Android Malware Campaign Leverages Money-Lending Apps to Blackmail Victims:
– None of the 33 apps used in the deceptive scheme have been distributed through the Google Play Store. The money lending applications, instead, are available through unofficial app stores or sideloaded to the phones via smishing, compromised websites, rogue ads, or social media campaigns.
– Once installed, the malware poses a risk as it’s designed to prompt the users to grant it intrusive permissions under the pretext of guaranteeing a loan, and harvest a wide range of private information.
– The collected data – which includes GPS locations, SMSes, contacts, call logs, files, photos, and audio recordings – is then used as a pressure tactic to force victims into paying excessively high-interest rates for the loans, sometimes even in cases after the loan is repaid.
– To make matters worse, the threat actors subject the borrowers to harassment by threatening to reveal their information, call people from the contact list, and send abusive messages and morphed photos from the infected devices.
– The findings come two weeks after Lookout discovered nearly 300 mobile loan applications on Google Play and Apple’s App Store that collectively have more than 15 million downloads and have been found engaging in predatory behavior. Spain Starts to Automatically Update EU Digital COVID Certificate Set to Expire Before Jun.30, 2023:

Torrox prepares for its big day this Sunday with migas as the main attraction: {Translation}
– Christmas choirs, regional dances, musical performances and, above all, migas, to celebrate this Sunday the gastronomic festival par excellence of Christmas, the big day of Torrox, which in its 41st edition will have the chef Enrique Sánchez as town crier and will feature a stellar performance by José Manuel Soto.
– This Sunday, 18 December, 1,500 kilos of semolina flour, 200 kilos of wheat flour, with the collaboration of Pastas Gallo, which once again this year chooses this festival to promote its product, 100 kilos of gluten-free flour, 600 litres of oil, 80 kilos of garlic and 40 kilos of salt will be used to make the migas, which will be tasted free of charge in the Llano de la Almazara. Five wineries in the province of Malaga you must not miss this year:

1. Bodegas Nilva, in Manilva. Its production is gradually attracting attention and has already received some outstanding recognition, such as its white wine, which recently received the Sabor a Málaga Award with DO Sierras de Málaga, mainly for its aroma and freshness with saline touches. They produce only about 8,000 bottles of wine per year and the use of the Moscatel de Alejandría grape gives them their differentiation.
2. Bodega Sedella is an avant-garde bodega that is at the forefront of new wines in Malaga. They have the latest winemaking technology and certainly have one of the most ground-breaking wineries on the scene. Currently they only have their red wine in production, “made from the Romé and red Garnacha varieties from centenary vines and aged between 16 and 20 months in new French oak barrels”. It is smooth on the palate, with an intense colour and iodised notes.
3. Huerto de la Condesa. This bodega has a long history behind its walls. At the old Heredad de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores estate in Ronda, recently rehabilitated. They have garnacha and syrah varieties, such as one of their wines, Pampaneando, which is currently out of stock -there must be a reason. They have enabled a visit to their vineyards that includes a tasting, an exceptional opportunity to learn about their history.
4. Viñedos Verticales. Moclinejo village, in the Axarquía region. They currently have six productions, La Raspa white, La Raspa red, Filitas y Lutitas, Magnético, El Camaleón and Noctiluca. These last two have been highly praised, the first one is red, from 2019; and the second one is sweet, sweet and aromatic.
5. Tres Generaciones (pic). One of the many wineries and vineyards in the Serranía de Ronda. It also has a long history with its wines, of which it currently has La Depa, El Leto, El Arquitecto and Aniya, named after the popular culture of Ronda. In particular, El Arquitecto has been awarded the Bacchus 2022 gold medal, the only wine with the Málaga and Sierras de Málaga designation of origin to hold this title.

Around 28,000 communities of owners in Malaga province still need to update their garage doors:
– Garage doors have become a headache for many communities of owners in Malaga province, because around 28,000 do not comply with current EU safety regulations. This is not an insignificant figure, as it amounts to about one half of the garages belonging to communities and private owners in the province.
– The safety rules apply to automatic doors and they require rubber anti-collision pads, an orange warning light and a detection and braking system for the doors in the event of a collision, among other features. iPhone 14 users can now use satellite to get emergency help when they’ve got no signal or Wi-Fi, and now Apple can now track you whether you have a signal/wifi or not:

New Zealand will ban smoking for all people born after 2009: The smoking ban for those born after 2009 will be for life, with fines of up to NZ$150,000 (about 92.000 euros) in case of non-compliance, local media report. The Poblado Navideño Christmas village opens on Friday, December 16, and will be open for the entire festive period until Sunday, January 8, offering three weeks of fun. – On 26, 27, 28 and 29 December, from 17:00 to 19:00 hours, there will be Christmas games and workshops with bingo and karaoke (26th); Christmas crafts workshop and popular games (27th); Christmas bubble and drawing workshop (28th); and Christmas trivia and face painting (29th). During these days there will also be a Christmas market of toys and books organised by the AMPA el Peñón.
– On the 30th of December there will be a big party ‘prenochevieja’ with performances by the Coros y Danzas de Torre del Mar; a show by Maria Lozano and Alcaidhe en Navidad; and Fran Ocaña.
– Belén Viviente 2/1/23. This activity will take place in the courtyard of the Juan Paniagua School, which will be converted into a large village for the performance. It is scheduled for 2 January 2023 at 12:00 noon in a single performance. Seating is limited to 900 people.
– On the 5th of January we will have the ‘Cabalgata de Reyes’ (procession of the three kings), which will leave from the Carpa and go through the village to the church.

– The Regional Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs, through the Directorate General of Public Health and Pharmaceutical Organisation and the Andalusian Health Service, has detected a total of five cases of children hospitalised in the autonomous community with invasive group A streptococcal disease, of which one remains in the Intensive Care Unit. The children, aged between 1 month and 14 years, are in hospital receiving antibiotic treatment.
– On 2 December last, the United Kingdom published a report in which it reported a notable early increase, compared to previous years, of infections due to Streptococcus pyogenes (group A Streptococcus). As a result, the Regional Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs, through the Public Health Surveillance Network of the Directorate General for Public Health and Pharmaceutical Management, declared this infection as an event of public health interest (as it is not currently a notifiable disease).
– From the department of Health and Consumption claim that “there are no grounds for alarm”, as it is a disease common in both Andalusia and Spain, caused by a bacterium known, of rapid diagnosis, which can be treated with antibiotics and in most of the cases studied so mild. Olive oil price rockets by 50 per cent in Spain and is likely to keep rising:
– The price of olive oil has risen so much in Spain that a litre bottle from supermarkets now costs 50% more than it did at the beginning of this year, and it is likely to continue increasing because farmers are describing this year’s harvest as “disastrous”.
– The lack of rainfall and more expensive production costs are behind the increase in price. “A five-litre container was 28 euros and is now 39.40 euros,” supermarket sources have told SUR, and the COAG association in Jaén, the province where the most olives are grown, said the start of the olive harvest has been even worse than expected and may be no better than the worst ever, in 2012-2013, when only 142,849 tonnes of olives were picked. The four most spectacular abandoned sites in Andalucia: {Translation}
– Nowadays, when we keep hearing that inland villages are emptying and could end up like the ones we are going to see, there is a type of tourism demanded by many visitors, which consists of visiting villages that are not inhabited.
– This type of tourist hopes to find in these lifeless places a reunion between history, the absence of tourists and the natural landscape. In many cases, people also come to these places for a variety of reasons: to loot the houses, for legends of ghosts or to play paintball.
– We have selected four Andalucian villages that were abandoned to their fate: Tablate, Cabezudos, El Chorrillo and Sancti Petri.
***Tablate, Granada***
– In the province of Granada, which has quite a few abandoned villages around Baza, such as Bastidas, Cañada Del Gitano, Don Martín, El Moro, Las Balsillas, Los Mellizos or Pocopán, there is a place that once had 2,000 inhabitants. It was once called Tablate and is located high up in the Lecrín Valley. The village had its own Town Hall, five mills, bars and a library. Today, as we can see in the video, the landscape is one of vilified houses, collapsed roofs, destroyed doors and ropes holding up exposed wooden beams.
***Cabezudos, in Huelva***
– This forestry settlement is one of the settlements created in the 1940s by the State Forestry Heritage next to the Doñana Natural Park. Cabezudos forms part of a group of settlements, together with Acebuche, Abalario, La Mediana and Bodegones, which have now been abandoned. From the 1940s until it became uninhabited in the 1980s, this place was a model for other forest settlements to follow. It had all the services needed to live: two schools, an old one and a new one that was never opened; a grocer’s shop, a canteen and a doctor’s surgery. In the village, the workers’ houses, with their dilapidated roofs, have barely survived. The big house of the exploitation, which was the chief engineer’s house, has been invaded by vegetation. It is said that Queen Sofia and the Infantas spent the night here on one of their visits to the Rocío.
***Sancti Petri, Cádiz***
– This famous fishing village next to Chiclana has been uninhabited since the 1970s, although in recent years its fortunes may have changed a little. The village of Sancti Petri is situated on a peninsula of land which can be reached from the beach. A whole industry dedicated to tuna fishing and canning was cultivated here. It was in the 17th century that the first chancas were established here. In its heyday, this industry employed two thousand people in this village. Until tuna became scarce and Sancti Petri went into decline. In 1979, the Ministry of Defence expropriated the land and used it for manoeuvres until 1993, when the place fell into total abandonment.
In recent times, thanks to the rise of tourism in the area, it is gaining prominence and is getting a second life, with fishing clubs, the activity of the marina, restaurants such as La Casa del Farero or the Concert Music Festival, which has been held in recent years with great events.
***El Chorrillo, Almería***
– This abandoned village in the province of Almería was not built for civilian life but for fiction. The film Exodus was shot here. Ridley Scott shot 70% of the film between this village and the Tabernas Desert. Game of Thrones has also used this place to shoot scenes of the city of the Dothrakis. It is located in the municipality of Pechina, specifically in the Paraje de El Chorrillo (near the Baños de Sierra Alhamilla). The intention was to keep the set after the filming was finished. However, the facilities were left abandoned and accessible to everyone.

– The wind alert will come into force on Tuesday, 13 December at 12:00 hours and will end at 23:59 hours. The coastal phenomena warning will begin on Tuesday at 15:00 hours and will end at 22:59 hours on the same day.
– The complete Aemet forecast for the province of Malaga for Tuesday is for cloudy or overcast skies, with rainfall in the western third and the Antequera region, extending throughout the province in the afternoon, occasionally accompanied by thunderstorms, which may be locally heavy and persistent in the western third and Axarquia. Minimum temperatures rising; maximum temperatures unchanged, except for a drop in the Guadalhorce Valley. Second Case In A Month Of Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS) In Young Footballers In Malaga – A 13 year old CD Puerto Malagueño junior football player collapsed and died on the pitch in the middle of a match this weekend:

– A terrible tragedy has shaken grassroots football in Malaga and Andalusia this weekend. Marvellous Onanefe Johnson, 13 years old, a CD Puerto Malagueño player, collapsed on the pitch while playing in a league match and died on the spot. Nothing could be done to save his life. The club will pay for the burial of the player.
– With five minutes left in the game, the unexpected happened. Marvellous, away from the ball at the time, collapsed on the pitch.
– An immediate attempt was made to resuscitate the player, but to no avail. Local police and 061 medical services arrived on the pitch, but were unable to save him either. The reasons for his death are not yet known. The results of the autopsy will be known on Tuesday.
– This follows less than a month after another Malaga footballer SDS case. Ezequiel Gálvez, a 20-year-old footballer in Malaga, died 15Nov22.
– Just 3 days before Ezequiel died, Málaga CF player Álex Gallar’s young daughter Leila Gallar Alcaraz died prematurely.

The reservoirs of Malaga gain five cubic hectometres with the latest rains: {Translation, summary}
– Last week’s rains have brought some relief to the Malaga countryside and reservoirs, although the situation is still worrying in some areas, especially in the Axarquia region, home to subtropical crops that require a large amount of irrigation. The rainfall has added five hectometres to the province’s reservoirs, which are still at 34% of their capacity and four hectometres below what was accumulated at this time last year.
– By reservoirs, the worst situation continues to be that of the La Viñuela reservoir, which is at 9.47% of its capacity. Of the 164 hectometres it could store, it has 15.57. And in the last week 73 litres per square metre have been collected. From last Monday until now, La Viñuela has increased by half a cubic hectometre. This does not save it from continuing to hit rock bottom, as it remains at historic lows.
– At the bottom of the table is also the Conde del Guadalhorce reservoir, at 25.9% of its capacity. It contains just over 17 cubic hectometres of water, while its capacity is 66. However, it is more than one hectometre above what it accumulated at this time last year. This last week it has registered some 60 litres.
– The Guadalhorce reservoir has added one cubic hectometre in the last week, so it is now at 33.3% of its capacity with almost 42 hectometres in storage.
– The Limonero reservoir, which is at 40 percent of its total, is the only reservoir that has seen a drop in water in storage since last Monday, despite the rainfall. On 5 December it had 9.08 hectometres and today it has 9.04 hectometres.
– In a better situation are the reservoirs of Casasola, at 48.3% of its capacity with 10.5 hectometres accumulated, and La Concepción, which stores almost 30 cubic hectometres. In the last week it has gained almost three hectometres, as some 130 litres have fallen thanks to the rainfall on the west coast and the Serranía de Ronda.
– At the top of the list is the Guadalteba reservoir, at 55% of its capacity, with almost 85 cubic hectometres accumulated. Although this figure is somewhat lower than that published last week by the Hidrosur network and almost two hectometres less than that recorded on the same date in 2021. Socialist Vice-president of the EU Parliament has been charged with corruption after Belgian police found ‘bags of cash’ in her home:
– Greek socialist MEP Eva Kaili, 44, is one of four suspects to have been charged and detained in relation to a police investigation into alleged lobbying by World Cup hosts Qatar. Belgian police are investigating allegations that figures working on behalf of Qatar have paid European politicians huge bribes to influence the Brussels policy debate.
– Mrs Kaili, who has spoken publicly in support of Qatar’s recent labour reforms, was arrested on Friday and has now been charged, along with three others. Two more have been released and the house of at least one more MEP has been searched by investigators.
– The arrests followed raids in Brussels which prosecutors said turned up 600,000 euros (£515,000) in cash. Police also seized computers and mobile phones.
– Mrs Kaili has been stripped of her responsibilities as vice president of the parliament, notably that of representing president Roberta Metsola in the Middle East, but she remains an MEP.
– She would normally enjoy immunity from criminal prosecution but there is an exception in cases where a suspect is caught red-handed in the act of committing an alleged crime. According to a judicial source, Belgian police detained Mrs Kaili in possession of ‘bags of cash’ and so she was brought before a judge. On the other hand, for 30 and 31 December, the strike will last 24 hours. US scientists achieve major fusion energy breakthrough:
– {The Engineering & Technology News} For the first time, scientists have been able to produce more energy than was consumed during a fusion energy reaction in what was described as a potentially major step in the pursuit of zero-carbon power.
– The fusion energy that produced a 120 per cent net energy gain took place in the federal Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) in California in the past two weeks.
– Fusion is based on the same physical reactions that power the Sun and stars, which create energy by forcing atoms together. It is the opposite of standard nuclear reactors which rely on fission, breaking atoms apart, and it produces zero carbon.
– Fusion is a potential source of almost limitless clean energy, but is currently only carried out in experiments as it has proved difficult to harness. However, amid rising energy prices and a cost-of-living crisis, it could become a safe and clean alternative source of energy that might become available in the not-too-distant future.
– (According to rumours in the tech community, fusion was accomplished by the US in the 70s, but was kept hidden. However, it is said that both Japan & China are now close to announcing the same breakthrough, forcing the US to make this announcement. The US justifies hiding these advances, officially labelling them “disruptive technologies”, as in, it could disrupt oil profits. While I have no solid proof, US Army vets I’ve spoken with report “free energy boxes and water-from-air devices” have been used by troops in the Middle East since the US occupation of Afghanistan began. Evidently the US gov’t does not want these “disruptive technologies” publicly available either. -Ed.)

This was top-of-the-line when new. I have installed a new SSD drive and 4Gb RAM card. Coupled with the powerful processor, this laptop is very fast. If you leave your laptop in place, plugged in, this could serve you well. Basically, the laptop is free, I am just looking to recoup what I paid for the new SSD & RAM. It served me well for many years, now it’s time to pass it on to someone else as I upgrade. It didn’t need a full refurb job as I maintained it well.

– On its web page about iPhone analytics, Apple states that none of the information it collects identifies the user: “Personal data is not logged, is subject to privacy protection techniques (such as differential privacy) or is removed from reports before being sent to Apple.” But Mysk (security analyst firm) says that data sent to the company includes a permanent, immutable identification number called a directory services identifier, or DSID. – This is all now a huge concern as Apple has announced its intention to focus on the more profitable “advertising sector” of the computer business. Will they abuse the data they have collected on you for as long as you’ve been an Apple user to benefit their new-and-improved advertising sales division? Why not? They lied about collecting your data. Obviously it’s not a moral problem for them. Galería is defined as a contemporary and multidisciplinary show where three languages are combined: dance, which uses flamenco as an initial axis, plastic art, with an exhibition of pictorial work and live creation of a new work, and audiovisual language, with an interactive piece that unites the three languages. Cirque du Soleil at Malaga Sports Arena: 10 to 18 Dec.
The world famous Cirque du Soleil returns three years after its last visit to Malaga to open the Spanish tour of its latest offering- Crystal, the first acrobatic show on ice. The Canadian circus company, will perform Crystal from 10 to 18 December at the city’s Martín Carpena Sports Arena, with tickets costing from 35.20 euros.
The venue has now begun its transformation into an ice palace; hundreds of frozen tubes on the floor will create an artificial ice rink on which the 44 artists – acrobats, tightrope walkers and jugglers – will glide. A spectacular show not to be missed!

25% of companies do not have enough liquidity to pay their debts, Andalucia has lowest liquidity ratio in Spain: {Translation}

– Medium-sized (1.62) and small (1.70) companies show higher values, which implies that they work with a greater margin of safety in the face of possible fluctuations in their assets and liabilities.
– The ratio of micro enterprises (1.59) does not follow this inverse scale, an indicator that they have greater difficulties in financing themselves.
– The study also indicates that the highest average liquidity ratios are recorded in Melilla (2), Navarre (1.8), the Basque Country (1.77), La Rioja (1.76) and Catalonia (1.72), while the lowest are in Andalusia (1.49), Madrid (1.54), Castile-La Mancha (1.54) and Extremadura (1.57).

Primary care doctors threaten strike action in January:
– Strikes are planned by primary care doctors in Malaga province and across Andalucía next month if an agreement is not reached with the regional Ministry of Health to ensure immediate improvements in working conditions and pay.

The Casa de la Cultura de Almuñecar hosts the exhibition ‘Treasures of devotion’: {Translation}

Passengers on EU Flights Will Soon Be Able to Make Calls While On-Board, For a Price:
– The deadline for the EU countries to make 5G frequency bands available for planes has been set to June 30, 2023, and this means that everyone will be able to use their phones to make calls as soon as the next summer.
– According to the Commission, the decision to implement mobile communications on board lays the groundwork for the widespread deployment of 5G services. The same has explained that the service will be provided within the cabin that uses special network equipment – picocell – to connect the users and text, calls, and data, between the plane and the mobile network based on the ground.

Brussels wants to require crypto-asset providers to report transactions by EU residents: {Translation, summary}

2022 Turner Prize goes to Veronica Ryan:
– At 66, the British sculptor became the oldest recipient of the Turner Prize, one of the world’s most prestigious accolades for visual arts.

Assisted Suicide Is Out Of Control In Canada – Canadian veteran, ex-Paralympian offered assisted suicide by VA office after seeking help to acquire a wheelchair lift:
– Retired corporal Christine Gauthier, who competed for Canada at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympics and the Invictus Games that same year, told the House of Commons veterans committee last week that she was offered help to commit suicide when she was trying to acquire a wheelchair lift from Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC).
– She told the committee that she was offered “medical assistance in dying,” which is a type of medical suicide commonly referred to as MAiD.
“I have a letter in my file,” she said, referring to the offer from VAC to help her kill herself. “I have a letter saying that if you’re so desperate, madam, we can offer you MAiD, medical assistance in dying,” she added.
– She wrote a letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau attesting to what had happened and said she was even told that VAC would “supply equipment” necessary to kill herself.
– Gauthier reacted to the affair in an interview with Global News, saying, “I was like, ‘I can’t believe that you will … give me an injection to help me die, but you will not give me the tools I need to help me live.” She said that her “faith will not allow (her) to do it,” referring to committing suicide.

Mezquitilla and Lagos present their Christmas programme with children in the spotlight:
– Friday, the 9th, the Mezquitilla Town Hall will receive a visit from Father Christmas and his elves, who will collect all the letters with requests from the little ones. There will be surprises throughout the afternoon, as well as chocolate tasting, churros and a bouncy castle.
– Friday 16th, from 17:00 hours, the royal postman will arrive, who will also receive the letters to deliver them to Their Majesties the Three Wise Men from the East. All those attending will receive a gift and there will be workshops, face painting, a bouncy castle and a delicious Christmas pastry. The afternoon will be enlivened by the group ‘Cantando bajito’.

Spain police bust ‘Ukraine Aid’ marijuana smuggling ring:
– Spanish police said Monday they had broken up a smuggling ring that was transporting cannabis across Europe under the guise of a convoy of humanitarian aid destined for Ukraine.
– During the operation, police arrested 30 suspects – among them Spaniards, Ukrainians, Germans and Moroccans – at several locations across the southern Andalusia region, a Guardia Civil statement said.
– The marijuana, which came from plantations located across the region, was “packaged in cardboard boxes disguised as supplies and humanitarian aid destined for Ukraine,” it said. They were then packed into vans registered in Ukraine that were “purportedly acting as a solidarity convoy so they could pass under the radar of police and border controls,” while visiting various European countries, it said.
– Police were alerted to the scheme after identifying a group of Ukrainians on the Costa del Sol who were collecting large quantities of marijuana that were stored in a flat in Mijas, near Málaga.
– During the raids, which targeted sites in Málaga province as well as in the southern cities of Granada, Córdoba and Seville, police seized nearly €800,000, six guns and 2,500 cannabis plants.

Hackintosh- Obsolete MacBook Rescue:
– If you have an old MacBook you have retired because it can’t run a currently supported version of MacOS, there is a way save it. If the MacBook is in good condition, and all the hardware works, a secure, fully supported Linux operating system can be installed to replace the obsolete MacOS.
– Ubuntu, the most popular version of Linux, works well on old MacBooks (Note: Bluetooth and Thunderbolt functions are NOT supported in most cases). Ubuntu looks like Android, another version of Linux, so if you can use a smartphone, you’ll quickly adapt to Ubuntu. Ubuntu is free, as are all programs and apps. Most common apps are available thru the Ubuntu Free Software app.
– You can find info on the internet if you’d like to do the Hackintosh conversion yourself.
– DoctorLaptop can convert your old Macbook for you, only €80. Ukraine said 507 municipalities across the country were cut off from electricity supplies after weeks of Russian strikes:

– LastPass, the well-known password management firm, has suffered a new cybersecurity incident. An attacker who breached its software development environment has allegedly attacked the company again.
– The firm revealed this week that it is investigating a recent incident in which someone had exploited information obtained a few months ago to gain access to its source code, as well as customer data stored on an unidentified third-party cloud storage service.
However, LastPass says its products and services remain fully functional despite the incident.
– The password manager was hacked in August through a breach of its development servers. The company’s CEO, Karim Toubba, reported that an unauthorised actor had made off with parts of LastPass’ source code and some proprietary technical information.
