Epic Ride for CUDECA!
Just to let everyone know that I completed the ride up from Algarrobo Costa to Competa on Monday June 6th.
I wanted to thank everyone for their support on the day and the generous donations that continue to come in, some from as far away as Australia!
Apart from the two online donation websites there are 3 sealed Cudeca tins which will be heading back to Cudeca this week for opening and counting. As soon as I have a final figure I will share that with you all.
Thank you once again, your support most certainly gave me wings!

Keeping Competa Clean…
Would the person who kindly picks up their dog faeces but then places the bags on peoples doorsteps & windows sills, please remove them completely & either place them in the bins provided or take them home with you. It is not very pleasant for others & I cannot understand why you even bother to pick them up in the first place if you are not going to discard them in the proper manner. Please keep Competa clean! B&V.

Services Available – Free Spanish Lessons
I can thoroughly recommend the free Spanish lessons given by Sergio in Torrox Costa – he’s an excellent teacher, very patient and with a perfect Castilian accent.
I’ve been attending these classes all this year and my spoken language has improved enormously. He encourages everyone to participate and makes the classes interesting and fun, it’s a very relaxed atmosphere, but he also makes sure you understand everything and gain from the classes.
So why not sign up for year 2 starting in September?
The more students that sign up the better choice of levels and times Sergio will be able to provide.
Register in the government building behind Lews near the Torrox Costa lighthouse, he is there every weekday morning until30 June.

I just have to second Jeremy’s endorsement of Kevin and Jenny
for valeting a car.
When I needed to valet my Citroen Picasa, it was too was filthy inside, mainly with mud and dog hair and, for a very reasonable price, they came to my house (near Velez Malaga), cleaned the car throughout and left it gleaming and smelling fresh once more. They told me exactly when they’d be coming and just worked until they were happy the job was done to their (and my) satisfaction. Lovely people and a lovely job done. Give them a call on 693 567 351.

We recently had an infestation where we access electricity cables to our house. I found various suggestions online and tried a few with some success (long term can’t yet say…)
Boric acid (3€ a sachet from farmacias) can be used to make paste with water and something sweet like honey or savoury like peanut butter (depending on ants’ preferences). Unfortunately our ants seemed to ignore this. I’m wary of using boric acid though because of other wildlife and visiting granddaughter.
Most effective for in the garden (so far) has been ground nutmeg sprinkled liberally where you see ant activity – cheap and safe
They were also massacring our Dama de Noche, so I tried a solution with washing up liquid and a little olive oil steeped with garlic cloves. I only used this solution once and the plant is now vigorous and healthy.

So all you do is remove those spaces before contacting a contributor.
New Rules for Blog
