DoctorLaptop’s Computer Repairs & Services:
– You don’t wait till your car engine freezes before you change your oil, now do you? If you do, the repair costs far more than the oil changes you skipped. It’s the same with computers. An inexpensive annual maintenance service is far cheaper than waiting until the device is annoyingly slow and popping up error messages, and thus in need of an expensive repair. Protect your computer & your privacy with annual servicing.
– The Doctor is closed on weekends. I do not work on computers that are more than 8 years old (pre 2015), unless they have been receiving annual servicing by me. Always include the patient’s make and model number when making support requests.

SPAIN
50,000 Attend Protest In Madrid Against Sanchez Plan to Trade Amnesty To Convicted “Separitistas” Of Independence Movements In Return For Their Supporting His Investiture:
– Tens of thousands of Spaniards took to the streets in Madrid on Sunday to protest against reports that acting Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez could grant amnesty to Catalan separatists in return for political support.
– Protesters chanted “out, out” and “Sanchez, resign.”
– Authorities estimated the turnout to be 40,000 people while the conservative People’s Party (PP), which organized the event, said around 60,000 protesters attended.
– A number of PP figures participated on stage including Madrid Mayor Jose Luis Martinez-Almeida and regional president Isabel Diaz Ayuso, as well as two of Spain’s former leaders, Mariano Rajoy and Jose Maria Aznar.
– Although PP leader Alberto Nunez Feijoo won the Spanish election in July, his party along with the far-fight Vox party and two smaller conservative parties fell four seats short of achieving a majority in parliament.
– Meanwhile, Sanchez could secure enough votes in parliament to stay in office if he wins the support of the country’s regionalist political parties. Chief among them is Junts per Catalunya led by exiled former Catalonia leader Carles Puigdemont. The party holds seven seats. Puigdemont, who is wanted in Spain for attempting the region’s secession in 2017, has demanded that legal action be dropped against fellow separatists as a condition for his support.
– Sanchez is reportedly considering such a deal but has not made any announcements. The lower house of the Spanish parliament will vote on Feijoo’s candidacy for prime minister on Tuesday. His bid is widely expected to fall short, paving the way for Sanchez to put forward his candidacy. Full article:

Still Receiving Unsolicited Commercial Calls In Spain Despite The Ban? FACUA Advises How To Report This Activity:
– A recent survey carried out by the consumer organisation FACUA revealed that 56.9 per cent of consumers still received unsolicited commercial calls. This discovery came despite the fact that such calls were prohibited in Spain at the end of June 2022. FACUA surveyed 6,065 consumers between September 20 and 22. The results showed that 56.9 per cent of them had received more than five commercial calls in the last month. Furthermore, 57.4 per cent of those who received an unsolicited call during a call, after expressly asking the teleoperator not to bother them again, subsequently received a new call offering them the services of the same company.
– FACUA advises unhappy consumers to file a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD). Full article with complaint submission info: https://euroweeklynews.com/2023/09/22/facua-advises-report-receipt-unsolicited-commercial-calls-spain-despite-ban/

TRAVEL NEWS
IMERSO Trips Update- Still no exact destinations: {Translation, summary}
– The definitive prices and destinations for the new Imserso campaign, which is about to get underway, are not yet known. Even so, the trips for the 2023-2024 season will start from the second half of October. This year, Ávoris, one of the leaders in the tourism sector in Spain, which brings together brands such as B Travel and Halcón Viajes, will be in charge of organising all the excursion packages.
– The start of the season has been delayed due to appeals lodged by travel companies who complained that Ávoris received an unfair share of the trips business (all of it). Finally, the TACRC has now rejected the appeals, and things may proceed.
– What is clear for the moment is that the trips will start this October and the Imserso will begin to send the letters of accreditation to the applicants in the next few days. The letter will contain information on the area they have been allocated and the date from which they can start booking.
– Although Ávoris has not yet released the definitive prices for the 2023-2024 season, the Ministry of Social Rights and Agenda 2030 has published a table of provisional prices for this new campaign. ENERGY CRISIS
Russia temporarily bans fuel exports in response to shortages at home, combined with recent Saudi restrictions, driving up fuel prices across EU:
– Russia has temporarily banned exports of gasoline and diesel to all countries outside a circle of four ex-Soviet states with immediate effect in order to stabilise the domestic market, the government said on Thursday. It said the ban did not apply to Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.
– Russia in recent months has suffered shortages of gasoline and diesel. Wholesale fuel prices have spiked, although retail prices are capped to try to curb them in line with official inflation.
– “Temporary restrictions will help saturate the fuel market, which in turn will reduce prices for consumers,” the (Russian) government said in a statement. The ban is indefinite and further actions will depend on the saturation of the market, according to Russian First Deputy Energy Minister Pavel Sorokin.
