradura:
With significantly cooler weather forecast, now would be a great time to take an inaugural Minigolf La Herradura plunge.
-How long does it take to play Minigolf? In my experience Minigolf is at its most enjoyable when played in groups of four. Assuming you are either beginners or have played a few times previously, your group should be able to play the 18-hole course in about one hour.
-Does the Minigolf course use a lot of water? Minigolf is simply a game of putting a ball into a hole that is normally guarded by various obstacles. The lanes are made of artificial grass, as is our racquet sports area, and the course is made from the existing land with only gravel pathways added. No water is required for the entire plot aside for the restrooms and decorative plants. No worries, amigos, your consciences will be clear.
-Is there parking nearby? The good news is yes. The best bet is to park along the beach’s berm where oddly enough there are no markings. Please visit our website: www.minigolflh.es where a Google map of our location (contact tab) can be found along with photos, etc.
-Location: We could not be easier to find. We are just two small alleys off the beachfront Paseo, directly behind the children’s playground market, Centro de Salud, post office and children’s’ playground.
-Admission fee: Our spring pricing is: six euros for 12 and unders, 8,50€ for 13 and over, as well as family discounts such as 2 adults and 2 children for only 25 euros. This price includes all activities on the grounds and is valid for the entire day. If your jaw just dropped and you’re in a state of disbelief, feel free to ring proprietor Scott Huston for confirmation on +34 603 416 632.
-Opening hours: We are currently open from 11:30am until 2:00pm and 5:30pm until 9:00pm six days a week (closed Wednesday). It is recommended to call in advance though, because I am a one-man band, so to speak, and may be delayed for one reason or another. Also, there may be a private party booked, thus the course closed.
Best regards, Señor Minigolf, Scott Huston / La Herradura

Your skin health matters to us. How you feed your skin is as important as how you feed your body. Why settle for anything less than natural and organic?
As our skin is the first layer of our defence against microbial infections, ultraviolet radiation and environmental contamination it plays a vital role in our health. As we grow older, however, our skin becomes thinner, wrinkled, and more sensitive; hence it requires the use of treatments containing specific ingredients to the care of treating mature skin.
Recognising this need we have created a range of formulae which help
-slow down ageing process by smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.
-improve facial complexion and eliminate blemishes.
At Moonette, we are passionate about health, beauty and plants. Your skin will benefit from the properties of botanic essential oils combined with a selection of nutrients for deep hydration, cell revitalization and antioxidant effect, all sourced from the finest natural ingredients with gorgeous fragrances.

SPAIN
Sanchez Admin Has Still Not Responded To Demands Of EU Ministers Regarding Recovery Funds Distribution: {Translation, summary}
– “Zero tolerance” for Pedro Sánchez’s embezzlement reform. This is where the European Socialists have put the spotlight in the final report on the mission of the European Parliament’s Budgetary Control Committee to Spain, the committee who visited Spain in February to scrutinise what Spain’s government is doing with European funds from the Recovery Plan.
– It should be recalled that on his first day in Spain, Monday 20 February, Hohlmeier had already expressed concern about Pedro Sánchez’s controversial reform that reduces penalties for civil servants who embezzle public funds, aimed at softening sentences for his Catalan pro-independence partners, to the First Vice-President for Economic Affairs, Nadia Calviño, behind closed doors, and warned: “There can be no exceptions in embezzlement”, as reported by Vozpópuli.
– Calviño turned a deaf ear and mentioned the anti-corruption measures that have been approved under the Recovery Plan. When the MEP reminded her of the statements made by the Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, who looks askance at the reform, Calviño threw the baby out with the bathwater and called on her to ask the Minister of Justice.
– The next day, the EPP MEP went back to the Social Security Minister, José Luis Escrivá, with the same result.
– This Wednesday, Hohlmeier has denounced in a press conference that three weeks ago she asked the Minister of Economic Affairs, Nadia Calviño, for the information on the money executed, and she still has not received it. According to Hohlmeier, Calviño promised to give the “real” figure to the European Parliament to be included in the report on the Budgetary Control Committee’s mission to Spain, a document that has not yet been published.
– On 26 April, two months after the MEPs’ media visit, Monika Hohlmeier assured that she had held talks with Calviño about the draft report, to which Vozpópuli had access, and that the minister had promised to provide the real figure for the European funds that have already reached the economy, an issue that remained unresolved during their meetings in Madrid.
– However, to date, and three weeks after that last request, the chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Budgetary Control says she still does not have any figures. “This is our criticism,” said Hohlmeier.
– On Wednesday, she explained that during her visit to Spain she asked about “the real spending of the money”, and the minister’s response was that the government had received 40 billion from the EU and “most of it” had been given to the Autonomous Regions to manage. “So I said: ‘OK, but what have the regions spent?
– “I asked three weeks ago again, but we have not received a figure. That’s why we asked the European Commission to intervene, we want to know the real figure of European funds spent in Spain. That is the criticism we still have. And I hope that the European Commission will clarify it,” he added. Unions call first ever strike in Social Security history over “lack of commitment” at the agency: {Translation, summary}
– The CC OO and CSIF unions have called strikes, in the form of partial stoppages on Fridays in May, in all Social Security centres due to “the deterioration of one of the public services most in demand by citizens”.
– “The lack of staff, the ageing of the workforce, the delay in the management of benefits and the failure to comply with laws and agreements on personnel matters force us to call the first strike in the history of this body,” the two unions said in a joint statement on Thursday.
– The strikes will take place every Friday in May, from 10.30am until 11.30am. The unions criticise that the “lack of commitment” of the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration has led to a “chaotic” situation in which they can only “raise the level of demands”. New drop in petrol prices at the pump- diesel now eight weeks down and 16% cheaper than a year ago: {Translation, summary}
– The collapse in petrol prices at the pumps seems to have no bottom. Petrol now costs an average of 1.599 euros per litre and diesel 1.433 euros, after a respective fall in the last week of 2.6% and 4.2% respectively, according to the European Union (EU) Oil Bulletin published on Thursday with data collected at more than 11,400 service stations in Spain between 2 May and 8 May.
– Gasoline is now in its third consecutive fall and is at the same level as on 2 January, the last week in which the 20 cent reduction approved by the government was in force when the war in Ukraine broke out and fuel prices soared; diesel has not reached such a low level since the same month in 2022, almost a year and a half ago, after eight weeks of falling prices.
– The reductions come hand in hand with a fall in the markets in the price of a barrel of Brent oil, which has also fallen in recent weeks: on Wednesday it closed on the London futures market at 76.38 dollars, 1.34% less than at the end of the previous session, due to the prospect of further interest rate rises, according to analysts.
***Petrol and diesel prices today***
– The price of petrol and diesel today, Thursday 11 May: cents per litre. Compared to a year ago, when the discount was in force, petrol now costs 2.5% less and diesel 16.25% less, while compared to the beginning of 2023, petrol costs 15.6% more and diesel 1.9% less. At current prices, filling up a 55-litre tank with petrol costs 87.95 euros and filling up with diesel costs 78.82 euros, a drop of more than 4 euros for petrol and 15 euros for diesel compared to a year ago. ANDALUCIA
Andalucía’s Olive Harvest Facing ‘Catastrophe’:
– The lack of rainfall and unusually high temperatures for this time of year are threatening the future of a key sector of the Spanish economy: olive groves. Spain is the world’s largest producer of olive oil, but producers fear a situation of true “catastrophe” in just a few weeks if the situation remains the same.
– According to the Spanish meteorological agency AEMET, accumulated precipitation since October 1 has been 25% lower than normal throughout Spain and 50% lower in most of Andalucia, where reservoirs are only 25% full.
– Rafael Sánchez de Puerta, director of Dcoop, the leading olive-growing cooperative in Spain, believes that “looking at the forecasts, it is almost a fact: it will be another bleak year.” If the predictions come true, it could mean the end of many olive plantations. CLIMATE CHANGE
Spain to spend €2 billion to tackle drought: Spain’s cabinet on Thursday approved measures worth more than €2 billion to alleviate the impact of a prolonged drought that has hit its key agricultural sector. The bulk of the money, €1.4 billion ($1.5 billion), will be earmarked to build new infrastructure, such as desalination plants {pic}, to boost the amount of available water, the government said in a statement. Another €784 million will be used to help farmers and ranchers cope with the lack of precipitation which has decimated crops and driven up the cost of livestock feed.
