Easy Way to Shrink Pics: Photo submissions have a 1Mb size limit, no exceptions. Larger pics will not display in some reader’s emails and may cover other submissions, I certainly can’t allow that! Wood Fired oven cookery course: Join us in a superb mountain location in the Alpujarras for a full one day wood fired oven cookery course. Great ‘hands on’ experience using a large wood fired oven, we will be cooking a variety of food, from bread and sweet dishes to baked vegetables and a curry. The day will include a tour of our garden (also open to the public on specified days) and will culminate with a group meal enjoying the proceeds of our labours. Torrox Pueblo Art Group: We start the end of summer Art Group on Wednesday 12 September to Wednesday 17 October. Everyone is made welcome and we cater for the absolute beginner to the more established artist. We start at 10.30 – 1.30 this Wednesday from La Casa Restaurant situated in the main square in Torrox Pueblo. We cover most subjects, portraiture, animals and landscapes. Los Amigos Quiz Returns Tonight: The ever popular Wednesday Night Quiz returns to Bar Los Amigos on 12th September following the Summer break. -Every Wednesday Starting 12th September – Art & Craft Group. Join friends in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The Art group meet and help each other with various forms of art, water colours, pastels etc. The craft group are currently making cards in various styles including Iris paper folding and Zentangle. -Monday September 17th – Spanish Language tuition restarts. Time 10.00 to 13.00.
-Monday September 17th – German Coffee meetings re-start. Time 15.00 to 17.00.
-Monday September 17th – Art Appreciation Group. The group will use “The Private Life of Masterpieces” which was a BBC arts documentary series which told the stories behind great works of arts languages. The original narrations were done by the actor Samuel West and Tim Pigot Smith. Roger will give a short introduction about the artist. Then, we will watch the DVD. This will be followed by a lively discussion. In September we are looking at “Sunflowers” by Vincent van Gogh. Refreshments available to purchase. Donation of 2 Euros. Time 10.30 at the Centre

Salud 101 Update, Clinica Rincon has changed hands: We are members of Clinica Rincon’s very useful Salud101 scheme which gives discounts on private medical treatment. One of its advantages is it does not refuse pre-existing conditions. We just found out that Clinica Rincon has changed hands and the scheme is now closed to new members. I have tried to get more information but the receptionists I talked to didn’t seem to know much. They think that existing memberships will continue and can be renewed, at least for now. Does anyone have more information, or can anyone recommend a similar scheme suitable for ‘topping up’ health service cover?
