We’ve already had our first case processionary larva. Pedro, a Mastine of a little over a year showed too much curiosity and licked the dreaded larvae. His owner brought us almost immediately because he saw that Peter had very swollen tongue and was salivating excessively. We administered serum since it was not able to drink water . We administered a potent anti- inflammatory and a dose of buprenorphine for pain. Also washed the tongue with water mixed with vinegar, simply with a syringe without touching the tongue. My Spanish friend has lost his beloved little West Highland terrier mix dog. He went missing about one week ago near the Budhist retreat in Trapiche near Velez Malaga and hasn’t been seen since. His name is Zorrini and he is microchipped. If anyone has any information on him or has seen him roaming around please contact us either by email or mobile 642589382.

Boating around Torrox Costa I have been coming to Torrox regularly for 12 years or so and have always been surprised by how little boating and sailing activity there is in the area. I know of the boatyard on Playa El Penoncillo but even that doesn’t seem to have much activity. There are kite-boarders and occasional wind-surfers at Playa El Playazo and on the beach near El Morche but little more. I am retiring and hoping to spend more time in the area later in the year. I have done some dinghy sailing before and would like to take it, or some other boating, up again. Does anybody know of any reason for the lack of activity on this part of the coast have any advice on taking it up? Please contact: andy.wilson1908 @ gmail.com

What’s on-The Torrox Spanish History Group

This is a new group which I set up in October 2017 in an advert placed in The Digame which led to an tremendous response and we have since had four very successful meetings as well as days out. It has been set up to encourage, to motivate and stimulate members to read and enjoy Spanish History. It is a place where like minded people share their research, give interesting talks, sharing ideas and have days out visiting the abundance of historical sites in the area. The talks are on particular periods and areas of interest or areas of history of members choosing and by studying history we hope we will begin to understand the past. Spanish History is exceptional in that it has been occupied by non European, non-Christian Islamic rulers since the 8^th century. The Christian reconquest was a long process ending only in 1492 when the last Moorish kingdom of Granada fell. But the Arab occupation of Spain has left an abiding legacy especially in Andalucia. There have been the Phoenicians who came here seeking its iron and tin and who were expert sailors, the Carthaginians and we all know who Hannibal considered to be one of the great military commanders in history, the Romans, the Visigoths and the the Arabs. Spain’s history is the most diverse in the whole of Europe. We meet every first Tuesday of the month. Animal Rescue – Help Please

I am looking after an abandoned / stray / lost Bodeguero – 2 years old, no chip, no collar. Found in the Coín campo; now named Rosita and her two puppies (2 days old; father unknown)
The vet’s view is that this domesticated dog definitely belongs to someone
I can’t continue to look after them. I need to urgently re-locate them

Indeed, I am currently the Treasurer of The Arts Society Fuengirola Branch, (formerly known as Costa del Sol DFAS) and, in that capacity, would like to invite you to attend their February lecture, which is being sponsored by Blevins Franks. Please join us for a glass of wine after the lecture in the Martini Bar, on the Square. The fascinating story of a talented and beautiful woman. Pupil of Fauré, painted by Renoir, Toulouse-Lautrec and Vuillard, patron of Ravel, Stravinsky, Satie, Diaghilev and others, Misia Sert was also a close friend of Coco Chanel. Misia was at the very heart of modern art and music in Paris; an incredible life story! The fee to attend the lecture would normally be €10.
