MALAGA
Five wineries in the province of Malaga you must not miss this year:
{Translation}
1. Bodegas Nilva, in Manilva. Its production is gradually attracting attention and has already received some outstanding recognition, such as its white wine, which recently received the Sabor a Málaga Award with DO Sierras de Málaga, mainly for its aroma and freshness with saline touches. They produce only about 8,000 bottles of wine per year and the use of the Moscatel de Alejandría grape gives them their differentiation.
2. Bodega Sedella is an avant-garde bodega that is at the forefront of new wines in Malaga. They have the latest winemaking technology and certainly have one of the most ground-breaking wineries on the scene. Currently they only have their red wine in production, “made from the Romé and red Garnacha varieties from centenary vines and aged between 16 and 20 months in new French oak barrels”. It is smooth on the palate, with an intense colour and iodised notes.
3. Huerto de la Condesa. This bodega has a long history behind its walls. At the old Heredad de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores estate in Ronda, recently rehabilitated. They have garnacha and syrah varieties, such as one of their wines, Pampaneando, which is currently out of stock -there must be a reason. They have enabled a visit to their vineyards that includes a tasting, an exceptional opportunity to learn about their history.
4. Viñedos Verticales. Moclinejo village, in the Axarquía region. They currently have six productions, La Raspa white, La Raspa red, Filitas y Lutitas, Magnético, El Camaleón and Noctiluca. These last two have been highly praised, the first one is red, from 2019; and the second one is sweet, sweet and aromatic.
5. Tres Generaciones (pic). One of the many wineries and vineyards in the Serranía de Ronda. It also has a long history with its wines, of which it currently has La Depa, El Leto, El Arquitecto and Aniya, named after the popular culture of Ronda. In particular, El Arquitecto has been awarded the Bacchus 2022 gold medal, the only wine with the Málaga and Sierras de Málaga designation of origin to hold this title.

Around 28,000 communities of owners in Malaga province still need to update their garage doors:
– Garage doors have become a headache for many communities of owners in Malaga province, because around 28,000 do not comply with current EU safety regulations. This is not an insignificant figure, as it amounts to about one half of the garages belonging to communities and private owners in the province.
– The safety rules apply to automatic doors and they require rubber anti-collision pads, an orange warning light and a detection and braking system for the doors in the event of a collision, among other features. All those which are being installed at present are obliged to include these in order to obtain the first occupancy certificate, but this is not the case with older buildings.
– The need to adapt garage doors to meet the safety regulations is causing great debate in some communities, where residents are reluctant to meet the expense. The regulation came into force in 2017 and although at present there is no deadline by which the doors have to be adapted, experts are concerned that if an accident occurs communities or private individuals could be fined and sued.
– Maintenance companies believe the authorities should crack down on this problem, as they have done in the past with lifts in buildings. “Nothing should be too much when it comes to people’s safety,” they insist.

‘Enough is enough’: UK PM announces crackdown on illegal immigration: Dec. 13, 2022, 4:13 PM
– Britain on Tuesday said it planned to bring in new legislation to prevent migrants who cross the English Channel from remaining in the country, as the government tries to control a surge in people arriving in small boats on its southern coast. The number of people arriving in England across the Channel has more than doubled in the last two years, with government figures showing Albanians account for the highest number of people arriving by this route.
– “If you enter the UK illegally you should not be able to remain here,” Sunak told parliament. “Instead, you will be detained and swiftly returned either to your home country or to a safe country where your asylum claim will be considered.” Photo: Peter Nicholls. ‘Qatargate’ – The keys to the scandal that rocks the European Parliament: Four influential figures in Brussels have been indicted on charges of corruption for allegedly receiving bribes to improve the public image of the Gulf country. Less than a week after the first allegations came to light, the European Parliament is a hornet’s nest of suspicion and mistrust, while the heads of the main European institutions are trying to defend the “integrity” of the continental project in times of growing public distrust by pledging zero tolerance against corruption and greater transparency. EU Tells Member States to Remove All COVID Restrictions, If They Have Any Left:
– The Council of the European Union has issued a new statement calling on the Member States to remove any remaining Coronavirus travel restrictions and enable the full freedom of movement within the block, which during the pandemic had halted almost completely.
– “Under the new recommendations, Member States should not impose any restrictions on travel on the grounds of public health. However, the recommendations keep a number of safeguards in case of a deteriorating epidemiological situation,” the Council notes in its statement.
– It further points out that in case the epidemiological situation worsens, and the Member States have the need to address the situation, appropriate restrictions should be imposed in a coordinated manner, which may include vaccination, proof of recovery or testing. iPhone 14 users can now use satellite to get emergency help when they’ve got no signal or Wi-Fi, and now Apple can now track you whether you have a signal/wifi or not:
– The Emergency SOS feature means people stuck in remote areas should now be able to get help more easily if things go wrong. The satellite feature kicks in when someone tries to call 999 but can’t get a signal.
– All new iPhone 14 models now have the features, with people in the UK, Ireland, France and Germany the first to benefit. More countries will follow next year. Apple says the “game-changing” connection to satellite is possible due to “custom-designed components and deeply integrated software”.
– The iPhone 14 also has a crash detection feature that senses when someone may have had a road accident and calls first responders – again a capability shared with some other handsets. However, some users reported in October that it was being triggered when they were on rollercoasters. New Zealand will ban smoking for all people born after 2009: The smoking ban for those born after 2009 will be for life, with fines of up to NZ$150,000 (about 92.000 euros) in case of non-compliance, local media report. This is being done with a view to the country being smoke-free by the year 2025. The measure is part of a package of reforms that will also reduce the amount of nicotine in tobacco products and it will limit the points of sale, from the current 6,000 to a maximum of 600 from the end of next year, as explained by the Government.
