Garden open to visitors: Jardín de la Alpujarra will be open to visitors this weekend on both Friday 2nd of November and Sunday 4th November from 10.00 to 18.00. Take a trip to the high Alpujarras of Granada, see the fresh snowfall on the peaks of the Sierra Nevada, visit the quaint white villages of Pampaneira, Bubión and Capileira, then come and enjoy the changing colours of Autumn in our garden, situated just outside Pórtugos. Cakes and light refreshments always available, and on Sunday 4th November we will be lighting our wood fired oven and serving fresh cooked pizzas and roasted chestnuts to garden visitors. Jardín de la Alpujarra is a not for profit association and asks for a donation of €2,50 per person to visit the garden.

Torrox Pueblo Pool: There are many who have been affected by the closure of the Nerja pool. It would appear that most people have found the pool in Torrox Pueblo to be as good if not better than Nerja. It can be found easily by going up to the Pueblo from the BP Station, turn right to the football stadium, continue through the car park and turn right. The swimming pool is on the lower level.

Saturday Morning – Dog Agility Training Group: We are a long established Dog Agility Training Group who meet every Saturday morning at 10.30am, to train and practice with our dogs, close to Puente Don Manuel. (Near Arkwrights English Shop)

It is a small and friendly group who love to be involved with Canine Agility. Sessions commence at 10.30am until approx.12pm, after which we usually socialise our dogs in a café / bar in Peunte Don Manuel over a coffee etc.
Attendance is strictly by pre- arrangement (to control numbers), so if you are interested in participating, please drop us an email with your name, dogs name, type of dog and a telephone number and we will get back to you to discuss your requirements and make the appropriate arrangements.
Each session is 10€ per dog and lasts approx. 2 and a half hours or so.
Join in with us for some good old ‘Fun in the Sun’ with your best friend, we’d love to see you both.
NB. All dogs must be adult dogs, puppies and very young dogs cannot participate until they are adult.

Royal British Legion events:
-The Royal British Legion Poppy Ball is to be held at the Caves restaurant in Nerja, on Friday 9th November. It is a great chance to dust off the DJ’s and long dresses (you choose which you want to wear) and have a first class meal, followed by a dance. At that time, the church bells rang out for the first time since the war started, so to mark the occasion you are invited to bring a bell (large or small) to ring during the service.

I need recommendations for an eye specialist and surgeon privately: I recently had surgery and am very unhappy with the result and need a second opinion on the condition of my sight. Royal British Legion Poppy Walk: Many thanks to all who took part in our Annual Poppy Walk and to everyone who sponsored the people who walked . The Nerja Players: AN INSPECTOR CALLS

An Inspector Calls is a play written by English dramatist J. B. Priestley, first performed in September 1945 in the Soviet Union and in 1946 in the UK. It is one of Priestley’s best known works for the stage, and is considered to be one of the classics of mid-20th century English theatre. The play takes place on a single night in April 1912, focusing on the prosperous upper middle-class Birling family, who live in a comfortable home in the fictional town of Brumley, “an industrial city in the north Midlands”. The family is visited by a man calling himself Inspector Goole, who questions the family about the suicide of a young working-class woman, Eva Smith (also known as Daisy Renton). Long considered part of the repertory of classic “drawing room” theatre, the play has also been hailed as a scathing criticism of the hypocrisies of Victorian and Edwardian English society.
Doors open at 18.45 hours and the programme will start at 19:00 hours. We use the premises of the Nerja Bridge Club – entrance is through the blue doors at the top of Calle Castilla Perez 1, Nerja.
