You wouldn’t drive your car till it runs out of oil before servicing it, would you? I do the most comprehensive cleaning and tune-up possible: verify all System files replacing any found to be corrupt, test all hardware and do hard disk sector repairs if needed, use 5 tool malware/adware/spyware/tracker removal protocol, clean out junk files/logs/history/etc., update Windows(or MacOS)+all drivers+programs and finally optimize your settings and registry for fastest overall performance.
– Heavily infected comps, computers taking more than 2 minutes to startup or shutdown, or showing error messages, those need a repair, not a maintenance service. HDD hard disks of 1000Gb or more add €10.

SPAIN
Societat Civil Catalana estimates 300,000 protest in Barcelona against Sanchez’ plans for amnesty and self-determination: {Translation}
– Waving Spanish and Catalan flags, many thousands of people marched through Barcelona on Sunday to protest against a potential amnesty deal which Spain’s Socialists must strike over Catalonia’s 2017 separatist bid if they want to form a government.
– The protest, organised by the anti-separatist organisation Societat Civil Catalana, took place five days after Spain’s acting Socialist prime minister was nominated to seek backing of other political parties for a new mandate. Pedro Sanchez needs the support of Catalan separatist parties Junts and Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya, which want the unpopular amnesty in exchange for votes in parliament.
– Alberto Nunez Feijoo, leader of the opposition conservative People’s Party, and Santiago Abascal, leader of the far-right Vox party, attended the march which police said attracted 50,000 protesters, while the Societat Civil Catalana (SCC) put the number at 300,000. “This is not an amnesty that seeks reconciliation. The only thing it seeks is to make (Sanchez) the president of the government,” Feijoo told the rally on Sunday.
– That would be the largest amnesty in Spain since the 1977 blanket amnesty for crimes committed during the Francisco Franco dictatorship, and the first amnesty law approved in the European Union since 1991, according to Spain’s CSIC research council.
– Around 70% of respondents – 59% of them Socialist supporters – said they were against the idea of an amnesty in a poll in mid-September.

Spanish Nanny State- ITVs propose inspections for personal mobility vehicles and scooters: {Translation, summary}
– The appearance of personal mobility vehicles (PMVs) such as electric scooters in our cities has brought with it the need for a form of control over them says the ITV, Inspección Técnica de Vehículos. It is estimated that in Spain there are more than one million PMVs circulating on the roads; in order for them not to become a danger to other road users, it is necessary to ensure that they comply with certain safety criteria (…or so they claim. These politicians are never happy with things as they are, they are always making new regulations, many of dubious necessity, simply to justify their own existence and salary. -Ed.).
– For this reason, during its Sectorial Congress, AECA-ITV presented its inspection proposal for PMVs in order to ensure their correct functioning during their useful life, avoiding the accidents that some of them cause and their interrelation with other means of public transport.
– The development of new safety and connectivity systems (real-time tracking) in vehicles, the role of the ITV in the emergence of new forms of mobility such as the electric car and personal mobility vehicles (PMVs), as well as the high number of vehicles that continue to circulate on Spanish roads without having the ITV in force, were some of the issues addressed at the meeting. Source, Spanish: https://www.diariosur.es/motor/reportajes/itv-proponen-inspecciones-vehiculos-movilidad-personal-electricos-20231008173400-ntrc.html (So now granny, who uses a mobility scooter to do shopping/appointments, as she can’t afford a room in a retirement community, will need to find a way to get her scooter to the ITV, and spend money she can’t afford, to do inspections and whatever repairs they demand. And they will probably require insurance soon, adding a greater burden. Will they fine gramps if they catch him doing a pharmacy run on an uninspected scooter? These demands, if enacted, will add significantly to the isolation of our elders and disabled who will no longer be able to get around town. How does this fit into our leader’s progressive “inclusiveness” agenda? -Ed.)
MALAGA PROVINCE
The average price for a residential retirement home facility in Malaga now exceeds €2,000 per month: {Translation}
– The average price of a place in a private residence in Malaga now exceeds the symbolic threshold of 2,000 euros. Specifically, it stands at 2,090 euros, one hundred euros above the national average, which is 1,990 euros. In addition, 10% VAT should be added to this cost. This is according to a study carried out by the specialised portal Inforesidencias, which uses updated data supplied by the care centres themselves.
– This report reveals that the price of care homes varies considerably depending on the autonomous community and province. In terms of provinces, Vizcaya leads the ranking with an average monthly price of 2,324 euros and Segovia closes the list with 1,300 euros. Malaga is the sixth most expensive province in the whole country: only Vizcaya, Álava, Guipúzcoa, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Granada are higher.
– The authors of the report explain that when it comes to old people’s homes, the elderly person is not usually 65 years old, but much older. Some 62% of Internet users who look for a place in a nursing home do so for a person over 81 years of age. In fact, the average age of people living in residences is usually around 82, according to Imserso data.
– The weighted average price of a place in private nursing homes in Spain has increased by 6.4% compared to 2022. The report points out that this increase is lower than the accumulated inflation in 2022, which was 10.8%. Based on these figures, we conclude that the prices of residences have remained stable and we can say that residences are a sector that has barely passed on its structural cost increases (salary increases, gas, electricity, other supplies) to the end user in recent years”, say Inforesidencias.
– However, these prices clash with the economic capacity of many families. The average price that people enter when looking for a residence hall on the aforementioned portal is 1,571 euros, which is 26% below the real average price of a place, which is 1,990 euros on average in Spain. Furthermore, 44% of users enter prices below 1,500 euros per month and 16% enter prices below 1,000 euros. It should be borne in mind that the average retirement pension in Spain is 1,375 euros per month. Racing News- Qatar F1 Grand Prix 2023 Results, Max Verstappen Wins, Lewis Hamilton Crashes Out:
– Max Verstappen may have already clinched his third straight Formula 1 championship, but he isn’t taking his foot off the pedal. Verstappen earned his 14th win of the 2023 F1 season Sunday at the Qatar Grand Prix, further extending his already-dominant points lead. The 26-year-old clinched his title Saturday when teammate Sergio Perez crashed in Saturday’s sprint race.
– Rookie Oscar Piastri continued his impressive weekend with a second-place finish. Piastri won Saturday’s sprint race and now has two straight podium results.
– Lando Norris, George Russell and Charles Leclerc rounded out the top five.
– Lewis Hamilton did not finish after crashing out following a collision with Russell. Formula 1’s all-time wins leader said he takes “full responsibility” for the crash. Hamilton has not won in his last 40 races, by far the worst stretch of his career. Photo: Rudy Carezzevoli. Full article:

SPACE
Spanish company PLD Space launches rocket for 1st time:
– The Miura 1 is a single-stage rocket that stands 41 feet (12.5 meters) tall. It can carry about 220 pounds (100 kilograms) of payload on brief flights to suborbital space.
– PLD Space’s Miura 1 suborbital rocket lifted off Friday 6 Oct., from the El Arenosillo Test Center at the National Institute of Aerospace Technology in Huelva, Spain.
– The mission was scheduled to last 12 minutes and get 50 miles (80 kilometers) above Earth’s surface — the altitude at which space begins, according to NASA and the U.S. military. (That’s not universally accepted, however; some organizations go with the Kármán line, which lies 62 miles, or 100 km, up.) Full article: https://www.space.com/pld-space-first-launch-miura-1-rocket

Israel battles Hamas militants as country’s death toll from mass incursion reaches 600:
– Israeli soldiers battled Hamas fighters in the streets of southern Israel on Sunday and launched retaliation strikes that leveled buildings in Gaza, while in northern Israel a brief exchange of strikes with Lebanon’s Hezbollah militant group raised fears of a broader conflict.
– There was still some fighting underway more than 24 hours after an unprecedented surprise attack from Gaza, in which Hamas militants, backed by a volley of thousands of rockets, broke through Israel’s security barrier and rampaged through nearby communities. At least 600 people have reportedly been killed in Israel – a staggering toll on a scale the country has not experienced in decades – and more than 300 have been killed in Gaza.
– The militants also took captives back into the coastal Gaza enclave, including women, children and the elderly, whom they will likely try to trade for thousands of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel. UPDATE, 1:10 AM CEST, October 9, 2023
Israel declares war and bombards Gaza as fighting rages for second day after Hamas attack:
– The Israeli government formally declared war Sunday and gave the green light for “significant military steps” to retaliate against Hamas for its surprise attack, as the military tried to crush fighters still in southern towns and intensified its bombardment of the Gaza Strip. The toll passed 1,100 dead and thousands wounded on both sides.
– Israel said it brought in special forces to try to wrest control of four sites from Hamas fighters, including two kibbutzim that militants entered earlier in their attacks.
– Meanwhile, Hamas and the smaller Islamic Jihad group claimed to have taken captive more than 130 people from inside Israel and brought them into Gaza, saying they would be traded for the release of thousands of Palestinians imprisoned by Israel. The announcement, though unconfirmed, was the first sign of the scope of abductions. The captives are known to include soldiers and civilians, including women, children and older adults — mostly Israelis but also some people of other nationalities. The Israeli military said only that the number of captives is “significant.” Full article: https://apnews.com/article/israel-palestinians-gaza-hamas-rockets-airstrikes-tel-aviv-ca7903976387cfc1e1011ce9ea805a71
