Public Holiday- Tuesday 1 Nov: In Spain, every 1 November is All Saints’ Day to remember Christian saints who do not have their own Saint day. This is a national public holiday.
– This year it falls on a Tuesday, so that, in principle, it could not unite with the previous weekend, and would not give rise to any bridge (long weekend). However, there are locations, spread out over the different points of Andalusia, in which on the 31st of October classrooms will remain closed.

SPAIN

The price of electricity will rise by 20% this Monday and will once again be the highest in Europe: {Translation}
– The average price of electricity for regulated tariff customers linked to the wholesale market rises 20.56% this Monday compared to Sunday, to 163.51 euros per megawatt hour (MWh). With this increase, the price of electricity in Spain will be the highest in Europe for the second consecutive day.
– This Monday, the reference price for gas-fired power plants is once again above the 40 euros/MWh ceiling, specifically at 40.49 euros/MWh, which means that the so-called Iberian exception applies.
– In the auction, the average price of electricity in the wholesale market – the so-called ‘pool’ – stands at 164.07 euros/MWh on Monday.
– The cheapest time for electricity will be in the early hours of the morning, from 03.00 to 04.00 hours, with a price of 114.60 euros per megawatt hour (MWh) and the maximum price will be between 21.00 and 22.00 hours, with 250 euros/MWh.
– To this pool price is added the compensation to the gas companies that must be paid by the consumers benefiting from the measure, consumers on the regulated tariff (PVPC) or those who, despite being on the free market, have an indexed tariff, which on this occasion is slightly negative, -0.56 euros/MWH.
The highest price in Europe
– This Monday the price of electricity in Spain will be the highest in Europe for the second consecutive day, above countries such as France and Italy (144 euros) or Germany (145.2 euros).
– However, the average price since 15 June, when the Iberian derogation came into force, is significantly lower in Spain (141.93 euros) than in France (359.22 euros), Italy (396.54 euros) or Germany (312.76). Spanish garlic growers demand European investigation into “fraudulent” garlic: {Translation, summary}
– The delegation from Asaja’s National Garlic Sector has managed to get opened “investigations” into the “fraudulent” entry of Chinese garlic into the European Union (EU) and the import of Egyptian garlic without tariffs.
– They are concerned that “Egyptian garlic is entering” the EU “without paying any tariffs”, making a tough competitor for Spanish garlic, with a production that is already larger than that of Spain, but at a much lower selling price, because “their production costs, even including the cost of transport to Europe, are infinitely lower than ours”.
– What is happening regarding Chinese garlic is that fresh garlic, which is transported “in cold containers” at a temperature of “between -2 and minus -4 degrees centigrade”, arrives in Europe with the classification of frozen garlic, according to the applicable legislation would have to be transported “at -20 degrees”. In other words, they enter Europe as supposedly frozen garlic, which does not pay customs duty, but then “they are sold as what they are, fresh garlic”, thereby committing “tax fraud” of major proportions.
– The president of Asaja’s National Garlic Sector warned that “fresh garlic is coming in from China, but as if it were frozen”, which constitutes “a tremendous tax fraud”, as the import of fresh Chinese garlic is subject to “a quota”, which when exceeded leads to the application of “a dissuasive tariff of 1.2 euros per kilo”, while Chinese frozen garlic “has no quota or tariff”. ANDALUCIA

The Risk of Vacant Properties- Andalusia is the region with the second highest number of squats in the second half of the year: {Translation, summary}
– In Spain, nearly 9,000 ‘squats’ were reported in properties between January and June this year, almost half of which took place in Catalonia, which was ahead of Andalusia, the community with the second highest number, with 1,276, according to the latest data provided by the Ministry of the Interior and collected by Europa Press.
– Specifically, the total number of complaints for occupation of property registered by the State Security Forces and Corps amounted to 8,857 in this period. Of these, 3,770, or 42%, took place in Catalonia, with the province of Barcelona leading the way. There, 2,838 were recorded, more than three times as many as in Madrid, with 813.
– The second community with the most reported incidents of this type in the first half of the year was Andalucia, with 1,276 (14% of the total). Of particular note were the 402 in Seville, followed by 225 in Malaga and 208 in Cadiz.
– Interior Ministry blames “the increase in this type of crime in recent years” on the “coincidence of various factors”. Specifically, it highlights two: that there is a “high number of empty properties” and also “people losing their homes due to debts or loss of employment due to the economic situation resulting from the concatenation of the Covid health crisis, the logistics and international production crisis”, aggravated by the invasion of Ukraine, and its “serious impact on the price of energy and basic foodstuffs”. West says no biological weapons in Ukraine, Russia disagrees:
– The U.S. and its Western allies on Thursday dismissed Russia’s claims that banned biological weapons activities are taking place in Ukraine with American support, calling the allegation disinformation and fabrications.
– Russia’s U.N. ambassador said Moscow will pursue a U.N. investigation of its allegations that both countries are violating the convention prohibiting the use of biological weapons.
– The dispute came in the third U.N. Security Council meeting on Ukraine-related issues that Russia has called since Tuesday. This one focused on a 310-page document that Russia circulated to council members this week alleging there is “military biological” activity in Ukraine with support of the U.S. Defense Department.
– The document includes an official complaint to the council, allowed under Article VI of the 1972 biological weapons convention, and a draft resolution that would authorize the Security Council to set up a commission to address Russia’s claims.
– Ukraine does have a network of biological labs that have gotten funding and research support from the U.S. They are owned and operated by Ukraine and are part of an initiative called the Biological Threat Reduction Program that aims to reduce the likelihood of deadly outbreaks, whether natural or manmade.
– In his briefing, Russia’s Nebenzia accused the U.S. of conducting work in Ukraine with deadly pathogens – including cholera, plague, anthrax and influenza – that couldn’t be justified under the guise of public health. He said documents and evidence recovered by Russian authorities suggested a military application. Maps: US DoD, apokalypsnu.nl & weaponews.com.

Risk of soaring food prices and global food crisis after Moscow’s decision to end grain export corridor following drone attack on its fleet:
– The United Nations, Nato, European Union and US have all urged Russia to reverse its decision to pull out of a deal that allowed Ukrainian grain exports via the Black Sea, amid fears of a global food crisis.
– Moscow announced it was suspending the UN-brokered arrangement in response to a dramatic attack in the early hours of Saturday by Ukrainian airborne and underwater drones on its naval base of Sevastopol in Crimea. F1 News- Max Verstappen sets F1 season wins record with 14th victory:
– Max Verstappen set the Formula One record for wins in a season Sunday at the Mexico City Grand Prix, where he scored his 14th victory to break the record shared with Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel.
– Lewis Hamilton finished second for the second consecutive week. He might have had a shot at his first win of the season but Mercedes made the wrong call on a tire change that gave Verstappen control. Perez finished third on his home track for the second consecutive year – earning deafening cheers even though a Mexican driver has yet to win at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. MOONETTE – Organic Skincare for Mature Skin

We are a Torrox-based company specialising in the creation of formulae which help prevent premature skin ageing. We are committed to making effective products at affordable prices.
Your skin health matters to us. How you feed your skin is as important as how you feed your body. Why settle for anything less than natural and organic?
As our skin is the first layer of our defence against microbial infections, ultraviolet radiation and environmental contamination it plays a vital role in our health. As we grow older, however, our skin becomes thinner, wrinkled, and more sensitive; hence it requires the use of treatments containing specific ingredients to the care of treating mature skin.
Recognising this need we have created a range of formulae which help
-slow down ageing process by smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.
-improve facial complexion and eliminate blemishes.
At Moonette, we are passionate about health, beauty and plants. Your skin will benefit from the properties of botanic essential oils combined with a selection of nutrients for deep hydration, cell revitalization and antioxidant effect, all sourced from the finest natural ingredients with gorgeous fragrances.
Naturally, we care about our planet and feel the need to help reduce the sheer volumes of plastics waste that are generated daily around the globe. Presently, we are minimizing the usage of plastic materials in our production while seeking alternative forms of packaging. To help reduce pollution we are asking all local customers to recycle or reuse their Moonette skincare containers, and offering a small discount on future purchases to customers recycling containers.

Telefónica asks customers to change their WiFi router password after suffering a cyberattack:
– The company has confirmed to Europa Press that there has been “unauthorised access” to the router configuration data of a group of Movistar and O2 clients. Telefónica has recommended to its fixed connection customers that they change the WiFi router password in their homes after reporting a cyberattack that has not involved the theft of personal data.
– Telefónica stressed that, with the data obtained, the alleged cyber criminals could only connect to the victim’s WiFi if they happened to be near the customer’s home. Full article: https://www.surinenglish.com/spain/telefonica-cyberattack-20221028180537-nt.html

Tens of thousands of protesters in Prague call for the purchase of Russian gas and the exit from NATO:
– Tens of thousands of people gathered in this capital Friday to demand that the current Czech government give way to an administration which would adopt a neutral foreign policy, end military support to Ukraine and resume purchases of Russian natural gas.
– “Resignation, resignation,” chanted the protesters, many of them waving Czech flags and carrying posters calling for their country to withdraw from NATO and the European Union.
– The independence day protest marked the third time since the start of last month that large numbers have taken to the streets in Prague to call for the resignation of center-right Prime Minister Petr Fiala.
– Police sources said that Friday’s turnout was smaller than the 70,000 who took part in the first demonstration on Sept. 3, but the protesters filled Wenceslas Square on the 104th anniversary of the secession of Czechoslovakia from the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Elon Musk takes control of Twitter and immediately fires top executives:

Bees rolling balls around hailed as first evidence of insects at play:
– In 2017, scientists in the UK carried out research suggesting that the small brain of the bumblebee may be more sophisticated than we realize, demonstrating how they could be trained to roll balls into a hole to score a sugary reward. The team has now delved deeper into the realm of entomological cognition with a new study demonstrating how the insects play with balls even when there’s no reward involved, constituting what they say is first-of-a-kind evidence of play behavior in insects That they were doing so of their own volition suggested to the researchers that perhaps they were enjoying themselves, in the same way a dog might play with a fluffy toy or a kitten might tear apart a ball of yarn. FINANCIAL

Elderly people’s organisations consider the 9% increase in the pension supplement to be “insufficient”: {Translation}
– The Federation of Andalusian Organisations for the Elderly (FOAM) has described as “insufficient and unacceptable” the 9% increase in the supplement to non-contributory retirement and disability pensions, social assistance from the social assistance fund (FAS) and the minimum income guarantee subsidy (SGIM), in 2023 announced by the Regional Minister for Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality, Loles López, during last Thursday’s plenary session.
– The president of FOAM, Martín Durán, detailed in a press release that the 9% increase would mean “an increase of 13.39 euros per year”, that is, “1.11 euros per month”. “The supplement would go from the current 148.81 euros to 152.20 euros,” he said, stressing that “it is shameful and disgraceful to present this increase as a fabulous achievement”.
– Durán recalled that the Junta de Andalucía’s supplement “is the lowest of all the autonomous communities that have established them”. He explained that the highest is in the Basque Country with 4,811 euros per year, followed by Navarre with 2,772, while at the bottom is Aragon with 404 euros per year, Extremadura with 253 and Galicia with 220 euros.
– “From FOAM we asked the Andalusian government to increase the allowance gradually so that at the end of the legislature, the region would leave the last place it currently occupies and reach the average of the regional allowances. For them we requested that by 2023 the supplement would be 298 euros per year, which is the figure resulting from the average of the three lowest communities, except Andalusia”, explained the president of the senior citizens’ organisations, regretting that the Junta “has ignored our proposal”. CULTURE

A loaf of bread at 17 pesetas and a cinema ticket at 200 pesetas- this is how the cost of living has changed since the PSOE’s historic victory: {Translation}
– 1982 was the year of the World Cup with Naranjito as ambassador, Spain’s entry into NATO, the inauguration of ARCO, the death of Chanquete, the introduction of the 40-hour working week, the visit of Pope John Paul II to Spain, the emergence of the Movida, the arrival of Maradona in Spain… and of course, the historic victory of Felipe González’s PSOE, which ushered in a decade and a half of socialist government and which today marks 40 years. Spain had only just begun its democratic journey six years earlier and the country embraced the socialist leader with the same enthusiasm with which it threw itself headlong into modernity.
– It was also a year that will always be remembered because fashion and hairstyles at the time were anything but conventional. A woman’s blouse cost 1,554 pesetas (9.40 euros) and a man’s jacket cost 5,630 pesetas (34 euros). It was Mecano’s debut and also the year of the shoulder pads and backcombed hair. But how much have prices changed since then?
Advertising page in an issue of ABC from 1982 ABC Archive
– If we compare the figures of the early 1980s with those of today, it is clear that Spain is not the same as before. Tourism, petrol, basic foodstuffs and leisure have shot up. Inflation has also increased, although it is true that the Minimum Interprofessional Wage (SMI) then was 28,400 pesetas/month (about 171 euros) and now, in 2022. The square metre of housing was almost 61,000 pesetas (370 euros) compared to the 1,685 euros it costs now.
– You could buy a newspaper at the newsagents for 35 pesetas a day (21 cents, when now the daily ABC is worth 1.90 euros during the week) and fill up your car for 80 pesetas a litre of super petrol, that is 0.48 cents (as of yesterday, in Spain, it is worth 1.91 euros a litre). A car which, by the way, you could buy for a total of 1,239,000 pesetas (almost 7,500 euros) in the case of the Ford Escort, named car of the year in 1982. Today, its equivalent would be an Opel Corsa from 19,000 euros.
– Smoking was also considered a much cheaper vice than it is today. 30 pesetas for a pack of Ducados (0.18 euros) and 75 pesetas for a pack of Fortuna (0.45 euros). Today, the prices in tobacconists’ shops are 4.75 and 4.85 euros a pack of the respective brands. If we go into the field of alcoholic beverages, the 70cl red bottle of the famous Scotch whisky Johnnie Walker used to cost 870 pesetas (just over 5 euros) in Pryca supermarkets (now Carrefour); today, it is over 13 euros. And if we are talking about cubatas – or ‘cubalibres’, as they were called at the time, whether rum or gin – you could have one for 100 pesetas (0.60 euros) and a beer in a bar for half that, 50 pesetas (0.30 cents).
– By the way, you could go to the cinema for 200 ‘pelas’ (1.20 euros), when now the standard price is 9.90 euros. In other words, the price has quintupled. Eating a set menu at the corner bar in your neighbourhood for only 256 pesetas (1.54 euros) and now you can’t find any restaurant for less than 10 pesetas.
– A single EMT ticket used to cost 30 pesetas (0.18 euros) and in 2022, it will vary between 1.50 and 2 euros depending on the number of stations you travel. The price of a 10-trip ticket was already 160 pesetas (0.96) in December 1982, while now the figure is more than 12 euros.
– As far as the shopping list is concerned, the difference in prices is truly abysmal. A kilo of beef used to cost 424 pesetas (2.55 euros); (2.55 euros; now about 13 in some supermarkets), a loaf of bread in the grocery store cost 17 pesetas (the equivalent of 10 cents now), two litres of La Masía brand olive oil cost 350 pesetas (2 euros), a box of María biscuits cost 112 pesetas (65 cents) and Mimosin fabric softener cost 99 pesetas (0.60 cents) for 2 litres on the supermarket shelves. Now, it costs almost 6 euros. Source, Spanish: https://sevilla.abc.es/espana/barra-pan-pesetas-entrada-cine-cambiado-coste-20221028233817-nt.html

American Music Icon Jerry Lee Lewis Is Dead at 87:
– Jerry Lee Lewis (“The Killer”), piano-bashing rock ‘n’ roll founding father, swaggering country shouter and the last surviving member of the inaugural (1986) class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, has died. His death was announced on Friday (Oct. 28).
– Lewis is known for recording such rock standards as “Whole Lot of Shakin’ Going On,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “Breathless” and “High School Confidential.” Both “Whole Lot of Shakin’ Going On” and “Great Balls of Fire” have been named to the Grammy Hall of Fame. Sometime collaborator Kris Kristofferson told USA Today that Jerry Lee Lewis is “one of the best American voices ever.” A 2022 inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame, Lewis is one of just 16 people to have been inducted into both the Country and Rock and Roll Halls.

Junta Announces New Holiday and Commitment to “Redistribution of Wealth” {YIKES!}: {Translation, summary}
– The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, confirmed this Thursday in the plenary session of Parliament that 4 December will soon be recognised by the Governing Council as the Day of the Andalusian Flag, with the argument that it will be added to 28 February as the Day of Andalusia on the grounds that “we want to add without subtracting” to “commemorate both dates on the complicated path towards Autonomy and our Statute of Autonomy”.
– Later in his speech promoting Andalucia’s autonomy, he reinforced his commitment to radical socialism, “Investments are good, we live in a global world”, defended the president of the Junta, who assured that “we put limitations on those who come to speculate”, although he assured that “we are not in favour of economic intervention”, although the role of the public administration should be “to serve to redistribute wealth and protect the most vulnerable”. Salmonella alert in hamburgers distributed throughout Andalusia except Jaén: {Translation, summary} 27/10/2022, 22:33
– The Directorate General of Public Health has learned of the presence of Salmonella in beef hamburgers of the brand ‘Harburdehesa’ with expiry date 02/12/2022.
– The withdrawal from the market affects batch 300995, pack of two units of 130 grams and pack of two units of 200 grams, of the brand ‘Burger Meat Hamburdehesa’ Heifer of the Pasture, as reported by the Board in a statement.
– In Andalusia, the product has been distributed in the provinces of Cadiz, Seville, Huelva and Malaga in Maxico, El Jamón and Cash Lepe establishments, as well as in Carrefour chain shops in all Andalusian provinces except Jaén. It has also been distributed to the Community of Madrid and the autonomous city of Ceuta, although other redistributions are not ruled out.
– People who have the specific product and batch included in this alert at home are advised to refrain from consuming them and to return them to the point of purchase where they bought them.
– In the case of having consumed this product and presenting any symptoms compatible with salmonellosis (mainly diarrhoea and/or vomiting, abdominal cramps, accompanied by fever and headache, in an average period between 12 and 72 hours after consumption), it is recommended to go to a health centre.

Pass It, Then Read It- Juanma Moreno criticises the early entry into force of the solidarity tax, before the details have been released:
– {Congress passes another law before providing the details to officials, thus avoiding proper debate before passage. The national gov’t is now making it a habit to pass controversial laws, and leave it to the regional gov’ts who disagree to take their claims thru a lengthy court challenge process. This is exactly the same method the gov’t used to create and enforce the illegal Covid lockdown, which the courts have now overturned. All the violation fines collected must now be returned. – Ed.}
– The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, has criticised this Thursday the central government’s bringing forward to 2022 the entry into force of the solidarity tax (for assets of more than three million euros) and has warned that “it will have its appropriate response” from the Andalusian government.
– Speaking to journalists in Parliament, Moreno said that his government is waiting to know the fine print of this new tax and once they have the text, the legal services of the Junta will study it in detail and a decision will be taken as to whether or not to appeal in the courts.
– “This attack on the fiscal autonomy of Andalusia will have its appropriate response,” said the president, who criticised “the plan of permanent improvisation” that the central government has in fiscal policy.
– He indicated that the new solidarity tax is only known so far “a glimpse” and that it seems that it will be retroactive to 2022, but it is not known exactly “what it will consist of”.
– In his opinion, “what is clear is that it is an absolute attack on the fiscal autonomy of Andalusia, unfounded, unjustified and unjustifiable from all points of view and that its only objective is to invalidate the tax cuts that the Junta has made”.

EUROPE

The EU agrees to ban the sale of new gasoline and diesel cars from 2035: {Translation, summary}
– The sale of gasoline and diesel cars and vans has its days numbered in the European Union: 2035 is the deadline. This was agreed this Thursday by the negotiators of the European Parliament, the Council -the Governments of the 27- and the European Commission, who have closed the first negotiation of the EU environmental package, known as fit for 55, a strategy to reduce emissions to 55% by 2030 – with an eye on 100% by 2050.
– Thus, the co-legislators agreed on a CO2 emission reduction target of 55% for new cars and 50% for new vans by 2030 compared to 2021 levels; and a 100% CO2 emission reduction target for new cars and vans by 2035. At San Francisco restaurant, pups chow on filet mignon:
– San Francisco is a foodie heaven with plenty of Michelin-starred restaurants. And San Franciscans love dogs. So it might come as no surprise that an entrepreneur has decided to combine the two passions, creating what’s believed to be the first restaurant exclusively for man’s best friend.
– Dogue, which rhymes with vogue, opened last month in the city’s trendy Mission District. For $75 dollars per pup, doggie diners get a multiple-course “bone appetite” meal featuring dishes like chicken skin waffles and filet mignon steak tartare with quail egg.
It also includes a mimosa and a baked treat for the pup’s human.

NOTE: YOU MAY ADDITIONALLY INCLUDE A LOCATION TO MEET OR PICKUP,
BUT YOUR LOCATION IS REQUIRED IN ANY CASE. Simply saying "for collection in Town" is NOT sufficient. Your location, and the collection location may not be the same place.
If selling an item from a location different from where you reside, you must include both.

For example: "...Buyer collects in Nerja, John/Malaga"
Why? DigameXtra covers a large area. So, for example, readers in Motril are unlikely to make recommendations, or call about most for-sale items, if they know you are located in Coin. As for including both locations in for-sale posts, the buyer needs to know where to collect the item, but they will also want to know where you are from in case there is a problem. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Insiders Say Masks On Public Transport At Least Until March ’23: {Translation}
“It was agreed that the current measures would be maintained until March 2023, when the situation will be reassessed. This is the proposal that was submitted to the Public Health Commission,” explain those close to the Alerts Committee. The Ministry of Health, on the other hand, assures that “the Alerts Committee did not recommend removing the masks from transport, and did not set any definite dates in its recommendation”. This group of advisors, on the other hand, insists that it was agreed to maintain this preventive measure until March next year.

ANDALUCIA

This is how you can get up to 20,000 euros to renovate your home in Andalusia: {Translation in full} 26/10/2022, 10:42
– The deadline for submitting applications for aid to renovate houses in Andalusia began on 17 October and will end on 30 June 2023. This is the time available to owners and communities to apply for a subsidy for the refurbishment of buildings and homes approved by the Andalusian Regional Government and charged to the Ecovivienda Plan.
– The budget for this aid comes from the European Next Generation funds and has 133.5 million euros, which will benefit more than 25,000 Andalusian families.
– Not just any work or reform will be eligible for this subsidy from the Andalusian government, but it is a measure that seeks to improve the energy efficiency of homes in our community. The amount of the aid can reach around 20,000 euros.
– What kind of modifications will allow to increase the energy efficiency of homes by at least 30%, which is what is required by the Junta de Andalucía to receive this subsidy? Improving insulation in facades and roofs, installing renewable energy systems such as photovoltaic panels, solar panels for hot water, aerothermal or biomass boilers, or changing windows or lighting systems.
– In addition, if the maximum amounts are reached, the projects may include measures to improve the accessibility of the building, such as the installation of lifts. The grants are compatible with each other, as long as they do not subsidise the same object.
– The programme for the rehabilitation of buildings, whether houses or blocks of flats, will receive 74 million euros. This programme subsidises between 40, 65 and 80 percent of the work, depending on the level of savings in non-renewable energy consumption achieved. The maximum amount is 18,800 euros per dwelling, as the subsidy can be for both the community of neighbours and for each single-family house. Half of the payment of this aid will be made in advance, i.e. at the start of the work.
– The programme to improve energy efficiency in housing will have 52 million euros in subsidies that can reach up to 40% of the total cost, with a maximum of 3,000 euros. In this case, it will also be necessary to certify a primary energy consumption saving of at least 30%.
***Formalities to apply for rehabilitation aid***
– The forms to fill in to apply for some of these grants can be found in the BOJA where the plan was notified and which can be found below:
After submitting the application, the citizen will receive a communication notifying him/her that the process has begun. In principle, no documentation is required, although it is logical to have the projects studied by the time the application is made.
After this, a provisional resolution will be issued reserving the credit and then a period of ten days will be given to present the project or report and all the documentation.
Remember that the deadline for submitting applications is 30 June.
***Grants for the building book***
– In addition, the call for applications has also been opened to draw up the building book, with 2.3 million in subsidies. The maximum amount in the case of single-family dwellings and multi-family buildings of up to 20 dwellings will be 700 euros plus 60 euros per dwelling. In the case of multi-family buildings with more than 20 dwellings, it will be 1,100 euros plus 40 euros per dwelling.
– This line also includes subsidies for the drafting of refurbishment projects, with 5.2 million euros. The aid for single-family homes and buildings of up to 20 homes will be 4,000 euros plus 700 euros per home. Meanwhile, in buildings with more than 20 dwellings, it will be 12,000 euros, plus 300 per dwelling, with a maximum subsidy of 30,000 euros. Junta announces four-billion-euro SOS plan to tackle drought in Andalucía:
– Juanma Moreno, the president of the Junta de Andalucía, announced on Tuesday 25 October, that the regional government has drawn up a four-billion-euro SOS plan to generate more water resources and alleviate the drought. The money will be invested between now and 2027 on works and crucial measures to guarantee supplies.
– The president of the Andalusian government also expressed his concern that the government in Madrid had reduced investment in water-related projects in this region by 12% in next year’s Budget, and said he was waiting for an explanation. He also said the Junta is calling on the EU to be sufficiently flexible about the use of Next Generation funds so these can be used to finance crucial works.

Entire village now affected by water problems and restrictions in Periana:
– Water restrictions in the village of Periana in the Axarquía have now reached the entire village and its outlying areas. For the last five weeks around two thirds of the 3,100 registered residents have been unable to drink the tap water as the small quantity of water that remains in the Guaro well is so cloudy it is undrinkable.
– Now, as of last weekend, restrictions have reached the other third of the population. Around a thousand people who live in hamlets and outlying areas are experiencing intermittent water cuts to ensure levels in the municipal water tanks.
– The town hall has asked the residents of Baños de Vilo, La Negra, Cuesta de Carabina, Huerta de Antonio Díaz, Camino de la Huerta de Antonio Díaz, Aldea de Moya, La Muela, Cortijo Blanco and Cañizares to refill their tanks and cisterns whenever they can, as they will not be able to have water for periods of around 36 hours at a time. As If Nazis Were Not Bad Enough, Now Russia Plays The SATAN Card- Putin Appointed ‘Chief Exorcist’ as Kremlin Whips up Satanic Panic: {Newsweek}
– Russian President Vladimir Putin has been named “chief exorcist” by the head of the country’s Orthodox Church as the Kremlin seeks to redefine the goals of its invasion of Ukraine.
– Putin, when he invaded the neighboring country on February 24, used the term “denazification,” saying that was the goal of his so-called “special military operation,” but now his security council is shifting to the phrase “desatanization.” Aleksey Pavlov, assistant secretary of the security council of the Russian Federation, is now calling for the “desatanization” of Ukraine, saying that there were “hundreds of sects” in the country where citizens have abandoned Orthodox values.
– “I believe that, with the continuation of the special military operation, it becomes more and more urgent to carry out the desatanization of Ukraine,” Pavlov said, according to state-run Russian news agency Tass. “Using internet manipulation and psychotechnologies, the new regime turned Ukraine from a sovereign state to a totalitarian hypersect,” said Pavlov.
– When Putin said in September that he had annexed four territories in Ukraine following sham referendums, he accused Western nations of “outright Satanism.” “The dictatorship of the Western elites is directed against all societies, including the peoples of the Western countries themselves. This is a challenge to all,” Putin said. “This is a complete denial of humanity, the overthrow of faith and traditional values. Indeed, the suppression of freedom itself has taken on the features of a religion: outright Satanism.” Full article: https://www.newsweek.com/putin-chief-exorcist-kremlin-desatanization-ukraine-security-council-1754912

Sender's First Name / Nearest Town

An inexpensive annual maintenance service is far cheaper than waiting until the device is annoyingly slow and popping up error messages, and thus in need of an expensive repair. Protect your computer & your privacy with annual servicing. The Doctor is closed on weekends. Always include the patient’s make and model number when making support requests. DoctorLaptop’s Website & Contact Info: doctorlaptop@protonmail.com or call 675 993 069 after 12pm, missed calls returned asap. My contact details are shown every day in the Sponsor’s Section.

MALAGA

Date set for the first private high-speed trains to operate between Malaga and Madrid:
– Iryo’s Frecciarossa 1000 trains will offer the route from 31 March 2023 and tickets are already on sale for the inaugural and subsequent journeys. Includes stops at Antequera and Cordoba.
– The Ilsa company will be operating the new service and each train will be able to carry 460 passengers. There will be two a day in each direction but the plan is to increase this to five a day in the future.
– This is the first time Renfe has had competition from a private operator on the Madrid-Malaga route, and the Iryo tickets are cheaper. For example, if booking well in advance passengers can do the journey with Renfe for 59.35 euros one-way, while it would cost between 34.28 and 43.75 euros with Iryo. Nevertheless, at the moment there is the option of a basic fare on the new trains for 26 euros on 31 March, while Renfe is also offering a 25.45 euro ticket on its normal AVE service for the same date. Godspell opens at Antonio Banderas’ Soho Theatre in Malaga in November: The musical Godspell will be opening at Malaga’s Soho Theatre on 3 November. This Broadway production from Stephen Schwartz and John-Michael Tebelak was first performed back in 1971, but this will be a new version in Spanish. It has been produced to the same high standard as previous shows at the theatre, but there is one big difference this time: Antonio Banderas will not be on stage. Photo: ñito salas. Tennis News- Top ranked Spanish teen sensation Alcaraz wins at first Swiss Indoors in three years: Top-ranked Carlos Alcaraz rallied to beat Jack Draper 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 in the first round of the Swiss Indoors on Monday. The first Basel tournament since before the COVID-19 pandemic was intended to be Roger Federer’s hometown comeback on tour. But the Swiss great ended his career last month because of a persistent knee injury.
– The 19-year-old Alcaraz and 20-year-old Draper had a combined age of less than Federer’s 41 years, and both were playing for the first time at Basel where he won a record 10 titles from 2006-19. TECH

WhatsApp back online after 2hr global outage hits users, then iMessage goes down: iMessage appears to have stopped working for some users, just hours after rival platform WhatsApp was hit by a major outage. The problems meant users were unable to send or receive messages using the iMessage platform, which comes built into iPhones, iPads and other Apple devices. Text messages should send from within the iMessage app as usual. The issues also appeared to be affecting Apple’s FaceTime service, which provides video and audio calls, making phones appear to have broken down. (I am also hearing about cellular phone outages in a variety of locations, all over the world, on radio news; have not seen any articles supporting that yet. -Ed.) Full article link.

SCAMS

Expats in Spain warned of ‘property scam’ as mum and son left ‘homeless’ after €320k Mijas home auctioned off for €28k: Victoria Jenkins and her son Sam were reportedly left homeless after Spanish authorities ‘secretly sold’ their two-bedroom apartment in the Costa Del Sol ‘to pay for ex’s debt’. The ‘secret’ auction, which she says was without her knowledge, saw the property go for just €28,000 to pay for debts allegedly incurred by her ex-partner, Lee Cohen, the official property owner. She claims after finally getting permission from the court to see her case file, she discovered eviction notices and letters about the sale were being sent to the wrong address.
– “All the court documents have the correct address, but the notifications were sent to one that doesn’t exist. Because it looked like I was not responding, the judge automatically ruled in their favour without me knowing about it or being given a fair hearing or chance to put my side and legal documents forward. When it looked to the judge that I was not responding he granted them the eviction and they had no problem finding me and banging on my door when it was time to kick me out. I don’t know how these people sleep at night.” Full article: https://euroweeklynews.com/2022/10/25/expats-in-spain-warned-as-mum-and-son-left-homeless-after-e320k-home-sold-for-e28k-in-property-scam/

‘World’s dirtiest man’ dies at 94 after first bath in over 60 years:
– An Iranian loner, also popularly known as the “dirtiest man in the world” for not taking a shower for more than half a century, passed away at the age of 94. The man named Amou Haji was afraid of water and had not bathed for over 60 years. He is reported to have died on October 23 (Sunday) in the village of Dejgah in Iran’s southern province of Fars. Haji was single and avoided taking a shower in the fear of “getting sick”, according to IRNA News. However, a few months ago, he was forced by the villagers to wash for the first time.
– Haji used to live in an open brick hut and he had faced some “emotional setbacks in his youth” that made him stern about not taking a bath with water or soap. A report published in the Tehran Times also claimed that Haji would eat roadkill, smoke a pipe filled with animal excrement, and believed that cleanliness would make him ill. Some pictures on social media also show him smoking multiple cigarettes at once. NOTICE!
Submissions for posting in sections below

Sender's First Name / Nearest Town

SPAIN

DGT’s major change to communications with companies and legal entities that comes into force on 1 November: {Translation}
– From 1 November, the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) will introduce an important change in the way it issues its notifications. The change will affect companies and legal entities, so, for the time being, other drivers will be able to ignore this measure.
– Specifically, from 1 November, the DGT will stop sending notifications – fines, appointments and other formalities – on paper to legal entities. From that moment on, notifications will be sent exclusively electronically through the Electronic Road Address (Dirección Electrónica Vial, DEV). In this way, the DEV subscription data will be accessible to the administrations in charge of traffic matters, which will notify electronically on their own platforms.
– But what is the Electronic Road Address (Dirección Electrónica Vial)? It is an electronic mailbox in which individuals can register to receive the communications and notifications that the DGT has to make telematically with the same legal effects as paper notifications. In the case of legal entities, registration is compulsory, as from 1 November they will only be notified electronically.
– One of the advantages of being registered in this mailbox is that users can stop having to change their address if, for example, they change their home or town. The DGT warns that those bodies that have not yet joined the DEV will continue to send notification of fines by post.
– Notification to the DEV is complemented with an e-mail notification and, if desired, also with an SMS to the mobile phone.
*How to register*
– According to the DGT on its website, the steps to follow to register with the DEV are very simple. A valid digital certificate is required and, as mentioned above, an e-mail address and a mobile phone number where you can receive notifications of pending notifications.
– If you do not register, a valid e-mail address will be assigned ex officio, where the relevant notifications will be sent. Remember that if you do not inform the DGT of an e-mail address or mobile phone number for this purpose, you will not receive notifications of the availability of traffic fine notifications.
– All legal persons who are holders of a vehicle registration certificate (holders of vehicles in the Vehicle Register) or who are long-term lessees of a vehicle are obliged to register.
– For more information, call 060.

Spain to Accelerate & Simplify Procedures for Recognition of Foreign University Degrees & Certifications:
– The decree corresponding to the Immigration Law will officially enter into force on November 7, and the move means that foreigners from other countries will be subject to facilitated procedures when it comes to the recognition of their university degrees.
– In line with the new rules that are to become effective two weeks from now, foreigners who hold a university degree issued in their country of origin will be able to prove through a more streamlined procedure that their level of training is the same as the one required in Spain.
– In addition, the new measures will provide solutions to thousands of skilled foreigners who currently work in Spain and will guarantee eased procedures for those who wish to work in the country.

Andalusia extends the free screening for breast cancer to five new groups of age: {Translation, summary}
– The Andalusian Regional Minister of Health and Consumer Affairs, Catalina García, announced last week the extension of breast cancer screening to five new age groups: 47, 48, 49, 70 and 71, as part of the Andalusian Government’s commitment to extend these tests from the age of 40 to 75.
– The Breast Cancer Early Detection Programme consists of carrying out mammograms every two years on the entire female population between the ages of 50 and 69 living in Andalusia. In this sense, with the incorporation of these new age groups, which will be carried out during the second quarter of 2023, the target population will be between 47 and 71 years of age. Rishi Sunak to become the next UK prime minister after months of turbulence:
– Rishi Sunak will become Britain’s first prime minister of colour on Tuesday after he won the race to lead the Conservative Party, tasked with steering a deeply divided country through an economic downturn set to leave millions of people poorer. One of the wealthiest politicians in Westminster, Sunak, 42, will become the country’s youngest leader in modern times – and its third in less than two months – as he takes over during one of the most turbulent eras in British political history.
– Sunak, who will be appointed prime minister by King Charles on Tuesday, will also have to work hard to hold Britain’s dominant political party together after some accused him of treachery earlier this year when he resigned from the cabinet of former leader Boris Johnson, triggering his downfall too.
– Other Conservatives say he is too rich to understand the day-to-day economic pressures building in Britain, and worry whether he could ever win an election for a party that has been in power for 12 years. “I think this decision sinks us as a party for the next election,” one Conservative lawmaker told Reuters on condition of anonymity. Explained- Why the British public is not choosing its leader: Observers of British politics can be forgiven for scratching their heads in recent weeks as they watch the country reel through prime ministers without holding an election. While the opposition Labour Party is demanding an election, the governing Conservatives have just chosen another leader from within their own ranks – Rishi Sunak, the third prime minister since September. They have the right to do so because of the way Britain’s parliamentary democracy works.

Finger Pointing Over Ukraine- The Latest Scare Mongering Doing the Rounds in the Mainstream Media:
(This article is a typical example; similar articles are in all the major news outlets.) “West fears Russia is preparing escalation in Ukraine using ‘dirty bomb’ pretext”
– Following five months of silence, the Kremlin made two telephone calls in the space of three days to warn France, the United Kingdom and Turkey about the threat of Ukraine deploying a ‘dirty bomb’ on its own territory to then place the blame on Russia. On Sunday, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu contacted his counterparts in the three countries to tell them that the Kremlin’s intelligence suggested Kyiv was planning to use such a weapon, but the response from Washington, London and Paris was that Shoigu’s assertion was a Russian bluff to justify further military escalation in the face of Ukraine’s advances on the ground in the province of Kherson, which has been under Moscow’s control since the early days of the invasion.
– “Our countries made clear that we all reject Russia’s transparently false allegations that Ukraine is preparing to use a dirty bomb on its own territory,” The US, the UK and France said in a joint statement. “The world would see through any attempt to use this allegation as a pretext for escalation.” Full article: https://english.elpais.com/international/2022-10-24/west-fears-russia-is-preparing-escalation-in-ukraine-using-dirty-bomb-pretext.html

ENERGY CRISIS

How you can get a gas bottle for free before 2023?: {Translation}
– The price of the butane cylinder is frozen until the end of 2022. Thus, it is foreseen that, if nothing prevents it, 2023 will be accompanied by an increase in the price of the butane cylinder, which currently has a fixed price of 19.55 euros.
– Faced with this situation, any option for consumers to make a profit on this type of element for heating water, cooking or cookers in winter is welcome. The energy company Repsol has made a free cylinder available to its customers if they request it before 2023. However, they must meet certain requirements.
– These conditions are to buy at least 10 units of the 12.5 or 12 kilos cylinders, and to do so through its website or app, and it is an offer for residents in the peninsula or the Balearic Islands until 31 December. It is true that the requirement is complex, since not many people buy that number of cylinders, but if they are purchased by several people, at least the amount of each cylinder will be a little lower.
– When the purchase of the 10 cylinders is completed, the user will receive a coupon that can be redeemed at any Repsol shop to claim their free product for a period of 3 months. Source, Spanish:

TECH

Keys to repairing your household appliances- where to find spare parts: {Translation, summary}
– From the beginning of 2022, the availability of repair parts and service is guaranteed for up to ten years from the date on which the product ceases to be manufactured.
– To ensure the compatibility of the spare part, the best option is to purchase an original spare part from the manufacturer and there are two ways to do this:
1. Find a Technical Assistance Service (TAS) of the brand and ask for the spare part you need using this link (Spanish). They usually ask for the serial number of the appliance and if they do not have it in stock, you will have to order it. https://www.ocu.org/consumo-familia/derechos-consumidor/consejos/servicios-asistencia-tecnica
2. Access the manufacturer’s website and if they have an online spare parts shop, you can do it directly through this channel (English/Multilingual). https://www.fersay.com/en
3. Another alternative is to look for the part in shops specialising in spare parts, which can be generic or the manufacturer’s original ones. They usually have spare parts of different brands. According to the OCU, some of these multi-brand spare parts sellers have a physical establishment through their network of franchised establishments, as is the case of Fersay.
There are other specialised shops that only sell spare parts online. Some of them are
Electrotodo, https://www.electrotodo.es/
Espares, https://www.espares.es/
Fixpart, https://fixpart.es/es
Reelec, https://reelec.es/
La Factoría del Recambio, https://www.lafactoriadelrecambio.com/
Recombios y Accesorios Online, https://www.recambiosyaccesoriosonline.es/
– When buying a spare part, you must know the model of the appliance and its reference or serial number because the numbers that appear on the spare part must coincide with those of the original part of the appliance so that there are no problems when the repair is carried out. These numbers on the type plate are usually located on inconspicuous parts and their location depends on the type of product. On washing machines and tumble dryers, these plates are usually located on the top of the door or on the back of the door. In dishwashers, they are located on the inside frame of the appliance or on the top edge of the door. In the case of refrigerators it is usually on the inside and in microwaves and ovens it is usually on the door frame or on the inside.

The BIO BEACH Restaurant U3A Lectures Present:
– Book Signing on Wed. Nov. 9th at 11am with U3A Author Norma Kira Masip.
*Chocolate Moon: Synopsis: Born during WWII in France, my tender years were far from conventional. My Catalan parents, political refugees having fled in 1939 from the Spanish Civil War, were held in a Concentration Camp in Argeles-Sur-Mer. Raised and educated in France, I pursued my higher education after I migrated to The USA in my teens. I eventually settled in the magical State of Hawaii, where I raised two sons. It is with a grateful heart that I published Chocolate Moon – A Life
from Darkness to Light in July 2020. Copies of Chocolate Moon are available in Bio Beach Restaurant (20€).
*So Close: Synopsis: Nadia, a dedicated and successful social worker, falls in love with Pasco, a prisoner serving life in prison for murder. Pasco convinces Nadia that he is innocent of the crime. The portrayal of the lives of these two individuals takes the reader through uncharted ethnic, cultural and social situations that eventually bring light into the convoluted story. This thrilling tale, parts of it filtered through the lens of Nadia’s best friend, Kira, is based on a true story. Copies of So Close are available in Bio Beach Restaurant (10€).
NOTES:

Submissions for posting in sections below
must be signed like this or they will be returned !!!
Sender's First Name / Nearest Town

– Added to this pool price is the compensation to gas companies that must be paid by consumers who benefit from the measure, consumers on the regulated tariff (PVPC) or those who, despite being on the free market, have an indexed tariff, which on this occasion for this Monday will once again be zero. MALAGA

Private health care now has more than 40% of the hospital beds of Malaga: {Translation, summary}
– Private health care now has more than 40% of the hospital beds of Malaga.
– Twenty years ago, there was no Vithas Xanit International Hospital, nor CHIP, nor Quirónsalud Málaga. The first was inaugurated in December 2005; the Complejo Hospitalario Integral Privado (CHIP) opened in September 2009 (although its origin, the clinic La Encarnación, had already existed for almost four decades) and the third, in October of the same year. And since then they have not stopped growing. For its part, the HLA El Ángel Hospital has undergone a complete renovation of its building and technology. In addition, at the beginning of last October, the entry of another business group in the sector was announced: HM, which with CHIP, the Del Pilar and Gálvez clinics and the Santa Elena Hospital, brings together 200 beds and 400 doctors.
– According to the National Catalogue of Hospitals, as of 31 December 2021, the province had 4,723 beds installed. Of these, 2,774 – 59% – belong to the public health system and 1,949 – 41% – to the private sector. But this part of the pie is even bigger because there are data that are not yet included in the list drawn up by the Ministry of Health.
– During these two decades, while the Andalusian Regional Government kept repeating promises of a third public hospital that never came, the private health sector was concretising one project after another, consolidating its position as the most important in the autonomous community. Now, it seems that the third public hospital in the capital is finally on its way, as the project has already been awarded. In addition, the Pascual Hospital – which was private and is currently closed – is expected to open in the first half of 2023 as a public hospital, to be like an “extension” of the Regional Hospital, with 200 beds.
– The current picture of private healthcare portrays a thriving sector that accounts for almost half of the hospital beds in Malaga and is backed by strong business groups, such as Vithas, Quirón or HM Hospitales. UK

Boris Johnson drops out of race to be next UK prime minister:
– Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced Sunday he will not run to lead the Conservative Party, ending a short-lived, high-profile attempt to return to the prime minister’s job he was ousted from little more than three months ago.
– His withdrawal leaves former Treasury chief Rishi Sunak the strong favorite to become Britain’s next prime minister — the third this year — at a time of political turmoil and severe economic challenges. He could win the contest as soon as Monday.
– Late Sunday he said he had amassed the backing of 102 colleagues, more than the threshold of 100 needed to make a ballot of lawmakers on Monday. But he was far behind Sunak in support, and said he had concluded that “you can’t govern effectively unless you have a united party in Parliament.” Full article: https://apnews.com/article/british-politics-boris-johnson-rishi-sunak-london-europe-e5a15fc45b3a2212f6f59a6c61439163

Climate activists attack the art world again – throw mashed potatoes at Monet work in Germany:
– Claude Monet has become the latest artist to be the focus of food-related climate protests, after members of a German environmental group threw mashed potatoes over one of his paintings in a Potsdam museum on Sunday.
– Nine days after Just Stop Oil emptied tomato soup over Vincent van Gogh’s Sunflowers at the National Gallery in London, two activists from Letzte Generation (Last Generation) entered the Museum Barberini and doused Monet’s Les Meules (Haystacks) with potato before glueing their hands to the wall.
– The protesters said the stunt was designed as a wake-up call in the face of a climate catastrophe. “People are starving, people are freezing, people are dying,” one of the activists said in a video of the incident tweeted by Letzte Generation. USA

US Army’s 101st Airborne Division has been deployed to Europe for the first time since World War II, just 3 miles from Ukraine border:
– The roughly 4,700 soldiers from Fort Campbell, Kentucky, are about three miles away from Romania’s border with Ukraine, conducting joint ground and air assault exercises with Romanian forces.
– The Army’s 101st Airborne Division, which boasts the “Screaming Eagles” moniker, has been deployed to Europe for the first time since World War II, practicing with live tank and artillery rounds not far from the Black Sea, across which Russia has taken territory from Ukraine, including Crimea, at a forward operating site on NATO’s eastern flank, according to CBS News.
– Col. Edwin Matthaidess, commander of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, told the news outlet these troops are the closest U.S. unit to the fighting in Ukraine. Full article: https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/policy/defense-national-security/us-military-forces-prepared-cross-into-ukraine

ENERGY CRISIS

Where are the best deals on Electricity now:
***Repsol Tarifa Largo Plazo***
According to the OCU, the Repsol Tarifa ‘Largo Plazo’ can only be found via this link ( https://www.repsol.es/particulares/hogar/luz-y-gas/tarifas/tarifa-precio-fijo-largo-plazo/?_ga=2.3639664.1786282385.1661166160-916625165.1636463966 ), because the offer is actually hidden on the Repsol website. And for good reason, too. The Repsol tariff is among the best offers the market in terms of price per kWh consumed, although the power for off-peak time is a little more than some of the other offers on the list.
The tariff is non-permanent, with a fixed price rate for 3 years.
kWh Prices
Price per kWh consumed: €0.17/kWh.
Peak hours: €29.90 per kW.
Off-peak hours: €29.90 per kW.
***Iberdrola Online Plan***
The Iberdrola Online Plan, which you can find here, is only available until September 30th, so be sure to take advantage of it as soon as possible.
Using Iberdrola’s online tool, you can select a kW rate and it will give you price estimates for the different values. If you’re environmentally minded, Iberdrola’s Online Plan claims to use 100 percent green electricity, so you can enjoy renewable energy and reduce your CO2 emissions.
There’s also 14 hours of savings during the night up until mid-morning.
This plan is only for customers who take out the contract online, as the name suggests, and features entirely electronic billing.
kWh Prices
Price per kWh consumed: €0.159353 + metered gas cost (in August €0.161529 /kWh).
Price per kW contracted during peak hours (fixed term): €30.66747.
Price per kW contracted during off-peak hours (fixed term): €4.104338.
Note the prices will be revised in line with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) on January 1st.
***Octopus Energy***
Octopus Energy tariffs are not permanent and is all done online, which allows you the flexibility to move around again in the future if you come across a better offer. Octopus offer two fixed prices:
Octopus 3: price per kWh consumed during peak hours is 0.254 €/kWh; at flat time 0.209 €/kWh; and at off-peak hours 0.185 €/kWh.
Octopus Relax: price per kWh consumed of 0.212 €/kWh.
kWh Prices (both Octopus tariffs)
Peak hours (fixed term): €32.85.
Off-peak hours (fixed term): €6.57.
***Iberdrola Special Plan***
The Iberdrola Special Plan offers a 15 percent discount during the first year, and its kWh prices for both on and off-peak are competitive with other cheaper tariffs.
kWh Prices
Price per kWh consumed: €0.178662 (minus the 15 percent extra discount) but plus a gas metering cost (which in August was €0.161529/kWh.)
Peak hours (fixed term): €30.52381
Off-peak hours (fixed term): €3.512901
***Endesa ‘One Luz’ Tariff***
Endesa is currently offering the ‘One Luz’ tariff, which offers a 10 percent discount on consumption and an additional 10 percent reduction throughout the first year.
kWh Prices
Price per kWh consumed: €0.189 (plus the 10 percent +10 percent discount) + the metered gas cost (which in August was €0.161529/KWh).
Peak hours (fixed term): €33.86.
Off-peak hours (fixed term): €7.9973
***Total Energies***
Another interesting option is Total Energies, who offer entirely personalised pricing plans. Basically, Total Energies want to attract your business by outdoing your current rate. In order to receive a quote and see how it stacks up against your current provider, you simply upload a copy of your current bill to the website and Total Energies make an offer, often bettering your current rate.
If they make an offer, Total Energies promise a discount lasting for 4 years, although the price on which the discount is fixed is only valid for 12 months.

F1 News- Verstappen wins U.S. GP as Red Bull take constructors’ crown: Max Verstappen fought back from a calamitous pitstop to win the U.S. Grand Prix in Austin on Sunday as his Red Bull team took the Formula One constructors’ title a day after the death of billionaire owner Dietrich Mateschitz.
– The title, clinched with three races to spare, ended an eight-year streak by Mercedes whose seven-times world champion Lewis Hamilton scented a first victory of the year but ended up second at the Circuit of the Americas.
– Red Bull’s Sergio Perez was fourth with Russell, who secured a bonus point for fastest lap, fifth and Lando Norris sixth for McLaren. Double world champion Fernando Alonso was seventh for Renault-owned Alpine despite a collision with future Aston Martin team mate Lance Stroll that brought out the safety car for the second time.

OTHER

Tiny $10K electric off-roader rambles like a mini Jeep with big bed:
– The Kilow La Bagnole looks part mini pickup truck, part UTV and part shrunken Jeep CJ. It zips silently across rugged terrain via an exceptionally modest 16-kW powertrain that proves more than ample thanks to the skinny-wheeler’s tiny size and sub-1,000-lb weight. The lil’ La Bagnole carries two people and up to 650 L of gear or cargo on an off-road adventure of their choosing.
– La Bagnole comes powered by a pair of rear-mounted brushless motors that team for up to 21 hp (16 kW). That doesn’t exactly sound like the makings of a thrill ride, but given the vessel’s sub-772-lb (350-kg) weight, it’s able to achieve speeds of roughly 50 mph (80 km/h). Kilow lists acceleration time for 0 to 40 km/h (25 mph) at four seconds, though many drivers will be best-served laying off the accelerator in order to conserve range, which maxes out between 43 and 87 miles (70 and 140 km).
– Kilow is offering La Bagnole for pre-order in two variations: an L6e version with limited 28-mph (45-km/h) top speed that does not require a license and a 50-mph (80-km/h) L7e variant that will require a license to drive legally. Prices start at €9,990 (approx. US$9,975), and the company plans to begin deliveries in early 2023. Full article & more pics: https://newatlas.com/automotive/tiny-kilow-bagnole-electric-off-roader/

Sender's First Name / Nearest Town
