Live Big Band experience at Silks: A massively exciting weekend lined up for this weekend at Silks! Of course all of your football & sporting action throughout the weekend as always the best viewing in Torrox.

Samothraki: We came across a cute little Greek Restaurant on the paseo in Torrox Costa. It is a little difficult to find as it is in a side lane off the paseo. The name is “Samothraki” and the address is Paseo maritmo, Bloque 80, Baja. The food and service is excellent and the prices very reasonable. We shall return and highly recommended.

Seacrest Hog Roast in Aid of CAS: Join us at Seacrest for our annual Hog Roast which is always an entertaining evening of good food, fun music from the 60-00s played by Kapt’n Krap and help us raise funds for the Costa Animal Society (CAS). 20 Euro per person includes a delicious meal and a half a bottle of wine per person (veggie options available if arranged when booking). AAR: “Axarquia Animal Rescue (AAR), is a charity, (no. 10567 Spain), manned solely by unpaid volunteers, that rescues abandoned and mistreated animals in the Axarquia region. We do not have a holding kennels, so when an animal comes into our care, we have to find foster carers for them, until our caseworkers can find them their permanent home. The role of the foster carer is therefore vital to our work and we are always seeking more of these wonderful people to care for our ever increasing workload. Restaurant Recommendation: Madras Curry House, Torrox Costa
This family run restaurant opened earlier this year and serves the best Indian/Nepalese food I’ve ever tasted! The food is cooked by two uncles, one cooks the curry and the other tandoori with front of house run by Deepak and his aunt. They all speak English. Carry outs also available. Please please give it a try as business is very slow and they need support to succeed. Someone else said it’s the best Indian in Costa Del Sol! Try it and see for yourself. Pets

Four Kittens for adpotion: were found at Torrox Costa rubbish bins, abandoned in an old fruit crate. They are all males and between 10 and 12 weeks old. Since 6 weeks they live in a foster home, but desperately need to find permanent homes. They eat dry food and use the Litter Box. They are very lovely and calmly kittens that love to play and being cuddled. We will help with sterilisation if and when they are old enough. More pics on request. If you can help, please contact:

Advice Wanted, Funds for UK non-residents: Could any reader share their experiences of continuing to have UK PEPs or ISAs following tax-residency outside the UK. My understanding is that one can continue to hold such assets provided that they were started before leaving. Car Boot/Market: Lake Vinuela area Sunday 2nd September. We are now back to our normal schedules after our summer break. The regular “1st Sunday of the month” Car Boot sale/market is at El Pantano Restaurant car park, overlooking Lake Vinuela, on Sunday 2nd September 9.30am to 1.pm. Easy to find on the A356 towards Colmenar. Drive over the bridge crossing Lake Vinuela and the car park/bar is just ahead on the right hand side. Plenty of parking.
There are always bargains galore, old and new.
– Household and garden items for sale on many of the stalls
– Local grown fruit and veg.
– Plants, shrubs, flowers and herbs.
– Greetings cards.
– Always a good selection of DIY tools.

Come along and enjoy a morning browsing and picking up a few bargains at this well established monthly market, which attracts visitors from far and near. A super location. The restaurant has shaded terraces overlooking the lake and many customers sit and enjoy a coffee or a tapa and a drink and catch up with friends and acquaintances for a chat. Many even stay and choose lunch from the varied menu available. Bar is open from 9.30am serving coffee/drinks/food.

Singers Welcome: The new Competa Choir, lead by Tom Robinson, will be starting the new season on 3rd September. We are looking for more singers to take part in two events later in the year. Auto air conditioning: I have been providing advice, service and repair of motor vehicle air conditioning systems since 1998. Due to a big increase in gas price I can only hold the 35€ re gas charge until my current stock of gas runs out, after witch to cost will be 40€ up to 600g of gas and then 3€ per 100g thereafter. (On average it takes 600g for a re gas).
I am happy to provide you with a free of charge air conditioning health check.
At the same time as your system re gas I can also polish your dull and crusty headlights.
