Free Newspapers in Torrox ?
Since the recent closure of the newsagents on the N340 in Torrox Costa I have been unable to find anywhere else to get the weekly “freebie”. Can anyone out there in Digameland tell me where I can now obtain the SUR in English either on the Costa or in the Pueblo. Answers to Digamextra please as other people may like to know. Thanks Graham
Missing Person Sought
My name is Eduardo, I am of Swiss origin and for this reason not familiar with DigameXtra. The idea to contact you comes from Elaine Jones. We would like to find a missing person.
Until a bit more than 4 years ago I was in close contact with an Englishman whose name is John. We were working in my garden regularly, installing irrigation systems and everything else. He and his lovely wife left the country and their plan was to stay in England.
About 2 months ago I met them by chance near Carraspite where they had lived. He promised to contact me, but unfortunately didn’t.
Georgette and I would so much like to meet them again in order to re-establish our relation. All I know is his first name John. He knows more than anyone else about plants and gardens.
My question to you people is whether you can help us to find them.
Any information is appreciated.

Tracing Origin of a Number Plate
Hi. Could anyone help me identify this car number plate, I have seen this car twice now. I take a bit of interest in foreign car number plates, but try as I might can not ID this one. The letters are a J with an O underneath the bar of the J. I know its not Morocco so if any one can help could they please let me know.

Services Available- Holiday WiFi ?
A lot depends on what you want to do with your WiFi. If you do NOT want to watch TV online, and perhaps 2Gbytes is sufficient (Skype voice onl, e-mail, surf), then you probably already have everything you need.
A spare “Smartphone”, “iPhone”, any “Android” telephone or a 3G/4G router.
Go to The Phone House, or similar and get yourself a SIM card from the operator “Orange”.for 15 Euros you can fill it with 2Gbytes “Mobile Surf”. In the settings menu, select “WiFi Hotspot”and share your internet connection. You only need to enter the name of your WiFi network and give a password for connection. Then you can connect all your family’s surf tablets and home country mobile telephones without incuring overseas roaming charges in Spain.
Just be careful that the kids do not use up all the data on Youtube or Filmon.tv. When the money does run out you still have a slow connection, ok for e-mail for the rest of the month.
If you have a 3G/4G router at home then bring that and use the same SIM card in the router.
Be careful when you fill the card: you do NOT want telephone calls. but “Mobile Surf” only. If you don’t make it clear then you may get 15 Euros of phone calls and no surf. you will also need your passport or NIE number to get a SIM card.
If you will stay near a restaurant, club or library then you can often use their connection. If you see the network is available then go to the restaurant and have a beer, then ask for the WiFi password. They usually have an unlimited data agreement so it will not cost them anything, in fact it is good for business. Just be sure to use a firewall if you use such a network.
You can alternatively get a local Yoigo SIM card and that gets filled with 1GB data every time you put some money in it to make telephone calls. That will also give you local calls cheaper than your home phone roaming.

Following on from Aiveen and the English Nurse’s post I would like to offer psychological / psychiatric support. I am a British qualified and registered clinical psychologist (UK & Spain) I am more than happy to offer free of charge help and/or advice. I worked for the NHS for 28 years before moving to Spain. When I first arrived I tried to offer my services on a voluntary basis whilst obtaining my registration in Spain. Not one organisation (including Cudeca) was interested at that time. The general consensus was that by offering my service for free I would be denying a Spanish psychologist a job. So I set up a private practice and have been busy ever since due to the lack of psychological support in this region. That is not intended as a criticism just an observation of the different emphasis on mental health services. So if anyone is feeling particularly desperate about their situation do contact me and I will try to help.

Responses – Capital Gains Tax
My advice is to be wary of all those well meaning people who will give advice in the best of faith, and this includes me.
Please seek advice from a UK Tax Expert.
Capital Gains Tax applies to the sale of all property, main residence or otherwise, and.in some cases you are given 100% tax relief (but it still falls under Capital Gains Tax), in others the amount on which tax relief is granted will vary.
It all depends on the individuals situation and history of living in and the use of the house. There are many rules, regulations.
For a good overview visit the UK Government web site given at the end of this message.
Please be wary of well intentioned advice, all house sales are subject to Capital Gains Tax and the myth that it does not apply to main residences is because in the majority of cases they are granted 100% tax relief, but in some cases tax has to be paid.
Please seek advice and read the below (this will also link you to other Govt. sites giving greater detail about Capital Gains Tax.

Recommendation –Car Air Comditioning Services
Others have already recommended Chris at cpaircon but we also would like to recommend him. We went over to Chris’ workshop on the Torrox/Competa Road to have our RAV4 air con re-gassed. Chris was extremely pleasant and did a thorough job. He has all the equipment and all the knowledge. He emptied, cleaned it of air and moisture and re gassed it, all for a very reasonable cost, we are so pleased to have our car air con fully operational especially now the weather is so hot.
A big thank you to Chris and a recommendation to use his service – he knows his stuff. Chris also recommended the Pavo Real restaurant nearby for lunch, where we had an enjoyable and reasonably priced meal.
