– Thursday, December 8th is Immaculate Conception Day, a national public holiday.

Mezquitilla and Lagos present their Christmas programme with children in the spotlight:
– Friday, the 9th, the Mezquitilla Town Hall will receive a visit from Father Christmas and his elves, who will collect all the letters with requests from the little ones. There will be surprises throughout the afternoon, as well as chocolate tasting, churros and a bouncy castle.
– Friday 16th, from 17:00 hours, the royal postman will arrive, who will also receive the letters to deliver them to Their Majesties the Three Wise Men from the East. All those attending will receive a gift and there will be workshops, face painting, a bouncy castle and a delicious Christmas pastry. The afternoon will be enlivened by the group ‘Cantando bajito’.
– Finally, on the 5th of January, one of the most important moments of the year for children will take place: from 17:00 hours, the Three Wise Men will be in the Tanit car park in Lagos to see the little ones and hand out presents. Then, at around 17:30 they will leave for the Tenencia de Alcaldía de Mezquitilla.

Spain police bust ‘Ukraine Aid’ marijuana smuggling ring:
– Spanish police said Monday they had broken up a smuggling ring that was transporting cannabis across Europe under the guise of a convoy of humanitarian aid destined for Ukraine.
– During the operation, police arrested 30 suspects – among them Spaniards, Ukrainians, Germans and Moroccans – at several locations across the southern Andalusia region, a Guardia Civil statement said.
– The marijuana, which came from plantations located across the region, was “packaged in cardboard boxes disguised as supplies and humanitarian aid destined for Ukraine,” it said. They were then packed into vans registered in Ukraine that were “purportedly acting as a solidarity convoy so they could pass under the radar of police and border controls,” while visiting various European countries, it said.
– Police were alerted to the scheme after identifying a group of Ukrainians on the Costa del Sol who were collecting large quantities of marijuana that were stored in a flat in Mijas, near Málaga.
– During the raids, which targeted sites in Málaga province as well as in the southern cities of Granada, Córdoba and Seville, police seized nearly €800,000, six guns and 2,500 cannabis plants.

Heavy rain and wind caused some thirty incidents in Malaga province: The rains and strong winds caused around thirty incidents in the province on Monday evening and early this Tuesday morning (6 December). Marbella was the most affected town, where a small tornado on Monday afternoon broke glass at the Costa del Sol Hospital, causing a worker to be slightly injured. Spain’s meteorological agency (Aemet) said no rain is expected on Tuesday and Wednesday, although from Thursday onwards there is a high probability of showers. – Spain had hopes of winning the 2022 World Cup, but they’ve exited at the same stage as they did in 2018 and in the same manner, losing on penalties. This time, Spain fell in a 3-0 penalty shootout defeat to Morocco.

– OpenAI’s newly unveiled ChatGPT bot is making waves when it comes to all the amazing things it can do – from writing music to coding to generating vulnerability exploits, and what not.
– As the erudite machinery turns into a viral sensation, humans have started to discover some of the AI’s biases, like the desire to wipe out humanity.
– Within six days of its launch, ChatGPT surpassed a million users to the extent its servers couldn’t keep up. As more and more netizens play with ChatGPT’s preview, coming to surface are some of the cracks in AI’s thinking as its creators rush to mend them in real time. Here are some selected topics:
