Day Trips:
-Ceuta on the 18th of August.  The price is 65€ per person and includes the coach from and to Torrox, fast-ferry Algeciras to Ceuta and back and 90 minutes guided tour (local guide and coach included) in Ceuta. Itinerary:  Leave Torrox about 5.00 am for Algeciras making several pick ups on the way and one comfort stop. We leave Algeciras on the ferry at 9.30 and we need to be in Algeciras 1/2 hour before departure. – We will arrive at Ceuta at about 10.30 – Have a guided tour by bus for about 1.30 hours. – The rest of the day is free time until about 5.00 pm when we  board the ferry which will leave at 5.30 pm – Arrive in Algeciras at 6.30 and board the bus – Arrive in Torrox between 9.00 and 10.00 pm depending on where you will be dropped off. The return journey also includes a comfort stop.  Free Time note: Depending on the number of people going, the weather conditions and also people’s preferences there are a number of possibilities such as a boat trip, the Arabic baths, etc. However everyone will be given a map of the town with a list of possible places to visit.
-24th of August, we are watching the flamenco show “Falemcolorquiano” in Los Jardines del Generalife in Granada. This is a flamenco show by the Ballete Flamenco de Andalucia during July and August. It is based on poems, songs, etc. of  poet Federico García Lorca. We depart from Torrox in the evening for Granada. We have a break for a snack at the Nevada shopping Center and then bus to the show in the Alhambra, which starts at 22.00 pm. After we will return to Torrox. Price is 33€ per person and includes tickets for the show and bus trip. We ask people if they could pay for the tickets 2 weeks before the trip date as we need to make several payments up front.

Pets

Has anyone seen Squeak? Missing For 2 Months! Has anyone seen Squeak or know where she is please, I’ve just learned that she has not been seen by my house/cat sitters since just after I left in late May. Near the bridge in Puente don Manuel, by the track which runs to the olive press at the back of the shops and bars. Have you seen her? Have you “rescued” her thinking she has no home? Have you adopted her or taken her in? She is 3-4 years old, spayed but not ear clipped and no chip. I need to know where she is and whether she is safe or even dead. Bus Travel Along Coast: Be aware Alsa buses do not provide extra buses if they become full along the route; if at a major station that sells tickets they will at least be able to tell you it’s sold out, saving you a long, hot, boring wait. At stops that do not have a ticket office you just have to wait till the next bus and hope there is room. This morning in Torrox Costa I was waiting for a bus to Nerja. Two in a row, 11 and 11:30, would not allow anyone to board as they were full. I didn’t wait to see if it was going to be 3 in a row. -Naythan

Music Festival “Nerja ciudad abierta. Music in other spaces”: Ventana Abierta presents the 2018 edition of the music festival “Nerja Ciudad Abierta, Música en otros espacios”, in which we invite you to get to know hidden corners of the town. This festival is different in that the concerts take place in private spaces, outdoors. We open new doors so we may discover Nerja under the stars.
In each of our cultural projects we aim to offer memorable concerts and shows. This makes us consider each and every event with special care and with high standards of excellence. This time we are certain that the programmed events are “not to be missed”. The three events are Jazz, Jazz-Flamenco, and a Flamenco dance show. Wanted, Eradication of Pests: I live on the Campo and despite having very close and sealed fitting doors and windows I get Millipedes into my house, they have a very nasty bite and on four occasions I have had to have medical treatment, they are very difficult to catch and kill. Are your plants dying? Hi, have any readers experienced losing potted plants recently, I.e dying ? Well this ugly beast maybe the culprit. Having recently had three tubs of flowers , carefully watered etc die I emptied one tub and found three or four of these creatures. On digging deep into the others I found the earth was infested with young ones. From what I can gather from Google they are either the grub/ larvae of the rhinoceros beetle or something else which apparently lives on roots !! Perhaps someone may have some more information regarding them. Strangely though they were all in bagged earth purchased from a garden center. The ‘thing’ is approximately two to two and a half inches long and as thick as a man’s small finger. Any answers please. David ,Caleta, 625266792.

Electricity Fraud: Over the last 18 months or so, a number of my clients have had extortionate bills from a certain electricity supplier as a result of “fraud”. In each and every case a technician has made a report stating that a “shunt” has been added to the meter to bypass the counter and “steal” electricity. I have successfully reclaimed a number of these and am on a mission to ensure the culprit is found – on all the Reports I have seen so far it is the same engineer and almost identical wording! If anyone has had a similar experience please get in touch with me. The area is ostensibly Competa but any area would be interesting.
