MOONETTE – Organic Skincare for Mature Skin: Indulge in timeless self-care this Valentine’s Day with Moonette’s organic skincare. Elevate your skincare ritual and let love glow, exclusively for our dear 60 plus QUEENS!
We are a Torrox-based company specialising in the creation of formulae which help prevent premature skin ageing. We are committed to making effective products at affordable prices.
Your skin health matters to us. How you feed your skin is as important as how you feed your body. Why settle for anything less than natural and organic?
As our skin is the first layer of our defence against microbial infections, ultraviolet radiation and environmental contamination it plays a vital role in our health. As we grow older, however, our skin becomes thinner, wrinkled, and more sensitive; hence it requires the use of treatments containing specific ingredients to the care of treating mature skin.
Recognising this need we have created a range of formulae which help
-slow down ageing process by smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.
-improve facial complexion and eliminate blemishes.
At Moonette, we are passionate about health, beauty and plants. Your skin will benefit from the properties of botanic essential oils combined with a selection of nutrients for deep hydration, cell revitalization and antioxidant effect, all sourced from the finest natural ingredients with gorgeous fragrances.
Naturally, we care about our planet and feel the need to help reduce the sheer volumes of plastics waste that are generated daily around the globe. Presently, we are minimizing the usage of plastic materials in our production while seeking alternative forms of packaging. To help reduce pollution we are asking all local customers to recycle or reuse their Moonette skincare containers, and offering a small discount on future purchases to customers recycling containers.

TORROX
The Torrox Town Hall ignores the concerns of the neighbours about the Endesa substation: {Translation}
– Concern among residents of Torrox Park has reached a critical point with the construction of Endesa’s electricity substation in close proximity to three schools and numerous homes, some within alarmingly close proximity. The Plataforma Ciudadana, in response to this growing concern, has contacted an expert geobiologist in the field, Joan Carles López Sancho, who highlighted in an interview with Radio Torrox on Friday 26th, the lack of consideration in current legislation regarding the potential risks of prolonged exposure to electromagnetic waves.
– We are only defending the health of our children, their future and we demand that the authorities apply the principle of prevention according to the 1815 resolution of the Council of Europe”. The group stresses in a letter that, according to López Sancho, the current legislation is “obsolete” and does not take into account the risks that prolonged exposure over time can entail, among which are childhood leukaemia, as assured by numerous experts and published studies such as that of Dr. Soto of the University of Guadalajara, who claims that the disorders in children can range from memory deficit, lack of concentration to cases of leukaemia.
– Meanwhile, the Plataforma Ciudadana Contra la Subestación de Torrox Park criticises that “the Consistory of Torrox has just approved a budget of 31.5 million for 2024 plus another twelve million in surplus funds, but continues to ignore the citizens’ demand to offer Endesa an alternative to stop the works” and they add that “they also refuse to take advantage of the legal loopholes that could lead to the licence being declared null and void”.
– During the plenary session on Monday 29th in which the budgets were approved, members of the Platform wanted to present the Mayor Óscar Medina with a dossier containing medical studies on the subject as a silent protest against his total inaction. The tension became evident during the day and the mayor even threatened to expel one of the members”.
– The families are considering further action while they hope that the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which is investigating the case, will take a favourable decision and stop the works as soon as possible.

ALMUÑÉCAR
32 migrants of North African origin arrive in Almuñécar by their own means including one a minor: {Translation}
– A total of 32 men of North African origin, all adults except one of them, in apparent good health, have arrived by their own means to the beach of Velilla, in Almuñécar, on the coast of Granada, on Thursday morning. Sources consulted by Europa Press in the Guardia Civil, which has taken custody of the migrants in Velilla, have indicated that these people have arrived around 8.40 hours, running from the fast boat that has released them on the beach before continuing their route.
– They will be transferred to the Port of Motril, where they will be placed at the disposal of the National Police and, in the case of the minor, the social services, following the protocol stipulated for these cases, which also includes an initial medical check-up by the Red Cross.
– The Local Police of Almuñécar has also participated in the custody of these migrants after their arrival in Velilla, as municipal sources have detailed to Europa Press, after an arrival that has aroused the curiosity of the neighbours of the area on Thursday morning. Farmers hurl eggs and stones in Brussels as EU summit begins:
– Farmers threw eggs and stones at the European Parliament on Thursday, starting fires near the building and setting off fireworks amid protests to press a summit of European Union leaders to do more to help them with taxes and rising costs. Protesters tried to tear down the barriers erected in front of parliament – a few blocks from where the summit was taking place – but police pushed them back with water hoses. Police also fired teargas.
– A local official said a statue on the square where farmers were gathered near the parliament with their tractors was damaged. Major thoroughfares in Brussels, the heart of the European Union, were blocked by around 1,300 tractors, according to a police estimate. Farmers from Italy, Spain and other European countries also took part in the protests. Security personnel in riot gear stood guard behind barriers where the leaders were meeting at European Council headquarters.
– Farmers say they are not being paid enough, are choked by taxes and green rules and face unfair competition from abroad. Full article: https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/angry-farmers-descend-brussels-take-protest-eu-summit-2024-02-01/

Another academic scandal at Harvard adds to the wave of academic paper fraud. “Entirely Counterfeit”- Harvard’s Chief Diversity Officer Plagiarized At Least 40 Times According To Complaint:
– Weeks after the resignation of Harvard President Claudine Gay over a plagiarism scandal, the university’s chief diversity and inclusion officer, Sherri Ann Charleston, has been accused of doing the same.
– According to a Monday complaint filed with the university, as well as an analysis by the Washington Free Beacon’s Aaron Sibarium, large portions of Charleston’s work very clearly appears to have been lifted from others without so much as quotation marks. She even took credit for her own husband’s work, according to the report.
– “The 2014 paper appears to be entirely counterfeit,” said Peter Wood, the head of the National Association of Scholars and a former associate provost at Boston University. “This is research fraud pure and simple.”
– Prior to joining Harvard in August 2020, Charleston was the chief affirmative action officer at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After joining Harvard, she served on the staff advisory committee which helped choose Claudine Gay as president in December 2022, the Harvard Crimson reports. Charleston taught gender studies courses at the University of Wisconsin, while her bio describes her as “one of the nation’s leading experts in diversity” whose work involves “translating diversity and inclusion research into practice for students, staff, researchers, postdoctoral fellows and faculty of color.”
– It apparently also includes copious use of ‘ctrl-c’ and ‘ctrl-v.’ “Sherri Charleston appears to have used somebody else’s research without proper attribution,” said former Villanova University political theory professor, Steve McGuire, who reviewed two of Charleston’s papers, the Beacon reports. The Andalusian left charges the Junta for stating that “boys have penises and girls have vulvas”: {Translation, summary}
– The left is accusing the Junta de Andalucía of launching an LGTBIphobic campaign through educational guides published by the Andalucian government and aimed at Andalucian families, which recommend explaining to children, among many other things, that “boys have a penis and girls have a vulva”.
– On page 12 of Educación afectiva y sexual en la familia (Affective and sexual education in the family), the guide explains how parents should act when talking about sexuality with their children. In a survey in which parents have to answer yes or no, they ask: “I explain to them that boys have a penis and girls have a vulva”. If the answer is no, the guide advises the family that “it’s time to do it”.
– The statement that “boys have penises and girls have vulvas”, however, has generated much unease among the radical left, where parties such as Podemos have accused the Junta de Andalucía of “violence against children”. In fact, Martina Velarde, Podemos spokesperson in Andalucia, has recently shared a comment on her social networks pointing to the Andalucian government for this fact and assuring that “trans childhoods exist and denying them is violence”. According to the tweet, saying that “boys have penises and girls have vulvas” is “contrary to the Trans and LGTBI Law of Andalusia, the Law on Children and the International Treaty on the Rights of the Child”. ‘I should not have written ‘A Clockwork Orange’’: How Anthony Burgess came to disown his own novel:
– British author Anthony Burgess was inspired to write his best-known novel, A Clockwork Orange (1962), by the uncivil drift that he perceived among the youth of his time. That is why, a decade later, when headlines in the vein of “Police hunt the Clockwork Orange rapist gang” or “Child dies in Clockwork Orange war” started to appear in the press, he could not help but feel that something had gone tremendously wrong.
– “The misunderstanding [of the novel] will pursue me until I die. I should not have written the book because of this danger of misinterpretation,” he wrote in 1985 in Flame into Being, a biography of D.H. Lawrence where he compared the scandal caused by Lady Chatterley’s Lover (1928) with the controversy surrounding his popular dystopia. “If a couple of nuns are raped in the Vatican, I get a call from a newspaper. They have turned me into some kind of expert on violence,” he lamented in a television interview. Burgess, however, was clear that his problems did not necessarily stem from the book, but from Stanley Kubrick’s 1971 film adaptation.
