Certified First Aid Course: for work or if you live in remote locations. Certified Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work Course (EFAW) in Nerja on the 26th April at the Bar La Raqueta in conjunction with Stockwood Consulting. It is a one day course and the cost will be €95 and includes a certificate that is valid for 3 years. All apparatus and consumables are provided. Ideal if you live in a remote location or need a first aid qualification for work. Cookery Workshop at Casa Montes Negros: Join us for our Cookery Workshop at Casa Montes Negros near Trapiche, on Thursday 26th April, when we fire up the wood oven and cook a delicious menu. All the recipes can be made in a regular oven, and the workshop is suitable for both novices wanting to learn some great recipes and experienced cooks looking for new ideas or just a lovely day out with like minded foodies. Local Customs Inquiry?

Burriana Car Park CLOSED and only open July and August. Why is the Burriana Car Park, built at considerable expense and only open, we are told, 2 months in the year (July, August)? This must be hurting restaurants/businesses on Burriana Beach. This is likely to result in job losses for waiters/chefs etc when clients are unable to find parking spaces. Last year they managed to open the car park from April to September, but closing at 22.00pm. Can the local Nerja politicians not sort this out? Nearby Frigiliana doesn’t have the same problem. They too have an expensively built car-park which has automatic machine operated entry, but it is open 24 hours a day, all year round.

Torrox Spanish History Group: The Torrox Spanish History Group enjoyed a very successful meeting with on Tuesday 3rd April with Joan Fullon the writer and author of over 10 books as well as books on Spanish History including “Daughters of Spain” giving a talk about the Spanish Civil War. Her presentation focused on one place, Malaga and on a specific time, February, 1937. There were nearly 70 people present and more people joined the group whose membership has exceeded all expectations since the group was first set up in November 2017. There are now have nearly 80 people in the group. However not everyone comes at once as many people travel backwards and forwards between their own countries and usually we have between 25 to 30 at each meeting, we are also lucky in that we have many different nationalities.

Our next meeting will be on the 1st May with talks on the Caliphate’s of Spain and the Romans. Our talk in June will be on the Habsburg’s. The group meets every first Tuesday of the month at El Parquesol restaurant in El Morche at 11am. If you would like to join the group then please email me at patricianerja at hotmail dot com.
