Carratraca celebrates its XXVI Embrujo Andalusí Festival this weekend with concerts and programming: {Translation, summary}
– This coming weekend, from Friday, September 8 to Sunday, September 10, Carratraca celebrates a new day of its Embrujo Andalusí Festival, the twenty-sixth edition of this festival, formerly known as Luna Mora or Embrujo de Luna Mora. The town is filled with candles and their light to highlight Andalusian dances and music, the souk opens, and there will be concerts by Laura Gallego , Miguel Campello and Muchopelo .
– The Embrujo Andalusí Festival will be inaugurated this Friday the 8th with the opening of the souk from 6:30 p.m., an Andalusian dance parade and a falconry exhibition. It will be at 7:30 p.m. when the lighting of candles and torches will take place. Throughout the opening day there will be different Andalusian dance performances, as well as small Andalusian music concerts at the doors of the town hall and the souk square, as well as different workshops. The main course comes at 11:00 p.m. with Laura Gallego ‘s concert in the Carratraca Bullring.
– On Saturday the 9th, the activity in the souk starts at 12:30 and does so with the artisans’ souk. Again, there are Andalusian dance parades and also medieval entertainment groups. During these first hours there will be a tasting of oil from the Aceituna aloreña de Málaga designation of origin. At 2:30 p.m., gastronomy takes off with the tasting of the traditional Chivo a lo Pastoril, a typical dish from Carratraca , as well as an excellent gazpacho.
– In the afternoon, again more parades, workshops, falconry, children’s entertainment, storytelling… until 7:30 p.m., when once again the workshop takes place drawing with candles and the subsequent lighting of the candles. At 9:30 p.m. a classical music concert is scheduled at the Nuestra Señora de la Salud church in Carratraca and for 11:00 p.m., the main course: Miguel Campello’s concert at the Carratraca Bullring .
– For Sunday the 10th, the artisan souk will open again from 12:30 p.m., with dance and music, including a group of verdiales that will liven up the place. The musical and dance activity would continue until late in the afternoon. The poisoning of Europe- A look at the uranium-based ammo the US & UK are sending to Ukraine:
– The U.S. on Wednesday announced it was sending depleted uranium anti-tank rounds to Ukraine, following Britain’s lead in sending the controversial munitions to help Kyiv push through Russian lines in its grueling counteroffensive.
-Such armor-piercing rounds were developed by the U.S. during the Cold War to destroy Soviet tanks, including the same T-72 tanks that Ukraine now faces in its counteroffensive.
– Depleted uranium is a byproduct of the uranium enrichment process needed to create nuclear weapons. The rounds retain some radioactive properties, but they can’t generate a nuclear reaction like a nuclear weapon would, RAND nuclear expert and policy researcher Edward Geist said.
– While depleted uranium munitions are not considered nuclear weapons, their emission of low levels of radiation has led the U.N. nuclear watchdog to urge caution when handling and warn of the possible dangers of exposure. The handling of such ammunition “should be kept to a minimum and protective apparel (gloves) should be worn,” the International Atomic Energy Agency cautions, adding that “a public information campaign may, therefore, be required to ensure that people avoid handling the projectiles. “This should form part of any risk assessment and such precautions should depend on the scope and number of ammunitions used in an area.”
– The IAEA notes that depleted uranium is mainly a toxic chemical, as opposed to a radiation hazard. Particles in aerosols can be inhaled or ingested, and while most would be excreted again, some can enter the blood stream and cause kidney damage.
– Depleted uranium munitions, as well as depleted uranium-enhanced armor, were used by U.S. tanks in the 1991 Gulf War against Iraq’s T-72 tanks and again in the invasion of Iraq in 2003, as well as in Serbia and in Kosovo.
– U.S. troops have questioned whether some of the ailments they now face were caused by inhaling or being exposed to fragments after a munition was fired or their tanks were struck, damaging uranium-enhanced armor. (It’s suspected to be the cause of Gulf War Syndrome, which permanently disabled tens of thousands of US vets, and in some cases their family members as well. – Ed.)
– In a social media post on Telegram, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova slammed the U.S. decision to give Ukraine the munitions, writing, “What is this: a lie or stupidity?” She said an increase in cancer has been noted in places where ammunition with depleted uranium was used. Repsol doubles its fuel discounts, up to 40cents/ltr, until October 15 “to help with the September cost”: {Translation}
– Repsol has announced that, between September 6 and October 15, it will double the discounts it has offered since April with the Energy Plans to save, in order to help users “with the September cost,” according to a statement issued by the multinational.
– Thus, customers who use Waylet as a means of payment can accumulate savings of up to 40 euro cents per liter of fuel and up to 100% of the amount in electric recharges at the company’s public points and service stations, depending on whether they have of the Car, Light, Heating and Solar plans.
– Specifically, with the Car Plan the user gets 10 cents per liter of fuel and 6% of the amount of electric recharges; with the Car and Electricity Plan, 20 cents per liter and 100% of the amount of the recharges are accumulated, and with the Car, Electricity and Heating Plan, the client obtains a balance of 30 cents per liter in fuel and, also, the 100% of the amount of recharges.
– In addition, users who buy gift cards in the ‘benefits’ section of Waylet, or through the website repsol.es, from brands such as Amazon.es, El Corte Inglés, AliExpress, Decathlon or Ikea, among others, can add up to 40% of the amount in Waylet.
This balance can be used in future payments at service stations and electric recharging points, on Repsol bills (electricity and gas), on the purchase of butane cylinders, on diesel orders, on gift cards or on any of the more than 4,400 establishments attached to the Waylet network.
