Number of children in hospital with bronchiolitis in Andalucía climbs to 245 and 48 are in intensive care:
– Inflation continues to drop tenths for another month. The CPI for November stands at 6.8%, half a point less than the previous month, its lowest figure since January (6.1%), before the war in Ukraine broke out and energy and food prices fell. shoot. The data confirmed this Wednesday by the INE indicate that prices are today four points lower than in July, when the rate reached its maximum peak (10.8%) since September 1984.
– The National Institute of Statistics assures that this drop in the CPI is due to the moderation in fuel and electricity prices compared to the significant increases of a year ago. In fact, the data indicates that energy products are down 4.6% since October and have even cut 1.5% so far this year. Compared to the prices of November 2021, energy has risen by 4.5%. Harry, Meghan vent grievances in final Netflix episodes:
– Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, vent their grievances against the British monarchy in the second half of their Netflix documentary series released Thursday, which includes Harry describing how his older brother shouted at him during a meeting and Meghan talking about wanting to end her life as she struggled to cope with toxic press coverage.
– The couple have detailed their experiences leading to their decision to step away from royal duties and make a new start in the United States in “Harry & Meghan,” a six-part series. The first three installments, released last week, focused on the British media’s coverage of the couple and the way it was influenced by racism.
– The final three episodes see Harry, 38, directing more of his ire at Prince William, now heir to the throne, and speaking in more detail about how his relationship with the royal household broke down. EU Parliament Scandal Update- Ex EU Parliament VP Kaili’s boyfriend points finger at corruption plot boss in Parliament as suspicions grow over Morocco: {Translation }
– The Italian Francesco Giorgi, the partner of former European Parliament Vice-President Eva Kaili, has confessed to his involvement in the European Parliament bribery scheme involving Qatar and Morocco, and has named several people involved, Belgian daily Le Soir reported on Thursday.
– Giorgi, 35, father of a two-year-old daughter with Kaili, 44, admitted his guilt to police and the examining magistrate during questioning by Belgian authorities in the scandal that broke last Friday.
– The parliamentary assistant, whom the judge decided on Wednesday to remand in custody, has pointed to former Italian MEP Pier Antonio Panzieri, whose home was seized with 700,000 euros by police and who has also been charged and is being held in custody.
Panzieri’s wife and daughter have been arrested in Italy and Belgium has requested their surrender.
– The young Italian has also charged two other Social Democrat MEPs: the Belgian Marc Tarabella, whose home had already been searched by the authorities as part of the investigation, but who was at liberty; and the Italian Andrea Cozzolino, for whom Giorgi worked as an assistant.
– Kaili, for his part, is in pre-trial detention and is due to appear before a judge on the 22nd, after not being able to appear on Wednesday due to a strike by civil servants.
– In the searches, police found hundreds of thousands of euros in cash at the home of Kaili and Giorgi, with whom he has been in a relationship for five years.
– The agents also caught Kaili’s father leaving a hotel in Brussels with bags of money, a circumstance that allowed them to act despite the Greek politician’s parliamentary immunity, which allowed them to understand that she was committing a flagrant offence.
– Le Soir, which together with Kanack broke the scandal, adds that Giorgi did not charge Belgian MEP Maria Arena, who has not yet been caught up in the police operation but who has made it public that one of her assistants in the European Parliament is also implicated in the scandal.
– The new information revealed by the newspaper points more and more strongly to Morocco, not only Qatar, as the source of the bribes. It points in particular to Morocco’s ambassador to Poland, Abderrahim Atmoun, and two Moroccan secret service agents whom it does not identify. More EU Parliament Charges Pending- EU prosecutor seeks to strip immunity from Kaili, fellow Greek MEP amid bribery scandal: – Prosecutor Laura Kovesi’s office said Kaili, a socialist, and her conservative colleague Maria Spyraki were suspects in a separate case related to the payment of parliamentary assistants.
– Kaili has already been charged in a Belgian investigation into alleged bribes said to have been paid by World Cup host Qatar to burnish its image and influence EU policy. In that case a Belgian magistrate concluded that her parliamentary immunity would not apply as she was allegedly caught red-handed with thousands of euros in cash.
– But in the separate issue of parliamentary allowances and assistants’ pay she continues to enjoy protection as an MEP, as does her political rival Spyraki, who has no link to the bribery scandal. US Supplying Sophisticated Air Defense Missiles To Ukraine?:
– Russia’s Foreign Ministry warned Thursday that if the United States confirms reports that it plans to deliver sophisticated air defense missiles to Ukraine, it would be “another provocative move by the U.S.” that could prompt a response from Moscow.
– Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in a weekly briefing that the U.S. had “effectively become a party” to the war in Ukraine, following reports that it will provide Kyiv with Patriot surface-to-air missiles, the most advanced the West has yet offered to help repel Russian aerial attacks.
– Growing amounts of U.S. military assistance, including the transfer of such sophisticated weapons, “would mean even broader involvement of military personnel in the hostilities and could entail possible consequences,” Zakharova added. She did not specify what the consequences might be.
– U.S. officials said Tuesday that Washington was poised to approve sending a Patriot missile battery to Ukraine, finally agreeing to an urgent request from Ukrainian leaders desperate for more robust weapons to shoot down incoming Russian missiles that have crippled much of the country’s vital infrastructure. An official announcement is expected soon. Photo: Yahoo. Full article: https://apnews.com/article/russia-ukraine-politics-donetsk-government-united-states-eed3a0fc72e8197182e78dcc73ade45e

No More Tiny Toiletry Sets at European Hotels Due to Union’s Efforts to Reduce Plastic Waste: The European Commission has proposed banning the use of toiletries in European hotels as part of new rules on reducing waste across the zone, which forbids service providers to offer shampoo bottles, body lotions and shower gels to their customers. Instead, hotels now have to use larger reusable bottles or guests will have to bring these products with them. The move is part of the European Green Deal’s Circular Economy Action Plan, which intends to make sustainable products accessible and the norm, as well as make packaging recyclable in the next eight years. HEALTH

Four genes identified as heightening risk of suicide:
– A large study of military members led by researchers at Duke Health and the Durham VA identified four genes that are linked to an increased risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors.
– While more work is needed to determine whether identification of the genetic markers might lead to targeted treatments, the findings advance the understanding of how inherited risk factors play a role in the pathology of suicidal thoughts and actions.
– “It’s important to note that these genes do not predestine anyone to problems, but it’s also important to understand that there could be heightened risks, particularly when combined with life events,” said Nathan Kimbrel, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Duke.
– Through a genome-wide analysis of blood samples, the researchers identified numerous genes that were evident among participants with documented cases of suicidal thoughts or actions, regardless of their ancestral background. Four genes had the strongest links, and have been previously associated with psychiatric conditions: ESR1, an estrogen receptor; DRD2, a dopamine receptor; DCC, which is expressed in brain tissue; and TRAF3 is associated with antisocial behavior, substance use, and ADHD. In addition to those genes, the researchers also identified nine additional ancestry-specific risk genes. Android Malware Campaign Leverages Money-Lending Apps to Blackmail Victims:
– None of the 33 apps used in the deceptive scheme have been distributed through the Google Play Store. The money lending applications, instead, are available through unofficial app stores or sideloaded to the phones via smishing, compromised websites, rogue ads, or social media campaigns.
– Once installed, the malware poses a risk as it’s designed to prompt the users to grant it intrusive permissions under the pretext of guaranteeing a loan, and harvest a wide range of private information.
– The collected data – which includes GPS locations, SMSes, contacts, call logs, files, photos, and audio recordings – is then used as a pressure tactic to force victims into paying excessively high-interest rates for the loans, sometimes even in cases after the loan is repaid.
– To make matters worse, the threat actors subject the borrowers to harassment by threatening to reveal their information, call people from the contact list, and send abusive messages and morphed photos from the infected devices.
– The findings come two weeks after Lookout discovered nearly 300 mobile loan applications on Google Play and Apple’s App Store that collectively have more than 15 million downloads and have been found engaging in predatory behavior. SCAMS

Fake Parking Tickets With Scam QR Codes: {Translation}
– What you are about to see now has happened in Madrid. But be careful, because it could happen in your city. Quite a few residents of various neighbourhoods have found a small piece of paper on the windscreen of their car. You can imagine: a fine. Or so it would seem.
– In reality, it is a scam. It is surprising because it has the same typography as that of the Madrid City Council, the same shape, the paper is the same. And, moreover, it came with a QR code. A QR code that directed you to the scam.
– Cybersecurity expert Antonio Ramos explained on ‘La Tarde’ that: “The QR code is widely used in bars, restaurants and shopping centres. The fines are well drafted, which can be done from a normal printer. They clone the page of the Madrid City Council and include a prompt payment demand. yThe scammers can steal the payment, keep your account details to make other withdrawls”. OTHER

Why Spanish has question and exclamation marks at the start of sentences:
– Spanish is the only language in the world which puts an ‘upside down’ exclamation mark (¡) or question mark (¿) at the start of a sentence.
– Spanish academics concluded that having a question mark at the end of a sentence wasn’t enough – especially when it came to long sentences (…and the Spanish love their run-on sentences) – and that a ¿ should be added at the very start as well.
– Initially this rule of adding an inverted question mark was only applicable to long sentences, but over the years linguists realised that it was often difficult to determine when a sentence should be considered short or long, and that people ended up interpreting the rule at will. So in 1870, Spain’s Royal Academy ruled that initial signos de interrogación should be added to all applicable cases, regardless of the length of sentences.
