Axarquia Animal Rescue News 

We are Stella AAR 1879 & Dixie (white), AAR 1880.
We are females but can’t tell you too much about ourselves just yet as we are still very young.
We were found with our 5 siblings on Boxing Day in the bins.
We are about 4 weeks old and eating solids.
Happily we are now safe and being well cared for in a loving foster home but we would love to find our forever home in the New Year.

Cats Need Homes  

Felix, Charly and Max                                                     They are  in need of a new homes.   The owner of these 3 gorgeous domesticated cats has spent 5 weeks in hospital, undergoing numerous tests to try and find out why he is so ill.      As soon as possible he will return the UK to be with his  family, having lost his wife earlier this year.     Felix the black and white cat is a male, neutered,  2 and a half years old.      Charly the tortoiseshell cat is female, spayed, 10years old.    Max the tabby is the sister of Charly also 10 years old and spayed.    They desperately need new homes as quickly as possible, we don’t wont to have to have them put to sleep as they are all loving cats.                                                           The cats are in Canillas de Albaida but we can transport them if necessary.           For more information      Ring Jane 637716703 or Phil 644364431                              or email    janebs@hotmail.co.uk     Thank you

Jan 3:  Invitation to our next CC.  Please RSVP, unless you have already notified me.  In which case, disregard.  2) Reminder:  Chiki’s will be closed from Jan 8th to Feb. 12.       3) Future CCs:  A number of you have contacted me about their enthusiastic response to our first gathering on 12/13/17.  In addition, others have suggested additional programming beyond our regular monthly CC.  I urge all of you to put your thinking caps on and come up with suggestions, no matter how wild they may appear.  For example, Antonio has offered to start a monthly cooking class; some have expressed an interest in storytelling or starting an Intercambio language gathering.  Others look forward to mini-workshops, etc…  We even are planning an informal singing group; by informal I mean there will not be an admission test nor the prerequisite of reading music.  So if you need to actívate your lungs (great oxygenation opportunity), stay tuned…                               4) Spring:  After Chiki returns to a normal Schedule, Antonio and I will focus on more specific programming to be conducted mostly on Wednesday…  This doesn’t mean you are obliged to sign up or attend.  We just want to inform you and ask you to come forth with specific suggestions to enrich the activities already mentioned.     5) So, enjoy a great week as the threshold of 2018 kisses goodbye to 2017!!  We’ll see most of you on Wed. One December night, a thud came at my door. When I looked to see who, or what it was, I found it was a paw. There he stood before me, a dog all clad in red, and in the clearest voice he spoke to me and this is what he said. “I am your Christmas Dog and you must come with me, get your coat and wear a hat there are things that you must see.”        I thought that I was dreaming and still slumped on my chair, but before I could even argue we were flying through the air. I held on to his tail and hollered really loud, “Don’t worry,” he yelled on back to me, “we will soon be on the ground.”       We flew on down so really fast and flying really low, we slid right down a persons roof and landed in the snow.  We were in a town so far away, and wondering what to do, I looked around and shook my head, for this town it shed no clue. All the lights were burning, in houses all around, and all their fires were flaming as families huddled round. “What is here?” I asked the dog as strange as this all seems, “Come with me,” he whispered,” and we headed on with speed. We did not knock upon a door or drop into an Inn, but headed for an alley and there a rubbish bin.       “Look beneath the bin,’ said the Christmas Dog,”and see what you can see.” And so I bent and looked and what a shock for me. A mother and her pups were freezing in the snow, they hid beneath the bin, for there was know where else to go. “There are other families in this world tonight, barked the Christmas dog, “with no fires to keep them warm, no food is served upon a plate, or coats or hats are worn. You can help this family, or will you walk away, just like so many others who have passed them by today.”                                                                                      Standing in my doorway, I thanked the Christmas Dog, for knocking on my door and so he smiled and tipped his hat and waved a friendly paw. I went back to my chair and sighed with great relief, I was not alone this Christmas night or thinking of myself, or wondering of such foolish things of which I could not help. Wanted – Loan of a Guitar  American Coffeehouse guitar jam staring on Torrox Costa beach boardwalk            Hi everyone my name is Buzz and I’m from America.  I am retired and I have been playing guitar (non professionally) for many years.  Hopefully I can rent or borrow a guitar again this winter whilst in Spain.  Anyway, I would like to start an occasional informal low key daytime guitar jam on Torrox Costa beach starting in January and going through April.  I will be staying in Torrox Costa for three months   I like to play, mostly acoustic folk music, Bob Dylan, Crosby Stills Nash, John Denver, Tom Paxton,  the Beatles, Stones, Neil Young kind of stuff.  If you would  like to attend my low key guitar jam on Torrox Costa beach please let me know.  It is completely voluntary and there is no commitment of time or money required; just a chance to bring musicians and lovers of acoustic music together who love “old time” acoustic music.  If you play guitar please let me know.

What’s on –Phoenix Club Programme for January & February                   Trip to Gibraltar 5^th January 2018 – The Phoenix Club are off on their next shopping trip to Gibraltar on Friday the 5th January. Let’s hit the sales!  We have pick ups at at the A1 Garden Centre, Torre del Mar bus station and finally at Algarrobo Lidl at 08.30.  The bus is parked in Morrisons car park and we leave Gibraltar at 16.30.  Due to visa restrictions on entering Gibraltar, please advise if you are a non EU citizen when you book.  Also it is important to remember to bring with you your EHIC card, just in case, and passports are essential.  On the way to Gibraltar we stop to spend a penny and for coffee.  We would greatly appreciate if payment was made before the journey.     The price?  €12pp includes a €1 gratuity for the driver.                                                                                                                        Trip to Alcaudete, Jaen 26^th January 2018    Alcaudete is located at the foot of the Sierra Ahillos, in the south-west corner of Jaén province, in the Sierra Sur region. Its geographical location means that it is half an hour from Jaen, less than one hour from Granada and Cordoba.  In Alcaudete you’ll find history in every corner. Scoot needs a family.

 He is 4 years old, castrated has his passport, chip and vaccinations. He’s a well behaved dog, obedient and loving. He is good with children. He has never shown aggression. He loves other dogs and likes to play. All that we ask is that who ever adopts him gives him plenty of love and looks after him well.   Due to a change of work circumstances he is not getting the exercise a larger dog needs. Long Term Rental Needed-                                                                                               We’ve put the following onto Facebook pages for accommodation etc from everywhere from Motril to Rincón and everywhere in between, but had no response. Can anyone help? We do have specific requirements.                                      Our current rental contract ends in early March.   After Christmas, we shall be looking for a new home to rent in order to move at the beginning of February/March. We shall be downsizing in terms of space and cost, so we’ll be looking for a 2-3 bedroom house (or 2 beds and study area), probably in the campo, with a good-sized fitted kitchen as we both enjoy cooking. A pool isn’t necessary, but a/c would be appreciated – if not fitted now, then at least to sitting room and master bedroom, by next June. A fenced garden is important as we have 2 medium-sized dogs.
