Lost – Mobile Phone
Whilst walking the dog Friday evening my mobile phone          must have fallen out of my pocket. If anybody finds an old Samsung model mobile telephone in a black cloth cover could they please email me ? Was walking down the promenade in Torrox Costa at about 5.45 pm

What’s on- . The Torrox Spanish History Group
   The Group has now had four very successful and well attended group meetings as well as two outings to historical places of interest and we are looking forward to more visits in the coming year. All visits are chosen so that they are within easy reach by car or bus.
Our next group meeting will be on Tuesday the 3rd of April and the talk will be on the Spanish Civil war. Our speaker will be the well known author Joan Fallon who has written books on Spanish History which is a passion of Joan’s and she is the author of “Daughters of Spain” and “The Ring of Flames” set in 11th century Cordoba and many more besides.
Joan’s books will be at a reduced price for members and she will also sign any books which are purchased.
Our talk in May will on the Romans in Spain with a second talk on the Caliphates and in June there will be a talk on the Habsburg’s.

What’s on The Phoenix Social Club of Torre del Mar was awarded a Bronze Medal by La Cruz Roja on Thursday 22nd March at the Hotel Yaramar in Fuengirola. Pic This medal was one of only 4 awarded in the Province of Malaga and the only English speaking association to receive one and is in recognition of our financial contributions towards the work of La Cruz Roja.
The bronze medal was presented by the Mayor of Fuengirola to the Vice President, Tim Denham, who received it on behalf of our members. The Club Treasurer Mary Burbery and her husband David, also attended the presentation. It is a great honour for The Phoenix Club to be recognised, for the financial contributions we make bi-annually, giving something back to our host country via The Red Cross. What’s on –Singing for Pleasure Group                      The U3A Singing group is reforming after a year’s break.  This fun group is for anyone who enjoys singing for the sheer enjoyment of opening their lungs and singing for a couple of hours each month in convivial company.  We are not a choir and don’t perform in public, but get together once a month to sing our favourite songs including traditional, folk, pop, songs from the shows etc. All chosen by you, the participants.  All nationalities are welcome with their songs. What’s on-: Chiki’s Wednesday Cooking Classes           Our ‘’Canning’’ cooking class has attracted confusion since we mention that each participant will go home with their own preserved jar.  Where is the ‘’can’’ ¿? I have been asked…  Well, the term canning is an American term.  British English prefers to call this process ‘’preserving’’ food.  So on Wed. Kittens for Adoption
                                                                                                       We have been adopted by four kittens who are now old enough for adoption.
We have been in contact with AAR so they will all be spayed/neutered and vaccinated etc. by their vet, and we are contributing.
If you can help in any way with re-homing it would be appreciated. We are leaving Canillas de Aceituno campo soon to go to the UK,
so need to find homes for them.
Three boys, and the mainly white one is a girl, they are lively and appear very intelligent, the mother looks very Siamese.

Please help – lost kitten     We were taking 2 kittens to the 365 Vets just outside Velez Malaga yesterday be neutered, when one escaped from the carrier just outside the Vets.  She was off like a streak into the long grass that borders the entrance road.  She is a very feisty ginger kitten with white markings approximately 5 months old and has never been away from her mother and siblings.  Many thanks to the kind gentleman who helped look for her to no avail but who thought she may be in the culvert.   If anyone can help find her, or has found her, please call 951067723

We will start with basic bread-making techniques, and how to make the loaf that suits you and your lifestyle. We will also be making specialist breads such as soda bread, garlic  bread

Starting from December the group will use “The Private Life of Masterpieces” which was a BBC arts documentary series which told the stories behind great works of arts languages. The original narrations were done by the actor Samuel West and Tim Pigot Smith. Janice will give a short introduction about the artist. Then, we will watch the DVD. This will be followed by a lively discussion. In March, we are looking at Primavera by Botticelli. What’s on- Arthritis Exercise Classes Back by popular demand!                                         Our 3rd round of classes are about to start. Led by UK qualified, fully Spanish registered physiotherapist (Col no 2066). The first 2 groups have now moved on to our coninuation and maintenance class, having achieved remarkable results. Suitable for people who are suffering chronic pain from degenerative arthritis such as osteoarthritis of the knee, the hip, spine (including spondylosis and spinal stenosis), neck, shoulders, elbows. Research has shown that a regular exercise regime can: strengthen your joints and body in general reduce pain improve your physical function improve your psychological well-being We will be exercising twice a week for 6 weeks. Each session lasts for 1 hour and includes a 45 minute exercise session and a 15 minutes information/education session. Maximum 8 people per class. Please note that the classes are mixed sex. Each exercise session starts with a gentle warm-up. Then exercises are initially performed for 1 minute at a time. There will be a 1-2 minute rest between exercises. The exercises are gentle and can be progressed as you improve. We finish with a cool down. 10 € per session, or 20€ per week, or 85€ for the full 6 weeks. Classes start Tuesday the 3rd April 2018 at 11-12 am. Every Tuesday and Friday. The program finish Friday the 11th of May 2018. Centro Mar y Salud, Paseo Maritimo 4, El Morche 29793, Malaga, Spain. To book: nikki@unlimited-exposure.com In this experiential workshop you’ll explore the power of the photograph as a method of personal communication. A photograph is more than a mere visual representation of something seen by the photographer. What is chosen to be in the frame, what remains outside the viewer’s sight, the quality of the light, juxtaposition, symbolism and metaphor, all colour the information conveyed in an image.
We start with an introduction to photography as a process of visual storytelling, discussing techniques and examples. You’ll then have a set of tasks – photographic exercises – to do wandering around Cómpeta, to practice a different way of seeing. We’ll break for lunch which also allows you time to edit and select your favourite images, and deliver them to Nikki – either over wifi or bring your own card reader with a USB connection.
The workshop will close with a group discussion and evaluation over drinks at Hotel Balcón, but it doesn’t end there!
Participants’ favourite photographs will be showcased on the ArtWalk website/facebook page to invite a public vote. The image with the most likes wins its creator a bottle of Cómpeta wine, ¡Salud!
This workshop is suitable for anyone with an interest in photography. You don’t need to own an SLR, a camera phone is fine! Language: The workshop will be led in English, with instructions available in Spanish, German, French, and Dutch. Number of participants: minimum 5, maximum 10

What’s on- First Aid for Dogs and Dog Owners Course €40                              Why dog first Aid? Well unlike our other pets, we tend to take our dogs with us where ever we go and sometimes we take them to quite remote places like fields etc where we may be quite a distance from where we left the car. If anything happens to our dog then its going to be us that will have to do something and then manage getting them back to the car to take them to the vets.
Unfortunately we cant call 112 for our injured or ill dog and expect a pet ambulance to arrive with a couple of vets inside to treat our sick family member. Our course is designed to bridge the gap between your dog collapsing and getting to the vet.
The course isn’t designed to remove the need to go to the vets but instead to recognise when things are serious and need the vet, and equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills to be able to make that difference which might ultimately save your beloved dogs life. Just like in human lifeaccidents can happen anywhere – when you are out walking your dog, on the roadside or even at home. Coming on our course will give you the skills and knowledge to provide immediate action before calling the vet. More importantly we will give you the confidence to be able to use those skills.
This course is ideal for dog owners and those that work with dogs such as dog walkers, dog sitters, dog groomers.
On our 4 hour short course we will cover:-
Knowing your dog Weekly health checks Managing an incident
Checking vital signs CPR Drowning Choking Bleeding injuries Shock Restraints and carries  Dog first aid kits and what should be in them
Our course is compliant with the UK Veterinary Act 1966 & Vet Recover Guidelines 2012

What’s on Chiki’s Wednesday Cooking Classes
Antonio, Manager of Chiki BioRestaurant, will offer cooking classes starting on Wed. March 28 from 11am to 1pm. This first class will inspire participants to learn their own canning techniques. The teacher will take you step by step thru the best canning practices while inviting you to participate in the process. And you’ll go home with a finished canned jar all of your own. What’s Not on Spring Fest Florymar Postponed To 31-3-18                         The organic market at the Florymar Gardencentre in Benajarafe will be open this Saturday as usual, but the Spring Fest will be postponed until the 31st because of the rain. The 17th and 24th of March will be just market from 10am – 2pm. The 31st of March will be our Spring Festival with a longer day until 5pm, with more stalls, live music by Mateo Alvarez, a healing area with workshops about Reiki, Reconnective Healing and Light Therapy, as well as other workshops and lots of children’s activities.
