Your questions answered by Ruth from Compare Funerals Spain
– Why should I have a funeral plan? Having been funeral planning for over 10 year I’ve experienced some very sad and upset families when nothing is in place. A Spanish funeral plans will ensure that all costs are covered for your funeral service. Getting a prepaid plan will help you feel assured that your family will not be under any financial strain when it comes to paying for your funeral. A plan also means you can have peace of mind that everything has been organised in advance, so your loved ones do not have to make any difficult decisions.
– Why choose Compare Funerals? There seems to be a gap in Spain between independent funeral directors, offering plans at a good price but lacking the security of an established Trust or ability to cover a client overseas and Providers who seem to charge more than necessary. We want to be right in the middle and offer the best of both worlds. Our best-priced plan is only 2,250€ and does the essentials.
– Can I do a payment plan? All our plans are payable in full or over up to 5 years interest FREE. The interest free periods are based on initial deposit. The higher the deposit the less your monthly repayments will be.
– Can I transfer the plan? The answer is YES. You could name 2 people on one plan however if you had a friend/family member pass away we can transfer the plan into a 3rd party’s name.
– What happens if I move? All our plans offer the equivalent service in Spain (including the islands), Portugal, Republic of Ireland and the UK. If you moved to the UK, we would transfer the plan to one of our many partners at no extra cost to you.
– Is paperwork included? Yes, your family will receive a death certificate in Spanish and an international certification in English. We also provide a cremation certificate that allows the ashes on board a plane.

DoctorLaptop’s Computer Repairs & Services:
– You don’t wait till your car engine freezes before you change your oil, now do you? If you do, the repair costs far more than the oil changes you skipped. It’s the same with computers. An inexpensive annual maintenance service is far cheaper than waiting until the device is annoyingly slow and popping up error messages, and thus in need of an expensive repair. Protect your computer & your privacy with annual servicing.
– The Doctor is closed on weekends. I do not work on computers that are more than 8 years old (pre 2015), unless they have been receiving annual servicing by me. Always include the patient’s make and model number when making support requests.

It was only a matter of time…60 year old woman to be charged with sexual assault for kissing male police officer during a protest: {Translation, summary}
– After the complaint of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Audiencia Nacional against Luis Rubiales for the now infamous kiss to footballer Jenni Hermoso, a male police officer has denounced for abuse – based on the previous Penal Code – the demonstrator who gave him a kiss on the mouth during the protest to try to prevent the illegal vote in Barcelona, in October 2017.
– The kiss, caught on video, occurred when the officer, then in the Police Intervention Unit (UIP), was in front of the Department of Education, on Via Augusta in the Catalan capital, under the order to seize the ballot boxes. It was there where, while he was holding the line, with his helmet visor raised, one of the demonstrators grabbed his head and kissed him.
– In the complaint presented this Monday, 11 September, to the Barcelona courts – therefore, pending admission – the police officer reports that the woman’s reaction took place in an atmosphere of “extreme environmental violence”, between shouts and insults to the uniformed officers, when they were already retreating. It was then that the demonstrator, “about 60 years old”, approached him, insulted him and brought her mouth close to his, after grabbing him by the neck.
– The officer believes that this action was intended to provoke a reaction on his part, thus triggering “a situation of generalised violence”. In addition to “disgust”, his reaction was one of restraint, given the extremely tense situation that, he says, they experienced in each school where they were ordered to intervene on that date. “When I grabbed the lower part of my helmet, I couldn’t get away,” he says in his complaint. Nor could he show a “sudden response that could have caused, to avoid an even greater risk to the force acting.
– Although almost six years have passed, the officer is now formalising the complaint, following the Rubiales case. The Unified Police Union (SUP) urges “the public authorities to provide the officer with all the tools and guarantees to protect him”.

ANDALUCIA
A new ‘DANA’ weather system is due to hit the south of Spain at end of this week:
– A new ‘dana’ (depresión aislada en niveles altos) – an isolated depression at high levels of the atmosphere – will reach Andalucía this weekend. Aemet warns of the entry of this pocket of cold air, the drop in temperatures and the discharge of rain.
– Aemet forecasts that this meteorological phenomenon will begin to be felt from Thursday onwards, although it is not possible to determine exactly where the rainfall will be most intense and whether it will be torrential. However, there will be showers almost everywhere in the region and temps will drop by up to 6C compared to those recorded in recent days. Water for irrigators in the Guadalhorce Valley runs out : {Translation, summary}
– The irrigators of the Guadalhorce Valley have run out of water. The irrigation for farmers in this region has ended and the 11.4 hectometres that they had to irrigate during July, August and September, and which the Junta de Andalucía had granted them, have been exhausted this Monday. From now on, all that remains for the farmers in the area is to “look to the sky” and wait for rain.
– At the end of the hydrological year, on September 30, the Drought Committee will meet again and analyze the remaining water in order to make an “irrigation assessment” and see how many hectometers irrigators could have for the region in fiscal year 2024.
– It should be noted that the restrictions for irrigators came much earlier, as farmers in the Axarquia have not had access to water from La Viñuela for months and those in the Guadalhorce Valley have experienced a 37% reduction in water compared to the previous year. MALAGA CITY
The Emasa water bill in Malaga will increase by six euros on average per month, 42% more: {Translation, summary}
– Rising energy costs and the headaches caused by the drought situation in Malaga have forced Emasa, the municipal water company, to raise prices for the coming year. And this increase is being carried out in two ways.
– Firstly, the rates, which have been frozen for the last eight years, have been revised.
– Secondly, the concept of a new charge has been created which, although the City Council considers temporary, the truth is that it will last for twenty years. The Emasa fee will start to be applied next year and will go up until 2028. From then until 2043, it will be applied constantly.
– The increase is expected to be reflected in Malaga residents’ bills from the second quarter of next year. This will mean an increase of 6 euros, 42% more than to date.
– It should be remembered that all this is taking place in a context in which the La Viñuela reservoir is technically dead and on the verge of no longer supplying a single drop to 200,000 inhabitants of La Axarquía. Malaga is transferring water to that area. Source, Spanish: https://www.diariosur.es/malaga-capital/recibo-agua-malaga-subira-seis-euros-media-20230912124539-nt.html

Sánchez once again avoids going to address the European Parliament he is supposed to be leading- “It is the first time this has happened in the history of the EU”: {Translation, summary}
– The acting President of the Government continues to elude the European Parliament despite the Spanish semester in the Presidency of the Council of Europe.
– It is customary that when a country holds the current Presidency of the European Union, which Spain now holds, its president or prime minister goes to the plenary session of the European Parliament to explain to the MEPs what their priorities are for the semester and their main lines of action. Everyone has done it, except one: Pedro Sánchez .
– The acting President of the Government will not attend the plenary session of the European Parliament that will be held from September 11 to 14 in Strasbourg, but he will maintain the rest of his international agenda. Covid prevented him from attending the G20 summit, but he does plan to attend the UN General Assembly on September 21.
– “There have already been two plenary sessions of the European Parliament that the acting President of the Spanish Government has not attended, despite the Spanish semester in the Council of Europe. It is the first time that this has happened in the history of the EU,” stated the MEP, Mazaly Aguilar. Kevin McCarthy Officially Opens Impeachment Inquiry into Joe Biden for ‘Abuse of Power, Obstruction, and Corruption’:
– House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) on Tuesday launched an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden for “abuse of power, obstruction, and corruption.”
– Speaking in the U.S. Capitol Building, McCarthy opened the inquiry by stating that House Republicans uncovered “serious and credible allegations” against President Biden. McCarthy said House investigators found that Joe Biden lied about his involvement in the family business and that bank records show many payments were directed to Biden family members through shell companies. He also noted an FBI informant file that alleged Joe Biden was bribed by a Ukrainian energy executive.
– “Taken together, these allegations paint a picture of a culture of corruption,” he said. “These are allegations of abuse of power, obstruction and corruption. They warrant further investigation by the House of Representatives.”
– The impeachment inquiry could lead to a full House vote on articles of impeachment. If approved by 218 votes in the House, the articles would be conveyed to the Senate, where the higher chamber would be forced to hear the evidence during a Senate trial.
– House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) announced an investigation into Joe Biden in November. The following months proved to justify Comer’s probe. Bank records in May showed the Biden business received at least $10 million from business schemes in Romania and China. Comer revealed in August the Biden family business received over $20 million from Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan while Joe Biden was vice president. In total, nine Biden family members received payments from the family foreign business ventures, including two of Joe Biden’s grandchildren. France recalls “Nuud” deodorant that is also sold in Spain: {Translation}
– The French National Medicines Agency has taken an important step by ordering the immediate withdrawal of Nuud brand deodorants that are also sold in Spain. This decision is made after detecting “cysts in the armpits in different users of this product.”
– According to the French authorities, although the deodorant is made with natural products that “are not the cause” of these cysts, its use “favors the clogging of the pores of the armpits. “This could lead to “microbial superinfection, through an occlusive effect.”
– Meanwhile, Nuud is being urged to change the formula of its deodorants. The French Medicines Agency awaits modifications that prevent future dermatological problems in users. It has been observed that “in the majority of cases, the cysts disappeared” after stopping the use of the product or following “the prescribed treatments.”
– The agency has issued a medical recommendation for consumers. Those people who detect “a cyst or a strange lump” after using these deodorants, or any other cosmetic or hygiene product, should “immediately go to the doctor.” Source, Spanish: https://andaluciainformacion.es/andalucia/1352465/francia-retira-por-quistes-en-las-axilas-un-desodorante-que-tambien-se-vende-aqui/

France Orders Apple IPhone 12 Sales Halted Over Radiation:
– French regulators on Tuesday ordered Apple to halt sales of the iPhone 12 for emitting too much electromagnetic radiation, and to fix existing handsets.
– The French agency that regulates radio frequencies, the ANFR, said testing found that the model emits more electromagnetic waves susceptible to be absorbed by the body than permitted. The ANFR said it “ordered Apple to remove the iPhone 12 from the French market from September 12 due to the model exceeding the limit” for electromagnetic absorption by the body.
– It said accredited labs had found absorption of electromagnetic energy by the body at 5.74 watts per kilogram during tests simulating when the phone was being held in the hand or kept in a pocket. The European standard is a specific absorption rate of 4.0 watts per kilogram in such tests.
– “Concerning phones already sold, Apple must in the briefest of delays take corrective measures to bring the affected phones into compliance,” said the ANFR in a statement on its website. “Otherwise, Apple will have to recall them.” Full article: https://www.barrons.com/news/france-orders-apple-iphone-12-sales-halted-over-radiation-4733323c

Beware- MetaStealer Malware Targets Apple macOS in Recent Attacks by Pretending to be Potential Clients:
– “Threat actors are proactively targeting macOS based businesses by posing as fake clients in order to socially engineer victims into launching malicious payloads,” SentinelOne security researcher Phil Stokes said in a Monday analysis. In these attacks, MetaStealer is distributed in the form of rogue application bundles in the disk image format (DMG), with targets approached through threat actors posing as prospective design clients in order to share a password-protected ZIP archive containing the DMG file.
– The main component of the malware payload has features to harvest data from iCloud Keychain, saved passwords, and files from the compromised host.
– Other instances have involved the malware masquerading as Adobe files or installers for Adobe Photoshop. Evidence gathered so far shows that MetaStealer artifacts began appearing in the wild in March 2023. Full article: https://thehackernews.com/2023/09/beware-metastealer-malware-targets.html
