Andrew Graham- Dixon examines the history of French art, revealing how it emerged from a struggle between tradition, revolution and rules of the citizens. He compresses centuries of culture into three thematically linked chapters. This will be followed by a lively discussion. Classic ballet in Malaga: There is to be cavalcade of ballet at the Cervantes Theatre in Malaga on Wednesday November 27 with a double bill performed by the Russian National Ballet of Sergei Radchenko.
First, there will be a complete performance of Romeo and Juliet the Shakespearean tragedy set to music by Russian National Ballet of Sergei Radchenko and then a selection of scenes from eight other famous ballets mainly by the Russian composer including excerpts from Swan Lake.
This is one of the many touring Russian ballet ensembles and was founded by Sergei Radchenko, who was a legendary soloist in the Bolshoi Ballet during the days of the USSR. Tickets cost from €15 to €45.

Sporting heroes are on the Costa del Sol for The Marca Sport Weekend Marbella: The event, organised by theMarbella City Council and the leading sports newspaper, will bring together more than 80 professionals and legends from a wade range of sports in 50 free activities. The event will begin on Friday with several highlights such as meetings with Boris Becker and Mick Doohan, the so-called ‘Craziest match in history’, which will feature footballers Vero Boquete, Diego Forlán and Carlos Cuellar with a hundred youth players.
There will also be a talk and screening of the Spain-Malta match won by Spain 12-1 and considered the most incredible feat in the history of Spanish football, despite some detractors who believe running up high scores is counter productive to the overall health of the sport. Should make for an interesting discussion.
On Saturday morning the programmes starts at 10.15 am, with the talk titled ‘Making a star’ by Toni Nadal, followed by a meeting with world record holder Hicham El Guerrouj and Fermín Cacho. There will also be an exhibition by the 2010 BMX world champion, Viky Gomez and simultaneous chess games against Anatoli Karpov. Football fans will be able to view a debate on the Spanish national leagues with the presence of the president of La Liga, Javier Tebas, and Atlético de Madrid’s Enrique Cerezo, among others. New Christmas lights on Calle Larios, Malaga Central: The lights, all new, are to be turned on 29 November, there will once again be three daily musical light shows, 6.30pm, 8pm and 9.30pm. The theme is a forest, decorated with suns, angels and autumn leaves. The decorations will be supported by 22 arches, and will be made up of 730,000 individual bulbs. The lights will be kept on for 40 days and the total cost will be 806,000 euros, 532,000 of which will be spent on the Calle Larios decorations. Aside from Calle Larios, 76 other city centre streets will feature decorations this festive season, including Calle Santa Lucía, Calle Nosquera and Calle Comedias, all for the first time. Apple Mobile Device Update Alert!: iOS 13.2.2 causes battery havoc- short life and overheating!
Apple’s iOS 13.2.2 update, which was pushed out to fix a bug in the previous update that essentially broke multitasking on the iPhone and iPad, has itself bought a new and annoying bug to the iPhone. Battery life is now reportedly so bad that one can watch their battery life ticking down while browsing the web, composing an email, or using Twitter. The problem doesn’t seem to be down to specific apps, but instead seems to be a widespread operating system problem. Refrain from installing this update to iOS 13.2.2 until it is fixed; ignore the warnings in the press last week that encouraged users to do this update asap. Good News for the Mobility Impared: In the latest episode of Smart Regions, new electric tricycles that resemble Roman chariots have begun appearing in France. They are calling the vehicle the “Benur” and the project is backed by the EU’s Cohesion Policy. The vehicles can also be pedalled with the rider’s hands and are already a hit with people with impaired mobility.
To begin with, the vehicles will be located, on two sections of Viarhona: Miribel-Jonage and Tain-Tournon. The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region wants to be the ‘flagship’ territory for this mobility project. ViaRhôna project manager Yves Ronot is excited by the potential of the inclusive vehicle. Vibraphonists are not abundant in Spain and even less with proven international category such as Arturo Serra, a musician born in Picassent (Valencia), who had his training as a percussionist and his first interventions in classical music. His concerns and his love for jazz made him gradually introduce himself into the music of the twentieth century.
He has participated in numerous jazz festivals such as Malaga, Ibiza, Estepona, Logroño, etc. He has a solid record career behind him with more than a dozen albums in his name. Winner of the first prize of the Getxo Jazz Festival.
He is currently a professor at the Philharmonic Orchestra of Malaga.
