Parking at Minigolf La Herradura:
-Important Notice: Mingolf La Herradura will remain closed until Friday 18 August. If there is a change in advance of the 18th, it will be posted on our website, http://www.minigolflh.es . Also, it is best to contact me using WhatsApp, 603 416 632. Missed phone calls without a message may go unanswered at present. Sorry for any inconvenience.
-High Season Parking: After some heavy lifting, measuring and painting the first two-thirds of the Minigolf La Herradura plot is now home to 20 parking spaces available for daily parking. If you are planning on spending the day in La Herradura this summer holiday, you could not ask for a more central location.
There is a large bathroom available as well as a picnic table where self-catering is allowed. Security cameras cover the entire plot. You could almost call this “boutique” parking. As such I highly recommend that you call in advance for reservations.
-Opening Hours and Admission fee: A daily pass costs 10 euros with opening hours every day from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. The price of admission includes unlimited access to the Minigolf course itself with parking included subject to availability.
-Minigolf has added an additional nine holes:
The full 18-hole course is complete and easily playable. It has tucked in nicely at the back in the space previously used for racquet sports and one petanca lane. The only difference from before is shorter spacing from one hole to the next.
The second petanca lane has been converted into what I refer to as the nine hole “guerrilla” course, the reason being that you decide the layout of the holes in whatever sneaky way you prefer. Nine actual holes are provided and there are various obstacles spread about. The players then decide how they want to arrange them, and where the hole will begin. It’s a fun way to create longer “holes” criss-crossing each other and there is no wrong design. A lot of fun in a small space.
-Location: We are very easy to find, albeit obscured from the beachfront Paseo Andrés Segovia. (See picture at the top. The red arrow reflects the fact these little alleys are one-way streets.). Please visit our website: www.minigolflh.es , contact tab, for full Google map.
Saludos, Señor Minigolf, Scott Huston/La Herradura

MOONETTE – Organic Skincare for Mature Skin

We are a Torrox-based company specialising in the creation of formulae which help prevent premature skin ageing. We are committed to making effective products at affordable prices.
Your skin health matters to us. How you feed your skin is as important as how you feed your body. Why settle for anything less than natural and organic?
As our skin is the first layer of our defence against microbial infections, ultraviolet radiation and environmental contamination it plays a vital role in our health. As we grow older, however, our skin becomes thinner, wrinkled, and more sensitive; hence it requires the use of treatments containing specific ingredients to the care of treating mature skin.
Recognising this need we have created a range of formulae which help
-slow down ageing process by smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.
-improve facial complexion and eliminate blemishes.
At Moonette, we are passionate about health, beauty and plants. Your skin will benefit from the properties of botanic essential oils combined with a selection of nutrients for deep hydration, cell revitalization and antioxidant effect, all sourced from the finest natural ingredients with gorgeous fragrances.
Naturally, we care about our planet and feel the need to help reduce the sheer volumes of plastics waste that are generated daily around the globe. Presently, we are minimizing the usage of plastic materials in our production while seeking alternative forms of packaging. To help reduce pollution we are asking all local customers to recycle or reuse their Moonette skincare containers, and offering a small discount on future purchases to customers recycling containers.

CIF G93245116 ; Charity Number 10567 (Spain)
Email: axarquia-rescue@hotmail.com
Website: www.axarquiaanimalrescue.com
– Petra – DOB estimated 13.1.17 – A gentle giant, who has now adapted well to living in a home. Petra lives, and gets on well with other dogs and cats, but prefers human company. She isn’t very energetic, and loves to just potter round the garden. Although she is now used to going out for walks and stopping for a coffee. Petra will make the perfect family pet, if you have the space.
– Metta – DOB estimated 1.12.22 – Metta is a Podenco Cross, and likely to remain small to medium in size. Found as a young pup during a storm, she has thrived in her foster home. She has a wonderful temperament and loves all other animals, very affectionate and playful.
– Olive – DOB estimated 9.5.21 – Olive is a Podenco, and has the ears to prove it! Found on the streets in May, and now in a caring foster home, where she has adapted really well. She gets on well with the other dogs, and greets everyone with a wagging tail. Olive is only small in size, weighing 11kg.
– Patsy – DOB 18.03.23 – Bodeguero Mix. Born in kennels not long after her pregnant mum was rescued. Patsy is now in foster with one of her siblings, she is a happy pup, and has a very gentle nature. Good with other dogs and cats. Although mum is a Bodeguero, Patsy has been estimated to be medium to large in size.
– These are 4 of our dogs looking for homes of their own. All are fully vaccinated, chipped and have passports. Petra & Olive are both neutered. Metta & Patsy are not ready to be neutered yet. Please take a look at our website, where you will find more information and photos, plus details of other dogs and pups that we have in our care. Our adoption costs are €110 for pups that have been fully vaccinated, rabies, chip and passport and €180 for older dogs that have all vaccinations, papers and have been neutered. This contributes towards their vet and care costs, and helps us to continue rescuing abandoned dogs and cats.

Can We Use Air Conditioner Water?:
– It is not recommended to drink AC water or allow pets to drink it. Air conditioner water, also known as condensate water, is the water that is collected from an air conditioner’s evaporator coil during the cooling process. While AC water is generally clean and free of contaminants, it is not purified in the same way that distilled water is and is not considered safe to drink.
– In fact, it will often appear clean and free of impurities, because it comes from the humidity in the air and doesn’t come into contact with “external” sources of dirt or bacteria. However, the coils and “inside of an AC unit” contain contaminants and microbes which then flows with the drain water. In theory it is pure, but in practical terms, it’s full of microbes, mould, mildew, plus heavy metals and chemical residue from the device manufacturing process.
– AC condensate water can be used in a variety of applications, including:
– Watering plants: AC condensate water is generally clean and free of contaminants, making it a suitable source of water for plants. (Mineral free, so no nutritional value, add a small portion of plant food to keep plants happy.)
– Washing, but not bathing: AC condensate water may contain bacteria and traces of metals but can be used for general washing tasks.
– Flushing Toilet: AC condensate water can be used for flusing in toilets. As many gallons of water are wasted daily just for flusing in toilets we can save water by using ac condensate water.

TORROX

Unannounced Torrox Water Cuts Wednesday Night- Here’s what the mayor posted on FB at 6:18pm Thursday- No Schedule Of Cuts Announced: {FB Translation}
{Reports of water outages all over Torrox Wednesday night. Times of outages vary, and some report no water for 2 days. The average cut appears to be from 11pm until early morning. Meanwhile, the mayor has not even acknowledged there have been outages. -Ed.}
Mayor of Torrox: “Torrox belongs to the Viñuela-Axarquia system and water is supplied to us on a daily basis.
I feel very proud of the great management we have done during the last months and years (water works to fix leaks, strict flushing and lately using non-potable water from wells…); thanks to which we have saved the summer (despite the 20% cut); and right now the tourist occupation is 100%, we have the best unemployment data and the highest economic growth in the history of Torrox.
But with the heat wave, with the great bridge of August 15 (which this year falls on Tuesday), and the fair of El Morche, we foresee historical record of affluence in our municipality. And it coincides that just now, in these days where we quadrupled the population, the public company Axaragua is having problems in its system to provide us with water (just when we need it most is when “their systems” are failing).
This makes me take new measures of adjustment that I hope will be temporary, because the goal is to ensure water in homes and businesses without the need to decree daily cuts as many neighbouring towns are being forced to do. I ask for a super responsible use of water in our homes (neighbours and visitors); and understanding in case in the peaks of more consumption there are specific problems of supply.
And thanks to the Junta de Andalucia invested 1.7 million euros in the WWTP of the region, many farmers can irrigate their fields with treated water from the Manzano and the river Torrox.
We are also working on the construction of a reservoir of 5,000 m3 capacity for the Coast that allows us to have a margin of maneuver of 1 or 2 days in case the Viñuela Axarquia system fails, as it is happening right now, which are the days that we have more people in the municipality.
United we will get out of these critical moments of drought!”

Northern Ireland’s top police officer apologizes for ‘industrial scale’ data breach, 10,000+ officers exposed, it’s the second breach they’ve had in a month:
– Northern Ireland’s top police officer apologized Thursday for what he described as an “industrial scale” data breach in which the personal information of more than 10,000 officers and staff was released to the public.
– The breach occurred Tuesday when the force responded to a Freedom of Information request seeking information about the number of officers and staff of all ranks and grades across the Police Service of Northern Ireland. The response accidentally included a table that contained the surnames, initials, location and departments for all employees, along with the information requested.
– A second breach that occurred in July was revealed Wednesday. That breach involved the theft of documents including a spreadsheet containing the names of more than 200 serving officers and staff, as well as a police-issued laptop and radio.
– The Police Federation for Northern Ireland, which represents rank-and-file officers, said Wednesday that it had been inundated with calls from worried officers following the data breach.
– The incident is particularly sensitive given the delicate security situation in Northern Ireland, which is still trying to overcome decades of sectarian violence known as “The Troubles.” Twenty-five years after a peace agreement largely ended the violence, many police officers continue to shield their identities because of continuing threats from dissident elements of the republican and unionist communities. EUROPE

Putin profits off US and European reliance on Russian nuclear fuel:
– The U.S. and its European allies are importing vast amounts of legal and unsanctioned nuclear fuel and compounds from Russia, providing Moscow with hundreds of millions of dollars in badly needed revenue as it wages war on Ukraine.
– Europe is in a bind largely because it has 19 Russian-designed reactors in five countries that are fully dependent on Russian nuclear fuel. The situation in France is of major concern due to its long established history of relying on Russian-enriched uranium, almost tripling purchases in just one year. In a report published in March, Greenpeace, citing the United Nations’ Comtrade database, showed that French imports of enriched uranium from Russia increased from 110 tons in 2021 to 312 tons in 2022.
– Europe spent nearly $828 million (almost €750 million) last year on Russian nuclear industry products — including fuel elements, nuclear reactors, and machinery — according to Eurostat, the EU’s statistics office. El Puente Christian Fellowship:
We are a friendly, multi-national, Bible believing community of Christ. We meet each Sunday at 11am to worship the Lord. We enjoy a time of worship with contemporary songs and traditional hymns, and a message brought to us by our Pastor, one of our members or a visiting speaker.
Bible study is at 6pm on Tuesdays.
The church meeting hall is situated underneath Maroma Inmobiliaria, Puente don Manuel, Cruce de Periana, 29713.
Full directions and further information can be found on our Facebook page, or you can contact us by email on elpuentechristianfellowship@gmail.com or by phone on 665 62 63 42.
For those who cannot join us in person, we aim to stream Sunday services via the Facebook page (subject to a good internet connection).
