The price of electricity rises 24 percent this Friday- these are the most expensive and cheapest hours:

– Added to this pool price is the compensation to gas companies that must be paid by consumers who benefit from the measure, consumers on the regulated tariff (PVPC) or those who, despite being on the free market, have an indexed tariff, which on this occasion for this Friday will again be, as on the previous two days, negative, at -1.95 euros/MWh.
– The ‘Iberian exception’, which came into force on 15 June, limits the price of gas for electricity generation to an average of 48.8 euros per MWh for a period of twelve months, thus covering the coming winter, a period in which energy prices are more expensive.
– Specifically, the ‘Iberian exception’ fixes a path for natural gas for electricity generation from a price of 40 euros/MWh in the initial six months -until 15 December-, and thereafter, a monthly increase of five euros/MWh until the end of the measure. These are the Andalusians who will receive the reduction of up to 1,000 euros in personal income tax withholding in 2023: {Translation} 20/10/2022, 13:50h.
– The Ministry of Finance has announced a change in personal income tax to avoid creating a significant tax gap between incomes of less than 21,000 euros, for which personal income tax has been lowered, and those slightly above that amount. As a result, around 250,000 Spaniards will see a substantial increase in their salary in 2023, with a bonus that could reach up to 1,000 euros in some cases.
– In order for the significant salary increase to be applied to them, they must be single, widowed, divorced or legally separated and have a child, or have a spouse whose income does not exceed 1,500 euros per year.
– It establishes that, when the taxpayer obtains a total gross salary that is less than or equal to 35,200 euros per year, the maximum limit of the withholding quota will be the result of applying the percentage of 43% to the difference between the total amount of the salary and the corresponding minimum amount excluded from withholding.
– In this way, the amount withheld through personal income tax on the salaries of many taxpayers whose gross salaries are between 21,000 and 35,200 euros per year will be less. However, it will not be all those who receive salaries between these amounts, but those who have specific situations, from spouses whose income does not exceed 1,500 euros per year to taxpayers who are not entitled to reductions for single-parent families.

France, Portugal, Spain agree on Med ‘green energy corridor’:
– The leaders of France, Portugal and Spain said Thursday they have agreed to substitute a proposed gas pipeline connection between Iberia and France with an undersea “green energy corridor” that would eventually transport hydrogen.
– Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said the plan was to connect Iberia to France and the European energy market by means of a pipeline from Barcelona in Spain across the Mediterranean Sea to Marseille in France. He said it could be used to transport natural gas temporarily, before it starts carrying hydrogen. Sánchez made the announcement after the leaders of the three countries met in Brussels where they are attending an European Union summit.
– No timeline or cost estimate were announced. Sánchez and Macron said the three leaders would meet again Dec. 8, 9 in Alicante, Spain to finalize the project, which will be entitled to European funding.

Iryo, Spain’s new low-cost high-speed train company, is now selling tickets for Malaga and Seville in 2023:
– Spain’s new low-cost high-speed train operator, Iryo, will launch its Madrid-Barcelona service on 25 November with four return journeys a day, and tickets for its 2023 services are already on sale.
– Next to come into operation will be the Madrid-Valencia route, with a stop at Cuenca, which is scheduled to begin on 16 December, and in the first three months of next year travellers will be able to use Iryo trains between the Spanish capital and Seville, Malaga, Antequera and Cordoba. In June they will also start running to Alicante and Albacete.
– The tickets can be purchased from the Iryo website and the prices depend on dates and times, but there are options starting at 18 euros. In a statement, Iryo has reiterated that it is the only operator to offer flexible tickets which can be changed with no financial penalty. It says it will not only compete with other rail operators on price but also flexibility. The fleet currently consists of 20 electric trains with the interiors divided into four sections depending on fares and services. Spain scraps Covid-19 restrictions for non-EU arrivals: Spanish authorities have finally decided to stop requiring visitors from non-EU countries such as the UK and the US to provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination, testing or recovery to enter the country. From October 21st 2022, tourists and other non-resident visitors from outside of the EU/EEA will no longer be asked to show a Covid-19 certificate by officials at airports and sea ports in Spain. Texas sues Google for allegedly capturing biometric data of millions without consent (Google does this globally):
– Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said in a statement that the “indiscriminate collection” of such data “will not be tolerated.”

This year, the popular shower peaks the morning of Friday, October 21. The best time to watch for shooting stars is in the hours between about 2 A.M. local time and dawn. That’s when the radiant, or point from which shower meteors originate, is highest. The radiant is located in the southern sky, slightly northeast of bright Betelgeuse, Orion’s red shoulder star.
